A City at Sea: New Mega-Yacht Concept Resembles the Streets of Monaco

Mega Yacht Concept Resembles the Streets of Monaco

A sovereign city-state located in the French Riviera, Monaco is known as a “billionaire’s playground” for its lavish lifestyle, beautiful architecture, high-end casinos, and love for its famous annual street circuit race, The Monaco Grand Prix. The city also draws thousands of tourists every year, looking to soak in the stunning Mediterranean views and take a yacht ride through one of its many gorgeous harbors. Recently, Yacht Island Design , a boating design firm known for its out-of-this-world yacht concepts, has taken on a new project inspired by this French paradise’s luxury appeal, and there’s no other idea quite like it on the market today.

The Streets of Monaco is a 508-foot-long superyacht concept that has all the amenities of this beloved French province, wrapped into one over-the-top vessel. If built, it can house up to 16 guests and a crew of 70 to ensure a top-notch, individualized service experience for everyone onboard—all while cruising at a comfortable 15 mph at sea. What distinguishes this boat design from the rest, however, isn’t just its Mediterranean-style façade or its impressive size. The Streets of Monaco will deliver just what its name suggests—all the comforts and beauty of Monaco, including an onboard casino, racetrack, and stylized interiors that mimic the city’s iconic surroundings.

High Life on the High Seas

When it goes into production, this imposing yacht will be from top to bottom an homage to the sumptuous beauty of Monaco. All of the must-see landmarks have been integrated into the boat’s clever design. Rooms inspired by everything from the Hotel de Paris to Lowes Hotel to the Monte Carlo Casino can be found throughout the vessel’s sprawling interior, and the Grand Atrium and Oasis areas offer airy foyer-like spaces that center the vessel’s living space and make passengers feel as though they never left land. The boat’s four decks contain a variety of living areas, each with Monaco-inspired interior designs, with lavish colors and ornate decorations that offer a slice of paradise and amazing ambience while away at sea.

The deck of the ship is home to several sparkling swimming pools, overlooking the high seas, and of course, what over-the-top yacht wouldn’t come equipped with a helipad and a tennis court? Perhaps The Streets of Monaco’s most innovative concept, though, is its indoor racetrack, which allows up to three passengers to get out their checkered flags, hop in a go-kart, and race each other to their heart’s content. The boat’s exterior also reflects the towering roadways of Monaco, with its white colonnades, soaring arches, and castle-like structures. Inside, passengers can also ascend from the pool area via a marble staircase up to the ship’s spa area, where everyone onboard can melt their cares away with a massage or time in the sauna. This yacht concept—a marvel of modern engineering—is for owners who want to turn heads, and spark imaginations, while sailing into any harbor.

A Billion Dollar Investment

poker face yacht monaco owner

The Streets of Monaco may look like an extension of this celebrated French province adrift at sea, but its staggering price tag is also reflective of the high-end residents and clientele who live there. At a staggering one billion dollar estimated production cost, this superyacht is only for the most well-to-do investors, who want to spend some serious time away from the cares of land-living and get lost at sea—if only for a while. Purchasing this yacht is like buying a floating estate, however, offering a dance hall, thousands of square feet of cozy living space, and sundecks with private jacuzzis, among other things. For the world’s wealthiest—and luckiest—patrons, this Monaco dreamboat, and all of its stunning features, can become an enviable, larger than life reality.

How to live like a billionaire in Monaco

By Jonathan Thompson

Charles Deville Wells didn’t look like a high roller. The 50-year-old English inventor – short, paunchy, with pork-chop side-burns – slipped into the Casino de Monte-Carlo one evening in 1891 virtually unnoticed.

His anonymity didn’t last long. With a few hundred pounds from the sale of a musical skipping rope, the untitled interloper bet like a king. Over an 11-hour gambling marathon, he outshone the great and the good of Monte Carlo, before, finally, ‘breaking the bank’ and sauntering out with a cool one million francs to his name.

The casino owner kept a perfect public poker face, quoting the local saying: ‘The money always comes back’. He was right. The story of ‘Monte Carlo Wells’ became a global sensation, inspiring the racy fin de siècle song ‘The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo’ and attracting floods of gamblers from across the world. The house had ultimately won – and the legend of the Casino de Monte-Carlo was firmly established.

The high rollers are still flocking to the grand, Belle Epoque-style casino today, gracing the richest country per capita on the planet. One in three local residents is a millionaire, but they’re relative down-and-outs compared to the scores of billionaires who have made the principality their playground.

The mega-rich are everywhere: partying on their superyachts, networking in private members’ clubs and dining in the micro-state’s many Michelin-starred restaurants. During the Season – beginning with the Rose Ball in March and ending with the Yacht Show Gala in September – more arrive in their helicopters and private jets. In this little land of big names and bulging bank accounts, appearance and contacts are everything. The way you dress, how you arrive and who you’re with dictate aspects of your experience from your parking spot to the table at which you’re seated, be it green baize or white linen. If you play your cards right – and if you know the right people – there’s nowhere on earth more glamorous than Monaco.

The Princess of Wales’ latest health update revealed following her abdominal surgery in January and Prince Williams’ noticeable absence from King Constantine’s memorial

By Isaac Bickerstaff

Who was Thomas Kingston? A Christian, diplomat, financier and an ‘exceptional’ man

By Isaac Zamet

Prince and Princess Michael exhibit extreme stiff-upper-lip stoicism in the face of family tragedy by attending King Constantine’s memorial two days after the shocking death of their son-in-law, Thomas Kingston

I’m here for a brief taste of that heady lifestyle – to see if the right people, and the right toys, can give me a taster of a billionaire’s jaunt. Thankfully, I’ve got a couple of aces up my sleeve: a billionaire-worthy wardrobe courtesy of Tom Ford, plus the latest BMW supercar – the new i8 Roadster – borrowed for the duration of my stay.

The first truly wealthy local I meet is less than impressed. ‘Everybody here has a supercar,’ laughs Flavio Briatore when we meet for coffee at the new Cova Monte Carlo patisserie. ‘You’re going to need a superyacht too – and supermodels on that superyacht.’ Briatore knows what he’s talking about, having dated Heidi Klum and Naomi Campbell. He also owns a business called BillionaireLife, so I’m keen to hear his advice.

‘This little country is incredible: so sunny, so beautiful, so protected,’ says Briatore, who moved here from London five years ago. ‘It’s simultaneously a place of business and of pleasure. But if you want to get into the top places, to sit at the best tables and meet the right people, you need to know somebody. You need connections.’

There’s the paradox. For a place so very tiny (Monaco in its entirety fits into an area less than a square mile), it’s notoriously hard to get into the venues that count. Fortunately, I have a trump card on that front too. Quintessentially, co-founded by the Duchess of Cornwall’s nephew Ben Elliot, have recently opened a Monaco office, and are only too happy to help.

Image may contain Vehicle Transportation Boat and Yacht

I meet Gaby Roads, their Elite Lifestyle Manager, for a glass of champagne on board a superyacht named Jetsetter , moored in Monaco’s Port Hercules. ‘Billionaires play by a different set of rules,’ says Roads, as she shows me around the £14 million yacht, which has four palatial bedrooms, jet skis and an on-deck Jacuzzi. ‘They’ll hire a yacht like this just to entertain during events like the Monaco Grand Prix, even if they have their own yachts elsewhere. It’s about positioning in the port as much as anything else.’

Positioning is about proximity to one of the most exclusive private members’ clubs anywhere in the world: the Yacht Club de Monaco. Twice a year, hundreds of applicants are personally vetted by Prince Albert II, before the lucky few join the ranks of Monaco’s gilded elite, cloistered in a spectacular clubhouse overlooking Port Hercule.

It’s Quintessentially’s business to know the right people, and I’m swept effortlessly into the grand Norman Foster-designed building, for a drink on the upper terrace with views of the yachts below and the palace beyond. I even have a brief chat with Prince Albert himself, who happens to be spending the afternoon at the club. Flanked by five minders, the Prince is a jovial presence, chatting away in his hard-to-place accent – a hint of Dutch perhaps, with an undertone of American. Unsurprising, when your mother was Grace Kelly.

‘We have the water, we have the sunshine, we have the lifestyle; we have everything you could want here,’ he says of the tiny country his family has ruled for more than 700 years.‘You Brits should all move here after Brexit. We’re waiting for the influx to start.’ Brexit aside, Brits do flock here, and Lord Edward Spencer-Churchill is rumoured to have moved here recently.

As the light dips and the Prince departs, thoughts turn to dinner. Monaco has no less than 16 Michelin stars, sprinkled across a country roughly the size of Soho. It’s extremely difficult to get a table at any of these restaurants without booking weeks in advance but, as Roads said, billionaires play by their own rules, and she’s secured a reservation at one of the finest restaurants in town: Blue Bay at Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort.

Here, at La Table de Marcel, guests dine at a table adjoining the kitchen, served by multi award-winning chef Marcel Ravin. The 14 extraordinary dishes are a tour de force, rounded off fittingly by a lift home in the restaurant’s chauffeur-driven Maserati.

Image may contain Housing Mansion House Building Palm Tree Arecaceae Tree Plant Palace and Architecture

The next morning I’m back in my own car, threading the Roadster through the cobweb of mountainous streets from one end of the principality to the other. I have a tour of two of the most billionaire-friendly digs in town: the Diamond Duplex Suite at Hôtel Hermitage (£8,000 a night), which comes complete with glass staircase, rooftop hot tub and ocean views; and the Carré d’Or Suite at the Hôtel Metropole (£7,700 a night), with its sprawling terrace, permanent butler and capacious marble and gold bathroom – recent guests have included Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna.

Lunch is across the street at another of Monte Carlo’s grande dames, the Hôtel de Paris on Place du Casino. At Le Grill by Alain Ducasse, moving and shaking is done on a daily basis, and is usually followed by one of the impo-ssibly delicious, human-head-sized soufflés (go for chocolate, and don’t eat breakfast beforehand if you want to finish it).

Despite being the principality’s oldest hotel, the Hôtel de Paris is still a hot ticket for the young and gorgeous. As Tom Claeren, a local model and Instagram star, explains: ‘People talk about Jimmy’z and Twiga – both great spots – but Le Bar Américain at Hôtel de Paris is still one of the most important venues for those in the know. It’s full of heritage and class.’

If there’s one event that brings out the elite in force, it’s the Grand Prix – a celebration of everything that personifies the principality: glamour, spectacle and glory. Monaco, after all, is Europe’s poshest pitstop. Every May, the celebrities arrive en masse, heading to Jimmy’z and Twiga, but also to the annual A-list pop-up Amber Lounge, where recent partygoers included David Beckham, Jennifer Lawrence, Justin Bieber and Kylie Minogue.

Image may contain City Town Urban Building Metropolis Downtown Architecture Human Person Grass Plant and Sphere

But it’s the magnificent Casino de Monte-Carlo that trumps the other venues hands down – it’s as much a part of the Monegasque myth as Princess Grace. Images of the adored Hollywood royal are still everywhere, and the palatial casino is no exception. Framed photographs gaze down as you enter the Baroque building – but it’s the areas behind them that the real players are interested in: the private rooms where the seriously high stakes are wagered.

I’m ushered into one of these rooms, con-cealed behind an ornate mirror: the tiny Privée Anglais, where a solitary card table sits in burnt-orange feutrine. Here, the betting chips are the size of mobile phones, totalling up to €200,000 (£175,000) each, while a secret door – activated by pressing a hidden button under the portrait of a brown stallion – swings open onto a private elevator with direct access to the street. I make a swift retreat, but there’s still time for a blast up the coast behind the wheel of a Riva – the billionaire’s speedboat of choice, beloved by everyone from George Clooney and Sean Connery to Princess Grace herself, who received one as a wedding gift. (Here, a state-of-the-art Rivamare, plus pleasingly hands-off captain, can be yours for £4,500 a day – or you can shell out around a million to own one.) And then, sadly, it’s time for me to cash in my chips, hand back the keys to my supercar and return to the real world, via helicopter to Nice.

As I land back at the heliport with the crimson sun setting over the French Riviera, there’s a line of impossibly glamorous people waiting, monogrammed LV luggage in hand, to take the chopper back to the golden bubble of Monte Carlo. As they like to say here, the money always comes back.

Insider Today

Monaco, a tiny yet prosperous city-state on the French Riviera, is a global yachting destination.

Of its 38,000 residents, an estimated one-third are millionaires, and some of the biggest and most famous yachts in the world have docked at its glitzy Port Hercules. Each year, Monaco hosts the Monaco Yacht Show , an event that drew 30,000 yachting industry insiders, buyers, and $4.3 billion of superyachts in 2019. Yachts belonging to the likes of Wynn Resorts cofounder Steve Wynn and Russian billionaire Dmitry Pumpyansky  have been spotted at port in Monaco in recent years.

But as Monaco, like the rest of the world, deals with the coronavirus pandemic, its wealthy residents have been mandated to stay in their homes except for essential activities — and cruising on a multimillion-dollar superyacht is not considered essential, even in Monaco.

What lockdown is like in Monaco under lockdown

Monaco's government has temporarily banned all leisure boating activities and barred entry to cruise ships.  Port Hercules now requires yachts larger than 78 feet to fill out a mandatory Declaration of Health before entering the port.

Raphael Sauleau, the CEO of Fraser Yachts , a yacht brokerage with offices in Monaco, told Business Insider that residents fully support the lockdown.

"Many captains and crew remain on board yachts, so on lockdown but in good spirits, keeping the yachts (and themselves) in good shape and preparing for the eventual rollback of restrictions which is currently set to start in Monaco in May," Sauleau said. "Yachts sound their horns each night to thank the frontline and essential workers."

Ignat Bondarchuk, a trader from Belarus who has lived in Monaco since 2018, told Business Insider he goes jogging near Port Hercules a few times per week and that it was "strange not to see boats coming in and out of the port."

Monaco's lockdown is currently set to end on May 3 . Until then, residents are only allowed to leave their homes for essential activities including essential work, visits to grocery stores and pharmacies, travel for critical family reasons, and brief outings for individual physical exercise and taking care of pets.

The police are patrolling the country with drones to ensure there are no social gatherings and handing out fines of up to €200 ($217) for those who break the rules, according to Monaco's official government website. Monaco claims to be one of  the most high-security cities in the world, with one police officer for every 100 residents and a 24-hour video surveillance system that covers the entire town.

The principality had 94 confirmed cases of the virus at the time of publication. The nation's ruler, Prince Albert II, the son of American actress Grace Kelly, became the first head of state known to be infected with the virus on March 19. The monarch has since recovered and reunited with his wife and their two children, according to local newspaper Monaco-Matin.

The yachting industry around the world has ground to a halt

While the lack of activity in the port may be particularly apparent in a place like Monaco, it's not only in Monaco that the yachting industry has ground to a halt. Almost all private boating has been shut down in the Mediterranean region, and around the world, charters have been canceled and boats are locked in marinas, The New York Times reported. Major international boat shows have been postponed or canceled, as Business Insider's Hillary Hoffower reported.

For now, the 2020 Monaco Yacht Show is still set to take place from September 23 to 26 as planned.

"Time will tell how this evolves and if it does take place, what changes are made and how many people attend," Sauleau said. "The local authority may also require a different set up allowing social distancing and other requirements to be seen."

Like many other brokerages, Fraser Yachts has been holding virtual yacht tours, he said.

"But of course, nothing can substitute the experience of physically stepping on board a yacht to really appreciate the craftwork, space, facilities and performance each vessel uniquely has to offer," Sauleau said.

The yachting industry has been a hot-button topic during the coronavirus outbreak. Reports have surfaced of billionaires chartering yachts for months at a time to ride out the pandemic. And entertainment mogul David Geffen, who's worth $7.7 billion , was blasted for posting Instagram photos last month that showed him "self-isolating" on his $590 superyacht in the Caribbean.

15th Monaco Classic Week – La Belle Classe | 8-11 September 2021

– Mariella (Fife 1938) wins Monaco Classic Week Trophy 2021  – Contests, big parade, racing for all – and anniversary party on SS Delphine – Rendezvous 13-16 September 2023 for the 16 th Monaco Classic Week

Saturday 11 th September 2021. Monaco Classic Week is not just a regatta. It’s a voyage through time and the history of yachting which in Monaco combines sport and a certain ‘Art de Vivre’ common to classic sailing yachts, period motor-yachts and vintage motorboats at a time which saw the birth of aviation and the early seaplanes. It is this spirit that never fails to captivate participants and public alike at an event orchestrated by Yacht Club de Monaco. It combines races as a way to showcase the authenticity of sailing yachts along with the coveted La Belle Classe Restoration Prize, living well at sea with the Chefs Competition, respect for etiquette at sea with the elegance contests, and an extraordinary voyage into the past at the ‘Powerboat Meetings in the Albert I of Monaco era – Yacht Club de Monaco’s collection restored’ exhibition. On the last day, a Grand Parade led by SS Delphine (1921) brought all participants together in front of the Oceanographic Museum for a parade of living maritime heritage in all its many guises to Larvotto Beach and back to the YCM Marina. An opportunity to celebrate the 100 th anniversary of this steam-yacht, the last still in operation, recognisable by her inverted stem and elegant lines (78.5m in length, 10.83m beam) with three boilers supplying the original 1500hp quadruple-expansion engines.

Style as much as performance

After the rigours of Friday’s race to Cala del Forte marina in Ventimiglia and back, Saturday was about what inspires the yachting soul, this passion that people have for their boat and the way they enjoy them at shore and at sea. The Elegance Contest again involved Princess Beatriz de Orleans-Borbon and an elitist jury called into judge the style, class and harmony of crews and their boats. Sailing yachts, motorboats and motor-yachts paraded past the jury on Lucciana Jetty, the crews digging deep into their imaginations to harmonise their uniforms and gestures to suit their boat’s stature. Salutes, hurrahs, canon shots, even sea chanties proved a challenge for a jury embarrassed by choice when the final decision had to be made.

A hand-picked fleet

poker face yacht monaco owner

On the Mediterranean classic yacht circuit, Monaco Classic Week stands out as the only one to bring together an exclusive range of classic sailing and motor yachts, selected and invited by the Yacht Club de Monaco. For owners, delighted to be together and sharing their passion, it was a more intimate format with only sailing yachts built before 1950 with a wooden mast being able to drop anchor in the YCM Marina.

Around 30 responded to the invitation, most of them Fifes, including three of the 15M IR yachts. It was an ideal opportunity for Moët Hennessy to pay tribute to the prestigious Scottish boatyard by officially launching a 25-year-aged Glenmorangie Tuiga Whisky. In their wake, were a dozen period motor-yachts and some 30 vintage motorboats including ten Rivas, outdoing each other in finesse and elegance while seven others, including three American Chris Crafts vied for supremacy in the sheer elegance of their lines.

Mariella (Fife 1938) wins Monaco Classic Week Trophy 2021

The La Belle Classe Restoration Prize recognises the quality of the restoration of boats that are often over a hundred years old. For this fifth edition, the Jury chaired by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston and comprising experts in yachting history including Dr William Collier has spent the week inspecting all the boats. The scoring takes into account respect for the original plans, materials used in the construction and the expertise of those involved in restoring them. The boat’s history and that of their owners are all part of the passion and commitment which also comes into play. It is a combination of this contest and the elegance contest that decides the winner of the Monaco Classic Week Trophy as they encompass all the criteria assessed in these two aspects to which is added that indefinable “love at first sight” reaction to the spirit that reigns in the life, maintenance and restoration of the boat. The big winner this week is the Fife-design Bermudan yawl Mariella (1938) of Carlo Falcone who succeeds the gaff schooner Puritan (1930). Also on the receiving end of awards for the quality of their restoration are Iran in the vintage motorboats, Blue Bird 1938 in the motor-yachts and the gaff cutter Olympian (Gardner 1913). Iran (Stempler Corsier Port – 1948) won the jury’s vote for the elegance prize, as did the motor yacht Istros and the sailing yacht Viola (Fife 1908).

Three races for the 12’ Dinghies

In a light south-westerly the Race Committee ran three windward-leeward races in quick succession for the 12’ Dinghies. “ A day of light airs that favoured the light sailors !” explained Lorient sailor, Christophe Le Bruchec. “ The Italians proved very strong competition, ” he said, confirmed by the ranking dominated by Aldo Samele-Acquaviva, ahead of compatriots Alessandro Pedone and Federico Pelopais.

Chefs Competition won by Eileen 1938

Ten boats, sailing and motor, entered their chefs for the highly-rated Chefs Competition, the jury chaired by three-Michelin star Mauro Colagreco (Mirazur). Coordinated by Simon Ganache, Executive Chef of Banquets at YCM, the theme was ‘Land and Sea’, with Wagyu beef and king crab for the starter, and black cod, carabineros and octopus for the main dish. Another ingredient they had to work in to enhance their recipes was Glenmorangie’s ‘The Original’ 10-year-old whisky which they did with panache. The winner was Thibaud Barbafiera the “cook” on the Bermudan cutter Eileen 1938 (Anker 1938) who best combined these culinary imperatives and impressed the jury. He beat Ricco Dubignon from the motor-yacht Le Kir Royal and Conor Demprey from Blue Bird 1938 .

Success for outstanding exhibition of works from the YCM collection

To commemorate the 100 th anniversary of the death of Prince Albert I, the Comité Albert Ier-2022 put on an exhibition for the week of some 60 items that have been restored and are on public display for the first time, including medals and trophies, relating to the powerboat meetings held in Monaco in the early 20 th century. All the items will now be found a place in the various lounges of the Yacht Club de Monaco.

They said:

Bernard d’alessandri, general secretary of the yacht club de monaco.

“As the curtain falls on this 15 th edition of Monaco Classic Week, we are all feeling very emotional at having shared our passion for all these boats. This event is unique but also has meaning as it brings together people who have the same concept of sailing and pay the same attention to preserving maritime heritage. We can see that old boats still have a timeless elegance. Monaco also had a role to play in the early days and development of aviation in the early 20th century. For aviation started with seaplanes and the first flights over Monaco waters taking off from the quays. The exhibition of posters and lithographs from the Yacht Club is a reflection of what yachting is today. When we talk about Monaco as a capital of yachting, it is a story that began a long time ago and which continues.”

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, President of the Monaco Classic Week Grand Jury

“ We were given a wonderful welcome by all the crews who told us the story of their boat, the restoration works that have been carried out, and always with the same passion and love. In the end, it’s a very difficult decision to make, so many craftsmen who work on these boats to preserve them in all their original grandeur have done a great job. In the end, it’s the heart that decides for each member of the jury.”

Quality services start with our brilliant people, mitch labrie, delphine labrie.

"When asked by Mitch if I could provide a testimonial for him my only problem was to remember exactly how many yachts I’ve been involved with due to him over the years. I think it is 6, and on each occasion I’ve worked with him it has been an easy mix of professional and friendly support. Mitch has a background at sea and knowing that a qualified Master who understands the job is there in the background and available if required has always been very reassuring. He selects his team accordingly and I’ve enjoyed working with his accounts and yacht management assistants equally over the years. MONACO’S FAMOUS HISTORIC YACHTS AND MORE

poker face yacht monaco owner

The “Pacha III” looks almost “tiny” with its 36 meters, but the timeless beauty is still a place of honor in the harbor. After all, it belongs to the oldest sister of Prince Albert II, Princess Caroline . Although it is not one of the largest luxury yachts in the Principality of Monaco, it is often the center of interest. Dozens of paparazzi photos show Caroline of Hanover and her Casiraghi sprouts along with partners and friends on the legendary boat. Could she say, the 79-year-old “Pacha III” would have something to say. The yacht was bought just before the death of Caroline’s second husband, Stefano Casiraghi, son to a prominent Italian family, who died in an off-shore crash in October 1990 off the coast of Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, near Monaco. Since then “Pacha III” has a special meaning for Princess Caroline and her family. In the year 2000 Stefano‘s mother, Fernanda Casiraghi-Biffi, was awarded the Foglio Italiano of Montecarlo – Foglio d’Oro Prize for her merits in charity events and as President of Engeco SAM, (now owned by Pizzarotti &C S.P.A.) a very important building company in the Principality. It is an habit to the Monaco family to have composed names yachts: Princes Rainier and Grace used to own “Stalca” St (ephanie) Al (bert) Ca (roline) a yacht, after naming Albercaro Alber (t) and Caro (line) their first yacht. Princess Stephanie named her yacht “Louine”, of course after her two first kids, Lou (is) and (Paul) ine . In the XIX and XX centuries, Prince Albert I , great-great-grandfather of Albert II, owned four, increasingly impressive research yachts: Hirondelle, Hirondelle I, Princess Alice and Princesse Alice I, named after his second beloved wife, the American-born Alice Heine , Duchess of Richelieu . Back to the Caroline and Stefano’s boat, previously she already had several names such as Briseis, Cardigrae, Priamar and Arlette II. The name “Pacha III” is made up of the initials of their three children Pierre, Andrea and Charlotte together. Pacha , means P (ierre) A (ndrea) Cha (rlotte). Also, it is a nice coincidence that the initial of Alexandra, the Caroline and Ernst August Hanover ‘s daughter, is the last letter of Pacha… Caroline had to add the “III” because there existed already a Pacha, Pacha I and a Pacha II. She was originally built in 1936 by the British shipyard Camper & Nicholson in Southampton. Her dark blue steel hull is slender 5.60 meters wide and has a draft of 2.50 meters. On board nine guests can be accommodated by seven crew members. The Grimaldi Clan uses the yacht regularly for trips in the Mediterranean. Now Caroline’s children are increasingly using the boat. So also recently newlewds Pierre Casiraghi and noblewoman Beatrice Borromeo .

poker face yacht monaco owner

Probably no other family of rulers of Europe can be seen under the media’s observation, like the Monegasque princes’ house. The millenarian history of the Grimaldis is at least as interesting as their current glamorous performances. Fast boats and beautiful women, international jet set, the Grimaldi Forum Congress Centre, the Prince’s committment to sustainability and once a year Formula 1 Grand Prix , the Rose and the Red Cross Gala, all this an much more is Monaco. But what would the dwarf state on the Côte d’Azur be without the Grimaldis? The princely family is probably the best PR machine for their country. Whether it’s the joy of the world or the catastrophe – (the Grimaldi Royal House, founded in 1297, is the oldest in Europe) the world is there live. The Grimaldis now land regularly on the covers of the boulevard and lifestyle media. The first attention is given to the first-born daughter Caroline (* 1957). The failure of their first and later annullated marriage to much older real estate agent Philippe Junot was also in the limelight as the accidental death of her second husband Stefano Casiraghi . Her last marriage to Ernst August Prinz of Hanover , to which she owes the title of Caroline Prinzessin from Hanover, always provides grateful material for the Yellow Press. Her younger sister, Stéphanie (* 1965), also contributed a lot to bringing the family back into the flash of lightning. Meanwhile the sisters have calmed down. Both engage in social projects; Caroline has three grandchildren, Stéphanie got three children from two marriages. HSH Albert II is now in the center of interest. No wonder he is a prince, he has a beautiful wife – and adorable twins.

Well, now I invite you to continue navigating the website and make a Graceful tour in the Galapagos with the Grace Yatch! Although M/Y Grace looks as young and chic today as the princess who honeymooned aboard her in the 1950s, she is nonetheless what the French call “une femme d’un certain age”: born in 1928, just before The Crash silenced the Roaring Twenties, she’s surrendered none of her youth’s glamour to the scars and wrinkles of a gallant life, including a stint chasing submarines during World War II. Combat aged on her, but benefactors like Aristotle Onassis, John Issa, and Prince Rainier ensured she was kept in the style to which she was accustomed. Now, as the M/Y Grace, she plies the waters of the Galapagos Islands, once again the elegant hostess to carefree, adventurous, perfect parties. M/Y Grace bore many names since Santiago Soulas, an Argentinean, commissioned her in Southampton. She weighed 298 tons, was 147 feet long, with a 23-foot beam and a draft of 12 feet. Soulas kept her four years before selling her to Zarch Couyoumbian, a Greek gentleman who named her Rion. In 1938, Sir George Tilley, chairman of the Prudential Insurance Co., acquired and enjoyed her until 1939, when the British conscripted her for the war effort. The Royal Navy – well-heeled in warships – needed smaller vessels for coastal patrols and snatched yachts from the Mediterranean and the Caribbean playgrounds. Rion found herself in a Tynemouth shipyard, stripped of her furnishings and paneling. She was strengthened to carry a 12-pound quick-firing gun on the forecastle, twin 40mm Oerlikons alongside the bridge and a rack on the stern holding eight 300 lb. depth charges. The corporate crew quarters were removed and hammock-hooks were welded to the deck. The forward suite became the operations and sonar room, another suite became the radio room, and the aft suite was an ammunition magazine. On October 21, 1939, she joined the Royal Navy with a crew of 20 under the command of Lt. T. Brydon, RNVR. She and 15 other vessels patrolled the entrances to the Solent and along the Isle of Wight: calm waters with the Germans focused on the skies.

On patrol off the Nab Tower, however, a Dornier 110 returning from a bombing raid stafed Rion. She took some damage to her superstructure but suffered no casualties. On May 26, 1940, during Operation Dynamo, Rion was dispatched to the beaches of Dunkirk to evacuate the British Expeditionary Force. She made three 39-mile runs from Dunkirk to Dover, each time delivering 300 soldiers. On her third run, a near-miss from a bomb off her starboard bow killed 14 soldiers and one sailor and left shrapnel holes in the hull. Repaired in Portsmouth, she resumed duty in the channels from Portsmouth to Southampton. Rion’s finest hour came on November 22, 1940 with a daring nighttime capture. She was patrolling south of the Isle of Wight with HMS Shemara and HMS Valera. At 2:44 a.m. radar contact was obtained 10 miles southwest. Lt. Brydon ordered pursuit and discovered a German E-boat floundering in the swells, and Rion and Shemara opened fire from astern of the boat. The Germans returned small-arms fire but surrendered when a shell from Rion hit her bridge. Rion escorted the E-Boat to the Portsmouth Harbour naval base. Rion had not finished yet: she discovered a submarine on the night of March 23, 1941, and made numerous depth charge runs, but the large oil slick seen at dawn was insufficient evidence to confirm that Rion had destroyed the U-boat. By June 3rd, Rion’s port engine had been crippled, and she was decommissioned for three months before returning to duty: stripped of armaments and refitted with three-tier bunks and a red cross painted on her sides and upper deck, she became an annex to the Royal Navy Hospital. Here she remained until the war’s end, when she was rechristened HMS Noir. On October 1945 she was decommissioned and 17 months later she arrived at her original builders—Southampton’s Camper & Nicholson—for restoration. On September 16, 1947 she was returned to Sir George Tilley. Upon Sir George’s death in 1951, Aristotle Onassis ’ charter firm acquired HMS Noir and renamed her Arion. Two years later, the yacht became property of Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco as a wedding gift from Aristotle Onassis.

Over the course of the next 2 years the yacht was refitted to embark her new era as one of the most elegant and tasteful Galapagos Cruise yachts to sail the enchanted Galapagos Islands. The cabins are in the Sun Deck, the top-most deck of the yacht where one can find plenty of reclinable lounge chairs for sunbathing or for reading in the open air. The Albert Deck has 2 Master Suites and 2 Twin Suites with ocean-view windows. The captain’s bridge, the al-fresco lounge and al-fresco bar are also located on this deck. The Carolina Deck is fitted with 5 Premium Staterooms (double and twin) with ocean-view port-holes. The Monaco Deck is the main deck of the yacht with the interior dining room, the reception area and the main lounge. On the outside of this deck there are the al-fresco dining area, the stern resting area and the jacuzzi. And… A FABERGE IMPERIAL EGG EMBODIES A FABULOUS LUXURY YACHT FULL OF HISTORY: THE STANDART YACHT

MOSCOW. Last but not least, and exort ing you to read the Fabergé Eggs history in the CULTURE & MONACO WEALTHS wish to report a curiosity about fabolous luxury yachts , with the description of the Fabergé Standart Yacht Leaf Egg . The “Standart 1909” is a transparent hollowed-out rock crystal egg, mounted horizontally, with a gold band with inlaid leaves of green enamel and small diamonds marking the separation point between upper and lower halves, which bears the inscription “Standart 1909”. The surprise is a golden replica of the Imperial Yacht , the Standart Yacht, made of gold and platinum , and coated in vitreous enamel . The model rests on a carved bed of crystal representing the ocean, but can be removed from the egg.

The c5,500 ton Standart was commissioned by Tsar Alexander III in Copenhagen . It was launched in 1895 and was 116 meters long, which made it the largest yacht in the world at that time. Outfitted with ornate fixtures, including mahogany paneling, crystal chandeliers, and other amenities (including a stable with a cow to provide the imperial children with fresh milk) it was a floating palace for the Russian Imperial Family for their vacations in the Baltic Sea. The Russian Imperial Family was vacationing on the Standart during the summer of 1914, when they received the news of the aassassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, in Sarajevo, marking the start of World War I . After the Russian Revolution the ship was placed in drydock until 1936, when she was converted to a minelayer. During World War she played a significant role in the defence of Leningrad.

The first, and definitely not the last, Monaco Poker Run was staged by AkzoNobel ’s Awlgrip and International Paint businesses, as well as co-sponsor National Marine , on Sunday, September 29. Despite some ferocious storms on the eve of the ride, the inaugural charity event was a huge success.

12 brave riders on 9 motorbikes gambled on the unpredictable Monaco weather

The 12 brave riders on 9 motorbikes who gambled on the unpredictable Monaco weather were rewarded with spectacular views, challenging yet fun roads and, the biggest surprise, bright sunshine as they headed into the French mountains. Taking in 4 stops and two sections of the legendary Monte Carlo Rallye, the ride was a complete success, not only for those who had the pleasure of riding but also for The Calvert Trust , the event’s nominated charity. The current sum raised, with further donations coming in daily, is €1760 and counting.

As is customary in such events the charity wasn’t the only winner. Prizes were awarded for a variety of ‘achievements’. Albert McIlroy of Optimus Navi was the overall winner with the best Poker hand whilst Stephen Hilton took best bike prize with his wonderful Ducati Monster S2RS. At the other end of the scale was International Paint’s own Ken Hickling, who won worst rental bike whilst the unfortunate, but gracious, Beninga Spederior of Wrede Consulting took home the literal wooden spoon.

The Monaco Poker Run sponsors and organisers would like to thank all those that donated to the event and especially those that were able to take part in the momentous journey. Planning for the 2014 event has started, with a new and exciting course in the pipeline.

The Monaco Yacht Show 2023: A Round Up of the Top Stories

By Frances Flannagan

After a truly spectacular edition of the Monaco Yacht Show this year, we take a look at some of the top news stories from the event. From new launches, to concept designs, this year’s show featured a host of exciting industry updates.

The Monaco Yacht Show 2023 undoubtedly saw a range of exciting updates for the industry; we take a look at six of the top news that was unveiled during the show. We delve into the announcement of the launch of the first Amels 80, the unveiling of two concept designs from Feadship and Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, the reveal of Benetti's 85m project and Rossinavi’s 66m diesel electric ALCHEMY, as well as taking a look at Lürssen's 97m CARINTHIA VII following her 10-month refit.

The First Amels 80 Launched

On schedule to be delivered in 2025, the first Amels 80’s new hull and superstructure were spotted outside of her build shed. Described by Sean Bianchi, Partner and Head of New Construction at Burgess, and Naval Architect, as a yacht which will ‘stand out amongst her peers and set the benchmark for future yachts’, her launch was highly exciting news announced by the shipyard on the first morning of the yacht show.

Designed by Espen Øino, Amels 80 features a holistic and modern exterior design, in keeping with the Amels DNA. She also features sustainable materials and innovative hybrid technology, a key factor of the next-generation Amels' design.

‘The Amels 80 is a design that will not age. Her modern strong lines will look as good in 10 years as the day she is delivered. She is a big ship, full of features, with an impressive interior volume. She is everything and more that you would expect from an 80-metre yacht. There is a sense of scale, and nothing is wasted,’ commented Espen Øino.

Her interiors are custom-built, penned by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, with a neutral and natural palette, allowing for the owner to add their own personal style. She can accommodate up to 14 guests, who can enjoy a 200 square metres sun deck, a waterside beach club which opens on three sides and a wellness area and spa, to name a few of the fantastic amenities on board.

Benetti’s Full-Custom Espen Øino-Designed 85m Project Announced

PROJECT LIFE, Benetti’s new full-custom 85m, is a welcome addition to the Italian yard’s megayacht fleet. Her exteriors have also been penned by Espen Øino, who has injected Benetti’s distinctive characteristics into PROJECT LIFE’s design: the capacity to invent new lifestyles, offering varied interpretations of this concept across the decks. All spaces onboard are designed with sociability in mind, for instance, the large revolving lounge that changes its focal point depending on the time of day.

Her interiors have been designed by Francois Zuretti, who has chosen a beautiful balance between the colours and the surrounding environment, with an expanded opening that allows natural light to enhance the spaces.

PROJECT LIFE is built with all the available technologies to help reduce consumption, including diesel-electric propulsion and integrated hybrid solar panels that collect solar and thermal energy to power appliances onboard.

A Look Inside Lürssen’s 97m CARINTHIA VII Following Refit

Following a 10-month refit by Lürssen at its Hamburg facilities, the results of CARINTHIA VII’s extensive refit were revealed at this year's Monaco Yacht Show, where she was presented to the charter market for the first time, represented by Fraser.

She was designed by Tim Heywood, regarded by many as one of the world’s first true mega yachts. Kept largely hidden from industry over the last 21 years, with her interior rarely seen, her introduction to the charter market has been eagerly awaited, as has the results of her refit.

Her new work includes redesigned exterior decks, new lounge and living areas and a new 12m/39’ pool and 90sqm air-conditioned gymnasium. Her interiors are sophisticated and elegant, with beautiful wooden flooring pervading the design and neutral beige and browns contrasted with cool-tone hues of blues and stunningly clean white stylings. She is a true masterpiece and an unmissable offering to the charter market.

Embracing Sustainability: Feadship Debuts Project DUNES

DUNE takes a significant step towards Feadship’s goal of Net-Zero superyachts, combining features that reduce energy demand with technology that eliminates emissions and increases efficiency. Each individual element of the design assists in reducing environmental impact, for instance, shading windows to reduce cooling requirements, however, when implemented together, they slash a superyacht’s environmental impact dramatically.

Inspired by the aesthetics of sand dunes, this vessel reflects the onboard lifestyle that today’s owners desire, with flexible, multi-purpose spaces, endless views, and a combination of sociable open-plan areas with cosy, intimate spaces. She has an asymmetrical superstructure with almost no straight lines, meaning that spaces drift into one another, furthering the notion of flow throughout the yacht, and the heavy use of glass seamlessly blends the interiors with the surroundings.

Her design, along with all Feadship concepts, is a true joint effort between Feadship, Studio de Voogt and the yard's Knowledge and Innovation department. With a wealth of expertise and experience across all collaborators, the shipyard’s concept designs are able to be of the highest possible quality.

AWARE, The Essence of Luxury, Presented by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design

Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design presented the 79.9m yacht concept AWARE at the Monaco Yacht Show, a ready-to-build, fully operational concept with a 1600 mm scale model. Her design combines proven technology with innovation and the use of the most precious and durable materials. At the forefront of this design is space optimisation, with an abundance of space on board, vast exterior decks and an unparalleled inside-outside connection,

AWARE has been described as the ‘Essence of Luxury’: a logical step in yacht design in which all space is optimised to give guests on board the best possible experience. Sander Sinot, Designer at the firm commented:

‘For the design of AWARE the focus is on maximising the space on board within the yacht’s limited structure. We designed open plan layouts for the beach club, lounges and exterior decks that offer inherent flexibility and ample space while reducing the number of decks.’

With exceptional features to optimise the outside areas, including a beach club with a three-metre high ceiling, the interiors have similarly been designed to provide ultimate functionality and a spectacular inside-out experience. She is a tri-deck design with an open plan pavilion on the bridge deck, allowing for unrestricted views of the ocean on all sides.

Rossinavi’s 66m Diesel Electric Motor Yacht ALCHEMY

Unveiled at Port Hercules was Rossinavi’s 66m M/Y ALCHEMY, a fully custom design by Vitruvius Yachts with interior and exterior styling by Enrico Gobbi. She features diesel-electric propulsion, propelled by rods to reduce the loss of energy between the engines and navigation speed.

ALCHEMY is an elegant tri-deck design with a focus on the outdoor areas and wellness aspects of the yacht. With a spacious central corridor, the forward owner’s cabin offers a clear view of the sea, creating a sense of openness in the design alongside a strong connection to the surroundings. A special emphasis has been placed on ensuring comfort on board, in particular the minimisation of vibrations, meaning that every technical and material choice has been considered to reduce noise and vibrations.

The atmosphere throughout this vessel is calm and elegant, with every single piece of furniture being bespoke. Enrico Gobbi commented:

‘Spa mood was the keyword for the interior design and exterior decor of this yacht; natural materials, soft colours, and essential shapes for the interiors. Soft indirect lights to 'wet' the simplicity of the forms, where the detail and construction quality had to emerge and characterize the space: 'detail makes the differences' this is the motto that we have followed more than ever in this project together with the owners.’

- - -

The 32nd edition of the Monaco Yacht Show was as spectacular as ever, we can only begin to imagine the wonders that the 2024 event will hold.

"The Amels 80 is a design that will not age. Her modern strong lines will look as good in 10 years as the day she is delivered." Espen Øino, Designer and Naval Architect

Our recent charter arranged by yachtsailing.gr was a great experience. Prior to the trip all of the communication was clear and easy, the expenses/fees were reasonable and clearly communicated. No hidden extras like other charters we’ve booked. The boat was clean and well appointed. Our captain, Spiros, was perfect. He had a great command of the boat, helped us plan an itinerary that really worked for us given our desires and the anticipated winds - a great balance of sailing and sightseeing. The sailing was fantastic. His passion for being under sail really shows. His warm demeanor definitely added to the success and relaxed atmosphere of our trip. He helped arrange taxis and reservations, was always available for questions, and made us feel very welcome aboard Poker Face. We’ll sail again with him in a heartbeat. Thanks to everyone at yachtsailing.gr for a great trip.

The excellent service provided by the crew, on a well maintained catamaran. The preparations went really smoothly with Yacht Sailing being very flexible to our wishes and taking care of many things that otherwise would have cost us a lot of time.  But… the main difference on top of this is what the crew made. Our Captain Spiros was in full control of the boat, provided lots of information on the shore visits, was a great companion. I admire his dedication to safety and treating the boat lik his own. Nefeli was our stewardess and was also a great companion. Hard working and fully dedicated to her work, ensuring we had a great time with truly excellent food and drink. We all became friends and that was absolutely a lot of added value. Thanks you two!

Our group of 8 friends spent a week on Poker Face with Spyros as our captain sailing the Cyclades. First of all, I would like to say that the experience from start to finish was absolutely wonderful. Yacht Sailing staff responded to queries promptly with required information. The port staff at arrival and departure were very professional and efficient - thank you Alex and staff. The cruise will leave us with a lifetime of memories. Spyros was a really pleasant and fun captain and we really appreciated being on his boat. We also elected the Hostess option which was absolutely a great decision. Nefeli prepared great meals for us while on board and we truly appreciated having her with us. I can't say enough about our experience on this trip.

We just returned from an amazing week on the catamaran Poker Face. Together with 7 friends we enjoyed the great weather, food and beautiful places in Greece. During this week we were very fortunate to have Spiros Vasileiou as our Skipper. Spiros wanted to make sure everybody felt comfortable on the boat so always checked the best options for the whole group. He showed us different Islands and also beautiful spots on the main land. Also he shared nice options for dinner, arranged quad riding for us and wine tasting. Even for October the weather was great and we could also enjoy two days of sailing. This was not just once in a lifetime experience, really worth to do again, so much more to explore. We would really recommend Spiros as a skipper to anyone else and book him again when we come back!

We accompanied a group of our friends on a week long sailing trip of the Cyclades Islands in early July on Pokerface and had the time of our lives. No joke, the best vacation experience we have ever had. Our Skipper Spiros Vasileiou and Hostess Gina Tasopoulou played no small part in that evaluation as they provided their assigned roles and responsibilities of course but went so far beyond that, they added a layer of authenticity to the trip with the traditional Greek cuisine prepared daily, the historical knowledge of the different islands and features, as guides on the islands and became an extended family to us, we still keep up with both of them today. I knew when we were planning this trip that we would be visiting some of the most beautiful places on the planet but was still in awe of what we were provided. We went to places that you just can’t get to without a capable vessel. The company proved to be the best choice as well, we encountered several other vessels of the fleet and got to know a couple of the other skippers, they all get along well and can work as a team if needed, at sea or on the islands. We planned this as a “once in a lifetime” type of adventure, and unfortunately that just isn’t accurate… we will return to sail again and again! There’s always more islands to see after all!

Great trip through the Saronic Islands as two couples. Our boat was just the right size, and with a Captain and a hostess, all of our needs were met. Spiros, the captain took us to some amazing destinations and made sure we had dinner recommendations every night. Our hostess, Aliki, cooked us some fabulous breakfasts and lunches, and make sure that we had everything we needed. And…when one of us got a throat infection, the captain personally found a doctor, scheduled the appointment and went to the location and took pictures of the entrance to unsure we were covered! We had a fabulous time and will return.

Sailing in the Greek Islands has been a dream for many years, and the wait was worth it! This was one of the best weeks of my life, and I believe my friends would agree. The boat was amazing, the food spectacular, the water and beaches were unlike anything I’ve seen before, and our skipper, Spiros and hostess, Gina were the icing on the cake! We visited beautiful Grecian towns, with trips to old churches, ruins, wonderful local artisan shops, and very good restaurants. Hours of diving into clear, gorgeous waters, snorkeling in tunnels and exploring coastlines as well as hours of blissful sailing were part of each day, as well as basking in the sun and reading, talking, drinking wine and chatting with friends and our wonderful captain and hostess. The accommodations were also very comfortable… so much more than I expected! Thank you, Spiros and Gina for the trip of a life time! Well, the first Greek sailing trip of a lifetime anyway! See you next time!

We had the most amazing week aboard Poker Face with Captain Spyros!!! I cried saying goodbye to him and leaving the yacht because it was the most incredible week of my life. Always follow Captain Spyros’s recommendations because they will exceed anything else! Thank you Captain Spyro, Eugene, Maria and Marianna for everything making this dream vacation come true.

Great time cruising the Greek Islands with YachtSailing, Gr from Alimos on an awesome catamaran, Poker Face with the most incredible Captain, Spyros Vassiliou & Hostess Maria Mandela! Our 2 weeks were awesome, seeing the most beautiful Islands. The Captain briefed us daily on weather & wind conditions & on our trip for the day, timing, locations, stops. Our Hostess waited on us hand & foot, providing delicious meals, snacks, fresh fruit & veggies daily with the best butcher meats! Good Greek beer & wine. Highly recommend this company & crew. We were fortunate enough to spend 2 beautiful weeks. It was a lifetime dream for us. Swam in some of the most beautiful beaches, unbelievable!

One of our best family holidays ever. Sailing from Athens to visit many different Islands was an amazing experience. Captain Spyros took us to the best beaches and harbours what made every day a new adventure. Being on the boat was being on your own private Island. The fresh breakfast and lunches by our lovely host Maria made us feel very special. It felt like being on our own private family cruise. Thank you Spyros and Maria for this unforgettable week.

A vacation to remember! - Visited June 2018

From the moment I reached out to Eugene via email for the first time, to the day we sadly said our good-bye’s, the team at yachtsailing.gr was phenomenal! Angelo not only made us feel safe the entire week, he also created an itinerary for us that checked off each one of our requests! Vicky was hands down the best decision we made for the week!! She took such great care of us...having our coffee in hand within minutes of waking up each morning and fed us amazing authentic Greek cuisine every day! We wanted to bring her home with us!! Sailing was a new adventure for all 4 of us but it will definitely not be our last...it has proven to be a phenomenal way to travel! Thank you a million times yachtsailing.gr for helping us to make memories that will last a lifetime!!

Amazing trip on the Poker Face with a great skipper!

We had an incredible trip over the past week on the Poker Face catamaran. Our skipper - Theodore - went above and beyond to make our voyage extremely fun, relaxing and memorable. We visited the islands of Hydra, Paros, Kithnos, and Siros - it was a ton of fun. From the very start the team at YachtSailing were extremely professional and accommodating. Theodore put together a fantastic itinerary based on our preferences, and kept a keen eye on the changing weather. One note: when ordering food ahead of time, make sure to confirm quantities as they tend to buy in kilos and not individual items (so 3 carrots actually means 3 kilos of carrots!). Overall, couldn’t recommend this trip any more. Amazing boat, fantastic crew, and beautiful sights. We’ll be back!

Excellent service made for a wonderful trip.

We returned a week ago from a 6 day trip on the Poker Face catamaran. It was wonderful. There was great communication from the beginning with Eugene and we felt like he worked with us on the price and listened to what we wanted in a boat. Once we arrived, we were thrilled with the catamaran. It was roomy, and had areas both in the sun and shade that we could hang out it. Our captain, Thodoris was the consummate professional. He sat down with us and we determined out itinerary together. He suggested a place that we had never heard of, and it ended up being off the beaten track, and the highlight of our trip. He worked hard to ensure our comfort, even moving the boat one evening to reduce wave action, and changing out the mooring ropes so that the noise at night was reduced. There were only three of us on the yacht, but we felt the price we paid was very reasonable. It was such a treat to have it just for our small family. My only suggestion is that you really don't need to bother with getting groceries ordered ahead of time. Each island will have grocery stores near the docks, and you can get whatever you want, without waste. It was very easy to get the provisions, as well as find great, reasonable restaurants nearby. Eugene met us upon our return to ensure everything was great on our trip, and it was. We hope to sail with this group again in the future.

I went on a trip with 3 other guests (2 couples) in late April/early May and we had an absolutely phenomenal time, and loved working with the Yacht Sailing Gr team. Upon first email, they were quick to respond and providing lots of clear information around every question we asked - Eugene made us feel like we were covered. Prior to arrival, they helped us with grocery shopping and stocking the boat. Finding the boat at the marina was easy (took 5 mins!), and they generously gave us an upgrade to the Poker Face because our other catamaran was having some engine issues. Poker Face is an astoundingly beautiful boat - everything was not only clean, but working in perfect order. So many wonderful places to lounge, read, play games or have a drink. Within an hour of getting situated, we were out on the water making our journey (groceries were already loaded in on the boat!) Eugene was there to greet us and helped us get situated, manage payment and work on route with our captain, which leads me to my next point... Our captain Theodore was incredible - he helped us plan a route that accommodated ALL of our needs/desires (less crazy/crowded, balance of Saronic islands and Cyclades), all while factoring in weather and experience on the journey. We had so much fun with him, and it wouldn't have been the same trip without him. All the same, he was also respectful of our space and gave us time to hang out independently as well. He was respectful, hilarious, accommodating, and always made us feel safe on the boat. Had lots of great restaurant, bar and hangout recommendations along the way that were phenomenal. Our journey was unforgettable and covered so many places we wanted to see in a short amount of time - Hydra, Kitnos, Paros, Siros and back, all in 6 days. I only wish we could have stayed longer! Our experience was so wonderful, I already have plans to return back to Greece and hopefully work with YachtSailing to explore other areas of the Cyclades for a longer period of time. The boat is your home base, your transportation and your entertainment - I loved life every day. I cannot thank the team enough for taking us out to seas, offering endless great recommendations and making our trip so special. We'll see you again soon!!

Just spent a magical week cruising around the Cyclades with captain George Maleas and our group of three couples. Having never done a trip like this before, we had lots of questions that were patiently and thoroughly answered by Eugene via email in the months leading up to our departure. Joanna was also helpful and kind while helping us with transfers, boat provisioning, and payment. We couldn't be happier about our amazing experiences with yachtsailing. Everything far exceeded our expectations from the quality of the catamaran to the places we visited to our knowledgeable captain. George really knows these islands well and took us to some beautiful coves for swimming and quintessential little island villages for exploring. We visited Poros, Milos, Kimolos, Serifos, and Kythnos and each island was more beautiful than the last. Thank you, George, Eugene, and the entire yachtsailing team for an unforgettable experience! It was a trip of a lifetime!

We are a family of five who travel often. Everyone agrees that this was one of our favorite trips ever. Our skipper George Maleas and hostess Josie were integral in making memories we will not soon forget. They both listened carefully to what we wanted and made suggestions accordingly. We ended up completely changing our itinerary based on their suggestions and were sooooo happy we did. We saw and experienced things the typical larger Greek Island Tourists are not privy to. Also noteworthy was the superb (REALLY superb) communication from the team (Eugene in particular). Rest assured this is a company who states all costs & information BEFORE booking. An honest company that can and should be trusted.

Just completed a week on Poker Face sailing the Cyclades and it was an amazing vacation experience! The entire process dealing with YachtSailing.gr was excellent and exceeded my expectations. From the initial booking, communication prior to arrival, check-in and departure was all handled professionally and as they said it would be. Our Captain, Spiros, and hostess, Aliki, truly made the experience exceptional and the vacation unforgettable! They worked so well as a Team to curate a personal and special experience for us each day. Prior to departing Spiros sat with us and asked what we wanted on our vacation - how much we wanted to sail each day, how much time we wanted at the beach, and how much time we wanted to spend on each island. Aliki asked about our food preferences, drink requests and anything else we wanted / needed. Everyday Spiros and Aliki exceeded our expectations, making our vacation a truly unique and memorable experience. Spiros communicated our route, expected travel time and sea/wind conditions. Aliki went shopping and purchased fresh items for breakfast and lunch (and ice for me!) - her meals were simply incredible! The quality, selection, and taste were incredible!! I cannot express enough how awesome Siros and Aliki are!! I would absolutely do business with YaghtSailing.gr again - and will absolutely request Spiros and Aliki!!
