Damen announces launch of the third Amels 60 yacht

Damen Yachting has officially announced the launch of the third hull in the 60-meter  Amels 60 superyacht series , also known as Amels 6003 . Launched from Amel’s Vlissingen shipyard facilities in the Netherlands on 3 March, the yacht will now undergo outfitting in preparation for her completion.

Characterized by distinctive, sophisticated and elegant lines, the Amels 6003 represents Damen Yachting’s vision for the future of superyachting.

The 817 GT yacht features exterior styling by Espen Oeino, with naval architecture by Damen Yachting whilst the luxurious interiors were brought together by UK-based design studio Winch Design.

Providing the ultimate onboard cruising experience for her guests, the motor yacht boasts hybrid power and propulsion technology to allow a sustainable performance and exquisite comfort onboard. Not only this, the latest Amels 6003 heavily focuses on creating ample space onboard, from her sweeping sundeck and large swim platform to her folding Owners Suite balcony, perfect for relaxation and luxurious living. The generous space arrangement also allows a 9-meter luxury tender to be stowed on the foredeck, allowing guests to travel to and from the shore in style.

Providing accommodation for 12 guests across 6 well-appointed cabins, the yacht can also carry 12 crew plus the captain to ensure a seamless cruising experience. 

Amels 6003 is the third hull of the Amels 60 Limited Edition yachts, following from the first hull in the series, superyacht COME TOGETHER , which was delivered in June 2022, and the second hull motor yacht ENTOURAGE , which was delivered in February 2023.

Damen Yachting launches third Amels 60

Damen Yachting launched the Amels 6003 yacht at its yard in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, on 3 March. The yacht will now undergo outfitting in preparation for its completion.

The Amels 60 represents Damen Yachting ’s vision for the future of superyachting. The 60-metre, 830-GT design combines generations of heritage with the latest developments, forming a bridge to the yachting world of tomorrow.

In addition to its distinctive lines from Espen Øino, the yacht boasts hybrid power and propulsion technology for both sustainable performance and improved on board comfort.

Generous space arrangement

The Amels 60 features a sun deck, swim platform and folding owners suite balcony. The generous space arrangement also provides the means for the yacht to host a 9-metre luxury tender, stowed on the foredeck. The yacht can accommodate twelve guests and twelve crew plus captain. Winch Design is responsible for the interior design.

‘We are very excited to see the yacht enter the water for the first time,’ says Jorrit Pilaar, Sales Manager at Damen Yachting. ‘With this milestone moment behind we’re very keen to move forward to the next stages and prepare this third Amels 60 for this year’s yachting season.’

Focused on the experience

The design of the Amels 60 is focused on the onboard experience, giving feelings of spaciousness throughout. This includes her ample Sun Deck, Swim Platform, and folding Owners Suite balcony.

For Owners looking to get out on the water this summer, opportunities like this don’t come around often. New to market and ready to set sail this August, this third Amels 60 boasts a sleek Espen Øino exterior, contemporary interiors by Winch Design and proven ocean-going naval architecture by Damen Yachting. Amels 6003 offers 60-metres of exemplary Dutch yacht building heritage, sought-after Amels pedigree and trusted Limited Editions investment value.

Charter or Private

With room for up to 12 guests and a crew of 13 plus Captain, this Amels 60 is well-suited to both private and charter use. The overall design focuses on the onboard user experience with the vast Sun Deck being one of the best features and the largest of yachts in this size range. Optimised open tender storage area on the foredeck provides room for two large tenders which are stored outside, and yet are not visible, complementing the exterior lines. The geometry of the trapezoid windows add to her unique design signature.

Owner’s Suite

The spacious Owner’s Suite with big windows provides a private and relaxing area extending from inside to out, maximising ocean views and use of light. The large hydraulic foldable balcony offers a private area to enjoy whilst inside attention to design detail and space is impeccable. There is a beam-to-beam bathroom and walk-in closet on the forward side.

Guest Experience

The Guest Deck with four fabulous guest suites is connected to the beach club, so guests have their own direct indoor access from the guest suites to the Main Deck and the Beach Club. All cabins sleep two and have beautiful appointed bathrooms. Two cabins are equipped each with two single beds that can easily be converted to one double bed. The Beach Club is where Amels 6003 really connects life on board to the fun, relaxation and adventure that awaits outside. This area features access to the swim platform, a sauna, steam shower and seating arrangement. There is also ample storage for water toys.

Exterior Entertainment

The Sun Deck doesn’t just deliver on size. This is an area that stands out for ticking the box on every level when it comes to exterior entertainment. The windows, which are not fixed, provide a open air flow ensuring this indoor-outdoor space is as flexible in use as possible. The enlarged jacuzzi with swim jet ensures guests have the feeling and similar experience to that of a pool, there is a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with a teppanyaki grill and integrated exhaust fan and cinematic set-up for star-set film nights. There is a touch and go heli deck, which can also be used as a sun bathing area. Another option is to make use of the provisions in place for the installation of gym equipment.

Interior Setup

One of the features specifically of this Amels 60 are the floor to ceiling windows, allowing for natural sunlight to flood in and offering mesmerizing panoramic views. A deviation from the original Amels 60 design and one that complements the Winch Design interiors beautifully. The staircase area boasts a beautiful wall decoration handcrafted out of resin. A blue ocean wave artwork realised in layers of blue and pearl tramazite resin and liquid metal inlays.

Third hull of the new 60-meter series has been seen under tow heading for finishing. This one was under tow at the end of February from the Polish yard in Gdansk. It is believed this one will be finished in maybe spring or summer 2023. Once again, Espen Oeino is the series exterior design. As for the concept designer for the interior that would be Studio Indigo. With this series though an owner can go a number of directions with the interior in fact the yard had Winch Designs in on the interiors too with two concepts, 'Moonlight' and 'Barefoot' concepts. Of course we are not saying any of these are being used for 6003.

Highlights of her design include an ample sun deck, sizeable swim platform, and a folding balcony off the owner’s suite. This week, the latest Amels 60 began her series of sea trials on the North Sea. The new 60-metre superyacht is currently for sale at Damen Yachting. As a very appealing opportunity for buyers on the new-build market, the next Amels 60 will be ready in August 2023 to let her Owner enjoy the height of the summer season. Following her award-winning sistership COME TOGETHER and the customized ENTOURAGE, the next Amels 60 features a distinctive exterior design by Espen Øino with signature geometric windows. The contemporary interiors are by the well-known interior design studio, Winch Design.

She obviously found an owner, she is delivered now with the name "Khalidah". Today we proudly delivered the third Amels 60 superyacht, named KHALIDAH. The 60-metre Amels Limited Editions, now handed over to her Owner, has opted to take up port with us at the Amels Headquarters in Vlissingen City until final departure. The onward itinerary of the Amels 60 KHALIDAH is yet to be confirmed by the Owner.

KHALIDAH left the drydock 09/11.

KHALIDAH departed the Damen Yachting premises 05/01 for Gib on her maiden trip.

Khalidah: Damen Yachting's third Amels 60 christened and delivered

Damen Yachting has delivered the third unit in its 60-metre Amels 60 series as Khalidah, a name meaning "immortal" or "eternal". The yacht will be based in Vlissingen Port until she undertakes her maiden voyage.

The 830GT superyacht features exterior design by Espen Øino , with a slightly flared bow, long lines of glazing along the main and upper decks and distinctive geometric windows amidships. Similarly to Come Together , Winch Design is responsible for the interior of hull three.

The third Amels 60 features a hybrid propulsion package and is designed around user experience, resulting in a 162-square-metre sundeck, touch-and-go helipad, and generous owner’s suite. On Khalidah , the owner has opted for ocean-themed art works and an ambient music and lighting system that is controlled by a touch of a button throughout the yacht.

The sundeck benefits from a spa pool with a swim-jet function and a cinema set-up. The touch-and-go helipad can also be used as a sunbathing spot or a unique gym area. Elsewhere, two tenders may be stored on the foredeck. 

Joppe Osté, project manager at Damen Yachting called the hybrid propulsion "the best solution solution" for reducing emissions, noise and vibrations while benefitting from reduced fuel costs. “It also allows you to cruise up to a certain speed without using the main engines, solely cruising on the generators,” he added. 

Speaking about Khalidah , owner's representative Nick Flashman, director and founder of Deeside Maritime, said he had worked on several new builds from Damen Yachting and Amels over the years. "It was this experience and knowledge that the owner and family office were looking for when appointing someone to not only oversee the crucial final stages of the build but to take the operational management of the yacht forward beyond delivery,” said Flashman.

He added: "Today’s delivery represents one of the more significant milestones as, together with the yard and the owner’s team, we mark the move from build towards onboard enjoyment.”

Full disclosure. I love all of Damen Yachting ’s newly rebranded Xplorer line of crossover superyachts that combine all the capabilities of an expedition yacht with all the over-the-top luxury of a more conventional yacht. I love the way they dare to be just a bit different too.

According to advance reports the concept was conceived with customization in mind while offering a number of configuration options to suit any lifestyle. Xplorer Design Manager Enrique Tintore explains, “The way the Xplorer has been designed allows for a high level of flexibility to suit any extreme environment or refined landscape. If a helicopter isn’t essential for you, we’ve got many other options for that space. Need a conference room or a seventh guest cabin? Or a separate gym and a high-spec laboratory? We can make that happen.”

The configuration options include everything from a below deck helicopter hangar, and large gym and wellness center, to a massive twin tender garage setup with a fully-equipped dive center. And for many who don’t require such serious heli-ops storage capability, the large aft area can be configured into wall-to-wall lounge and beach club too.

The flexibility in the design does not stop at configuration options. For the exterior design, Damen Yachting has once again partnered with Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture to further develop the Xplorer 80’s exterior lines. But the Dutch builder has also partnered up with a number of additional exterior and interior designers to provide a unique set of alternatives centered around the same base platform. For the exterior, alternative designs have been created by Espen Øino, Harrison Eidsgaard and Azure Yacht Design.

For the interior design concepts, Damen Yachting has partnered with London-based design studio Harrison Eidsgaard. The result is a custom designed for long-term and luxurious living. Known for their quality and personal attention to detail, the Harrison Eidsgaard team has developed a Manhattan loft-inspired space that encompasses how you like to explore and experience your passions. With refined details, smart storage and a warm ambience throughout, every step you take around this yacht has been considered. "This interior can cover every journey and any lifestyle - all you need to do is immerse yourself." Ben Harrison, co-founder of Harrison Eidsgaard. Alternative interior design concepts have also been provided by Winch Design and Reymond Langton Design.

Damen Yachting’s Marketing Manager Sarah Flavell explains. “We wanted to make the original SeaXplorer branding more relevant for today’s and tomorrow’s luxurious yet adventurous yachting needs. While the DNA within the Xplorer 80 proudly carries all of the original SeaXplorer key attributes, we wanted to update the way the brand was presented to better reflect the forward-thinking nature of this new 80-metre Xplorer. The result is that the Xplorer 80 absolutely embodies the brand values associated with the Xplorer range bringing extensive capability, unrivalled autonomy and above all luxury space and lifestyle to the most extreme corners of the globe.”
