The multi-award winning 90.1m/295'7" expedition yacht 'Ice' (ex. Air) was built by Lurssen in Germany at their Bremen shipyard. Her interior is styled by English designer design house Terence Disdale and she was delivered to her owner in May 2005. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Tim Heywood Design.

Ice has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 14 guests in 7 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 27 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Ice is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin electric ABB (CO propulsors type 5) 3,353hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 16 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots with a range of up to 6,000 nautical miles from her 400,000 litre fuel tanks at 16 knots. Ice features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 105,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Germanischer Lloyd ✠ 100 A5 Motor Yacht ERS, ✠ MC AUT classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.

ICE Yacht – Supreme $150M Superyacht

ICE yacht is a 90 m (296 ft) long superyacht that was launched in 2005. She was built by Lurssen shipyards which is one of the most renowned yacht builders in the world.

ICE Yacht was built in Germany by Lurssen , one of the world’s most prestigious shipbuilders. It was launched in 2005.

This gorgeous vessel can seat 14 in 7 cabins guests as well as 28 in 14 cabins staff members in luxury.

The ICE superyacht won multiple “Superyacht of the Year” at the 2006 World Superyacht Awards.

ICE yacht interior

To ensure that the inside met the owner’s exact specifications, Terence Disdale was entrusted to design and create the custom interior for the ICE Yacht.

The inside of the yacht is decorated in a similar manner to the outside, with bright and airy elements that complement the ship’s overall style.

The interior is incredibly well made and polished in an exquisite manner across the whole piece.

The upholstery is made out of light cream fabrics and leather, with exotic wood accents added.

This exterior was done by Igor Tim Heywood and his team, who designed the outside of the ICE Yacht.

He wanted the ICE Yacht’s exterior to look like it had a lot of space, with deck passages that looked like they were from a movie.

The inside of the yacht is also big and luxurious, with a minimalist modern design. This is what Tim Heywood wanted when he made the ICE Yacht.

He was able to achieve what he set out to do. A few carefully chosen, high-quality materials are used throughout the whole yacht.

Toward the front of the main deck, there is a beautiful owner’s private outdoor lounge area.

The ICE has very low emissions, vibrations, and noise, as well as a very clean operation when it was delivered to its new owners.

Specifications

The ICE Yacht is 90.1 meters (295.7 feet) in length and has a draught of 4.84 meters (15.11ft). She has a displacement of 28 tonnes in 14 staterooms and a peak speed of 18 knots.

Her cruising speed is around 14 knots in seven staterooms. She is powered by two ABB drive units, according to the manufacturer.

Ice was the first yacht to include Azipod drive units in lieu of traditional shafted diesel engines; these devices enable her to go up to 6000 nautical miles at a speed of 14 knots in seven berths.

Annual operating costs for the ICE Yacht are estimated to be between $10-50 million.

New U-Boat Worx Sub for Superyacht with Ice Class

When the Shinkai is completed, she will be the world’s first superyacht designed around a submersible, according to U-Boat Worx. The 54.9-meter vessel is currently undergoing final outfitting at the Feadship yard in Aalsmeer in the Netherlands, and delivery is slated for later this year.

The ice-class Shinkai, which means “deep sea” in Japanese, will be accommodating a new U-Boat Worx C-Researcher 3, which is able to dive in such extreme environments as the Northwest and Northeast Passages.

With ocean exploration at the forefront of the owner’s mind, the Shinkai is described as setting a new bar for bespoke, purpose-built, sub-orientated design.

Dutch submersible manufacturer U-Boat Worx is the largest private submarine supplier in the world. This C-Researcher 3 – winner of a Red Dot Product Design Award – can dive to depths of 480-meters to the heart of the so-called Twilight Zone. This largely undiscovered area is where around 90 percent of the world’s fish live.

Capable of remaining submerged for up to 16 hours, the C-Researcher 3 promises to provide views of squid, krill, jellies, and fish, all super-abundant in the mesopelagic zone, according to company information.

The owner of the Shinkai will be able to walk out of his master suite and step straight into his private three-seater sub. To facilitate this, the yacht’s aft deck sits flush with the submarine hatch. For further convenience, the C-Researcher 3 is the world’s first submersible fitted with an elevator to lower passengers into their seats.

According to U-Boat Worx, all of its subs have a single lifting point, which allows for safe and quick launch and recovery. Aboard the Shinkai, this is said to be further enhanced with a man-riding crane installed on the yacht’s aft deck. With an almost eight-meter reach, the heavy-duty crane can deploy and retrieve the 6.9-ton submarine with ease.

The C-Researcher is battery-powered and holds two passengers in addition to the pilot. This model is ruby red with grey leather interior and was built to the owner’s specified short delivery time, the company said.

The Netherlands-based U-Boat Worx is described as a world leader in advanced private submarines which are built at the company’s headquarters in Breda.

Nord in the Seychelles

The 142 metre Nord is undoubtedly one of the most notable launches of the past few years. She became Lürssen's biggest build to date when she hit the water in 2021 and has continued to turn heads with her sheer size, squared-off bow and striking duo-tone hull and superstructure. After a summer well spent cruising in the Mediterranean, Nord made her way to the Maldives in time for Christmas and is now sitting pretty in the Seychelles, anchored off from its capital Victoria. 

Lusine in London

At 60 metres in length, the Heesen motor yacht Lusine is the largest steel superyacht to be built by Heesen and was spotted cruising into the mouth of the River Thames on February 14. She is one of a string of new European builds that have arrived in London in the past few months to be delivered. Lusine was built under the name Project Falcon and recently completed intensive sea trials in the North Sea, reaching a top speed of 17.7 knots.

La Datcha in Peru

The 77 metre polar expedition yacht La Datcha has made her way back up the South American coastline after spending the winter season doing what she does best - exploring the frozen fields of Antarctica. Equipped with an ice classed hull and helicopter, La Datcha has been to-ing and fro-ing between Ushuaia and Antarctica over the past few months but is now enjoying the warmer waters of Peru.

Arbema in Cuba

Arbema , previously known as Azteca , came under new ownership in 2021 in one of the biggest sales of the year. The 72 metre CRN superyacht was snapped up after just three months on the market and her new owner has naturally been spending the winter season cruising the Caribbean. She was most recently spotted pulling into Havana, Cuba. 

Azamanta in Bermuda

The unmistakable bronze hull of the 55 metre Heesen Azamanta has been spotted pulling into port in Bermuda. She was delivered in 2015 as the first in the Dutch shipyard's 55 Steel series and has been under private ownership ever since. Azamanta 's cruising calendar is often dictated by the seasons - summers in the Mediterranean and winters in the Caribbean - but an ice-reinforced steel hull means she can travel wherever she pleases.

2024 di men's ice hockey championship selections announced.

INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee has selected the 16 teams that will participate in the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship.

The championship playoff format involves four predetermined regional sites with four teams assigned to each site.  The regional winners advance to the Men’s Frozen Four.  The entire championship uses a single-elimination format.

Automatic qualification privileges are granted to the postseason champions of the six conferences.  The remainder of the field is selected at large.

Boston College is the No. 1 overall seed.  The other No. 1 seeds, in order, include Boston U., Denver and Michigan St.

Almost Heaven nets food safety honors

Almost heaven ice cream locations win food safety honor.

Almost Heaven Ice Cream , with four locations in Stark County, has once again been awarded the Grade A Food Safety certification from the Stark County Health Department for their commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety practices.

“This year we are especially excited about it because we opened our fourth location in Canal Fulton in June of last year. All four of our ice cream shops have earned the award this spring,” said director of operations, Mackenzie Anderson.

She continued. “Our general managers lead their young team members by example and set the highest standards as we teach and train them how to become young professionals.”

Almost Heaven Ice Cream shops now holds four of the five Grade A Food Safety awards given in Stark County. The fifth award is held by The Hartville Kitchen .

Almost Heaven has ice cream shops in Alliance, Canal Fulton, Plain Township and Hartville.

Gervasi Vineyard invites you to sip and party in the distillery

Gervasi Vineyard , 1700 55th St. NE in Canton, plans an event at 6 p.m. April 10 at the Still House’s Distillery, allowing attendees first access to Gervasi Spirits' release of Pink Peppercorn Gin.

Attendees of the event, priced at $21 per person, can meet and have a bottle of gin signed by Gervasi’s head distiller, Shae Pridemore.

Meijer donates $2 million to Midwest food banks

The parent company of Meijer grocery stores announced it has made a $2 million donation to 30 food bank partners to help fight hunger.

“We recognize the vital role food banks play in addressing hunger and are proud to stand alongside our partners to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity,” Rick Keyes, president and CEO of Meijer, said in a news release.

Meijer has a location at 4934 Fulton Drive NW in Jackson Township. Locally, Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is one of the 30 recipients of Meijer's donation.

KFC adds saucy nuggets to menu

Kentucky Fried Chicken has launched saucy nuggets on Monday at its restaurants nationwide. The new item can be ordered in one of five sauce flavors that now include three new sauces. KFC nugget fans can choose from honey sriracha; Korean BBQ; sticky chicky sweet ‘n sour sauce; Nashville hot; and Georgia gold.
