ICON Yacht – The Incredible $75M Superyacht

The ICON yacht is a 67-metre (221 ft) luxury yacht built by the Dutch shipyard Icon Yachts (Studio Linse) in 2009 as their first project.

She can welcome up to twelve guests in seven cabins and was last refitted in 2014, during which the vessel was extended by 5 metres.

She is currently available for charter for $500,000 per week.

Twelve guests find space in seven cabins inside ICON. Her interior was designed by Studio Linse at the shipyard where she was built.

Her master suite is split across two levels and is unusually spacious for a yacht her size.

A Hammam, sauna, pool, and spa facilities are available on board for the comfort of the guests. Seventeen crew members find space in below-deck accommodation.

The yacht also carries a wide variety of water toys, including two regular and one stand-up jet ski, scuba diving equipment, an inflatable platform, sea bobs, water skis, wakeboards, kayaks, and paddleboards.

The ICON yacht also has three tenders that can take guests to the mainland or on excursions if required.

The interior of ICON is classy and timeless, with minimalist elements and high-quality furnishings.

Natural tones and creme upholstery throughout the vessel make the yacht appear upscale and luxurious.

Specifications

ICON is 67 meters (221 ft) long with an 11.40 meter (37.4 ft) beam and a 3.80 (12.5 ft) meter draft.

She weighs 1295 tons and comfortably cruises at 13 knots which allows her to have a total range of 4,000 nautical miles.

Her maximum speed lies at 15 knots, and she is powered by MTU engines . 

RWD Design Studio worked on the exterior of ICON. They specialize in elegant and comprehensive yacht designs of mid-sized to large yachts.

She has a beautiful black and white exterior with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure.

She features a beach club that opens up onto the swimming platform and a beautiful infinity pool on the aft deck. Her top deck has a jacuzzi and cozy seating areas for guests.

Despite not being one the largest yachts in the world, ICON actually has fantastic deck space with generous areas reserved for sunbathing and relaxing.

Her previous owner paid a reported price of US $50 million for ICON in 2009 and is rumored to have listed the yacht for sale for US $55 million in 2016.

The yacht is available for charter at a weekly rate of US $500,000.

M/Y ‘Icon’ reduced by €10 million since mid-2016

Despite an extensive, value-adding refit in 2014, the 67.5m motoryacht has dropped in price by a further €4 million….

M/Y Icon , the 67.5m Icon Yachts build, has been a lively central agency listing since coming back onto the market in June 2016 with Jean-Marie Récamier of Camper & Nicholsons – at the time listed for sale at €62.5 million.

She underwent a €6 million price reduction in September 2016 in an attempt to spur some interest at the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS). She was berthed on the end of Quai des Etats Unis – E01, one of the largest berths on the north side of Port Hercule, with the surrounding pier lending itself as a viewing platform for the bustling local brokerage stands – and looked almost guaranteed to be sold by Christmas.

But, an additional €4 million price cut now sees her asking €52.5 million, with the addition of Fraser Yachts as co-central agents. “The new asking price is a strong message that the owner will be considering offers, so if someone did want to make an offer on the yacht, now is the perfect time,” explains Récamier.

Icon was commissioned by the owner of Icon Yachts and delivered in 2010. The current owner bought the shipyard and the vessel in 2014, subsequently engaging Icon in an extensive refit that saw her undergo a five-metre main deck protraction, allowing for a swimming pool extension, expanded beach club area, a larger gym, a new Hammam and a sauna. The extension not only saw Icon increase in size, but gave the vessel a significantly improved look and “added considerable value,” according to Récamier,

“She’s proven her seaworthiness. She achieved the highest charter income out of any yacht this size in the industry last year. She did 93 days of charter on top of the owner’s use, so she has very good potential. She could have done well over 100 days if the owner hadn’t used her,” he adds.

Despite a shortage of yachts between 65 – 70m on the market, there are actually three other yachts in this LOA category that were also built in 2010 and are for sale. Nobiskrug’s Sycara V is priced at Icon’s initial listing price of €62.5 million and the two Codecasa builds, Family Day at €39.5 million and Double Down at $46.55 million.

The disparity between the asking prices is well-defined, but with Icon’s value-adding refit in 2014, her decline in price and her impressive commercial record, her position on the market looks increasingly competitive.

Who is Ajay Thakore? San Diego Lamborghini Yacht owner threatens dock worker in viral video

A n Indian-origin California business owner Ajay Thakore recently made headlines when he reportedly threatened a dockyard worker at San Diego's Marriott Marina after the latter refused to let the former park his $4.5 million Lamborghini Yacht, as per Times Now News.

The video of the incident has now gone viral online. While the face of the man threatening the dock employee saying "I will kill you!" multiple times remains unclear in the footage, many media outlets, including the New York Post confirmed it was Ajay Thakore, who has previously been part of similar confrontations.

Apart from threatening to kill the dock worker, the man in the video also flashed at the latter, as the yacht moved away from the marina. In the wake of this incident, here's looking at who Ajay Thakore is.

Ajay Thakore also goes by the name Ace Rogers

According to Daily Mail, Ajay Thakore also goes by the name Ace Rogers and he is a wealthy businessman and philanthropist based in San Diego, California. He is the CEO of Doctor Multimedia, a local medical marketing agency, and Gopher Media LLC.

He has previously faced similar controversy in 2021 when he was accused of harassing the employees of a La Jolla pizza joint called American Pizza Manufacturing. Its founder Andrew Melone alleged back then that it all started with Thakore defaming the take-and-bake pizza establishment on social media.

However, things escalated when the Indian-origin business owner reportedly parked two of his cars directly in front of the eatery, blocking its entrance, with texts, "Take N Bake Pizza Sucks" glaring on top of it.

Melone also claimed that an airplane flew over the locality with the banner reading, "Just Say No to Take N Bake Pizza." Not only that but Ajay Thakore reportedly involved another pizzeria in the area Carino's, with planes displaying messages like "Carino's Pizza is Better than Take N Bake."

Additionally, Thakore and his companies filed a $10 million lawsuit against Andrew Melone and his public accusations, claiming that they were "exercising their First Amendment Rights" and protesting against discrimination. The owner of the pizzeria countersued, alleging Thakore had persistently harassed him and his company. The two civil lawsuits are still underway.

Exploring the recent controversy surrounding Ajay Thakore

On the afternoon of March 10, 2024, Ajay Thakore's multimillion-dollar Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht was not allowed to park in the Seaforth Boat Rental lot in San Diego's Marriott Marina. He was reportedly there to pick up an employee. The video of the incident has now gone viral.

It shows a man standing on the edge of the yacht threatening to "kill" the worker identified as Joseph Holt, as per CBS 8. Later, as the boat moved away from the dock, the former dropped his pants and made inappropriate gestures toward the 21-year-old employee. The harasser even threw $100 bills at the guy which fell into the water.

Holt told reporters that he "respectfully" told the driver not to park in the private space and was hoping to have a "conversation" with him about his "cool boat," when "it completely went the other way."

"I really didn't know how to process it. I really was trying to restrain myself from getting fired from my job or stepping out of line. The only thing I did was give him the bird," Holt stated.

The employee also mentioned how Thakore berated him for his minimum wage labor and called him a nobody who did nothing on a "silly job." The expensive boat owner allegedly threatened to have him fired using his "connections" and ruin his life.

The dock worker further continued,

"He had dropped his pants and started to make gestures to everybody watching and me. You can't act that way in public. It's just not okay. Especially threatening my life, at the very least. There were women and children there. That's the most important part."

In contrast, Ajay Thakore's public relations team told CBS 8 that the "interaction" was "regrettable."

"What started as a minor misunderstanding escalated into an argument, and I apologize for my actions and to those who witnessed the unfortunate exchange," the statement added.

Later, Ajay Thakore's employee Jason, whom the former was supposed to pick up during the fiasco, also issued a clarification via his boss' Instagram (@acerogersceo). He said that he was not allowed to get aboard, and was asked to "stand back" and even "forearmed" which is when Thakore allegedly "flipped" as he was protective of him, his fiancé, and his other employees, tagging it as a long-drawn misunderstanding.

In the caption of the post, it was Ajay Thakore who seemed to issue a statement:

"As a leader, I defend my own fiercely with everything I have, and I will never apologize for that. You can choose to believe that I just pulled up to the dock and started yelling, or you can realize that a lot happened before the cameras were rolling and that it takes two sides to escalate a situation."

Notably, in the aftermath of the incident, Port of San Diego Harbor Police were called in, who arrived 10 minutes after Ajay Thakore's boat left the marina. Joseph Holt told the news outlet that the officers didn't take his complaints seriously and were even laughing at him.

The department responded by telling CBS 8 that they were called in to deal with a "possible intoxicated vessel operator" who had departed the area before they got there and that they were unable to do anything with. The statement went on to say that a report had been made and that the police had spoken with the complainant and witnesses.

A California yacht owner's vicious beef with a dock worker has reached death-threat levels -- and their exchange was caught on camera and included a nude, and very rude, gesture!

Check out the clip ... it all unfolds when San Diego entrepreneur Ajay Thakore swings by the swanky Marriott Marquis Marina in his rare $4.5M Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 yacht to pick up one of his employees -- but things boil over when dock worker Joseph Holt tells him he can't be there.

Thakore, the CEO of medical advertising firm Doctor Multimedia, flips out on Holt big time ... and starts spewing threats like, "I will kill you, you know I will kill you, I will kill."

And it doesn't stop there -- as Thakore's pulling out of the harbor, he drops trou to make a full frontal salute in Holt's direction. Stay classy, San Diego!

Holt's only retaliation was flipping the bird, and he later told CBS8 that was all he could do to keep his cool and avoid escalating the situation.

Holt says parts of the altercation were not captured on camera, and he adds ... Thakore not only threatened to kill him, but also claimed to have connections who could totally mess up his life.

Holt also says Thakore pulled out $100 bills and tossed them at him, even chucking some in the water.

Icon Yachts presents 64m concept Mission

Dutch yard Icon Yachts has lifted the lid on a new 63.9-metre expedition yacht concept during the Monaco Yacht Show . Named Mission, the hardy explorer comes from the drawing boards of Bernd Weel Design and would be capable of carrying six tenders and RIBS, plus a submersible for three passengers and an Airbus H130.

The yacht has an innovative design that centres around modular elements which can be altered and adapted according to the use of the vessel. A representative of Icon explained: "The use of containers allows owners or special charters to adapt the vessel to their evolving needs by incorporating modular areas within or onboard the yacht".

Containers could include scientific research equipment or surplus water toys and tenders and "these dual scenarios can coexist seamlessly without altering the vessel's primary purpose". The containers would be stored in a hexagonal-styled mid-section of the vessel.

The 1,800 GT Mission has been designed with both private and commercial use in mind and can accommodate between 12 to 18 guests depending on the client. The vessel has been envisioned with a crew of 18,  plus six supernumeraries.

"The project embodies an 'experience-focused' design, meaning the vessel is designed to facilitate specialised expeditions, exploration, and yacht cruises," explained Bernd Weel, of the eponymous studio. "As for the exterior design, it showcases geometrical elements characterized by strong, defined lines. Our inspiration stemmed from outdoor products designed to withstand tough expeditions and SUV’s capable of carrying various cargo items. The result is a robust, 'go-anywhere' design with a contemporary and modern appearance."

"Mission represents Icon's commitment to innovation and purpose-driven travel," said Micca Ferrero, owner of Icon Yachts. "It redefines what an explorer yacht can achieve – from sustainability and modularity to profound experiential impact. We're proud to set new benchmarks and lead the way in supporting sustainable exploration."

Mission would have a cruising speed of 12 knots and a 6,000 nautical mile range.

Cybertruck engineer asks Tesla owners to please stop beating up the 'tortured' truck

• Cybertruck owners have been subjecting the vehicle to various damage tests, including shooting it.
• Wes Morrill, a Tesla engineer, called on Wednesday for owners to stop beating up the truck.
• Tesla CEO Elon Musk has marketed the Cybertruck as "apocalypse-proof."

Don't be surprised if you see a brand-new Cybertruck rolling around town with some bullet wounds or a cracked window.

Over the past few months, Cybertruck owners have been putting their trucks through a battery of tests — including taking the vehicle through windshield-high waters, shooting it with an AR-15 , throwing a metal ball at the windows, and taking it off-roading . These are just some of the many battle scars the vehicles have suffered at the hands of new owners curious to test their toughness.

Wes Morrill, a Cybertruck engineer, called on Wednesday for an end to the experiments.

For most people who purchase a nearly $100,000 vehicle , their first thought probably wouldn't be to see whether they could break it, but in some ways, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has encouraged this instinct. He's done public demonstrations looking to highlight its durability and more recently commented on some videos of the destruction online while marketing the vehicle as '"tough" and " apocalypse-proof ."

Musk said last year that the truck was bulletproof to 9 mm and .22-caliber firearms. He's also said that while the standard version of the truck won't have bulletproof glass, Tesla will offer a version of the truck with thicker fixed-pane glass windows . So far, that feature has yet to be seen.

Here are just a handful of beatings the truck has gone through publicly:

Zack Nelson from JerryRigEverything took a torch and a variety of firearms to the truck, including a .50-caliber weapon.

Tesla Owners Silicon Valley threw a steel ball at the Cybertruck. (The video is an apparent homage to the truck's debut when Tesla's design chief, Franz von Holzhausen, threw a metal ball at the vehicle.)

Tesla shared a clip of the truck scaling a steep off-road trail . Some owners have followed suit, with varying degrees of success.

Jason Cammisa, an auto reporter, took a sledgehammer to the Cybertruck. (Musk did a similar test when the vehicle was first announced.)

The YouTuber TechRax took the truck into waters that were as high as its windshield to test out Cybertruck Wade Mode .

A group of Tesla fans tried to beat the truck up by kicking it .

For those who have successfully damaged their Cybertrucks in various tests, it's not clear how many have since taken the vehicles in for repair.

For now, Cybertruck owners may be content to live with "the badge of honor" that is a dent from a bullet or a banged-up door, as Morrill said on X. Nelson previously told Business Insider he planned to leave some of the bullet wounds from his experiment "because they look cool."
