A fantastic Catamaran, fully equipped so you can enjoy a very relaxing and unforgettable day.

Enjoy sailing the different crossings in the crystal clear waters on the south coast of the island of Lanzarote, discovering the wonderful Papagayo Beaches aboard a spectacular Catamaran. When we leave the marina, we will cross the bay of Playa Blanca, where you will see the Hotel Princesa Yaiza, Playa Dorada and the city from a different perspective. Finally, we make a turn south to the island of Los Lobos and Fuerteventura where, if possible, we will turn off the engines and hoist the sails to give you the best papagayo catamaran sailing experience. We have occasionally seen the rare dolphin and flying fish in these waters, so keep your eyes open!

After about an hour, we will turn west and head to the coves of the famous Papagayo beaches. These beaches are destined to be a National Park and once you have experienced its golden sands, crystal clear waters and marine life it is easy to understand why.

Once we are close to Papagayo, we will turn north to be protected by the coves. It is at this point where we will find a place to tie up so you can enjoy some tasty Tapas. With anchor down you can also take a dip in the sea or try some Kyaking & StandUp Paddle , or if that’s not your scene, just relax on the boat soaking up the sun with a cold beer!

When everyone is ready, we raise the anchor and return to Marina Rubicón, along the impressive coast of Las Coloradas.

A real sailing experience in Lanzarote on board a unique catamaran with a professional skipper. Setting sail from the south, the route for the day is determined by the direction and strength of the wind. If the wind is north, we will sail along the south coast. If the wind is easterly, we sail towards Isla de Lobos (Fuertventura) and anchor there. The sailing trip includes a stop for swimming, snorkelling and standing paddle (equipment on board). The motor is only used for entering and leaving the harbour. The sailing catamaran is one of the fastest, most agile and comfortable boats in the Canary Islands. Passengers are invited to help with the manoeuvres or to take over the helm, so they can actively participate in the sailing.

Authentic sailing experience in lanzarote: private catamaran tour starting from playa blanca (south).

The coastline of Lanzarote is a dream setting to make every sailing trip an unforgettable experience - even more so on board a comfortable and modern sailing catamaran such as the one available for your private sailing trip in the south of the island. In Playa Blanca, an experienced skipper and professional sailor will be waiting to introduce you with enthusiasm for sailing in Canary Island waters and show you some of the most beautiful passages of the southern island landscape. Your sailing trip off Lanzarote is completely private. With currently up to 9 persons (12 outside the Covid-19 regulations) you can exclusively charter the catamaran for 2 to 7 hours. Included is not only the exciting real sailing experience but also a break in a quiet bay with the possibility to swim, snorkel and stand up paddle. The equipment is available on board. You can also bring food and drinks on board and enjoy a picnic during the anchor break.

Whoever sails off Lanzarote knows about the strong trade winds that stir up the spray in some places and send a fresh breeze. We will use the motor only twice during this sailing trip: for the leaving of the Marina Playa Blanca and for the return. At sea we will set the sails and use only the power of the wind. And we will also let the route of the private sailing trip be determined by wind direction and wind force. With the north trade wind we will take a closer look at the south coast. If the wind is blowing from the east, we will head for the Isla de Lobos (Fuerteventura), which is only 7 nautical miles away from Lanzarote, where we will also have a break at anchor.

During this sailing trip off Lanzarote you can go out with a real professional and you are invited to actively accompany the manoeuvres. If you wish, you can even take the helm. Like the boat, the catamaran tour is also intended for sailing along. You will sail with a racing catamaran, which is fast and agile in the water, and at the same time offers a lot of comfort for the passengers. Especially on the nets at the bow the water is practically at your feet. Experience a pleasant sailing adventure on the Atlantic Ocean off Lanzarote. A sailing area with beautiful winds and great potential.

• If you cancel less than 3 days in advance, in addition to forfeiting your deposit, you will be charged an additional 40€ for each hour reserved, as this does not cover the loss of reserved places.
• Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance, or failure to show up, will result in the charge of the full remaining amount due to the boat’s high demand and daily bookings.
• No-Show Policy : If you do not cancel in time or you don’t show up, you lose the deposit and are required to pay the full remaining amount.
• Early Termination or Illness : If you fall ill or choose to end the trip early, refunds will not be issued.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca, Spanish for 'white beach', can be found in the most southern corner of Lanzarote. This modern resort boasts a luxurious and tranquil marina lined with yachts and coffee shops, and along its coast runs a delightful 7km promenade. Abundant with a fantastic selection of bars, restaurants, and shops to suit whatever takes your fancy, this charming resort is ideal for a relaxing and sophisticated stay here on the island.

True to its name, Playa Blanca is most renowned for its incredible beaches - the most famous of these being Papagayo. Hidden away in the furthest reaches of town, this collection of seven spectacular natural bays will certainly be a highlight during your stay. The water here is crystal clear and emerald green; each cove is protected from the wind by the impressive cliff edge coast-line that shelters it. Lanzarote's protected marine life means that Papagayo is perfect for snorkelling and swimming, and this stunning clear water stays still throughout the day.

Alternatively, there are three easily accessible beaches in the centre of Playa Blanca. Dorada beach is the most popular, with watersport activities available all day long, and a commercial centre abounding with a fantastic selection of cafes and bars directly behind for all of your drinks and snacks.

Playa Blanca town beach is the quietest of the three. This small yet charming beach is nestled on the seafront, just by the main high street. Here you can relax on the golden sands and enjoy the hustle and bustle of ferry boats coming in and out of the local harbour.

Further along the promenade, you will find Flamingo Beach. This family friendly bay is ideal for swimming, thanks to the wave blockers that have been built in to give the waters a lagoon-like temperament. Once more, you will find a variety of shops and cafes behind for all of your drinks and snacks throughout the day.

Playa Blanca's chic, stylish, and elegant Rubicon Marina is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon here in resort. You can enjoy the modern outdoor pool whilst sipping on a coffee or a homemade cocktail, before strolling the beautiful harbour to take a look at some of the magnificent yachts mored up along the dock. On a Wednesday and Saturday morning, the Rubicon Marina really comes to life with Playa Blanca's local market. Typically Canarian goods and handmade crafts are available here, with street music and local foods to enjoy too.

The main promenade itself is lined with an array of bars and eateries of fantastic quality, so you will never run out of places to indulge whilst you are here. The Papagayo commercial centre is ideal for karaoke and dancing, and Marea bar, close to the lighthouse, is perfect for a refreshing cocktail in the sun.

With spectacular views over to Fuerteventura and Los Lobos, the seafront restaurants are not to be missed. Every member of the family is catered for, with an incredible variety of dishes, and each and every restaurant serves delicious good quality food.

You can shop until you drop along the promenade too. This seafront walkway is lined with duty free shops, high streets stores, and souvenir bazars so you can pick up some gifts during your stay here.

One of the greatest highlights of Playa Blanca is our local resident volcano, the Montana Roja. With unrivalled views, and easily accessible by foot or taxi, this stunning red mountain takes approximately forty minutes to walk to the top of. Once at its peak, you will be able to see El Golfo and the national park, Fuerteventura and Los Lobos, and Playa Blanca in all of its glory. Farallon and Playa Blanca beach

Farallon beach (Playa Farallon) is continuous to Playa Blanca. It is opposite Farallon island, on the mainland. You will love the chill vibe, it offers a good atmosphere to spend time with family and friends, playing volleyball, and enjoying the sun. You can also find a few huts with palm thatch roof along the beach that can be rented for shade. They are useful if you want to drop your beach stuff in between swims or simply enjoy a cold beer from one of the nearby restaurants.  

Santa Clara beach 

It’s a lovely white sandy beach with a calm section of the ocean, perfect for swimming or taking a long leisure walk along the shore. The sand is soft and lighter than on other nearby beaches. It’s only 7km from Farallon beach and there are a few restaurants and accommodations along the coast. It’s possible to rent a rancho (that is a thatched palm roof with a table and benches) or hammock only for a few dollars to lounge around. Although weekends can be busy, Santa Clara is rather quiet during the week and it’s a good place to try local food such as fried fish (usually catch of the day) with crunchy patacones (a Panamanian specialty that you have to try: fried plantain – so much better than the usual french fries).

Fishing is very popular on the Pacific side of Panama. There are big sport fishing tournaments and Panama has fishing grounds for big game fish. If you are up for a relaxed day out at sea, maybe with your family, and you also like to fish: We from Sailing Catamaran Outventure offer fishing trips with our comfortable sailing catamaran. We have four deep sea trolling rods and also some casting rods. Going out with a sailing catamaran is very comfortable and relaxing, and we have the speed to catch fish as well. We propose at least four hours to reach fishing grounds for predator fish, like Mahi Mahi (aka Dorado or Dolphin Fish), Spanish Mackarel (Sierra), Jackfish (Cravalle Jacks are strong fighters), Albacora and Yellowfin Tuna.

If you just like to go fishing in Playa Blanca casting a rod from the beach, there are a couple of river mouths along the beaches of Playa Blanca. Rio Hato and Rio Farallon have plenty of fish and the best is to go there slightly after high tide when the water is leaving the river into the sea and the fish will pass by your lures. You will catch Red and Yellow Snapper (Pargo) and Sea Bass (Robalo) and Blue Runners (Cojinoa). All of which are great fish to eat with tasty white meat.

If you want some speed in the water, there are two providers in Playa Blanca / Rio Hato, where you can rent jet skis: Xtreme Adventures Panama and Luxury Water Sports Panama.

It’s possible to snorkel in the surroundings of Farallon Island. You can find butterflyfish, moray eels, several types of sea coral and if you are lucky, maybe you will spot turtles or even whales during whale season (July – October). Although snorkeling is more popular, there are one or two providers that offer diving in Playa Blanca. 

Escape to El Valle de Anton from Playa Blanca

If you prefer to get away from the heat of the beach to enjoy the cooler climate in the highlands, then El Valle de Anton is a good option for you. Only one hour away from Playa Blanca, you will be able to do hikes, Hotsprings, hikes, waterfalls, a market, cafes, and restaurants.

Food and groceries shopping, pharmacy in Playa Blanca / Rio Hato in Panama

There are plenty of supplies available. About 1 km from the entrance to Playa Blanca, you will find a shopping mall with a variety of shops. There is a large Supermarket “Super99” for groceries, drinks etc. There are also ATMs to get cash in that supermarket. A hardware store “Novey” that has stocks accessories for the beach like masks and snorkels, air mattresses, and towels. Go to Pretelt for a large selection of quality, imported meat cuts and sausages for your beach barbecue. Then there is the “todo a dolar” store for gifts, accessories, and all kinds of other things that your holiday home may be missing. Also you will find a drug store “Arrocha” with a large pharmacy here.

For a good selection of fresh fish and seafood as well as vegetables and fruit, you may want to check out the Vegetable and Fish Market in Rio Hato / Playa Blanca.

How to get to Playa Blanca, Rio Hato, San Carlos?

Playa Blanca beach is located in Rio Hato, in the district of San Carlos, province of Cocle. There are different ways of getting there: by private or public transport or by plane. 

Playa Blanca / Rio Hato by car 

The easiest way to get from Panama City to Playa Blanca is by car. It’s possible to either take your own vehicle or rent one. It’s a 120km drive from Panama City and as in most places in Panama, the time to drive can vary depending on the traffic, especially during peak hours. If you are already in San Carlos or Rio Hato, there are a few car rental options in Buenaventura, Decameron, and Plaza Mareas Mall.  

If you are coming from the city and don’t have your own vehicle, it’s best to arrange private transportation via one of the places where you will be staying at. Transportation is often included when staying in one of the all-inclusive hotels (Playa Blanca Beach Resort, Decameron Resort, Sheraton Bijao, Riu Playa Blanca, JW Marriot Panama Golf and Beach Resort). 

Playa Blanca / Rio Hato by public bus

Although it’s a lot more convenient to travel by car, some people opt to take public transportation to get to Rio Hato. The best way to get a public bus from Panama city to Rio Hato is at the Albrook bus terminal. All the buses going to province of Cocle from Albrook bus terminal pass by Rio Hato: counter B23 (Anton), B24 (Penonome), B25 (El Cope), B26 (Aguadulce). You can talk to the driver so you are dropped off at the Panamerican road, near the hotel where you are staying in Playa Blanca / Rio Hato and from the Panamerican road you can take a taxi to your place of stay.

If you are coming from abroad, it makes sense to fly directly to Rio Hato International airport – Aeropuerto Internacional Scarlett Martinez.  There are direct flights to/from Canada (Toronto, Quebec and Montreal).
