From super yachts to flybridge yachts, sport yachts to long range yachts, Azimut is a world leader in state of the art yacht building. It all began in 1969 when Paolo Vitelli decided to charter sailboats to people in Turin, Italy naming the company Azimut. The following 15 years was the foundation of Azimut. In 1970, Azimut started distributing on behalf of well-known yacht builders and caught the eye of the Dutch boat yard, Amerglass. It became a collaboration of Dutch innovation and Italian design. The collaboration gave life   to the AZ 43’ Bali, one of the largest mass-produced fiberglass yachts of the time. The next years brought great achievements. With a focus on the lower end market, Azimut created the famous AZ 32 Targa known as the “Model T” of the seas, selling over 200 units. Designing yachts for the demanding market was challenging at times, but Paolo’s enduring love of the sea kept him motivated and helped create the Failaka. Paolo was having dinner with the Prince of Kuwait and drew the design within a matter of minutes.   Failaka was the first 30-meter to be built entirely of fiberglass. The yacht brand caught the eye of Americans as the yacht was displayed at the Miami Boat Show in 1985.

After its partnership with other boatyards, it was Azimut’s turn to manufacture its own designs. In 1985 Azimut acquired Fratelli Benetti boatyard. Though Benetti held on to its brand for some time, it would eventually become Azimut Benetti Yacht Group. Known today as a world leader in yacht building with an expansive portfolio of innovative, quality mega yachts. With over a century of building under the Benetti name, the boatyard gave life to the Azimut designs without having to compromise quality. The boatyard brought innovation to the forefront. In 1988, the new Azimut Benetti group wanted to go big. It set out to conquer the Blue Ribbon Trophy with the Azimut Atlantic Challenger which carried one paying customer, Winthrop Rockefeller. Azimut gained Global recognition after the transatlantic trip.

The builder hired the Italian designer, Stefano Righini, which would set the standard of Italian design and the groundbreaking designs of Azimuts. Stefano changed the design of the yachts to feature lightness and space by freeing up their shape. He was a   trendsetter and distinguished Azimut Benetti with glued glass panes, electric windows and seats, and authentic wood interiors.

Azimut Benetti has acquired 6 boatyards over its 40 years in business and continues to grow to maintain excellent relations with their clients. The most important standard for Azimut is quality. The process begins with the client’s dreams. The dream becomes a reality at the boatyard, where the focus is style, innovation, and more importantly quality. Today, Azimut uses 10 different types of multiaxial fabrics and DIAB Divinycell foam core, dryffell exterior cushions to channel water and humidity, two types of materials to drown noise, carbon fiber to provide lightweight solutions while preserving dynamic stability, Vynilester Resin to protect the hull, CRD and FEA analyisis, and structural bonding for high strength. Its no wonder why Boat Internatioal recognized Azimut as the number 1 in the world for mega yachts for the past 18 years.

Azimut Flybridge

Known for its extensive range, the Flybridge Collection is composed of eight different sizes ranging from 42’ to 80’. It allows its guest a flight experience above the sea. This collection of yachts seizes to amaze. The 60 Flybridge was awarded 2017 Best Layout Trophy in the 50’ to 80’ category. Azimut has extended the Flybridge Collection with the addition of the 55 Flybridge, featured at Boot Dusseldorf 2018.

S Collection

The sporty S Collection features harmonious, sleek lines that slice right through the water. High Tech solutions and performance material are what make up the S Collection, all while keeping the Italian elegance and design alive. This collection features 3 models: 55S, S7 and 77S. The S7 is the only one in its class to feature such floor plan, Winning the 2017 Best Technology Evolution Trophy. The carbon integration, in addition to the triple pod propulsion, on the S7 brings fuel efficiency and a unique open floor plan to the S Collection.

Created with the carefree traveler in mind, the Magellano Collection has limited fuel consumption, wide range of cruising speeds, and can take on any sea thanks to The Dual Mode hull. The long-range cruiser that broadens the horizon.

Atlantis Collection

The Atlantis Collection is a perfect mix of cruising, entertaining, and sport. Mancini’s counterpart on the 72 is the Turin-based interior designer Fabio Fantolino, who has inherited the Fly interiors away from noted architect Achille Salvagni. What Fantolino created in the yacht’s salon feels very much like an apartment in Rome, both elegant and functional. Details like leather satchel straps on the sofa set the boat apart, but in a functional way. The cushions slide to make the seating larger or more intimate. A portside galley amidships probably doesn’t have the food stowage you’d want for longer trips, but its central location makes it the hub of a chic onboard cocktail party.

One of my favorite features of this yacht’s design was a detail on the outer edge of the galley bar where lacquered, aquamarine slats call to mind the louvers common on La Dolce Vita –era runabouts. They share the same veneer as the alfresco dining table supports in the cockpit. That material, in fact, shows up across the boat, helping Fantolino create a vibe that is equal parts fun and sumptuous.

The U-shaped dining settee with a teak table to port is positioned opposite an amply sized wetbar, while other lounge seating options are both forward and aft. The hardtop overhead has glass sections to let in sunlight as well as electrically actuated shades for when the rays becomes too strong.

A plush flybridge might be something you’ve come to expect from Azimut, but a pleasant surprise on these boats is the improved work space. Historically, Azimut has not been known for functional details, but the 72 has a third steering station with joystick controls in the cockpit for easier docking, as well as a work area at the bow for crew members working the anchor. That foredeck, by the way, has a large social area with lounges and sunbeds.

Under the cockpit, the twin 1,400 hp MAN V12s were housed in an engine room that offered good access to all work points. Reported speed numbers are 31 knots at the top end, with a 26-knot cruise. Range at 26 knots is 310 nautical miles, enough to make it from New York City to Nantucket, or Miami to Nassau without refueling.

A BOW MADE FOR AL FRESCO LIVING

The asymmetrical split-level layout of the bow is designed to maximize space for outdoor living. Up top is an ample cushioned sunbathing area while just below is a versatile al fresco lounge-come-dining zone with a six-person table surrounded by an inviting C-shaped divan.

WAVE WATCHING

The helm area is flanked by windows in the hull that sweep up to gunwale level, creating a visual connection with the exterior environment. This exciting design feature also places the pilot right amongst the action, in the heart of the wake at high speeds, with water rushing by on either side almost as though it were part of the boat’s structure.

VERSATILITY AT ITS UTMOST

The galley is fitted out with a fridge, washing machine, cooktop and plenty of storage. The dinette can be easily converted into a comfortable double bed, sectioned off from the galley by a curtain.

A COMFORT-CENTRIC PHILOSOPHY

The full-size bathroom has a separate closable shower. A generous window allows natural light to illuminate it.

OUR ADVANCED TOOLKIT

The high-performance patented Stepped ‘V’ Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT) was developed by Michael Peters and incorporates a classic deep ‘V’ hull with two transverse steps and a central tunnel aft. It is this latter feature that sets it apart from other current stepped deep ‘V’s, with its shallow aft central tunnel increasing the longitudinal stability of the boat in high speed turns and adverse situations. The use of the SVVT hull on the Verve 42 represents the merging of cutting-edge hull forms with advanced outboard engine power and avant-garde concept design and styling. The combination of technologies culminates in a boat that boasts unmatchable performance, manoeuvrability and speed in its class and represents the largest and grandest SVVT pleasure boat available on the market.

Azimut’s pioneering use of carbon fiber lamination goes beyond pure performance. The Carbon Tech Generation offers expanded volumes onboard, while maintaining excellent dynamic stability and perfect handling. Preserving the yacht’s low center of gravity, the carbon fiber was focused on the upper parts of the yacht, lightening the laminated components by up to 30% and reducing the natural roll momentum up to 15%.

The Verve 42 can reach a top speed of 45 knots and cruises at 33 knots with three Mercury outboard engines, offered in 400hp and 450hp variants. It’s the ideal propulsion for dynamic and sporty yachts, such as the new Verve 42, with an unbeatable weight-to-power ratio. The pilot feels effortlessly in command with smooth handling and responsive controls. Low displacement is another important design objective accomplished thanks to this advanced solution.
