The owner’s wishes for this particular Jangada included even lower levels of noise and vibrations, hence the decision to have a steel hull, aluminum superstructure, and high-quality insulation throughout. Twin Seakeeper gyros and Humphree fin stabilizers will also be added to ensure smooth cruising on the high seas.

Inside, the main salon will feature ceilings that measure over eight feet and expansive windows that offer sweeping views. The full-beam owner’s suite will sit forward on the main deck, while cabins for the owner’s children and grandchildren will lie on the lower deck. The interior will be designed to the owner’s tastes, but the yard hasn’t yet shared any details or renders.

The owner also has opted for a few splashy features on the exterior decks. The new Jangada will have a 15-foot jet-stream pool on the flybridge and a plush lounge on the aft deck. An additional seating area in the bow will be precisely positioned to afford vistas of the owner’s home bay on the French Riviera. Jangada will even have a portside passerelle specifically suited to the pontoon height in that area.

Van der Valk has set itself the rather ambitious goal of completing Jangada within just 18 months, meaning the vessel should hit the seas in January 2026. Let’s see if it delivers.

Van der Valk’s Biggest Motoryacht Yet

Van der Valk shipyard in the Netherlands has begun the build process on Project Evo, a fully custom 131-foot motoryacht that will be built entirely in aluminum—and that will be the yard’s largest launch to date.

Exteriors on Project Evo are by SFG Yacht Design and Fancy by Dada. Cristiano Gatto Design is also involved with the project, “adding new length and angles to the profile while also creating an exceptionally detailed interior,” according to a press release from the shipyard. Naval architecture is by Diana Yacht Design and Ginton Naval Architects.

Van der Valk says the owners of Project Evo previously owned several high-performance yachts. They specified a round bilged fast displacement hull and a target top speed of 24 knots. Project Evo will also be built to ABS class, and will be compliant with the latest IMO Tier III emissions regulations.

According to the shipyard, Project Evo “will have an impressive volume for her length.” During the design phase of the project, the team extended the yacht significantly after the owners were inspired by another design by Franco Gianni of SFG Yacht Design and Doga Naz Cebeci from Fancy by Dada.

Cristiano Gatto says his firm initially became involved in the project by working on the layout and interior style, according to the press release: “My participation began on a micro level as we worked with the owners to leverage on some specific furniture design concepts I had previously created. They were looking to recreate a similar ambience on board their yacht, and the interior design emerged from this point. Welcoming the results, the owners asked us to add some of this aesthetic flavor to the exterior design, further evolving the DNA of the preliminary concept penned by SFG and Fancy by Dada. We changed some of the proportions and lines while extending the stern by around two meters. The overall design and profile, however, remains very much the brainchild of all who have been involved.”

From the first renderings to the final drawings took about 10 months, Gatto adds. Limited information is being released about the interiors, but the plans call for a main-deck master stateroom, a pair of VIP staterooms belowdecks, and a pair of twin-berth staterooms. Crew cabins will be in the forepeak next to the mess, and the captain’s cabin will be on the bridge deck.

Is it common for fully custom motoryachts to be built at a length of 131 feet? No. Yoeri Bijker, Van der Valk’s head of sales, stated in the press release: “Van der Valk is one of the few yards with the capacity and flexibility to build fully custom superyachts in this size range. This 40-metre beauty is based upon an existing engineered platform that is proven in terms of naval architecture. Project Evo is a fine example of how clients can come to Van der Valk with their own exterior designers without having to reinvent the wheel with a new hull, safe in the knowledge that their yacht will excel in terms of performance, speed and stability.”

When delivered, ONE will join a fleet of 2101 motor yachts in the 30-35m size range. Compared to similarly sized motor yachts, her volume will be 111.6 GT above the average.

LL is built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel MAN (V12) 1,650hp engines running at 2300rpm, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots with a range of up to 4,000 nautical miles from her 30,000 litre fuel tanks at 10 knots. An advanced stabilisation system on board promises exceptional comfort levels at anchor or on any voyage. Her water tanks store around 4,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) C ✠ HULL ● MACH; Y classification society rules.

A charming explorer.

The beautifully bespoke 23.56-metre Felis benefits from the rich expertise of clients who truly know how to enjoy life on the water all year round. Her sturdy yet charming exterior profile, drawn by Guido de Groot, was inspired by the no-nonsense lines of our explorer range and success stories such as Dutch Falcon, Seawolf and Venera. The rest of Felis is custom designed inside and out, revolving around the specific length required. She has impressive interior volume for a relatively compact size, with comfort assured by a round-bilged steel hull with bulbous bow and the low centre of gravity that comes with an aluminium superstructure.

General Arrangement

Year-round pleasures

It was a true pleasure for us to partner with owner-operator clients who knew exactly what they required having experienced life on a motoryacht in all its many facets before. Felis is meticulously thought out and planned to the smallest detail, as you would expect from a boat designed to be used all year round. Lots of attention was paid to noise & vibration attenuation and self-sufficiency, with low fuel consumption and a range that facilitates lengthy spells away from busy ports. Heavy-duty 1800 rpm MAN industrial engines with RCD 2 approval add to the exceptional degree of autonomy. The engine room is easily accessible because the owners mostly drive Felis themselves.

Style and comfort

The light and airy interior – another fine achievement by Guido & his team and the Van der Valk craftsmen – is stylish and cosy in equal measure. Felis features a wealth of small details, exquisite joinery work, and integrated lighting and handrails within a superb layout that optimises all available space. Light materials make for a fresh and airy atmosphere, with darker accents such as walnut adding a rustic feel. Bookshelves and niches are designed to make the boat feel ‘home like’, as do the wooden strips blended into the flat panels of the walls.

Interaction for all

The galley is the social hub on Felis with the rest of the interior designed around it. The owners love cooking for and with the family, which is why this ‘country kitchen’ is seamlessly merged with the open-plan lounge and dining areas in a unified inviting whole. Further interaction is enabled by a skylight that opens up to the flybridge so the chefs can talk food with those a deck above. The wheelhouse is another place to gather with an extra settee enabling people to join the helm action when underway. From smart drawers to handy pockets, the owners have again utilised every inch.

Space master

The same applies to the impressive accommodations on the lower deck, where every space is optimised for storage. The generous master suite is full beam, with a bedroom to starboard and bathroom to port; sliding doors open up to form one large area. Style meets function in a three-berth cabin, with a bunk bed and pullman incorporated in such a way that each has its own cupboard area. Felis also has a twin suite, plus a fourth guest cabin located forward that makes the very most of the limited bow volume and extra height of the foredeck. With an additional skylight, this is a layout puzzle superbly solved and a further sign of the exceptional custom effort for a 24-metre yacht.
