Golden Yachts launches 78m motor yacht O'Rea

Golden Yachts has completed the launch of its 78-metre (255-foot) motor yacht O'Rea, marking the third yacht to be rolled out of the sheds at the Greek shipyard this year.

The contract for the new build was signed in 2021, with long-time Golden Yachts collaborator Stefano Vafiadis designing a contemporary plumb bow that differs from the flared bows of previous models, the likes of O'Pari and O'Ptasia, and elongated trapezium-shaped windows.

Key features of O'Rea include a large swimming pool on the main deck aft, with three skylights at the bottom that filter natural light through to the "beach house" waterfront lounge below. The space is complete with a ‘health bar’ at the entrance, a lounge area with a large U-shaped sofa, and a wellness centre forward.

Vafiadis also handled the yacht's interior styling, in collaboration with Italian studio Massari Design , which most recently worked with the shipyard on its flagship Project X. O’Rea offers eight generous guest cabins including a large owner’s cabin with an adjoined private office. More than 250 finishes, including rich materials and precious stones, have been used throughout.

A spokesperson for Studio Massari commented, “Going up the staircase that connects the various decks, one is struck by many refined details and precious materials, including polished marble steps, decorated and backlit vertical panelling, chandeliers that penetrate the stairwell from the upper deck to the main deck with a polished champagne-coloured metal structure, and glass elements with three-dimensional patterns and different colour gradients.”

Elsewhere, an upper deck lounge features a piano, Lasvit glass chandelier, and an extensive audio-visual system that means the space can be used for movie nights. The yacht will also be home to a collection of contemporary artwork curated by Vasilis Dragnis in collaboration with Anna Chatzinassiou.

Top 100: Golden Yachts Launches 95m O'Pari

In the midst of what is undeniably one of the most uncertain eras of our industry’s lifetime, this week marked positive news for the world Top 100 fleet, as Greek shipyard Golden Yachts announced the launch of the 95m superyacht O'Pari from its Athens facility.

Following the success of the yard’s previous launch, 85m O’Ptasia , O’Pari marks Golden Yachts firm venture into the circle of the world’s largest shipbuilders.

The 95m vessel is the 14th vessel to be launched by the yard, and her striking exterior and interior design is the result of a long-term collaboration between Golden Yachts and Rome-based Studio Interin of Giorgio and Stefano Vafiadis.  

Details of the yacht’s specifics are as yet thin on the ground, but we can confirm she now ranks at a respectable #64 in the Superyachts.com Top 100 Largest Yachts database.

The yard has also confirmed O’Pari will accommodate 12 guests, with room for up to 28 crew members. She will also reach a top speed of up to 18 knots.

First look: Inside Golden Yachts’ 36m O’Neiro

Golden Yachts, a Greek shipyard, has recently unveiled its latest superyacht, the O’Neiro, providing an exclusive first look inside the 36.1-metre vessel. The yacht, launched in November 2022, is set to be delivered later this year and is expected to be a popular choice for chartering, with Atalanta Golden Yachts managing the bookings.

Originally built as an Akhir 118 model at Cantieri di Pisa shipyard, the GRP hull was later inherited by Golden Yachts and completed at its own shipyard outside of Athens. The yacht’s refined design is the work of in-house architect Dimitra Agapitou, who has transformed the classic sporty Akhir line with her unique vision.

As befitting her name, which means “dream” in Greek, the O’Neiro boasts a vast beach set-up and an impressive array of water toys, including inflatables, jet skis, and Seabobs. Guests will also have access to a Williams Jet Tender to take them ashore.

The interior of the yacht is equally impressive, with large windows and a carefully curated palette that creates a light-filled atmosphere. The use of smokey taupe, mellow hues, sage, pewter, oyster, and dark moka wooden floors, natural straw, and marble combine to create a sophisticated and contemporary ambiance.

The open-plan main saloon features a formal dining area, a well-stocked bar, and plenty of comfortable seating for guests to relax. The modern design aesthetic is carried through to the deck arrangements, with a spacious flybridge layout offering various lounging areas for outdoor living and alfresco dining options.

For entertainment, the O’Neiro is fitted with state-of-the-art speakers, providing excellent sound quality on deck. The yacht also has ample space for alfresco dining at the aft, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal under the stars.

The O’Neiro can accommodate up to 11 guests across six cabins, all of which have contemporary aesthetics and are en-suite with walk-in rain showers. The cabins feature adjustable ambience lighting controlled by the Crestron automation audiovisual system touch panels. The master suite is located on the lower deck, along with two twin cabins and two doubles. There is also an additional multi-use cabin with a sofa bed on the main deck.

The O’Neiro is the latest addition to Golden Yachts’ portfolio, with the shipyard completing the 66-metre O’Eva earlier this month, making it a busy period for the Greek shipyard.

Golden yachts releases first renderings of 77m in-build o’rea.

Greek shipyard  Golden Yachts  has revealed the first renderings of its new 77 metre motor yacht  O’Rea .  Currently in build at the yard’s facilities close to Athens, the yacht marks a “new generation” for the builder, which has a fleet of 10 delivered yachts. 

Long-time Golden Yachts collaborator  Giorgio Vafiadis  has penned the yacht’s exterior, giving her a contemporary plumb bow that differs from the flared bows of her sisterships.  Vafiadis also handled the yacht’s interior styling in collaboration with Italian studio  Massari Design . 

Once delivered, the yacht will go on to join the charter fleet with Golden Yachts’ associated brokerage firm  Atalanta Golden Yachts .

Key features of the yacht include a pair of glass-bottom pools on the main deck aft and sun deck, which flood the below areas with natural light. An upper deck lounge features a piano, Lasvit glass chandelier and an extensive audio-visual system that means the space can be used for movie nights.

The yacht offers eight generous guest cabins including a large owner’s cabin with an adjoined private office. 250 finishes, including rich materials and precious stones, have been used throughout. The yacht also includes a beach club equipped with a Finnish sauna, Turkish hammam and massage room. 

O’Rea  is scheduled for delivery in June 2023, and comes after the yard  debuted its 88 metre  Project X  at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. The yacht has also since been  nominated as a finalist in the 2023 Boat International Design and Innovation Awards , in the category of ‘Outstanding Exterior: Motor Yacht 60 metres and Above’.

Golden Yachts launches 78m O'Rea

This is the third completed project at the Greek shipyard in 2023.

Greek-based yacht builder Golden Yachts has announced the launching of a 78-meter O'Rea, its third project since the beginning of the year.

In 2021 Stefano Vafiadis of Golden Yachts was contracted to design the new yacht. He created a unique sloping bow, different from the wide bumps of previous models like O'Pari and O'Ptasia, with an extended trapezoidal window shape.

The main features of the O'Rea yacht are a spacious swimming pool crossing the main deck aft and three skylights below, allowing natural light to enter the spacious living room with a "beach house" view. There is a wellness bar next to the entrance, and the living room has a large U-shaped sofa and spa forward.

Stefano Vafiadis has also taken on the task of designing the yacht's interior with Italian studio Massari Design, which recently collaborated with the shipyard on their flagship X project.

O'Rea offers eight spacious guest staterooms, including a spacious owner's stateroom with an adjacent private office. More than 250 options, including luxury materials and gemstones, have been used in the finishing process.

Superyacht 'Project X' launched in Greece by Golden Yachts

The newest addition to the Golden Yachts fleet has just been launched from their Vouliagmeni yard in Greece . The majestic 88m (289ft) superyacht known as Project X is the second-largest yacht to be launched from the Greek yard, following the celebrated launch of 95-meter superyacht O’PARI in 2020.

The yacht's exterior design has been helmed by British design studio Ken Freivokh. Key features include a curved raked bow and cascading decks culminating in a large beach club area to the aft. A further prominent feature is her triple ‘X’ paneling amidships that conceals a 3-deck atrium connected by a grand circular glass elevator.

The yacht's interiors are the work of Massari Design, who have purportedly re-worked 150 different materials into the guest areas, including rare leathers, marble and wood. 

The yacht places heavy emphasis on alfresco living, which is evident across her 5 cascading decks and includes a 7.5-meter by 3-meter glass-sided swimming pool on her aft main deck and vast beach club featuring comfortable lounging area and bar, alongside a wellness suite with Hammam and Finnish Sauna. 

Her wellness amenities continue up on her sundeck which houses a fully-equipped air conditioned gymnasium promising guests glorious views as they work out.

Her vast 14.8-meter beam will effortlessly accommodate 12 guests across seven luxury cabins, comprising an Owner’s deck complete with private terrace and Jacuzzi and further VIP suite, both housed on her bridge deck. 

The yacht boasts an impressive 6,000 nm mile range at a decent cruising speed of 14 knots, maxing out at 17.5 knots.

She is now ready for final finishing and is expected to begin sea trials in the coming weeks before being delivered to her owner. Upon delivery, It is not yet known whether she will become available for luxury yacht charters .

Golden Yachts is proud to have successfully delivered to date, the 56-metre O’Mathilde (refit), the 46- metre My Eden (refit), the 51-metre Jaz by Amels (refit) and the 56-metre O’Natalina by Picchiotti (refit), all forming part of the shipyards first batch of refit projects.

The company invested in its own project and engineering teams, gearing up for refit projects but also working towards bringing new yacht construction in-house. This came to fruition in 2007 with the launch of the first GY 50 series yacht, O’Ptasia (now Vertigo), O’Neiro and O’Rama.

New shipyard facilities followed in 2010, and in 2011 the award-winning semi-displacement 39.5-metre O’Pati emerged. The 2010s marked a change of pace for Golden Yachts which upped its rhythm with the construction of the 71.85-metre O’Pari3, launched in 2015, the 85-metre O’Ptasia (2018) and the 95-metre O’Pari (2020), all of which confirm the company’s push to significantly larger builds. After the delivery of the 88m PROJECT X (2022) new build projects include the 78m yacht O’REA, the 60m O’EVA and the 35m O’NEIRO.

“Therefore, it takes a really special beach club to impress the judges. And on that score, Project X did not disappoint. It is an innovative space that simultaneously showcases a museum-quality tender, serves as a launch pad for watersports, a lobby lounge for the spa, a games area and provides a lounge experience in its own right. The key element of the warm and welcoming space is a circular seating area the designer describes as a “spinning nest”.

Wooden slats rise up from the backrests and integrate with the haloed ceiling to act as an architectural backdrop. But far from being confining or static, the sofas and their backdrop rotate and split into sections to provide various views through opening hull doors or, alternatively, to allow the stunning bar to be the focus”.

Endorsements | keeping up with the bezoses: mark zuckerberg buys a super yacht, reports say, a report says that zuckerberg’s luxurious new $300 million vessel was originally was commissioned by a russian oligarch who was the target of sanctions imposed after that country’s invasion of ukraine.

Given that Mark Zuckerberg enjoys a respectable 16th place on a list of the world’s richest people, he probably figured it was time for him to acquire one of the ultimate status symbols for the mega-wealthy — a super yacht.

A new report from The Sun said that Zuckerberg is now the proud owner of a $300 million vessel that he has christened “Launchpad.” The 387-foot-long vessel, which comes with a helipad and a $30 million companion boat, was seen docked this week at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with its unique chrome finish reflecting in the sun.

This purchase shows, among other things, that the Facebook and Meta founder and CEO has branched out from buying islands and building an underground complex to help him survive the apocalypse. Perhaps, he wants to cruise the Mediterranean this summer and be among the moguls who can play host to Leonardo DiCaprio.

The yacht definitely grants him admission to the watery playgrounds of such multibillionaires as Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, Bill Gates and any of the Russian oligarchs who haven’t been the target of sanctions imposed by the United States or its allies over Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

In fact, Zuckerberg reportedly came by Launchpad due to the misfortunes of one of those oligarchs. The yacht originally was commissioned to be built by Vladimir Potanin, one of Russia’s richest men who is on multiple sanctions list, according to a report by Autoevolution.com , a transportation industry site. The yacht was known as Project 1010, and the shipbuilder in the Netherlands was legally barred from delivering it to Potanin when it was completed in 2022, though Autoevolution also said that Potanin was not the yacht’s actual owner.

The Sun reported that the yacht recently received “special permission” to be imported. It has since arrived in the United States, a couple months ahead of Zuckerberg’s 40th birthday on May 14 — which raises the question of whether he meant Launchpad as a birthday gift to himself.

It’s quite a gift: Launchpad can comfortably fit 24 guests aboard. It also requires a crew of 48 and is said to cost $30 million a year for upkeep and usage, according to Superyachtfan.com . But shelling out $30 million for maintenance a year shouldn’t be a problem for Zuckerberg, who reportedly earns between $6 million and $12 million a day, The Sun said.

But as spectacular as Launchpad sounds, super yacht fans might say it’s not as spectacular as Jeff Bezos’s super yacht, Koru. The $500 million sailing vessel features very tall masts, a swimming pool, a helipad and room for a second, smaller yacht. The most noteworthy thing about Koru is that Bezos commissioned a special sculpture to decorate its prow. It’s a “curvaceous winged goddess” that is said to bear a striking resemblance to his fiancee Lauren Sanchez.

The Amazon founder, his wife-to-be and the goddess figurehead spent much of last summer sailing around the Mediterranean, cruising from Spain to Croatia and hosting such famous guests as Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom and Usher. The couple also threw a lavish engagement party off the coast of Positano on Italy’s Amalfi coast, attended by another pack of famous friends, including Kris Jenner, Wendi Murdoch and, yes, Leonardo DiCaprio.

Golden Yachts 95 Metre Flagship O'Pari Delivered

Greek yard Golden Yachts has delivered its largest superyacht yet, the 95 metre _O’Pari, _to its owner.

The handover was marked during a celebration on June 26, which was attended by the owner, guests, project team, crew, yard staff and Atalanta Golden Yachts charter managers.

It comes after the yacht was launched near Athens in March this year.  O’Pari  is now the yard’s flagship, eclipsing the 85 metre  O’Ptasia , which was launched in 2018.

Commissioned by an experienced owner,  O’Pari  was designed inside and out by  Studio Vafiadis  and features a 13.8 metre beam and 2,700GT interior.  O'Pari  also features vast outdoor living areas.

O’Pari  will be run by a crew of 28 while charter accommodation is for a total of 12 guests across nine double cabins, four twins and one single.

Power will come from a pair of CAT 3516C-HD 2525kw engines for a maximum speed of 18 knots.
