The Yacht-Master’s bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated bezel is made entirely from precious metals or fitted with a Cerachrom insert in high-tech ceramic. The raised polished numerals and graduations stand out clearly against a matt, sand-blasted background.

This functional bezel – which allows the wearer to calculate, for example, the sailing time between two buoys – is also a key component in the model’s distinctive visual identity.

Like all Rolex Professional watches, the Yacht-Master 40 offers exceptional legibility in all circumstances, and especially in the dark, thanks to its Chromalight display.

The broad hands and hour markers in simple shapes – triangles, circles, rectangles – are filled with a luminescent material emitting a long-lasting glow.

This ingenious system allows the wearer to increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm, providing additional comfort in any circumstance.

Each week, we present a selection of our favorite watches from the pre-owned side of our collection. We photograph each one so that you get a closer look at what makes these watches so special. This week, we have a METAS Tudor Black Bay Burgundy, a Serti Rolex Submariner, a Cartier Tortue in rose gold, a blue-dial Patek QP ref. 5140 in platinum, and a hesalite Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch.

The Tudor Black Bay has carved out a space all its own over the past decade – establishing itself firmly as one of the best entry points into watch collecting. Being in the Rolex orbit only heightens the value proposition that a Black Bay brings to the table in any size format, but the original was the Black Bay 41, a watch that pulls from the heritage of vintage Tudor Submariner watches in a size and form factor fit for the modern day.

Last year, at Watches & Wonders, Tudor took its tried and true Black Bay and gave it a major upgrade, turning the movement from its standard chronometer-certified stance and elevating it into METAS, master chronometer, territory. And along the way, the brand refined the case, and bezel (it's now teethier like the Rolex Submariner) and fitted it to the new five-link, "don't call it a Jubilee" bracelet. The Black Bay has matured significantly, and we love it.

Speaking of the Tudor Black Bay, we now turn our attention to the older sibling and its prototypical dive watch: The Rolex Submariner. What began as a tools watch for divers from Rolex has evolved over the years. We get it in steel, in two-tone, and occasionally we see unique examples such as the one we present today: A Submariner in two-tone with a silvery dial set with diamonds – hence the name.

This is how you level up a Sub. The contrast of the blue bezel against the yellow gold, which is then paired with the diamond markers, makes for a true marriage of watchmaking and jewelry. It also just goes to show you how versatile the Submariner is. It's like a chameleon, able to take on many forms – and this form is simply stunning to behold.

Sticking with brands that understand the crossover of horology and jewels, we turn to Cartier. While it is most definitely known for its Santos and Tank lines, only looking in that direction would mean missing one of the brand's archetypal watches, which brings us to one of our favorite iterations of Cartier watchmaking and watch design: The Tortue. You may or may not know this, but the Tortue was one of the brand's earliest designs, so its shape has equal significance to our beloved Tank.

Today, we present a beautiful execution of the Tortue in rose gold with a stunningly integrated date complication at the top of the dial. This 38mm stunner is reminiscent of the historical Tortue but is also very much in line with the brand's more modern design codes. Sometimes, in watches, it's good to zag while everyone else zigs – to look away from the obvious choices and toward something truly special and collectible. The Tortue represents that idea fully.

We are fresh off the month of February, which is the month we become aware of whether or not the current year… is a leap year. Given that 2024 is, in fact, such a year, we made sure to celebrate one of our favorite complications : The perpetual calendar. And it seems that celebration continues as we present this Patek Philippe 5140P Perpetual Calendar – a flawless example of the best of Patek and the best of QPs.

This watch features a beautiful blue dial replete with the perpetual calendar complication on full display. What makes this such a special watch is the fact that it's from the 2000s and gives an almost unfathomably perfect 37mm case. Patek is all about refinement, and this 5140P (platinum!), is about as refined as they come.

Last but not least, we have one of the best watches money can buy, well, ever. The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch is about as iconic as it gets. It's the kind of watch you can buy and basically never need another watch for the rest of your life. Of course, we watch lovers know that's about the same as trying to eat one Lay's chip. But we digress. Today, we are featuring the current generation of Speedy Pro models, updated in 2021.

That year, we saw Omega take the Speedmaster we love and upgrade the movement to the METAS-certified 3861 caliber complete with hacking seconds. We saw refinements to the dial via the step motif and minor tweaks to the markers and text. The case was refined as well, but the most obvious upgrade was in the bracelet which took a throwback approach and delivered an amazingly tapered execution that is just so great on-wrist. Here we have the hesalite crystal version, which means you get the truest form of Moonwatch with the closed engraved caseback.  There's not much more that needs to be said about the Speedy. It's one fantastic unit of watch.

Moscow, Russia – Nevado Roses, the producer of premium cut roses, today announced that the company was awarded the Gold Medal for three of its exclusive roses, being one of them its new rose variety “Gigi” at the International Flower Exhibition in Moscow – Flowers 2010.

“The Gigi rose is a smoky dark pink with a luxurious shape”, says John Nevado, the proud grower of this new variety. “We launched it this year to honor my wife, whose nick-name is Gigi”, fills in his father, Mr Roberto Nevado.

The rose is a flower for all occasions, a true-blood pink with a hint of purple to adorn any home or festive setting. It goes well with present trends in interior decoration, looking for true, solid colours.

Additionally the rose has a full, vibrant and very big foliage giving it the proper framing.

Nevado Roses grows the Gigi on an worldwide exlusive basis and the rose is scheduled to be released to other growers in the foreseeable future.

Nevado Roses is a family run rose plantation in Ecuador, SouthAmerica. The company grows the worlds most exclusive roses.

The roses are produced under certified environmentally friendly standards, and Nevado Roses has been granted the Rainforest Alliance, the Fair Trade, and the Flower Label program seals of approval. Besides there is an area of Organic USDA and European Ecological certified roses for edible purposes. The fact that the roses are environmentally friendly means they are produced without or with extreme caution when it comes to chemical pesticides or fertilizers, but rather using all-natural alternatives. These alternatives include spraying the roses with garlic-water or chamomile emulsions. The Company also uses predatory insects that kill off the bad insects, and uses plants such as tobacco to ward off certain flies. “We use nature to combat pests”, says John Nevado the Company president. He continues; “These programs are all part of Nevado Roses´s all-natural disease control program”.
