Formerly known as the 'Keri Lee III' , the M/Y Thalassa is a luxury yacht built in 2001. The yacht's length is 181' / 55.17m, with a cruising speed of 12.5 Knots. It can accommodate up to 12 guests in its 6 cabins, including one master suite, one VIP cabin, and four double cabins. With interior design by Claudette Bonville, the yacht's features include a beauty salon, movie theatre, and gym. It also has a deck jacuzzi, two Yamaha WaveRunners, as well as scuba diving equipment, wakeboards, and kayaks. For those looking to live out the ultimate 'Below Deck Down Under' experience, the yacht can be chartered for $223,000+ expenses for a week.

What can fans expect from 'Below Deck Down Under'?

It looks like fans can expect a whole lot of action on this season of 'Below Deck Down Under'. As per the synopsis of the series, "Set against the stunning backdrop of the tropical Whitsunday Islands and world-famous Great Barrier Reef in northeastern Australia, the Peacock Original series Below Deck Down Under explores the complex, often explosive dynamics of the crew and a rotating group of demanding charter guests on M/Y Thalassa. This season, Captain Jason Chambers is joined by a familiar face, fan-favorite Aesha Scott as Chief Stew, along with newcomers Chef Ryan McKeown and Bosun Jamie Sayed."

"Stews Tumi Mhlongo and Magda Ziomek are also on board with deckhands Culver Bradbury, Brittini Burton, and Ben Crawley. Setting the tone for the entire crew, the youthful, charming new captain has a hands-on leadership approach and will do whatever it takes to make sure the guests have an unforgettable vacation, including mesmerizing under-water excursions like scuba diving, snorkeling, and some close encounters with marine life. Though the dynamics on board are initially smooth sailing, a boatload of problems bubble up when the Chef immediately falls out of sync with the Chief Stew. The deck team also hits rocky waters when the Bosun's firm management style is called into question by a free-spirited team member with an aversion to rules. Meanwhile on the interior, Chief Stew Aesha learns the hard way that not everyone on her team will be motivated by her friend-first work mentality. Between charters, the yachties blow off steam by taking full advantage of Australia's world-renowned nightlife, where drama, surprising flirtations, and wild adventures heat up their well-deserved nights off," the synopsis further reads. Peacock will be premiering 'Below Deck Down Under' on Thursday, March 17.

Whitsunday Islands To Debut On Below Deck

Our region is about to become famous with reality TV fans from around the world when the new series of Below Deck is broadcast to millions of fans on the 18th March.

The entire series of the break-off show Below Deck: Down Under, was filmed right here in the Whitsundays in September 2021, with the super yacht, Thalassa, known to have docked at Coral Sea Marina for a number of weeks.

The party-loving crew were spotted having lively drinks at Magnums during filming and many whispers abounded from local operators whose services were sequestered by producers before they were sworn to silence.

The new series is expected to feature ‘Down Under’, not just in the sense of Australia being down under, but also in taking the audience on an underwater adventure with the guests enjoying diving, scuba diving, snorkelling and spearfishing with the cast.

While nothing has been formerly confirmed, many suspect that the crew will include some well-known faces.

Tumi Mhlongo, Benny Crawley and Magda Ziomek were thought to be onboard, however, an anonymous local source said Aesha Jean is the only returning crew member.

Speculators are also suggesting that Jimmy Threthewie from The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise will be a guest in one of the episodes.

Reports state that fan-favourite, Captain Lee, will unfortunately not be the skipper.

The vessel itself, however, comes from famous origins having been used in the 2008 film, Fool’s Gold, starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson when it was named Keri Lee lll.

It houses a beauty salon, a massage room and a hot tub with a movie screen.  

Many gossip sites who are following the story have heard rumours that the guests were offered highly discounted trips in order to get the spin-off series started.

A group of eight people shared the cost of $20,000 to participate.

In the American version the average Below Deck yacht costs $236,000 to hire per week.

Below Deck Down Under: Meet the cast of the latest Australian spin-off

A brand new series is here!

Below Deck 's latest spin-off series Below Deck Down Under follows the cast and crew of luxury yacht Thalassa, as they travel the tropical Whitsunday Islands and world-famous Great Barrier Reef in north-eastern Australia.

Captain Jason Chambers is joined by returning Chief Stew Aesha Scott, as well as bosun Jamie Sayed and chef Ryan McKeown. A further two stews and three deckhand complete the team looking after charter guests.

Below Deck Down Under is available to stream exclusively on Hayu from March 18 in the UK. The show streams on Peacock in the US.

Jason Chambers (captain)

Jason was born and raised in Australia, and is currently the youngest captain in the Below Deck franchise. Described as an adventurer, Jason leads by example and tries to encourage everyone to find joy in their job.

Aesha Scott (chief steward)

Aesha is from New Zealand, and was previously seen on Below Deck Mediterranean . She is described as "bubbly and gregarious", but it's been teased that the new spin-off will see her hit a roadblock as a leader.

Ryan Mckeown (chef)

This chef is no stranger to creating food for high-profile clients. Ryan grew up in Philadelphia in the US, immersed in the hospitality industry.

Tumi Mhlongo (steward)

Tumi is from South Africa, and is described as someone who's always the life and soul of the party. She has a lengthy hospitality career, and got her first job on a yacht after showing off tablescapes on her Instagram account.

Jamie Sayed (bosun)

First-time bosun Jamie, who's from Australia, previously worked as a police officer. He's described as charismatic, but a bit of a stickler for the rules, and gets frustrated when people don't follow safety guidance on board.

Brittini Burton (deckhand)

Brittini, who's from Michigan in the US, is on a voyage of personal discovery. She is eager to learn – and likes to tell it as it is.

Ben Crawley (deckhand)

Ben has progressed quickly in the maritime industry and loves to entertain, despite having a quiet side. Ben, who's from Australia, is also on a spiritual journey following the devastating loss of his parents.

Magda Ziomek (steward)

Magda loves surfing, adventure and, of course, travelling. The model from Poland fell in love with the world of yachting after previously dating a captain. Magda also worked as a fitness instructor on her last boat.

Culver Bradbury (deckhand)

Culver, from Maryland in the US, is the self-proclaimed "entertainment officer" on Thalassa. He's described as someone who's ready for fun, and who always makes the guests his priority.

Andrea has 20 years' experience working in print and digital media. 

She started out as an intern at ELLE magazine and has worked on the picture desk of numerous national magazines such as Red , Reveal, Now, Woman and Women's Weekly before making the switch to digital and then joining Digital Spy .

Guest Accommodation

Thalassa is notable for her ten cabin layout, offering great flexibility for a charter yacht of this size. Built in 2002, She offers guest accommodation for up to 20 guests. She is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

Thalassa benefits from some excellent features to improve your charter, particularly Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to stay connected at all times, should you wish. You can stay comfortable on board whatever the weather, with air conditioning during your charter.
