This is how the High Performance (HP) 1030 was presented by the manufacturer:  The boat has enough interior space to accommodate the whole family; 6 berths, standing headroom, large toilet, kitchenette with oven etc. A boat made to sail fun and fair events and regattas and to ensure a good second hand value. Manufactured in a quality Swedish yard - Erixon TechnoYacht. Large genoa on low extendable beam 2.1 meters, everything is set and operated from the cockpit, no one needed on deck. Very large cockpit for the whole crew, no one will have to sit on the foredeck or along the deck and get soaked. Modern underwater hull planes easily at about 8 m/s. Easy to maneuver in ports and on the runway. Large rudder, effective deep T-keel with large heavy torpedo at the bottom makes for a stiff, stable and safe boat. This boat, which is the last one made in Kungsviken to a higher standard than the early ones in the series, offers everything mentioned above and even more. The windows are in stainless steel frames and there are stainless steel grab rails in the bright and wonderfully form-fitting interior. The rig, including boom and spreader, is made of carbon fibre. There is also a rail for self-tailing headsails, autopilot on the heart stock, hot and cold pressurized water, a larger electrical panel than the original, and a Yanmar 3GM20 under the stairs for those few occasions when the sails are not providing the propulsion. A fast sailor for both races and holidays. The current owner is the first and only owner. The boat has spent the winters in her own "boat apartment" and has been tenderly cared for. The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
• LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
• LOA: Length overall in feet
• Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet

Capsize Screening Formula

This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.

I fokus hp 1030.

HP 1030 är en svenskdesignad cruiser racer från High Performance Yacht med bas i Henån. Företaget drivs av Hans Pettersson. Hans började som 6-åring i optimistjolle och fortsatte sin seglarkarriär med GKSS Eka, Stjärnbåt, Folkbåt och H-båt. Han är en entreprenör och visionär inom svensk segling och var tillsammans med konstruktören Carl Beyer den drivande kraften bakom CB33, CB365 och CB66. Han har bestämda åsikter om mycket och återkommer gång på gång till vikten av ”mycket seglingsupplevelse till en rimlig kostnad” som är grundkonceptet bakom HP 1030.

    Augustivädret har på västkusten präglats av stora kontraster och bjudit på allt från strålande sol och stiltje till hård vind, åskbyar och hällande regn. Den här morgonen är inget undantag och trots en något osäker prognos styr vi mot Orust för att bekanta oss med HP 1030. Vi kör av vid Stenungsund, korsar vackra Orustbron och välkomnas av skylten Bästkusten. Vi fortsätter mot Henån och tar av till vänster mot Kungsviken. Här och var syns spår av den långa båtbyggartraditionen som präglat området ända sedan vinkingatiden och det är ju ingen hemlighet att varv som Hallberg-Rassy, det nyligen konkursdrabbade Najad, Malö Yachts, Nord West Yachts och Regina af Vindö Yachts har sina rötter i den orustska myllan. Cirka 80% av produktionen av fritidsbåtar i Sverige kommer från varven på Orust och båtsektorn står för mer än 50% av industrijobben i kommunen.

    Vi anländer till Kungsvikens hamn och målet för vår utflykt utmärker sig rejält med sitt stålgråa skrov och kolfibermast. Hon ger direkt intrycket av en sportig, väldesignad båt med ren däcklayout där krutet lagts på seglingsprestanda och hanterbarhet. Under däck hittar vi en akterkabin, toalett, en salong med pentry och en förpit. Totalt finns 6 fullängdskojer ombord. Inredningen är enkel. Den eldrivna inombordaren är placerad tillsammans med fyra batterier bakom stegen. Ett batteri motsvarar ungefär en timmes resa under normaldrift.

    Riggning av storsegel och fock går fort och med bara en knapptryckning är motorn igång. Vi glider alldeles ljudlöst ut ur hamnen. Hans berättar att motorn kan fungera som en generator och två timmar ger i runda tal en halvtimmes extra motordrift. Hon är tystgående på låga varv men når mer normala ljudnivåer på högsta. Motorkraften justeras med ett vred. Båten har ett frihängande roder och man kan vända på rorkulten så att den vetter åt andra hållet när man backar. - Det kan man inte uppnå med en ratt, påpekar Hans alldeles riktigt.

    Vi hissar fock och storsegel och börjar kryssa i svag nordostlig bris. Hon är balanserad, lättstyrd och lyhörd på trim. Vi faller av, hissar en gigantisk spinnaker med peke och går snabbt i planing. Båten har stor sittbrunn, däcklayouten gör det lätt att röra sig ombord och hitta en bekväm ställning oavsett lutning och stora delar av däcket har förstärkt halkmönster vilket underlättar livet ombord.

    Vi fick inte möjligheten att pröva henne i hårdare vind och sjö men Hans försäkrar att hon är lätt att hantera även i tuffare seglingsförhållanden och fortsätter. - Det är vattenlinjelängden som bestämmer farten. Hon går som de absolut bästa 33-fotarna på kryss och fortare än andra 33-fotare med spinnaker. Och det smala förskeppet håller henne torr.

    Med facit i hand fick vi en skön förmiddag i skärgården med sol och fantastisk segling som gav mersmak. Visst hade det varit läckert med en matchande kolfiberbom i riggen och vi tyckte nog att man hade sparat in lite väl mycket på inredningen. - Vi har satt ett tak på vad båten får kosta och jag vill inte kompromissa med kölinfästning, mast och block för de är jätteviktiga för mig som seglare, berättar Hans. Standardutförandet är det absolut enklaste som går att få tag på men ändå funktionellt i vårt nordiska klimat. Hans understryker dock att allt är möjligt. Värt att nämna ytterligare en gång är den eldrivan inombordaren.

    High Performance Yacht Line är en serie båtmodeller som präglas av snabba och lätta båtar med mycket seglingskänsla. Samtliga modeller konstrueras av CDE Danish Marine Design och plastas av välkända Technofiber i Lysekil. Lillasystern HP 850 och den större HP 1230 ligger för närvarande på ritbordet.

    HP Yachts har valt att förespråka el istället för diesel och installerar elmotorn OZecoDrive samt batterier i sina båtar. OZecoDrive är en svensk uppfinning. Mer info hittar du på www.ozecodrive.com.
