Stealth Designs

Designer alan carwardine, has always focused his designs on fast but comfortable boats..

His current range of sailing catamarans, the STEALTH series, is no exception with stylish lines, large open living areas and easy access to side decks and foredeck.

The undercover cockpit with minimal areas open to direct sunlight cleverly maximizes air flow like no other design of its kind.

With the added advantage of excellent vision from the twin steering stations, it has functional sailing systems set up for short handed sailing making it a pure pleasure to sail.

The STEALTH catamarans are truly refined design for tropical and sub-tropical boating.

The word ‘performance’ is often abused but not with Stealth designs.

Building Techniques and Materials

A lot of thought went into how to build the cats in an efficient way without spending a fortune on moulds and using the existing 15 Thai workers already employed at the yard plus adding another 5.

The concept was not to try and take over the world but to build semi-production, semi custom boats, up to 3 a year, to maintain an enjoyable lifestyle which was the real reason both Alan and Roger were in Phuket in the first place. (it’s always good to keep in mind what life is all about!)

Moulds were made for all curved panels including the large cabin and cockpit roof structure and an all new hull and deck mould. All flat panels are made on the large glass vacuum table.

The techniques used result in light and strong epoxy, foam cored structures with very little fairing needed.

This then made it possible to build the Stealth cats from 11.8 metres to 14 metres using the same moulds; a bit tricky with some of the larger designs but still a reasonably efficient and fast building technique.

Most internationally recognised building products are available in Thailand to build these lightweight cats and what is not, is imported from Australia, the US and China with little fuss.

The complete range of cats, including the powercats, are built using approximately 20% carbon. Asia Catamarans has concentrated on how to utilize this great but still expensive product in the needed areas only instead of the areas where, although still beneficial, it is more often used as a marketing ploy.

The materials and techniques used has enabled Alan and Roger to build very affordable cats that are stiff and strong but with weights way lower than the competition.

The OMR (Offshore Multihull Rule) sailing weights of the following Stealth designs are truly staggering

Stealth 11.8  =  2,850 kgs

Stealth 13     =  3,500 kgs

Stealth 13P   =  3,900kgs

Stealth 14GT = 4,300kgs

STEALTH 36E POWER CATAMARAN - The challenge of lightness

Avatar de Emmanuel van Deth

Article published on 25/09/2020

By Emmanuel van Deth

published in n°173 sept. / oct.

Multihulls World #173

Presented at the last Thailand Yacht Show, this powercat built by Asia Catamarans uses a sailing catamaran platform with very narrow hulls (designed by Alan Carwadine) and advocates stripping everything bare to keep to a very tight weight limit - 2 to 3 tonnes depending on the version.

We take pride in our happy customers

Your team delivered on every mark. You’ve got an amazing broker in Mark Wattrus and I’m confident you will have continued success moving forward together. He was available 24/7 whenever I had questions. We had a great initial visit on the boat and his marketing plan and photos were superb

I bought a yacht that I had never seen. I did this because I trusted my broker Andrew Holland. It was not an easy job for Andrew, as I am an experienced boat builder and owner of previous yachts, but work in West Africa. Imagine how hard it was to communicate what I was looking for. Andrew came up with exactly what I wanted. He dealt with time delays, all my questions at odd hours, and was there for the survey. He reported honestly and professionally. After buying the yacht, I arrived at the boat on a Sunday night, after dark, after travelling from West Africa to the Caribbean, and found it was better than expected. He never pulled punches and made me aware of shortfalls. I expected to spend my one month leave working on the boat, but actually spent less than one week, and was able to spend 3 weeks sailing – wonderful bonus.

Thank you Andrew for putting up with all my questions, all my worries and all my crazy out of the time zone concerns – you were totally professional, but also I know that if and when we meet up, it will be like a friend finally meeting. You are always welcome on Aseka.

— Beverly Cory

Outstanding company with professional subject matter experts. If I were to buy or sell cruising sailboat, particularly a catamaran, Andrew would be my go to broker.

I have been sailing since I was a child and attended Massachusetts Maritime Academy. But when my wife and I began the process of purchasing an ocean cruising/racing catamaran, I realized that this is a world unto itself. Obviously, we needed to find someone knowledgeable to help us make an informed decision. More importantly, we needed someone honest and willing to put our interests before his or her own. I was lucky to work with Phil Berman at The Multihull Company. He repeatedly shunned the fast buck, choosing instead to work the long road to connect us with the “perfect boat”. I would be glad to recommend Phil and his company to anyone planning to purchase or sell a performance sailing machine.

— Eric Boutiette

Andrew Hodgdon was our broker when we bought our 2018 Lagoon 450F in Antigua in April 2922. He provided great service and was very attentive to our needs. We would highly recommend Andrew and the Multihull Company.

Stealth Cam Trail Camera Reviews: Buying Guide (2023)

Stealth Cam Trail Camera Reviews

In this article I focus on Stealth Cam trail camera reviews and in particular the latest trail camera models available.

GSM Outdoors who make the Stealth Cam range of trail cameras have been around for 15 years and have a long reputation for designing great trail cams.

They have always had a slightly different approach to how a trail camera should be set up and operate compared to other popular trail cam brands.

This is no bad thing as some of their innovations in trail camera development have really helped in progressing the trail cam world as a whole.

2020 has been a busy year for Stealth Cam , bringing a range of new game cameras and some important updates to some of the older models in the range.

If you decide on Stealth Cam [ 1 ] as your next brand of trail camera then hopefully this guide will help you.

Stealth Cam G42NG Trail Camera – Review (2023)

Stealth Cam G45NGX

Stealth Cam G45NGX 22MP HD1080 Game Camera- 45 No Glo Emitters, Low Light Sensitivity, Blur Reduction, Sub 1 Second Trigger, Multi Zone Detection

The G45NGX is based in the “mid range” bracket of the Stealth Cam range. It has a higher overall spec than the previous camera in this review to match the additional price point.

This trail cam comes packed with all the latest innovations. Advanced low light sensitivity, blur reduction technology and of course the tried and trusted TRIAD 3 in 1 system for quick and easy setup.

I’ve had my Stealth Cam G42NG for some time and it’s still my go to trail cam if I need to set up quickly. using the Triad 3 in 1 system allows me to do that. It’s a great way to set up a trail camera, and is ideal for folk that don’t want to get bogged down with too many setting changes.

The camera specification is 22 MP, along with 45 No Glow IR emitters for night time illumination. These are impressive figures for a camera under 200 bucks.

Batteries and external power

Power is provided by 8 x AA batteries, plus there is a 12-Volt external power jack. Battery life is reported to be better than average for a trail cam which is under fairly regular use. Expect to see around 6 months operation from one set of AA batteries.

Specification and performance

Video is recorded at full 1080p HD . The night time pictures due to the powerful IR emitters are excellent quality.

The detection circuit is very good for this level of trail camera. Detection range is around 70 feet and the trigger speed is sub 0.5 seconds.

  • 22 Megapixel sensor
  • Sub 0.5 Second Trigger Speed
  • 70 FT Detection Range
  • 1080P HD Video
  • Time lapse mode
  • 45 NO GLO IR Emitters
  • Burst Mode 1-3 images per trigger
  • 5-120 sec recovery
  • Time / Date / Moon Phase / Name Stamp
  • Burst Mode 1-9 images per trigger
  • 8 x AA  batteries

Solid trigger speed

Great battery life

Good detection range

Slightly low grade plastic casing

The G45NGX performs well for a mid range trail camera. The stand out feature is the quality of the night time pictures.

It comes in a very durable, solid case design along with a very good battery operating life.

If your looking for a mid range trail camera and don’t want to spend over $200 then this is a great choice.

I’d say the TRIAD quick set up is aimed at people who don’t want to spend ages setting the camera up. So in this instance, you just select one of the 3 options via the physical switch and leave it to capture images. It’s that simple.

  • HIGH DEFINITION RESOLUTION- 22 Megapixel images and 1080 HD Video with Audio Recordings 5-180 seconds in Length
  • ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY- 42 No Glow Emitters Will Not Spook Game as it gives you 100 FT Flash Range. Retina Low Light Sensitivity Provide Excellent Night Images. Blur Reduction, Smart Illumination, GEO Tag
  • PROGRAMMABLE- Quick Set Pre-Programmed Options or Manually Adjust Recovery Time Out, Active Time Setting, Video Length, Security Modes, Burst Mode, Password Protection
  • Test Mode and Manual Shot Capabilities
  • Operates on 8 AA Batteries (not included)- External Power Jack for 12v Battery Box

Stealth Cam PX Pro 36NGK

Stealth Cam PX Pro 36Ng STC-PXP36NGK Trail Cam 20 Megapixel HD Videa

The PX Pro is ideal for those who don’t want to spend too long with settings in the trail camera.

Stealth Cam have added the “Quick Set” programme settings to this trail camera. There’s 6 settings to choose from. $ photo settings and 2 video settings.

Some may think that this is fairly limited but in practice the 6 settings do cover a lot of instances.

Detection Range

The detection circuit is fairly decent for a trail camera at this price point but it’s not ground breaking. The camera has a detection range up to 80 feet and trigger speed of 0.6 seconds. Which is a little disappointing in my opinion.

Picture Quality

Although this camera is advertised with a 20 megapixel image sensor, the pictures are pretty average. The night pictures are not the best, They lack sharpness.

Specification

  • 2o Megapixel sensor
  • 0.6 Second Trigger Speed
  • 80 FT Detection Range
  • 720P HD Video
  • 36 NO GLO IR Emitters

Easy set up

Low price point

Average image quality

It has to be said the PX Pro 36NG is not the greatest trail camera out there.

I’d suggest taking a look at the 45NGX in Stealth Cams range instead. In my view this is one trail camera to avoid unless you’re an avid fan of Stealth Cam.

  • Hunting game & trail cameras
  • Versatile top of the line
  • Another quality product

Cognition emerges from stealth to launch AI software engineer Devin

Join leaders in Boston on March 27 for an exclusive night of networking, insights, and conversation. Request an invite here.

Today, Cognition , a recently formed AI startup backed by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund and tech industry leaders including former Twitter executive Elad Gil and Doordash co-founder Tony Xu, announced a fully autonomous AI software engineer called “Devin”.

While there are multiple coding assistants out there, including the famous Github Copilot , Devin is said to stand out from the crowd with its ability to handle entire development projects end-to-end, right from writing the code and fixing the bugs associated with it to final execution. This is the first offering of this kind and even capable of handling projects on Upwork, the startup has demonstrated.

The announcement of Devin marks a significant shift in the AI-assisted development space, giving engineers a full-fledged AI worker for their projects, rather than a copilot that could merely write barebones code or suggest snippets.

However, as of now, Devin remains non-public, with the company opening access only to a select few customers, including Bloomberg journalist Ashlee Vance, who wrote about his experience using it here .

What exactly can Devin do?

In a blog post today on Cognition’s website , Scott Wu, the founder and CEO of Cognition and an award-winning sports coder, explained Devin can access common developer tools, including its own shell, code editor and browser, within a sandboxed compute environment to plan and execute complex engineering tasks requiring thousands of decisions.

The human user simply types a natural language prompt into Devin’s chatbot style interface, and the AI software engineer takes it from there, developing a detailed, step-by-step plan to tackle the problem. It then begins the project using its developer tools, just like how a human would use them, writing its own code, fixing issues, testing and reporting on its progress in real-time, allowing the user to keep an eye on everything as it works.

If something doesn’t look right to the human observer, the user can also jump into the chat interface and give the AI a command to fix it. This, Cognition says, enables engineering teams to delegate some of their projects to the AI and focus on more creative tasks that require human intelligence.

In this way, Devin offers a new paradigm that may be a glimpse of the way all software development — and computer work generally — may be done in the near-future: by AI workers overseen by human supervisors/users.

Capable of handling a wide range of dev tasks

According to demos shared by Wu, Devin is capable of handling a range of tasks in its current form. This includes common engineering projects like deploying and improving apps/websites end-to-end and finding and fixing bugs in codebases to more complex things like setting up fine-tuning for a large language model using the link to a research repository on GitHub or learning how to use unfamiliar technologies.

In one case, it learned from a blog post how to run the code to produce images with concealed messages. Meanwhile, in another, it handled an Upwork project to run a computer vision model by writing and debugging the code for it.

In the SWE-bench test, which challenges AI assistants with GitHub issues from real-world open-source projects, the AI software engineer was able to correctly resolve 13.86% of the cases end-to-end – without any assistance from humans. In comparison, Claude 2 could resolve just 4.80% while SWE-Llama-13b and GPT-4 could handle 3.97% and 1.74% of the issues, respectively. All these models even required assistance, where they were told which file had to be fixed.

Core technology remains undescribed

AI in software development is no new feat. There have been tools in this space for quite some time, right from the popular GitHub Copilot and StarCoder to Replit , which has a few small AI coding models on Hugging Face, and Codeium , which recently nabbed $65 million series B funding at a valuation of $500 million.

However, most of these offerings have largely focused on using AI to assist with coding. They can generate barebones code from text prompts, summarize it with relevant IDE context or retrieve snippets, accelerating the workflow of the team. With Devin, Cognition AI appears to be going a step (or multiple steps) further, giving a full-fledged AI worker to handle entire projects.

While the tool remains to be tested, its ability to handle multiple steps – while staying on track – to complete a software engineering project is the biggest unique selling point. Cognition has not shared how exactly it has achieved this feat and whether it is using its own proprietary model or that from a third party, but it does note that the work is the result of its “advances in long-term reasoning and planning.”

Currently, the company is in the process of ramping up capacity and offering early access to Devin only to select users. It says interested parties looking to augment their engineering work can reach out via email to gain access. Broader access is expected to open up at a later stage.

Cognition also notes on its website that coding is “just the beginning” which seems to indicate it may tap its reasoning advances to launch similar AI agents/workers for other disciplines as well. The company has received $21 million in funding so far.

  1. Stealth 540

Actually, though, the most surprising aspect of testing the Stealth was what I didn't feel: the normally jarring consequences of wake jumping at anything close to that speed. Power catamarans in general do well nosing into short, steep seas, but the Hydrofoil Supported Catamaran (HYSUCAT) foil system incorporated into this hull raises that quality to another level.
