The Manhattan Hotel at Times Square

Exactly located in Time square and broadway.. staffs are nice and helpful.. facilities are bit old but still great and nice.. the price is reasonable for the hotel located in the heart of New York

Overall, very nice stay as I love the room. High standard considering it's New York City.

Love Yotel New york. Place is walking distance to Broadway and staffs are friendly. Overall good stay

Just for location, ease of check in and out, quality of facilities, and really cool vibe, this has been one of the best stays in New York I've ever experienced!

Our stay at the City Club Hotel was in two words amazing . I can not think how they could improve on it , it was flawless . I had read that the rooms were small but man are they well thought out , every amenity you could want and never once did we feel cramped .The bathroom was simply wonderful with the best shower I may have ever taken , didn't want to get out . I had read that the rooms were small but man are they well thought out , every amenity you could want and never once did we feel cramped .The bathroom was simply wonderful with the best shower I may have ever taken , didn't want to get out . We traveled with our two dogs and every member of the staff was an animal lover and were just so friendly to my dogs! There is a park two blocks away on 42nd st for the dogs to do their bussiness . The location of course is ideal to take in a show and everything from the best New York delis to fine dining options all around you . I know I will never stay at any other hotel in New York if I happen to return there .

Unfortunately staff was extremely rude and not helpful at all. When I booked the hotel according to Agoda site, check in started from 3pm. At the hotel we were informed that this was wrong (check in was at 4pm) and were asked to pay $50 to check in early (one hour early!!!). Of course we didn’t. I understand that every hotel has their policies however the attitude of the reception staff was so bad that ruined our first day there. Also If check in is at 4pm then basically you pay for a full day that you don’t even get to use the room. Very disappointing service. Would definitely avoid!!!

The room was always cleaned to perfection. Staff could not be any more friendly and helpful . Fantastic hotel all round, thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to anybody travelling to New York. It’s a must! Thank you for the best stay.

Excellent location for visiting New York. Staff super friendly and helpful. Very clean hotel and the bedrooms were sound proof you would not think you were in Times Square!!!! Bar and restaurant pricey as we had 3 children with us but we found Connolly's Irish Restaurant and Bar nearby amazing value with fantastic food and staff.

Great location, decent price for New York, slightly noisy air-conditioning, room a bit small but probably average for New York, minimal hotel facilities but offers a gym walking distance away from the hotel, no pool/spa/sauna/games room. $30/day Extra fee charged to force you to drink 2 drinks at the hotel bar, but we met some nice people there (other "forced" guests)....

Belvedere Hotel

We had a great time during our short stay. The staff is great. The room was very clean, big (I have been to other hotels in the area and the rooms are small!) , and comfy. Let’s just say my daughter didn’t want to leave and we will be taking another weekend trip to the Belvedere!

The Gregory Hotel

The best thing about the hotel is that they have the best group of staff at the front desk. Helpful and very friendly (especially Bogdan). KIMPTON HOTEL THETA

Hilton hotel is good location in New York City to travel in Manhattan city by subway or city tour. Small room but clean and safe for all. Hotel cost is pretty expensive.

Never being in New York before, not sure what hotel to pick. Did some research and picked Hotel Edison and I was extremely happy. Close to so many restaurants, theatres and attractions including Times Square.

Reception

I was very happy that my room was upgrade. I was received by the warmth welcome from Mr Mamuka and Miss Isha Jihan and I just feel that Paramount Hotel is my second home. I was there end of October 2018 and it was fantastic to see the Halloween Event. Thank you and best regards MOCHSIDDIK

It was also a short walk to the airport bus terminal which saves $40 on a taxi fare. I would definitely stay here again when next in New York.

Awesome room size for New York, great location for theatre goers, and whilst close to Times Square if that's what you want, far enough away to avoid. Very disappointed with the supposedly "heavenly" bath. I'm 5'7 and had more of me out of the water than in, which was the whole reason I booked this hotel (room 4430).

The location is the best, everything is walkable, so close, so convenient, very reasonable rates for being in the middle of everything, literally across the street from Radio City Music Hall and a few blocks from Times Square. The room was sparkling clean, spacious, included a table and 2 chairs, updated bathroom, and a full kitchen! Wow, didn't expect but we used. Staff was very friendly, helpful, professional and knowledgeable. The Italian restaurant attached to the hotel was great as were all the restaurants within a block. We saw a Broadway show that took all of 7 minutes to walk to. We even walked to Hudson Yards and climbed the Vessel. We arrived and left taking a bus from near Penn Station and even walked to that. The only time we needed the Subway (entrance one block away) was to get to Battery Place for Liberty and Ellis Islands. Would highly recommend!

Interior view

It located between 5th and broadway. Very convenient. The hotel has been renovated, different from lots of the hotels in New York which are pretty old. Pretty comfortable staying there. The price is reasonable and I would recommend anyone looking for convenient and reasonable price hotel.

Professional service from the staffs, they provide hot water, tea coffee at the lobby. Very useful considering a lot American hotels does not provide kettle in the room. Improvements that I believe could do would be the size of breakfast dining area. Considering you have close to 20 floors with about 4 rooms each level, the dining area is really small with some mornings out of our 5 days stay we couldn't get seats and had to stand by tables to wait for others to finish. Extremely long wait during peak time for lifts as well because there are only 2 elevators. We had king bed room and it was quite small as compare to other American hotels. Not much soace for 2 Asians to move around. Our first visit to New York not sure if this is what the city offers generally.

Hudson River Hotel

My wife went to NYC to see a broadway show, and were were looking for an inexpensive (relatively) hotel. We wanted to be close to both the theater and Penn station so we wouldn't have to worry about taxis or the subway. The Quality Inn met all our criteria, and we had an excellent experience. This hotel is located just a few blocks from Penn Station, and just a few more blocks from Times Square. You could easily walk right from your room to major areas of New York like the Empire State Building, Broadway, Times Square, and plenty of shopping and nightlife. The exact location is just a bit off the beaten trail in an area that looks pretty rundown, but there are no dark alleys you need to walk down to get here, only major roads, and we felt safe walking to and from this location even at night. The room was tiny, but that is to be expected from a city hotel, especially one at this price point. The room and bed were clean, comfortable, and warm. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We were checked in quickly, and about 15 minutes after arriving we got a call asking us if everything was to our satisfaction or if there was anything else we needed. I was impressed with the extra little bit of attention. If you're looking for a budget hotel in NYC for an event or sightseeing, I highly recommend the Quality Inn for a good sleep without breaking your budget.

Of all the hotels I've stayed in NYC along the years, this is by far the best value for money hotel in this great location with a decent room and the best service and free breakfast. Will def stay here if visit again

Small but very clean rooms in a perfect location for first time visitors to New York. It's a pretty busy area so expect some noise but it's also incredibly well located to so many attractions.

The room in best western are more modernized looking and they are a bit bigger. The lobby is much bigger with ample of sitting area and we can get free ice and water from bar. The location is best as it is just in the middle of everything. It is very convenient that we can just buy chocolates from Hershey's which is at the corner of street and later drop off in hotel. The hotel is very flexible in allowing us to deposit luggage there. We went to niagara fall the day before checking into best western and best western allow us to deposit bag for $1 per bag per day. It saved us more baggage money than bringing it on the the domestic flight which will cost us $25 per baggage. Staff service is fair. I have booked 2 rooms and one of the room is king sized bed. They didn't informed me clearly which room is the king sized bed until I probe further. My aircon remote is not working hence we need to manually off and on the aircon by digging our hand into aircon switch. Hair dryer is not good condition. It automatically does not work if the toilet is humid. But overall experience is fine .

Photos: Inside the Exclusive New York Yacht Club in NYC

new york yacht club accommodation

Located on 37 West 44th Street, the New York City Yacht Club is a private social and yachting club founded by a prominent New Yorker named John Cox Stevens. Originated on July 30th, 1844, the original purpose of the club was simple: to race sailing yachts. Today, the club is composed of over 3,000 members dedicated to both yacht racing and design. As one of New York’s most elite social clubs, membership to the NYYC is very exclusive which makes photos hard to come by, but we were able to get a look inside the stunning club.

The club was first started during an outing on Steven’s own yacht Gimcrack with eight friends. On that boat, anchored in New York Harbor, the group developed their idea to form the NYYC. They designated Stevens as commodore, and three days later, announced their launching of a yacht club cruise to Newport, Rhode Island : the beginning of the historical connection between these two cities. In 1845, the NYYC’s first clubhouse was built on land granted by Stevens in Hoboken, NJ, in close proximity to the Hudson River.

The opening of the Gothic-styled clubhouse was followed by the club’s first regatta. This turned into the club’s first tradition of the “Annual Regatta,” occurring every year with exception of a few drastic events in American history: the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World War I and II. Today, the NYYC is looking on its 163rd Annual Regatta.

A few years after the opening of the NYYC, Stevens and other club members bought the schooner-yacht America. In 1851, they sailed it to the Isle of Wight in the Solent- a hotbed for yachting in England . They entered a free-for-all around the Isle of Wight, of which they won the Royal Yacht Squadron’s “Hundred Guinea Cup,” further solidifying their title’s as founders of the NYYC. The trophy of the race was donated to the NYYC in 1857, renaming it the “ America’s Cup .” It was meant to be used as a challenge cup for honorable racing between nations. From this point forward, NYYC boats won 81 of 93 races held at the club, often regarded as the longest winning streak in all sports.

Around 1898, member Commodore J. Pierpont Morgan donated three lots on West 44th Street to build an entirely new clubhouse. Now 116 years old, the building was constructed in the beaux-arts style by Whitney Warren and Charles D. Wetmore. It first opened in 1901, and is most renowned for its Model Room and library. A number of races and traditions followed the establishment of the new clubhouse, including the Disabled World Sailing Championship, the Rolex IMS Offshore World Championship, and the Rolex Transatlantic Challenge. Today, the NYYC remains one of the oldest and most exclusive yacht clubs in the world.

The Algonquin, an Autograph Collection Hotel

Located close to the bustling heart of Times Square and Fifth Avenue, this jewel of historic New York hotels has long entertained the city’s literary and cultural elite, as well as those who delight in creating their own unique stories.

1902 The algonquin opens

The Algonquin opened on November 22, 1902. Single rooms cost $2 dollars a night while larger three-bedroom accommodations cost $10. The hotel was originally planned to be residential but found short term guests to be more profitable. Frank Case is the hotel’s first General Manager. He eventually buys the hotel and continues to run it until his death in 1946.

1904 The annex

The two story horse stable next to the Algonquin was purchased. A year later the third floor was added. Over the years the annex housed a barber shop, apartments, a supper club, a rehearsal studio, and several different restaurants.

1919 The round table’s first lunch

In the summer of 1919 a group of writers met in the Pergola Room for a party and came to have lunch at the Algonquin every day after that for the next 10 years. Frank Case moved them out into the main dining and the world was introduced for the Vicious Circle.

1923 The first resident cat

Billy the cat was a very friendly feline that lived in the hotel for 15 years. Two days after his death a stray cat wandered in looking for food. Frank Case immediately adopted the cat and named him Rusty. He was eventually renamed Hamlet and begins the long lineage of cats that live in the hotel.

1925 The new yorker is founded

After winning a handsome amount of money in a poker game against other Round Table Members, Harold Ross finances and creates The New Yorker.

1933 Blue Bar Opens

When prohibition ends Frank Case reopens the bar in the hotel. John Barrymore convinces Case to place blue gels over the lights as one looks more attractive under such lighting. The Blue Bar has been a part of the hotel since.

1936 New york drama critics circle awards

On March 25, 1936 the members of the Critics Circle meet and argue for three hours in a room in the hotel trying to vote for a winner. A week later, during a dinner reception at The Algonquin, the award is presented to Maxwell Ansderson’s Winterset.

1946 The bodne’s purchase the algonquin

In 1924, Ben and Mary Bodne honeymoon at The Algonquin and fall in love with the hotel. Ben promised his new bride he will buy it for her one day. When Frank Case passed away in 1946 and the hotel was put up for sale, Ben Bodne purchases the hotel fulfilling his promise.

1981 The oak room

The Oak Room opens as a cabaret bringing a new era to The Algonquin. The Oak Room launches the careers for Harry Connick Jr., Diana Krall, Michael Feinstein, Peter Cincotti and Andrea Marcovicci.

2004 The $10,000 martini

A young gentleman pops the question to his girlfriend in big style and purchases the first ever $10,000 Martini. He surprises her in the Blue Bar and she immediately accepts. When all is said and done the proposal cost almost $13,000.

2012 The modern algonquin

The hotel closes for nine months and undergoes a complete top to bottom $5 million renovation. The hotel reopens with a stunning new look designed by famed designer Alexandra Champalimaud.
