Brand new from the lead keel up, Najad's new 395 and her centre-cockpit sister are billed as 'mini superyachts'. At 40ft, do they live up to the promise? Graham Snook finds out

The Najad 395 AC is the Swedish boatyard’s first all-new boat for some time, but not the first to offer both aft cockpit and centre cockpit on the same hull.

There have been revamps of models with the changes of the company’s ownership, but the eagerly awaited 395 is not only new from her lead keel up, she’s the first Najad designed by Farr Yacht Design with a Ken Freivokh Design interior.

Both these design companies have a vast portfolio of work from the superyacht market – one reason that she’s touted as a ‘mini-superyacht’.

The moniker has much to back it up, though, on the interior especially.

Galley Najad 395 AC

The galley is over 2m (6f 7in) long and is well designed for use at sea. The Corian top from the galley goes all the way to the forward bulkhead. Credit: Graham Snook

Few production yachts have as many styling details, carried off as well
as they have on the 395.

Of course this detailing and workmanship doesn’t come cheap, even if she is voluminous for her length.

Performance

Sunshine easing its way though the hull windows
and 9-14 knots of breeze rocking the boat woke me on the day of the test sail; better than the 20-30 knots the day before.

On the wind she’ll point to around 28-30º, but she was more comfortable, and sailed faster, a little freer.

She was soon making speeds
of 6-7 knots, and was feeling more alive.

She has a regal air to her, and feels solid and graceful – rather than large and lumbering.

Najad 395 AC deck

The mainsheet was aft of the helm, but has been moved forward. Credit: Graham Snook

She carries her way though tacks the reassuring way
that moderate displacement yachts do.

I was worried how she would feel, given her 1.32m (4ft 4in) high topsides and raised cockpit, but you still feel like you’re in the boat rather than sailing on her.

Close-hauled out into the less-sheltered waters – where a swell was running from the wind the day before – she handled it with ease and gave a wonderfully comfy ride; her rounded forward sections cushioning the way ahead.

cockpit control Najad 395 AC

The optional electric winches and headsail furling could be controlled from the helm. Credit: Graham Snook

Bearing away
and easing sheets, she picked up her skirt and jogged along nicely.

Speed and comfort don’t make good bedfellows,
but she showed respectable figures while retaining her grace and composure throughout.

Her 80hp engine made 7.1 knots at 1800rpm – 57hp is standard.

The Test Verdict

For a 40ft yacht she costs a lot.

Now, that’s not to say she’s expensive; you get well specced and beautifully crafted yacht for your money; I struggled to find anywhere onboard where I could see quality had been compromised in favour of cost.

Anchor lid Najad 395 AC

The two-part anchor lid is nice, but the electric furling restricts bow roller access. Credit: Graham Snook

Not even her displacement has been compromised at 12,400kg, she’s 800kg heavier than the substantial Sirius 40DS, no lightweight herself, and almost 1.5 tonnes heavier than the centre cockpit Hallberg Rassy 40MKII – compare that to 8,200kg of an equivalent size Bavaria and it’s easy to see she’s been built to be a comfortable home from home without compromise.

Her displacement gives her a wonderfully solid feel on the water, with no creeks or groans as she marches on.

She looks in proportion and purposeful – a surprise given the high topsides; she dwarfs many yachts and looked like a magpie compared to the other chicks in the Najad nest.

Would she suit you and your crew?

If you’re a couple that want to sail far an wide, with the odd occasional guests, I’d forego this layout and go for the single aft cabin and all the extra deck stowage that come with it.

This layout works more for an occasional offshore cruiser with more regular guests.

Down below Najad 395 AC

The use of different coloured and textured fabric gives the interior a stylish feel. Credit: Graham Snook

The Najad 395 AC is a wonderfully built boat that has a commanding feel on the water, few boats can compare.

If you’re after a centre cockpit version with a large owners aft cabin this is an option too.

She can be all things to those who can afford her.

Najad 395 AC forward cabin

The large forward cabin has the option of a vee berth or offset double, and an en-suite heads/shower or a walk-in wardrobe. Credit: Graham Snook

There are few production cruisers that can compete with the workmanship and overall quality of Najad; every aspect of her feels solid, from the door handles to the reading lights she oozes the refined opulence and quality, she’s has a tastefully a modern style about her built with traditional values.

In this cost-saving world quality is usually the first casualty, thankfully there are still companies where the quality of the product comes first.

Quality Swedish Craftsmanship – A Brief History of Najad Yachts

October 9th, 2023

a-brief-history-of-najad-yachts-1-main

The Najad Shipyard, in Henån on the island of Orust, is an iconic Swedish shipbuilding company located just a hop and a skip away from Berthon Scandinavia’s offices. Since its inception, Najad have been dedicated to constructing a diverse range of high quality cruising yachts from 30 to 60 feet. All are meticulously designed to provide not only an enjoyable sailing experience but also a source of delight for their owners, offering a balanced mix of performance, comfort and safety at sea.

The History of the Najad Shipyard

a-brief-history-of-najad-yachts-2

The Island of Orust and its surroundings has long been synonymous with the build of high quality sailing yachts and the island is also home to Hallberg-Rassy, Malö Yachts, Regina af Vindö and Sweden Yachts among others. With its shipbuilding legacy dating back to as early as the 12th century ** , Orust provided an ideal setting for the establishment of Najadvarvet AB by two dedicated yachtsmen, Berndt Arvidsson and Thorwald Karlsson, in 1967.

Najadvarvet’s journey began with the construction of the first Najad in 1971, a 34-foot yacht designed by Olle Enderlein. This yacht marked the beginning of their legacy in constructing high quality yachts, seamlessly blending reliable sailing performance with enduring, timeless design.

Bernt Arvidsson retired in 2005, and sold the yard to Alfred Van Wincoop from the Netherlands, with a minority shareholding held by an investor group headed by Berthon USA’s Alan Baines. During this time, several new models were introduced in rapid succession, with a new modern interior styling by Rhoades Young. These included the evergreen 440CC and AC, the 405, 355, 505 and of course the flagship of the range, the Najad 570. The US based investor group sold its holdings in early 2008 to new owners from the UK and Norway.

The financial crisis was brutal for the entire boatbuilding industry and the yard also suffered, hence Najadvarvet AB was acquired by Nord West Yachts. Renamed Najad AB in 2014, the yard has continued its commitment to building high quality bluewater cruising yachts, designed with a focus on ease of handling by a crew of two, and the capability for comfortable offshore sailing and planet circuits. The company has recently gone full circle and has bought back its original boatyard in Henån, where it currently has several new Najad 451’s in build as well as a thriving storage and service yard and marina with well over 200 yachts in storage. Unsurprisingly the majority of these are Najads.

Najad’s Current Yacht Range

Najad 395 (centre cockpit / aft cockpit).

The Najad 395 is a collaboration between Najad, Farr Yacht Design and Ken Freivokh Design. The interior has been thoughtfully designed with a choice of either a two or three cabin layout and with either one or two heads compartments. There is plenty of opportunity for customisation with a large optional inventory.

The 395CC is a modern bluewater cruising yacht with a spacious well-protected centre cockpit, that is perfect for safe and comfortable ocean crossings.

Equally suited to long distance cruising or coastal cruising, the 395AC has a spacious Caribbean-style aft cockpit with twin helm positions.

Najad 505CC Next Generation

The Najad 505CC designed by Judel/Vrolijk is full of updates and improvements on previous Najads. With classic lines, this centre cockpit yacht excels on the water and added to the obvious Najad DNA comes a light and bright interior with easy handling and rewarding sailing performance.

Najad 451 (Centre Cockpit / Aft Cockpit)

Designed by Najad and Judel/Vrolijk & Co, the Najad 451 is a distinctive yacht. Despite being only 45 feet, she is remarkably efficient on the water and her helmsman will find her very responsive. The 451 delivers comfort below decks and a modern, elegant interior with clean lines, abundant natural light and masses of volume for her size.

The 451CC is designed with the focus on cruising in comfort from the safe, well-protected centre cockpit.

The 451AC , is an aft cockpit yacht with twin helms and is perfect for social cruising and island hopping. She also has a sunbed on the aft deck.

Najad 570CC

Thee 570CC is conceived and built to cross oceans, with straightforward technology for easy maintenance. She has a light and airy interior with sweeping deck saloon windows, open deck areas and twin helms in a fully enclosed cockpit.

Berthon & the Najad Brand

a-brief-history-of-najad-yachts-4

As a Brokerage House that specialises in high quality bluewater cruising yachts, Berthon have always been hugely enthusiastic about Najad yachts and our sailing brokers across all our international offices have extensive knowledge and experience of the Najad yacht brokerage market.

Berthon Scandinavia’s Managing Director, Magnus Kullberg, worked for Najad for 11 years before setting up his own yacht brokerage in 2011. During his 11-year tenure, he was involved in the production and development of both new and existing models and was also responsible for client interactions throughout the sales and build process. Needless to say, his knowledge of all things Najad is second to none.

Alan Baines’ love for Najad began during a tour of the Najad shipyard whilst selling a brokerage yacht at nearby Bröderna Martinsson Boatyard in 2002. This led to the establishment in 2002 of Scandinavian Yachts, a US based company in Newport, Rhode Island that was formed to represent and promote Najad Yachts in New England. In 2005, Alan took his involvement with Najad a step further, leading the investor group that purchased and held a 40% share of Najadvarvet until 2008. In 2010, Scandinavian Yachts merged with Berthon and became Berthon USA. Alan is the go to person to talk to about Najad in the USA today.

are najad yachts any good

The Najad 355 is a modest-size sailboat ready for the long haul, and with its strong epoxy-composite structure and low center of gravity, the Judel/Vrolijk & Co. design has what it takes to turn coastal cruising into a jaunt to Bermuda and adventures that lie well beyond.

Stepping aboard, I found the kind of harmony that only comes from a designer and builder who are in sync with the purpose of a given project. The hull, deck, rig, and accommodations work together to deliver a sailboat to go places. The cockpit is snug and safe, with dry, comfortable seating behind a windshield-and-folding dodger arrangement that protects the companionway and the forward edge of the cockpit. The deck is easy to traverse, and the combination of the traditional teak deck and modern hardware with sensible sheet and running-rigging leads underscores the dual theme of aesthetics and functionality.

Under way, the racing pedigree of the 355’s designer was apparent in the featherlight feel of the helm, the tight tacking angles, and the efficient sail plan. In 10 to 14 knots of breeze, it sailed at 6 knots, marching along with a comfortable angle of heel. A nicely cut triradial mainsail and a deck-sweeping, nearly masthead jib provided plenty of power, and bearing off to a 120-degree apparent-wind angle still kept the boat going at more than 6 knots. If passagemaking were in the offing, a higher-cut foot for the furling headsail and a removable inner forestay to hank on a storm jib would be easy options to add.

With sails down, the 28-horsepower Volvo (a 40-horsepower option also is available) moved the vessel in flat seas at 7.1 knots at a cruising rpm of 2,200. Hull speed had been reached, and upping the rpm to 2,500 didn’t increase boat speed at all. The saildrive ran smoothly, but it was a little noisy below. The rudder remained responsive, and there was no vibration from prop thrust. In reverse, the boat maneuvered easily, turning with just a small amount of rudder deflection.

The hull shape is full aft and fine forward, with more dead rise than the raceboats designed by Judel/Vrolijk usually exhibit. Consequently, the boat has good form stability for a 35-footer yet lacks the bone-thumping ride of a raceboat. The external-ballast keel is an iron foil/lead bulb combo that leverages the stiff nature of a cast-iron foil and the density of lead. It’s attached to the hull with stainless-steel keel bolts. The rudder is made with a stainless-steel stock, with welded webs under the foam-and-fiberglass blade.

All the hull skin inside that could be seen showed signs of high-quality glasswork. The evident attention paid during the lamination process was impressive, and such details as the lap seam in the upper bulwark joint and core removal around hardware-attachment points also pointed to a well-made boat.

The Najad 355 is built with higher-cost materials such as epoxy resin and Divinycell core and is vacuum bagged, a sign of a high-tech rather than a run-of-the-mill approach to boatbuilding. This is the smallest boat in the Najad line, but it benefits from a builder accustomed to building highly stressed structures in much larger vessels.

The rig is a Seldén double-spreader, deck-stepped spar with hefty standing rigging. One of my favorite tests for any deck-stepped rig is to stand in the cabin by the compression post while the vessel is nosed into the wind and note the effect of a momentarily flogging mainsail. On well-built hulls, there’s no feeling of a wet terrier trying to shake its fur dry. And in this case, there was no movement at all: The hull and deck worked in conjunction with the chainplates and grid system to immobilize the spar-a welcome trait when a deck-stepped mast is used aboard an oceangoing vessel.

The cabin is light and airy, and the accommodations are spacious, with a European flair setting off well-crafted woodwork that avoids spartan minimalism. The wide beam is carried aft and provides room under the cockpit sole for a double berth, a bunk that’s just right in cooler regions but might be a little warm in the tropics. A roomy head with a shower stall lies just to starboard of the companionway ladder. The L-shaped galley, to port, features a two-burner stove, a twin centerline sink, and enough counter space to get the job done. It’s not a domain for the gourmet, but after all, this is a 35-footer, not a 40-footer.

The aft-facing chart table works in conjunction with the starboard settee, which, like its partner to port, can double as a decent sea berth. Between the berths stands a drop-leaf table. Forward of the main bulkhead is a conventional V-berth and locker space. The genius lies not in the amenities in the layout but in the way they work in the available space.

The Najad 355 won the 2008 CW Boat of the Year award for Best Small Cruiser because it stood out in a tough class thanks to attributes that range from user-friendly sailing characteristics to comfortable accommodations that work equally well in port or under way.

Ralph Naranjo was a 2008 CW Boat of the Year judge.

The BOTY judges found lots on which to agree as they proclaimed the Najad 355 to be the Best Small Cruiser of 2008: great sails, solid motion through the water, practical interior, well-laid-out deck. There was, however, one point of contention during the sea trials: Who should get to steer next? This boat was a hoot to sail.

In a 9- to 11-knot breeze, the Najad sailed closehauled at just less than 6 knots and tacked through 85 degrees. Cracked off to a beam reach, the speed over the ground on a pocket-size GPS read 7.

A conventional main and an overlapping genoa give the Najad a fairly traditional cruising-boat feel and considerable lift under way. The boat handled the small Chesapeake Bay chop just fine. Control lines led aft to the windshielded cockpit, where judge Stacey Collins noted that the mainsheet could be easily trimmed while standing at the helm. Sail-control lines running back from the mast were led through stainless-steel plates to prevent an inrush of water, should a wave come over the bow.

Belowdecks, the teak interior includes roomy double cabins fore and aft, an L-shaped galley to port at the foot of the companionway, a head and shower to starboard, and a midline table and two settees amidships. The galley is a no-nonsense work space for cooking under way and features double centerline sinks.

Judges deemed the structural quality of the boat quite good, with a Divinycell and epoxy hull and deck, a cast-iron fin with a lead bulb, and stainless-steel keel bolts. Carrying a price tag of $340,000 (delivered to the U.S. East Coast), the Najad was by far the most costly of the small cruisers, but as judge Steve Callahan concluded, “This was a boat that sailed really well. The wind was up a bit, and it was clearly a sailboat.”

Najad yachts - 1990's vintage

Sticky Fingers

Well-known member.

Looking at a very nice Najad 420, mid 1990's vintage. Looks very well cared for, would suit us if the numbers add up. Najad has had a bit of a checkered history; wondered what people might know about the Najad boats from that era? I'd assume any build related issues were ironed out ages ago, any known problems with layup, osmosis, delamination, cored hulls...? Input welcome, thanks.

Talulah

I am not aware of any build issues in any of the Najad models. The mid 90's was a good period for Najad. There are different layouts available and some I prefer better than others. There are some specific things to look for. One is the alloy windshield suffers from corrosion. Stainless steel was an option. Most components are off the shelf, not custom, so easier to replace. I have a Najad 390

Hi Talulah, thanks, that's encouraging!

Budgieboy

Thanks, another endorsement!

We have had a few Najads of that era on yacht delivery, including a Trans Atlantic and a delivery back from Greece. No issues with them at all. They are fantastic yachts! Pete

It's interesting that the smallish island of Orust developed as a centre of high quality boatbuilding. Today, it's Hallberg-Rassy, Malo and Najad primarily; in the past it was also Aphrodite. Boats from the 90s were well constructed and nicely finished, with lots of wood below. I had a 1991 Hallberg-Rassy 352 for over 20 years, and it was an excellent boat.

Najad presents the new Najad 450 CC Next Generation

Najad 450 CC

Najad Yachts presents the first new model since the company separated from Arcona Yachts . The new Najad 450 CC Next Generation is an elegant evolution of the current Najad 450 CC and the first boat is planned to be launched in 2023.

“ The Najad 450CC is a popular size of boat. I am happy that we have managed to incorporate years of ideas and feedback from customers into the yacht with a new level of elegance. Storage is always appreciated for long-distance cruising and with more customers using code zero sails we saw the need to support this in a better way by updating the bow arrangement. The powerful and dynamic signature windows together with the new panoramic window in the stern will also create a new look for the boat and a quite unique master cabin for a 45-foot boat. We were inspired by Najad yachts from the past, where stern portlights were provided on many models, so we decided to do the same but in a more modern way. ” says incoming Najad Yachts CEO, Fredrik Malmqvist.

Najad 450 CC

A few of the upgrades that can be seen on the Najad 450 CC Next Generation are:

  • More natural light in the cabins with the new longer signature coachroof windows, bigger hull portlights and the new panoramic windows in the stern
  • More storage is added with a new large sail locker in the bow
  • The deck and bow have been cleaned with the furlex mounted below the deck and all hatches are now being flush to the deck. The addition of a backward pulpit is also to improve handling for code zero and gennaker sailing
  • A new foldable bathing platform for increased space and comfort at anchor

The first Najad 450 CC Next Generation is due to be launched in 2023. The team at Najad looks forward to discussing the whole Najad range as well as this great new addition at Orust Sailboat Show that takes place 26-28 August in Ellös.

The U-shaped galley is on port, right at the base of the companionway stairs. The galley has plenty of fiddled solid surface counter space, a top-loading refrigeration compartment and a deep double sink. A two-burner gimbaled propane stove rounds things out. Since you can never have too much counter space, Najad added a little flip-up section that extends out from the sink area. There is plenty of storage space, and the cabinets include an ingenious moveable peg system to assure a nice cozy fit for all of your galley ware

Forward, there is a bright and airy V-berth, with a hanging locker and lots more storage in overhead compartments and under the bunk. This space is nicely lit and ventilated with an opening deck hatch.

Since Najad is located in the higher latitudes, the boats are equipped from the factory with propane forced-air heaters. It was in the forties on the day I sailed and the warm cabin was cozy place to warm up after the sail. There is even a heat port in the cockpit well-with the enclosure erected the cockpit can be brought up to T-shirt temperatures.

We raised sails in the stilling basin and sailed out into the lake. The fresh breeze quickly accelerated the boat. The boat's beautiful laminated sails did a great job.

The boat tracked straight and true, and any movement of the tiller was immediately answered. Since we had a picture-perfect day it was tough to assess the sea motion of the boat, but it did nicely handle the steep powerboat wake, powering straight through without pounding. We tacked smartly through the wind, the mass and momentum of the boat helping to keep the speed up through the tack.

The tall carbon fiber rig did the boat proud, even though we didn't need extra sail area in the solid breeze. I just love the feel of a carbon rig. It is tough to explain, but the whole motion of the boat just feels softer and smoother.

Close hauled the boat did a solid 6 to 7 knots in 16 knots apparent, not bad for a heavy cruising boat with a 26-foot, 8-inch waterline. The boat handled the puffs well, putting its shoulder down and accelerating. Cracking off we accelerated and got a magic carpet ride that I could have ridden all the way to the Michigan shoreline. We were a bit shorthanded to try out any kites, but I am sure we could have touched double digits. The boat handled beautifully under all conditions, it was tough to call it a day and turn back to the harbor.

After spending the afternoon sailing the boat, I think Dr. Leland's dream has come true-he has built an offshore capable cruiser with sporty enough performance to still have lots of fun around the buoys. I see both landfalls and silver in his future.

Najad 505 - Sold

Built 2018 / Price: €915000

Najad 505 1 Main

The N505 CC is a modern, comfortable a cruiser offering amazing sailing characteristics. The robust construction and design make her a safe and stable yacht in any conditions, which is of course in line with what you would expect from a modern Najad.

The hull is designed for excellent seaworthiness, both under sail and under engine, which is a contributing factor to high comfort during long-distance sailing. These features, together with the fact that the yacht can be easily handled by a small crew, provide safety, freedom and flexibility, both when sailing on the open seas or sailing close to the coast.

The deck layout offers clean open deck areas with flush mounted skylights and deck hatches. When the Najad 505 was designed, one of the basic tasks was to create a (very) large center cockpit with good space for 6 people and to maintain all the advantages that a center cockpit offers. From the centrally located steering position, the helmsman has all equipment for sail handling and navigation close at hand, which means that the yacht is easily sailed by just one person.

The spacious aft deck, together with the wide integrated bathing platform offers a large area for swimming and water sports.

Najad 505, MY ALBA offers a 3-cabin layout. In the stern there is an owner’s cabin with a centrally located double berth an en suite bathroom. In front of the mast bulkhead there are two guest cabins, one with bunk beds and the other with a V-berth, as well as another bathroom. The saloon has an L-shaped sofa and two comfortable armchairs with folding leg rests. The longitudinal galley as well as the navigation area are located directly by the entrance stairs.

MY ALBA is the last built Najad 505 and was delivered to her current owner in 2018. The yachts very well equipped and was originally specified for sailing on the high seas as well as inshore. The shallow keel (2.1 m) makes it possible to enter shallow waters.

MY ALBA has been used sparingly and is in almost new condition. She has spent all winters in a heated and dehumidified hall and has (due to Corona) only been in the water for 3 summer seasons.

COMMENTS

  1. Najad 390: A pedigree cruiser for serious sailing

One week it must be blue with two loos, the next red with a fin and skeg. It's a battle between heart and head and even more complicated as a couple. Miranda's priorities were a good sailing pedigree and classic look and feel. The Najad 390 will easily deliver 6 knots, and her large rudder is nicely balanced.

  2. Najad 450CC review

Najad 450CC review. ... The steering, while not as free as aft cockpit yachts, gave a nice direct feel and good feedback to the helm. With both furling genoa and mainsail controlled electronically, combined with electric winches, it really was push-button sailing at its best. Using the mainsheet winches for the mast-led lines saves the expense ...

  3. The 'mini superyacht': meet the Najad 395 AC

Price as reviewed: £559,080.00. TAGS: boat Sweden yacht. The Najad 395 AC is the Swedish boatyard's first all-new boat for some time, but not the first to offer both aft cockpit and centre cockpit on the same hull. There have been revamps of models with the changes of the company's ownership, but the eagerly awaited 395 is not only new ...

  4. Najad 331

There is also a bit less shelter under the sprayhood, but the Naiad has a nice touch in the handle for the crew to hold. A group from our club bought an ex-army 331. The boat suffered from corrosion of the rudder stock, which was alloy, unlike my s/s, and needed replacement, but otherwise I think they are sound boats.

  5. Sailboat Review: Najad 570

Najad. At most times, the entrance to Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay would never bring to mind the southwest coast of Sweden or the Baltic Sea. ... 6. BOAT TEST: NAJAD 395CC (WITH GALLERY)

Sam's verdict. The Najad 395cc follows the trend of Hallberg - Rassy of trying to be progressive while also staying true to its core values of quality and seaworthiness. In terms of quality, they definitely succeed both above and below decks. The boat is also easily handled by a couple and sails well.

  7. Najad 450

Najad: the supreme build quality for one, plus the fact she evidently sails well and looks handsome on the water. She's a sensible size for a couple to handle and comfortable down below. If money were no object this would be my choice for serious bluewater cruising - certainly she would be an ideal boat for living aboard for long periods of ...

  8. Najad 332 Sailboat Review

A deep locker underneath holds the trash bin and a neat shelf for cleansers and solvents. It also offers access to the sink through-hull. The forward-facing nav station has a lift-top table with two drawers below. Behind the switch panel, wires are neatly bundled, clearly labeled, and easily accessible. The 332's single head has a large sink ...

  11. Najad 355 Sailboat Review

A boat review from our August 2008 issue.

  12. Najad 355

A fixed windshield and teak deck create a familiar Scandinavian look, but the Najad 355 appears sleeker than many offshore cruisers. "It attracts the younger crowd with a little higher performance, contemporary style and interior, and a racy look," said broker Rob Robinson. CONSTRUCTIONThe hull carries a flat underbody and a fine entry that flares gracefully into a moderately

Visit site. I am not aware of any build issues in any of the Najad models. The mid 90's was a good period for Najad. There are different layouts available and some I prefer better than others. 17. Najad 332

Najad builds all of its boats to withstand the rigors of offshore sailing, and the 332 is no exception. The hull and deck are heavily laid up, with a foam core providing sound and thermal insulation. The boat is built with good old-fashioned tabbed-in structural bulkheads-this construction technique, while far more labor intensive, makes for a ...
