This Australian design is a large-volume 25ft trailer sailer. A couple of hundred were built down under but only 50 or so here by Moore’s of Wroxham from 1980. Later a much-improved version was built by Brue Yachts and called the Brue Arrow. For trailing, the B-25 had a deep, fine keel with a lead bulb and hydraulic lifting, a narrow hull and buoyant stern sections. However, she was too big and unwieldy for regular trailing. The interior has five berths in an open-plan layout but the quateberth is for children only. The galley is effective but the chart table is rudimentar. She is easy to sail but she is not a heavy weather boat. Brue Arrows have a Collins Tandern keel and twin rudders which greatly improves performance in all conditions.

B-25: The First Sportboat

After winning a string of races with the first boat, Beiley put the design in production in 1988. Widely regarded as the first sport boat, the B-25 uses marine plywood for bulkheads and ring frames, and Kevlar with epoxy over a PVC foam core for the hull, all of which means a light, stiff hull. The deck is cored with end-grain balsa, so beware of soft spots. The lifting keel allows for easy launching and retrieval. Martin 242 owners have found that outboards between 3.3 and 4 horsepower mounted on a bracket on the boat’s closed transom work well.The interior of the B-25 is simple, with a V-berth forward, and settees to port and starboard in the main cabin. The designer’s goal for the interior was to make it as light as possible, and he succeeded. The cabin sole is a teak and holly veneer over Verticell honeycomb; the weight of the components that make up the interior is around 50 pounds. Beiley, in an interview posted on his company’s website, www.bravurayachts.com, explains what he’d do different if he designed the B-25 today, it serves as a guide for those interested in buying a used B-25 and turbo-charging it for PHRF racing. “I would give it a bit more sail area, masthead kites and a bow pole,” says Beiley. The transom-hung rudder was re-designed by Beiley in 1999, and he says that almost every buyer of a used B-25 orders one of the new deeper, thinner, lighter rudders, which are made of a carbon/epoxy composite because they’re “so much better.”The B-25 has done well in mixed fleet racing around its home territories on the West Coast, but a few have shown up at Key West Race Week over the years and done well in PHRF. AUGUSTA MARINE CERTIFIED means we performed a complete engine service to give you peace of mind with your purchase.  All boat, engine and trailer systems have passed our rigorous 35 point service testing and inspection prior to this posting. We performed the service on this outboard to include NEW fuel filters, 2 new fuel pumps, trim tab, lower unit service with impeller and gear lube.  Engine compression is in spec on all cylinders (125), (125), (125), (125), (115), (120).  We also rebuilt carbs including gaskets and floats and adjusted as necessary.  We replaced the trim sender  for the power trim gauge. We serviced the trailer including replacing all 4 tires & wheels and repacked all 4 wheel bearings. We also replaced the submersible trailer tail lights and 5-way connector. We also replaced the battery with a new Deka 1000 Crank.  Note:- The VHF radio does not work and was not repaired or replaced.

Per the seller the upholstery is like new, and the carpet is in good condition. It comes with a Cajun branded canvas in good condition. The boat engine was last serviced in 2013 and has less than 25 hours on it since, the owner confirms. Stock #250880 1997 CAJUN 171 BASS BOAT, SUZUKI 115 2-STROKE ENGINE, INCLUDES TRAILER Yes, this is a Bass Boat, but it's so much more. The seller used it to fish with of course, but he also used it for skiing and tubing! It has a ski pylon that fits into the stern fishing seat anchor for pulling skiers and towables. The boat is quick and easy to turn, powered by a 115 HP Suzuki motor that the seller estimates has less than 500 total hours. It is a 2-stroke motor that has an oil mixing tank. Top speed for the boat is around 63 MPH. It comes with two depth/fish finders. There is a Lowrance x-25B at the console, and a Lowrance Magna Eagle III at the bow. The trolling motor is a Motor Guide 743 with 43 Lbs of thrust. There are two batteries: A starting battery, and a deep cycle battery for trolling. Seller says there is a possibility of delivery. Unbridled Sailing first dove in to sailing B25s a few years ago with #30. After a complete rebuild on the boat, we needed some new sails. Working in Computational Fluid Dynamics, we have come up with what we beleive to be the fastest, easiest to sail setup out there. The Genoa is low aspect and cut fuller to allow it to stay powered up in a wide range, however, by playing the halyard you can flatten it out or just as easy, power it up. The main was found to be too weak, we went with 10% over on the roach, this should be voted on for class acceptance, MANY OTHER SAILMAKERS ARE ALREADY DOING THIS. If your main has 2 full battens, more than likely it fits in that box. The combo of #1 and Main is very fast, yet easy to get right. The results against any other B we have sailed against speak for themselves. We are currently developing a bow sprit kit for Hull#1, and will make this available soon to make your B more FUN! The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. An abandoned, burned boat and 2 missing men: South African authorities investigate maritime mystery

CAPE TOWN, South Africa — South African authorities searching for a missing charter boat captain are concerned about possible foul play after they discovered his vessel burned and abandoned on a beach in neighboring Mozambique, but no sign of him or the unknown man who hired him.

The National Sea Rescue Institute raised the alarm over captain John Matambu and his passenger after they didn’t return to Sodwana Bay on South Africa’s northeastern coast on Saturday evening having gone out early that morning.

The charred wreck of Matambu’s speed boat, Magnum Too, was discovered by a search plane on Sunday in the Dobela area of Mozambique, some 170 kilometers (105 miles) up the coast.

“Both men remain missing in unknown circumstances,” the National Sea Rescue Institute said.

Matambu’s cousin told local media that a petrol canister and a medical kit were found near the boat.

The NSRI said some of the circumstances “appear to indicate that foul play may be involved.”

The man who hired Matambu to take him out on the 21-foot (6.4-meter) boat apparently gave false contact details, NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon said. The booking was made for a man, his wife and a child, but only the man boarded the boat, Lambinon said.

“Hopes are that this has all been a misunderstanding, and foul play was not involved, but at this stage all possibilities are being examined,” Lambinon told national broadcaster SABC. “The fact that the boat has been found across the border is obviously the difficulty now.”

The NSRI received a report that the boat was spotted at 10 p.m. Saturday night heading north toward Mozambican waters, it said, the last sighting before its charred hull was discovered the following day.

The Police Sea Borderline Control agency and the Police Search and Rescue unit are also involved in the search. Authorities described Matambu as a well-known, experienced and respected boat captain in Sodwana Bay.
