Azimut Yachts ’s recent launch of the Verve 40 created a whole new category of day boat, a center-console style with a true yacht interior. With its triple 350 hp Mercury Verado engines, the Verve not only reaches a top speed of 44 knots, but has excellent fuel economy, low emissions, and the ability to head into shallow waters that would be impossible for inboard engines. The Verve is also a new take on the typical stark, utilitarian center-console design. Instead of a couple of seats and a bare cockpit, the Verve is an outdoor playpen, with lounges on tracks that separate or come together, an electric folding table that converts to a sunbed, and a complete alfresco galley with twin barbecue, fridge, icemaker, and, thanks to the Italian heritage, a wine cooler. A door at the stern swings open to reveal a mini-beach club. The weekender cabin is more yacht than fishboat, with exceptional wood joinery, 7-foot headroom, and a big stateroom. Add the Seakeeper stabilizers, 10 kW generator, and Raymarine all-glass helm, and you have a complete luxury day boat.

Meet the Azimut Verve 40

Azimut plans to feature its first-ever weekender design, the Verve 40, at the Newport International Boat Show in September and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November.
The Verve 40 is designed to be half traditional walkaround and half day-cruiser. She has a planing hull and triple 350-horsepower Mercury Verado outboards for a cruising speed of 37 knots and a top speed of 45 knots.
Belowdecks, her Canaletto walnut interior includes a sleeping cabin with lockable sliding door, a dinette that converts to a queen-size berth and a galley with a two-burner electric range, refrigerator and convection oven.

Outdoors areas with the feel of a luxury superyacht set this boat apart from its more austere competitors. Instead of the bare and utilitarian spaces usually found on day boats, the Azimut Verve 40 has been blessed with its fair share of opulence and style. A large, teak-lined foredeck is sheltered from the spray thanks to high bulwarks and features a pair of sofas built into a faux-Portuguese bridge setting. There is also a large sunpad out here, large enough to host 2 or 3 sunbathers. Side decks lead back to an aft deck with that unmistakeable Azimut flair. Here there is a teak breakfast table surrounded by an L-shaped transom sofa, with a further rear-facing sofa and a wet-bar console with an electric grill rounding out the space. There are steps down to a swimming platform, but, as this shares space with the engines, most will likely choose to set off on swimming jaunts via the port-side aft door that extends outward to become a mini-bathing platform of its own.
The internal cockpit is open on three-sides but benefits from a sleek hard-top roof for that extra level of shelter. Here you will find a helm station with three comfortable, upholstered seats and integrated, digital control panels by Raymarine and Mercury VesselView. There is also an Axius Joystick, a leather steering wheel, Mercury throttle and shift controls as well as bow thrusters, to ensure that this yacht is a super responsive and agile ride. Azimut Yachts have never been this fun or easy to drive!
Below-deck space boasts Canaletto walnut surrounds, stainless steel fixtures, the extensive use of Italian leather, and plenty of natural light thanks to lozenge-shaped porthole windows. A large kitchen galley features Miele appliances such as a two-burner electric range, a fridge-freezer, a convection oven and, a must on all Italian-made yachts, a spacious wine-cooler. The galley sits across from a dinette with a large dining sofa and an extending, marble-topped table. The table can be easily removed, and sofa turned into a bed, to transform this space into a second berth should you need it. The vessel’s head is also positioned below-deck, and features 7 feet of head clearance, a Belfast sink and a shower cubicle. To the bow is a master stateroom that would not look out of place on a much larger vessel, with room for a king-sized bed with underbed storage.
Triple Mercury Verado Outboard 350MHP engines attached to the rear of the Verve 40 roar the yacht to top speeds of 44 knots, with comfortable cruising in the range of 34 knots. The combination of a shallow V-hull and the outboard motors means that this yacht can trace figures of eight in shallow waters that inboard vessels cannot reach, making it a great option for those who like inland cruising. Seakeeper stabilizers, meanwhile, keep this yacht stable and safe should you wish to take it out for a spin on the high seas.
