Tour the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8 Yacht, Mustique (VIDEO)

Tumi Mhlongo and Luka Brunton share an exclusive look around the luxurious yacht.

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8 premiered on September 25. Now that the new season has set sail, chief stew  Tumi Mhlongo and Bosun  Luka Brunton are prepared to welcome guests — and Bravo viewers — for a look around the glamorous vessel. In the clip above, the cast members offer a complete tour of the boat's interior and exterior.

How to Watch

Watch Below Deck Mediterranean  on Peacock  and the Bravo app .

Season 8 takes place aboard the 180-foot M/Y Mustique . According to a press release for the show, the new vessel "challenges" Captain Sandy Yawn 's deck crew as they "attempt to navigate the busy industrial port with utmost precision." While the crew focuses on precision, the charter guests can focus on fun.

As you can see in the clip above, the superyacht has everything from inflatable slides to a gorgeous dining room with a massive chandelier overhead. "The decor of the boat is beautiful. It's classic," Tumi says. "It kind of reminds me of Harry Potter ."

In addition to a rarely-used main salon filled with silky sofas, a spacious galley, and, of course, the chandelier-laden dining room, the interior holds plush guest cabins. In the tour above, Tumi lets viewers peek inside the primary cabin and the more spacious V.I.P. cabin.

"It's my favorite cabin, personally," Tumi says of the latter, standing in the swanky space. It's outfitted with gleaming wood bookcases, a cozy bed with a tufted headboard, and two windows with decorative crystals. After showing off the "very, very big laundry room," Tumi heads to the bridge deck aft, where there's a spacious dining table and cushy guest seating. Luka takes the tour from there.

Luka's tour of the exterior starts with the toys. "We've got a waterslide which goes over the side [of the bridge deck aft]," he says before heading up to the sun deck. The upper-level space has a storage area filled with water toys, including standup paddleboards, kayaks, and jet skis. "The guests love these," Luka says of the latter.

Why These Below Deck Med Season 8 Cast Members Will Look Familiar to Fans

After showing the sun deck bar, jacuzzi, and gym, Luka heads into the bridge for a chat with his newly engaged boss. "What I really like about this bridge [is] it actually has a steering wheel," Sandy says. "I like a steering wheel because it feels like you're driving."

Sandy adds that the Mustique has stabilizers that prevent it from swaying. "We don't have drinks flying everywhere," she assures.

Even without the flying beverages, the new season is bound to get hectic. According to the press release, "From outrageous guests to after-hours antics, the boat gets rocked throughout each charter as the crew navigates complicated dynamics and unexpected rifts. In a franchise first, unprecedented staffing changes dominate the season, which tests each department as they struggle to find their sea legs through unforeseen turnover."

Below Deck Mediterranean season 8 plot

Here's what you need to know about Below Deck Mediterranean season 8 with the official synopsis from Bravo:

"Set amidst the mesmerizing Italian Riviera and the historic façade of Genoa, Italy, it's all hands on deck this season for Capt. Sandy and her team. From outrageous guests to after-hours antics, the boat gets rocked throughout each charter as the crew navigates complicated dynamics and unexpected rifts. In a franchise first, unprecedented staffing changes dominate the season, which tests each department as they struggle to find their sea legs through unforeseen turnover.

"Sandy levels up this season with the 180-foot M/Y Mustique, which challenges her deck crew as they attempt to navigate the busy industrial port with utmost precision. Before they even leave the dock, visa issues tie up two crew members while a department head mismanages important paperwork. Sandy leans on temporary help for the first charter and an unexpected shake-up results in a change of hierarchy. On deck, the crew is overwhelmed by their workload on the oversized vessel as the interior deals with a clash of personalities. Chef Jack wows the guests with his impressive take on local Italian fare, but things start to sour when communication goes south.

"Between 'friends with benefits' and open relationships, there’s no shortage of boat-mances and boat break-ups. When disagreements impact productivity and former friendships start to implode, Sandy is faced with a wave of difficult decisions."

Below Deck Med Bosun Ruan Irving Breaks Silence After Fake Documents Scandal

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Ruan Irving made quite the entrance on Below Deck Mediterranean’s premiere episode of Season 8. He hardly got a foot in the door before his documents were questioned. Additionally, his Yacht Masters certification was flagged as a forgery. Captain Sandy Yawn had to follow maritime law and leave the shortest reigning bosun in Below Deck history at the docks.

Accordingly, Ruan took to social media to share his side of the story. Naturally, there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for everything.

Ruan thinks he was “scammed”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ruan Irving (@ru_dawggg)

The South African native started by thanking “everyone involved and that made it happen!”

Ruan then addressed suggestions that he orchestrated a situation that would make a quit exit off the yacht believable.

The Explanation

“For the peeps saying I faked a friends death just to get off the show cos of the certificate problem you have some serious issues. You don’t play with death,” he wrote.

Then came the long-winded explanation as to why Ruan was not carrying his originals.

“All my original hard copies were in South Africa,” he explained. “I never travel with them that’s why I get certified copies made! Now the show had copies of certified copies. Because I sent them copies as requested (nobody ever asked for the originals till MCA came on board). After the show, I flew to Cape Town and I got my certificates and sent the show a video with all originals.”

He then addressed the seemingly forged Yacht Masters certification. During the episode, Captain Sandy grew highly suspicious when she scanned Ruan’s papers and another person’s face came up.

“Now the yacht master that was the main issue, it was through a guy that worked at the school. I had done my yacht masters 5 years or so ago with who I contacted and asked to extend my expiry date because of the show etc! I paid a fee and I got sent a back and front copy of the yacht masters with new expiry date. The show started. And then MCA discovered if you scan the barcode it comes up with someone else’s name and picture. Was I scammed? Most probably!!” Ruan stated.

“It’s been a year since the show and all my certificates have been updated and originals are always on me. Lesson learned,” he finished his post.

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8: Everything We Know So Far

Below Deck Med's Captain Sandy returns in Season 8. (Photo: Peacock)

For Below Deck fans, summer means one thing: New episodes of Below Deck Mediterranean . As befits its sweltering setting, Below Deck Med typically debuts in the warm-weather months, but for the first time in seven years, Bravo is switching up the release schedule and delaying the Season 8 premiere.

While the delay is surprising, as Bravo's Below Deck calendar has been relatively consistent for years, it may come as a welcome change for viewers. Seasons 6 and 7 of Med were dreary affairs, and with so few crew members carrying over from one year to the next — save for Courtney Veale and Mzi "Zee" Dempers, who did their best to salvage each season — they quickly faded from memory. Fans are also experiencing Captain Sandy fatigue after she filled in for Captain Lee Rosbach on Below Deck Season 10, an experience she recently told Primetimer was "challenging" given the myriad issues with the crew. Sandy ultimately fired two people in just nine episodes, drawing criticism from Captain Lee and viewers alike.

Love her or hate her, Captain Sandy will be back in the bridge for Season 8. Both the longtime captain, who's been with the show since 2017, and Bravo have been tight-lipped about the upcoming season, but we've been able to suss out a few important details. Here's everything we know about the new season of Below Deck Mediterranean .

What happened on Below Deck Med Season 7?

Oddly enough, last season of Below Deck Mediterranean was defined by drama that happened before the cameras even started rolling. Before stepping aboard Motor Yacht Home, chief steward Natasha Webb and chef Dave White worked together on a different boat, where they began a romantic relationship. Natasha attempted to keep their history a secret for the first few episodes of the season, as she had a boyfriend at the time and didn't want to be "judged" by viewers or her fellow crew members, but Dave clearly wanted something more, and on nights off, he would drunkenly lash out at her. They soon fell into a toxic cycle of making up and tearing each other down, all while Natasha attempted to salvage her relationship with her boyfriend back at home.

As Natasha spiraled, she leaned on second steward Kyle Viljoen for support, but their friendship created a rift within the interior department. Natalya Scudder, another second stew, believed Natasha was too lenient with Kyle and became frustrated that she was left to languish in the laundry and clean up after her teammates. Still, Natalya's season wasn't all workplace drama: She began hooking up with bosun Storm Smith, but they struggled to get on the same page about their relationship, as Natalya wanted to keep things fun, and Storm was interested in pursuing something more serious.

While the interior struggled, the deck team triumphed under Storm's leadership. (He was promoted after Captain Sandy fired original bosun Raygan Tyler.) A minor disagreement emerged as Courtney and Mzi vied for the role of lead deckhand, but when Storm gave Courtney the job, Mzi graciously accepted defeat, and the two continued on as friends.

Overall, Below Deck Med Season 7 was unmemorable, and the part that does stand out — the Natasha-Dave debacle — is probably best forgotten altogether.

Who's in the new Below Deck Med cast?

Bravo officially renewed Below Deck Med at BravoCon in October 2022, but it's taken nearly 11 months for details to emerge about the Season 8 cast. On September 1, Bravo released the official trailer for the new season and revealed the familiar faces who will be joining Captain Sandy aboard M/Y Mustique. Tumi Mhlongo, who appeared on Below Deck Down Under Season 1, is stepping into the chief stewardess role, while Med Season 7 stews Kyle Viljoen and Natalya Scudder will work under her in the interior. Deckhand Luka Brunton, who joined the Down Under cast this week after Adam Kodra was fired, is also sticking with the franchise as it sets sail in the Italian Riviera.

Complementing the returning personalities are new chef Jack Luby, bosun Ruan Irving, deckhands Haleigh Gorman and Lara Du Preez, and stew Jessika Asai. If the trailer is any indication, these newbies are about to make quite a first impression:

More drama than an Italian opera 🎭 #BelowDeckMed drops anchor with an all-new season on September 25! pic.twitter.com/PEwe6eeIDV — Bravo (@BravoTV) September 1, 2023

When Primetimer spoke with Sandy in June, she previewed what to expect from Season 8. "Like any of the franchises of Below Deck , you get the drama, you're in a small area, you've got all these different personalities, different nationalities, different experiences," she said. "You're gonna have a travel show that highlights the beautiful yachts, and then you have the personality conflicts, and then you have the love affairs and the breakups, the meltdowns. You know, the typical Below Deck experience."

Has Below Deck Med Season 8 already filmed?

Eagle-eyed fans spotted Kyle and Tumi wearing the show's signature red polos in Italy last September , so it's safe to assume that Below Deck Med Season 8 filmed in Fall 2022.

When does Below Deck Med Season 8 premiere?

Below Deck Mediterranean returns Monday, September 25 at 9:00 PM ET. The popular spin-off will replace Down Under Season 2 in Bravo's schedule, which means fans won't have to go a single week without some yachtie action.

What's happening elsewhere in the Below Deck franchise?

Below Deck is one of Bravo's most popular shows, but the franchise is heading into uncharted waters as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. The flagship show has parted ways with Captain Lee, who claims executives want to "move in a new direction" after a decade spent at the helm. Lee will be replaced by Below Deck Adventure 's Captain Kerry Titheradge, but the crossover means the Norway-set series, which is still waiting for a renewal after concluding its first season in January, faces an uncertain future.

At least the more relaxed iterations of Below Deck are thriving. Down Under kicked off its second season on July 17, and returning stars Captain Jason Chambers and chief stew Aesha Scott (who first appeared on Med ) have already faced a host of issues aboard their aging vessel, Northern Sun. In early August, production intervened when bosun Luke Jones climbed into bed naked with stew Margot Sisson, who was sleeping at the time; the camera crew later did the same with stew Laura Bileskalne, who repeatedly made unwanted sexual advances toward Adam Kodra. Luke and Laura were both swiftly fired, and Captain Jason hired Med alum João Franco to lead the deck team for the rest of the season.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht 's recently concluded fourth season also marked a high point for both the show and the franchise as a whole. The love triangle between chief stew Daisy Kelliher, first officer Gary King, and chief engineer Colin MacRae — all of whom have been on the show since Season 2 — delivered weeks worth of can't-miss drama, while Captain Glenn Shephard's eccentricities and forgiving nature propelled him to the top of the captain rankings.

Between Down Under and Sailing Yacht , there's plenty of worthwhile Below Deck action for fans to catch up on while they await the next season of Below Deck Mediterranean . All 24 seasons of the franchise's various shows (16 of them Captain Sandy-free) are available to stream on Peacock.

Below Deck Mediterranean Recap: Loose Lips Sink Ships

Below deck mediterranean.

below deck med yacht season 8

Below Deck  has seen some truly awful characters over the years, but I’m convinced that Kyle might be in the top three worst of all time.  Picking up right where we left off , Jessika is baffled by Kyle’s behavior after his meltdown directed at her. Kyle continues bitching to Tumi about how he’s hurt by what Jess said (which wasn’t harmful at all, by the way) since he’s done nothing but supposedly try to help her. The devil works hard, but Kyle works harder — not at his actual job, but at being a drama queen who manipulates and bullies his co-workers.

Meanwhile, in the galley, two guests check in on Jack and get excited when he shares his dinner plans. This attention makes Jack feel like it’s Beatlemania and he’s the fifth Beatle. Whatever helps him sleep at night. Max is equally mesmerized by the women and even lets them explore the crew area and his cabin, where they discover a Taoist sex book he’s reading. Max isn’t sure if he’s allowed to do this, but he doesn’t really care because “C’est la vie!”

While the guests jetski, Jess attempts to talk to Kyle, who immediately barks at her to “get out of my face.” Still, she tries to explain how she didn’t have bad intentions, but Kyle cuts her off to accuse her of being “malicious as hell.” He adds that his heart is “sore” because he thought she was there for him since the beginning. Sir, it’s not that serious. You’re a grown man, so act like it for once in your life. Jess knows continuing this conversation is pointless, so she walks away and breaks down while Tumi comforts her on deck. I can’t help but feel for the girl.

Tumi tries temporarily fixing the problem by having Jessika work service with her while Kyle and Nat take care of housekeeping. However, I’m side-eyeing her for not reprimanding Kyle for his nasty behavior because she feels the need to approach him like a toddler who’s “30 going on 3.” The issues persist since Kyle has the distinct ability to never shut the fuck up and therefore complains nonstop about how Jess is acting, implying later in the day that she’s someone who thinks “they deserve the world without even first gaining their experience.” Does he know that Jess was hired because of her second stew experience?

Checking in with the fairly unproblematic deckies: It seems like Luka’s positive reinforcement of Max is working because everyone seems to tolerate and like him much more now. Lara even says he’s growing on her because he’s a “good person with a good heart” who also reads. I’m also impressed that Max got his shit together quickly, but maybe it’s because he doesn’t want to look like a fool in front of the ladies.

Before dinner, Luka and Max are tasked with wearing waistcoats while shirtless for the requested booze cruise. During the tender ride, Max gets carried away and flirts with and puts his arm around one guest, Leni. At the same time, Captain Sandy finally returns from the hospital and informs us that she’ll have to wear a brace for five weeks since her wrist is fractured but that it won’t affect her ability to operate the boat. I love that she’s still blissfully unaware that her interior is imploding.

Crossing the line seems to be a trend in this charter, as Jack also disobeys Sandy’s direct orders. He joins the group for dessert, as requested by the primary, and they beg him to take a shot with them. Tumi says it isn’t allowed and refuses to bring him a drink, but Jack gives into the temptation and happily downs one guest’s shot in front of Tumi, admitting to the producer that he knows he fucked up. Afterward, Tumi tells Jack that he needs to fess up to Sandy before she finds out some other way, and she’s right. Sandy hates people who break the rules, but she hates people who aren’t honest even more. He ultimately makes the right decision the next day, and Sandy easily forgives him (after joking that he should pack his shit up) because she appreciates his integrity.

While the casino night party is in session, Kyle tells Tumi he doesn’t feel well and then lays down on the salon floor. She and Lara tend to him while he has an anxiety attack and cries about how he’s tired of all the drama, like Natalya’s relationship, until Nat comes upstairs to help. In a confessional, Kyle shares that he feels the same way he did when he had depression while working on his first yacht four years ago. Once he feels better, Kyle returns to his normal self and sends the interior group chat a text thanking Tumi and Nat for their help. The message also reads, “Breaking point has been reached officially. I can no longer obtain any personal life matters from anyone.” All of this over the pettiest stuff … I can’t with people who spend their days talking shit about others but can’t handle it when the roles are reversed.

The next morning, the text remains the topic of conversation when Natalya points out to Jess that it was a “dig” at her and that he doesn’t have a right to say out-of-pocket stuff about Jess. Jess agrees that it’s bullying and brings it to Tumi’s attention, but Tumi shuts it down as having only been about his panic attack, which Jess wasn’t aware of. Tumi then talks to Kyle, and they come to the conclusion that Natalya is the root of the problem. “She loves to poke her nose in other people’s business and think that she knows better,” Kyle tells us. It’s funny to hear this coming from Kyle because he’s describing himself, too. The call is coming from inside the house!

Once the guests depart, Kyle finally becomes stable enough to hear Jess out. She tells him she never meant to say anything maliciously and that after seeing his reaction, she’s learned to think before speaking. Girl, you’re not the problem; it’s just that Kyle misinterprets every little thing. Kyle then says he would’ve expected Nat to run her mouth but that he felt betrayed by Jess since he’s the only person who supports her. They eventually make up and agree that Natalya is a shit-stirrer, which means Nat is back to being public enemy number one. I literally rolled my eyes watching her fall for Kyle’s BS again. My takeaway is that Jess is easily manipulated, and she should know better by now.

At the crew night out, Kyle, Jess, and Tumi gush about how glad they are to have moved past the drama. Jess even points out that she loves Kyle’s “authenticity,” which, LOL. Natalya relatably watches this like, “What the fuck is happening?” In a confessional, she remarks that the new trio of besties are the least genuine people she’s ever met. Nat is over it and briefly returns to the boat, where she vents to her boyfriend about how homesick she is and how she hates her team before returning to hang out with them at the bar.

There, the crew invites the charter guests to join them, and soon enough, they’re all getting trashed. Max is reunited with his crush, Leni, and they make out while he tells her they’re Romeo & Juliet 2.0. How romantic! Remember when Kyle fell head over heels in love with a charter guest last season? Meanwhile, Lara makes it her mission to make out with as many girls as possible, and she successfully does so by kissing ten. Color me impressed. Also, on the romance front, Luka has shifted his attention from Nat to Jess, telling her in a bathroom stall that he isn’t interested in Nat anymore since she has “too much baggage” while Tumi listens in on the convo. They make their way back to the bar and kiss in front of everyone. I think I just cheered out loud. This is a boatmance I can fully get on board with, even if it means having to witness another Natalya outburst.

Back on the boat, shit goes down once again after Max starts talking about how an S for straight should be included in LGBT. Kyle tells him that straight people have no place in the acronym but that he can still be an ally, and this turns into an argument over inclusion. Just as I was warming up to Max, he reminded us that he’s a complete dumbass. Luka was right when he said that his mind is probably like a cartoon.

Natalya eventually chimes in by saying that everyone should be accepted in a community, which ticks Kyle off. He starts going off on her, and she counters that he shouldn’t talk to her with the tone and attitude he’s using. Kyle practically hovers over the table and yells at Nat to focus on her “own fucked up life” because she’s a “fake-ass bitch” who’s been talking shit since the start of the season. Whew! These people are a handful. Next week, another dreaded installment of the Kyle and Natalya show arrives. In the meantime, I’ll be manifesting that they get thrown overboard pronto.

How Less Below Deck Content Could Benefit the Franchise

By Elizabeth Cheema

below deck med yacht season 8

The Below Deck franchise has been nonstop as of late. Below Deck now has so many spin-offs, that there is at least one season airing year-round at this point. Seasons are back to back, and viewers don’t have time to catch their breath before jumping from one to the next.

Last April, Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 kicked off, and ended in July, Only one week later, Below Deck Down Under Season 2 made its debut. Again, merely one week after Below Deck Down Under wrapped up, Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8 aired its first episode. Now, Below Deck Season 11 has premiered, again only one week after the final episode of Below Deck Med.

While I love Below Deck as much as the next, I agree that Bravo is giving us a little too much of it. It could be a good idea for Bravo to stop throwing Below Deck seasons at us back to back, which could benefit the franchise in more ways than one.

Below Deck Fans Are Getting Burnt Out

It seems to be a consensus among Below Deck fans that the burnout is real. No matter how dedicated Below Deck fans may be, keeping up with an episode every week year-round is a lot. If you get even a few episodes behind on a season, then it’s a ton of work to catch up. This is especially annoying with social media nowadays, as it’s hard not to run into spoilers online.

If fans get too burnt out, they may lose interest in the franchise altogether. This would certainly not be good for Bravo, so they should try to take steps to prevent that from happening. It doesn’t have to be anything drastic, but it would be nice to have at least a few weeks off between seasons.

Another problem is that recent seasons have been slacking a bit. Below Deck Med Season 8 in particular received criticism from fans, who found it boring and hard to keep up with. The season was a hot mess in almost every way, and there weren’t many cast members worth rooting for.

Fan Favorite Cast Members Could Shoot More Seasons

Kerry Titheradge

Another huge benefit to less Below Deck content would be more opportunities to see fan-favorite cast members. Due to scheduling conflicts and filming seasons back to back, many popular crew members miss out on opportunities to film.

For instance, Captain Kerry Titheradge will likely not be able to keep staring on Below Deck Adventure since he is now on the OG show. This isn’t terrible news, since Below Deck Adventure was not well received at all. If it was, however, then this would cause a conflict for both fans and crew members. If seasons were shot further apart, it would be possible for cast members to film as much as they would like.

In addition to Captain Kerry, there have been several other cast members who have moved between spin-offs. This is a lot of fun for viewers, who enjoy seeing cast members work with different Captains and crews. However, with such tight filming schedules, the majority of crew members are not able to do this. With fewer seasons, however, it would be possible for these crew members to appear in any season they would like.

Below Deck Fans Would Have More Time For Other Bravo Shows

below deck med yacht season 8

Below Deck is without a doubt one of the most intriguing Bravo shows. Season 11 in particular seems like a lot of fun, and will surely entertain viewers for the next few months. With Below Deck episodes every week, however, it is hard for fans to keep up with their other favorite shows airing at the same time. Bravo is addictive, if you like one show, you probably love them all!

A lot of Below Deck fans also love the Real Housewives franchise, which has multiple seasons airing year-round as well. Another huge Bravo hit is Vanderpump Rules , which is currently airing its much anticipated eleventh season. This is a lot for us Bravo fans to keep up with, so it would help if Below Deck could take a little off our plate!

Below Deck Med schedule change: Here’s what to know about the rest of Season 8 episodes amid hiatus

Haleigh Gorman and Lara Du Preez on Below Deck Med Season 8

Below Deck Med only has a handful of episodes remaining in Season 8 before fans say goodbye to Captain Sandy Yawn and the Mustique crew.

It’s been a rough season to watch, as it was filled with drama, feuds, and many toxic personalities.

The hit Bravo show will take a little break after the most recent episode.

Despite the finale being on the horizon, the end of Below Deck Med Season 8 has been pushed back a few weeks.

Let’s look at the rest of the schedule for Below Deck Med as a hiatus looms.

How long will Below Deck Med Season 8 be on break?

Unsurprisingly, the yachting show won’t return until January 2024. After all, the holiday season has arrived, which usually means no new episodes of TV shows.

That’s the case with Below Deck Med, as the show will be preempted for Christmas on Monday, December 25. Bravo has a movie marathon scheduled airing the films A Bad Moms Christmas, The Family Man, and Just Go With It on rotation throughout the day. On Monday, January 1, Below Deck Med will again be preempted as Bravo celebrates the New Year.

The next new episode of Season 8 of Below Deck Med won’t air until Monday, January 8, 2024, but there will be no break for the rest of the season. It’s all brand-new episodes until the Mustique crew leaves the luxury yacht.

Below Deck Med Season 8 schedule

When will the Season 8 finale of Below Deck Med and reunion show air?

Below Deck Season 11 kicks off on Monday, February 5, so Below Deck Med will wrap up before then.

Based on the number of charters left in the season, three episodes should be left to air in 2024, putting the finale on Monday, January 22. If there is a reunion show, it would then air on Monday, January 29.

A reunion show is definitely in order with the toxic season and feuds that have erupted. No doubt, fans will have many questions that need to be answered. In all honesty, the reunion could be a two-part event but will likely only be one if it happens.

Remember, neither Below Deck Season 10 nor Below Deck Down Under Season 2 had reunion shows, so it’s not a given that Below Deck Med Season 8 will have one.

Are you ready for a little Below Deck Med break, or do you want the season to end?

Below Deck Med airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo. Seasons 1-7 are streaming on Peacock.

This has been a horrible season to watch. The only one I can tolerate is Luka. However Laura is the best part of the show and the only reason that I tune in.

Below Deck Loses 2 Crewmembers After a Firing and a Dramatic Season 11 Departure

Below deck 's capt. kerry titheradge fired the first season 11 yachtie during the bravo series' march 18 episode, but that wasn't the only shocking departure. find out who else left the yacht..

The  St. David  is down not one, but two crewmembers.

During Below Deck 's March 18 episode, Captain Kerry Titheradge  fired the first season 11 yachtie when he let Bosun Jared Woodin go for unprofessional behavior, the last straw being an inebriated Jared barging into Stew Barbie Pascual 's cabin the night prior and yelling at Deckhand Kyle Stillie for leaving a mess of loose tobacco on the deck after a night of partying.

"This is the second time you've gone on the piss and you've had bad behavior," Kerry told his subordinate. "You're in a leadership role. You can't be acting like that. You gotta be above the fray. The way that you're treating these guy is not acceptable."

But it wasn't just the alcohol that was the problem, as Kerry noted Jared's mental state wasn't where it needed to be. "You've got s--t going on, man," he shared. "You're your own worst enemy right now. You need to depart the vessel."

However, Jared agreed his head wasn't in the right place and accepted his termination graciously.

"This ain't the right place for me at the right time," Jared replied, to which Kerry responded, "I don't blame you for that. Take this time and work on yourself. Me keeping you here is a disservice to you."

Before departing the super-yacht, Jared reflected in a confessional, "I thought I was in a good headspace coming into this. I'm really not. And as much as I'd like to be I'm just lying to myself."

But Jared wasn't the only teammate to set sail during the latest episode. Stew Cat Baugh willingly left the ship after admittedly struggling with the job all season long.

"I really wanna push through for you guys," Cat, in tears, told Chief Stew Fraser Olender after receiving a very distressing call from a friend back home in America. "I'm just losing my mind right now."

And Fraser totally understood his crewmember's needs.

"If you're in a very unhappy place," he told her, "I'd rather you put your health and your mental health before that and we get you the help you need as soon as we can."

In a confessional, Fraser elaborated, "I don't know what is going on, but you can look into someone's eyes sometimes and see that there is no more that they can give. They are going through enough to be incapable and I need to do what's right for her. "

See how the crew copes with the unexpected departures when Below Deck airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo. And keep reading to look back at the most shocking Below Deck firings ever.

If there's one thing to learn from Camille Lamb 's Below Deck firing, it's to not slack off on the job. That's exactly why the season 10 stew was let go by substitute Captain Sandy Yawn , as Chief Stew Fraser Olender continued to criticize Camille's behavior on board.

From being caught drinking while preparing for a new charter to partying at late hours and more, Fraser informed Captain Sandy that he had reached his "last straw."

"She's the common denominator in all of this," said Captain Sandy. "Great girl, great personality, but at the same time, we have to do what's best for the boat."

Below Deck Adventure 's Kyle Dickard was let go just three episodes into the reality franchise's latest series—which premiered in November 2022. After picking fights with his fellow deckhand Nathan Morley —as well as kissing crew mates in front of guests—Kyle was offered by Captain Kerry Titheradge the opportunity to resign so that his firing would not end up on his personal record.

Kyle took the Captain up on his offer and left the boat after just one charter.

Captain Sandy let bosun Raygan Tyler go during season seven of Below Deck Mediterranean ,  not only for causing the boat to  take a small hit while docking, but also for not stepping up to the plate as a leader.

But Captain Sandy didn't want her firing to discourage the bosun, as she told Raygan, "If I had the time and I wasn't running a boat this size, I would train you. I would teach you."

In addition to onboard romances and failing to follow directions , one of the biggest reasons behind stew Elizabeth Frankini 's Below Deck firing was her infamous laundry room accident , during which made a toxic mess when combining bleach and laundry soap.

"Unfortunately, I didn't know that was so toxic and I feel so bad about it," she told E! News of the incident in December 2020 . "You know, I do feel really bad, especially 'cause Francesca [ Rubi ] did say, 'Take it outside.'"

The bosun and stew were both fired by Captain Jason Chambers for inappropriate behavior after a night of partying with their fellow yachties.

Luke Jones was let go after getting into Stew Margot Sisson 's bed naked while she was drunk and unconscious. Laura Bileskaine also made unwanted advances on Deckhand Adam Kodra despite him telling her he was not interested in hooking up.

Jason made it known that consent was a must, and sent both crewmembers packing.

Tensions between stew Lexi Wilson and Chef Mathew Shea came to a head during an explosive dinner fight on season six of Below Deck Mediterranean , during which Lexi told Matt that his parents "should've aborted you." That was the last straw for Captain Sandy, who fired her not long after the incident.

Deckhand Tom Pearson said "bon voyage" to Below Deck Sailing Yacht after getting let go by Captain Glenn Shephard . Tom hit his last strike with the Captain after failing to report that the boat's anchor was dragging during heavy winds one night, causing a potential safety risk for everyone on board.

"It had to be done. It was such a grievous thing that he dropped the ball there, he had to go, and we had to just be man down and live with it, you know?" Captain Glenn said of the decision  on Watch What Happens Live. "So, obviously, you don't want to do that, but yeah, it had to happen."

Some people are picky eaters, but Below Deck Down Under' s Ryan McKeown was quite the picky chef, as he would judge guests'  food requests  and fail to take  criticism from Captain Jason Chambers , as well.

Perhaps Ryan's Below Deck exit is one of the franchise's most memorable, as he mooned Jason and viewers on his way off the boat.

Below Deck Down Under stew Magda Ziomek 's firing was another case of slacking on the job. After constantly being on her phone texting or video chatting with her boyfriend, Chief Stew Aesha Scott decided to replace Magda before the end of the charter season.

Below Deck Mediterranean 's Peter Hunziker was fired from the series in June 2020 after he shared an offensive post on social media.

"Peter Hunziker of Below Deck Mediterranean has been terminated for his racist post," Bravo wrote in a statement at the time. "Bravo and 51 Minds are editing the show to minimize his appearance for subsequent episodes."

Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier was let go by Captain Sandy on Below Deck Mediterranean after boson Malia White discovered her co-star possessed undeclared Valium and a vape pen, the former of which Hannah claimed was for her anxiety.

"If I could do it all over again, I would've just declared them as soon as I came on board," Hannah stated in an August 2020 interview with E! News. "It was definitely not something that was intentional. I wasn't trying to hide anything.

Below Deck Mediterranean 's Delaney Evans left just as quickly as she arrived. After initially being brought on during season six to help out Chief Stew Katie Flood , Katie determined that Delaney was doing more harm than good, choosing to let her go after just one charter.

"I think she was overwhelmed with the situation, and I think that, you know, in her mind, the best solution to the situation was just to go back to what they had before," Delaney told Bravo Insider of Katie's decision. "I think she was just overwhelmed with everything that was going on and all the feedback she was getting."

Deckhand Shane Coopersmith was a bit in over his head on season eight of Below Deck , as he was let go for failing to know basic skills, reporting late for duty and taking naps on the job.

Chaos in the kitchen led to Captain Lee Rosbach letting Chef Leon Walker go on season three of Below Deck . After an oven fire broke out , Lee placed the blame on Chief Stew Kate Chastain but was ultimately the one sent home.

Like several of the franchise's stars, Below Deck 's Chris Brown  was fired  during season five for failing to fully perform his duties. After being let go by Captain Lee, Chris shared some parting words as he left the boat, stating , "Who gives a s--t?"

Chef Mila Kolomeitseva was fired by Captain Sandy on season four of Below Deck Mediterranean after failing to use her cooking skills to produce top-quality food for guests—including some not-so-nice nachos .

"Of course it makes me feel awful," Mila said of her departure . "People like me who have big egos sometimes have to be put down to earth a little bit. But it makes me feel like I want to work even harder."

Sometimes people just don't work well together. That's exactly why Captain Lee fired Chandler Brooks during season six of Below Deck , telling the boson, "I don't think it's a good fit."

Captain Kerry dishes on 2 dramatic Below Deck exits: 'Things were getting pretty hostile'

"That's probably the fastest departure in 'Below Deck' history."

Warning: This article contains spoilers for  Below Deck , season 11, episode 7, “Cat's Out of the Bag.”

Below Deck 's Captain Kerry Titheradge called Monday night’s episode a “corker” during a recent Instagram Live — and he wasn’t kidding.

During a single charter, two crew members left St. David; bosun Jared Woodin was fired and stew Cat Baugh left for personal reasons.

Tonight's episode, aptly named "Cat's Out of the Bag," saw Captain Kerry lowering the boom on Jared following a drunken altercation with deckhand Kyle Stillie. But the heated discussion in the crew mess wasn't the only reason Jared was let go. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Captain Kerry shed more light on why he dismissed the bosun.

Though he anticipated firing Jared, he wasn't prepared for what he calls "the fastest departure in Below Deck history" when Cat needed to leave the boat immediately.

Below, Captain Kerry shares how his mental health journey and being on Below Deck Adventure changed who he is today and greatly impacted how he handled the two crew departures.

Fred Jagueneau/Bravo

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: I feel like there's been kind of a buildup this season to what happened on this episode. We've seen Jared not know his distances and get very emotional, and then poor Cat's been having a hard time as well. How soon into the season did you know they might be struggling?

CAPTAIN KERRY TITHERADGE: Off the bat, like day one. The thing is, you can know it, but also you try to change the direction. There were other crew [members] I was concerned about too — and that's going to come out in future episodes, where we were able to work with them, where they were getting to a point of breaking as well. So I don't know. I think when you've gone through something pretty emotional, it makes you more aware of where people are at.

You shared your story with Jared and you really connected with him, so I want to talk about him first because he seemed to unravel quite quickly from that one phone call that he couldn't get through, and then it came to a head in the crew mess after Kyle spilled tobacco near the hot tub and Jared let him have it. We've seen crew members go crazy on the boat and party and scream and yell. How bad was the fight between Jared and Kyle that it woke you up?

I mean, it woke me up. Things were getting pretty hostile. Again, this happened a while ago, so there's only so much we can actually show [on air], but I was aware of where he was at. I put pressure on Jared and I do it with all my guys... it's a yacht. I know there's a TV show behind it, but it's a yacht and I have standards, and my standards are that I'm not waking up to a mess in the hot tub. And I'm nice enough to not go up there straight away and check. I've seen other episodes of Jared running around in the morning making sure [everything is cleaned up]. So I mean, that's pressure I've put on him, but that's the pressure I'd put on anybody to make sure it's right.

So things are getting wound up. And really, Kyle has tobacco up there, I mean, if I would've seen it up there, [Kyle] probably would've gone home. Because you don't do loose tobacco in a hot tub. That stuff gets on a teak, it gets on the paintwork. It'll stain. So [Jared] had a good reason to be doing what he was doing, but he wasn't in the right state to be dealing with it at that time.

I watched it again, and I don't see all those steps. I just hear this noise. I was really woken up earlier. I want the crew to have a good time, but they shouldn't be having a good time at my expense.

So did you know that night you were probably firing [Jared] the next day?

I was already thinking through where he was at. And the problem is when you're on your last warning, people don't usually get past a second warning and survive because there's too much pressure. And I can see him struggling. And I've got reports that he was drinking that night and I told him to stop the piss. You're going through a lot of s--- right now, mate. And there were more conversations than what we can show. We don't have enough time.

But there were more times I spoke with him about going through what he's going through and getting his head straight and being in the game and that alcohol is not going to help you make the right decisions. It's going to make things worse. And he told me that he would back off the booze, and that was from that first crew party. When I saw him break the glass, I left. I'm like, man, I want the crew to have their fun. But the other thing that people aren't fully aware of is my responsibility as a captain isn't just what happens on the boat. So if my crew is getting too drunk and they hurt themselves on the beach or falling out of a cab, that's my responsibility.

Do you think Jared could have been drinking a little on charter?

If I would've smelled it, he would've been off the boat faster than Cat was. So it never entered my mind that that was happening. What was happening is you hit the booze hard and then the next day you're not going to function as well. And what I wasn't aware of was Ben undermining him. So he had to constantly deal with being undermined, keeping his head cool. He [couldn't get through to] his daughter, the job, me... he had pressure from everywhere,

And you really tried to work with him. I also have to ask, what was the deal with his [Wi-Fi] signal? I noticed he was on the boat, he couldn't get through to his daughter, but then he was on land trying to get through.

I've seen a bit of chatter about that online because they see me talking to my kids and then him not. I'm on the bridge. He's trying to contact his daughter down in his room. It's like being inside a high-rise or in a basement. So that could address that issue. I offered him to use my phone more than one time to speak to his child. In the last episode, he had an iPhone and his regular phone beside him. I don't know whether he borrowed a crew member's phone or what, but maybe it was the other side. Maybe other things were happening in Alaska that weren't lining up. Do you know what I mean?

I will say that was one of the most graceful firings I've seen on Below Deck . He was being fired, but in the end, he left feeling okay. So kudos to you.

I was worried about him. I'm getting a little emotional thinking about it. I'm going back there. I've been in that low spot where I don't know if I can find a way out of this.

I've been there and what did I do? I quit my job and I came ashore and painted houses. I got out of there. I had to put the ego aside. I'm running a 300-foot yacht. I'm in the pinnacle of my career. I'm in the Maldives. I've always wanted to be here. I've been working so hard to get there, and I've got to take care of this. I've got to be there for my kids. How hard it can be? So if I never had been there and we'd go to the Captain Kerry of 10 years ago, you'd see a different person talking. I wouldn't be as gentle. I'd be pissed off and I would've made his mental health worse because I would've just drilled him to the ground. "You'd let me down. You had the opportunity. You keep f---ing up." You know what I mean? That was the way that I grew up in the industry. The boat doesn't change for you. You change for the boat. And a big part of me changing is not only my experience in that, but when I shot [Below Deck] Adventure , I was already on that train of mental health and stuff, but also able to see myself and have that opportunity to see [myself] from someone else's perspective,

And then to see behind the scenes how that's affected somebody in a positive or negative manner. So the show in itself has made me a better captain, a better partner, a better father, a better human being.

Well, it shows. Have you talked to Jared since? How's he doing?

I got with him before the first episode because I didn't know how they were going to portray him, and I wanted to make sure he was okay. Just let him know, look man, I know you're in a bad headspace. Got any problems, give me a call. I got with Cat, but Jared was in town, so he came to my house. We went and got a burger. I invited Jared to the watch party last weekend.

So he's doing well. Did Jared say that firing him was probably the best thing you could've done for him?

A hundred percent. A hundred percent. And he brought his dad to come to my watch party and his dad thanked me.

And then we have Cat. We don't know exactly what it was, but it seems like whatever happened was horrific. What was going on there?

I knew that she was having challenges by just seeing her move around. I'm surprised by how much trouble she was having at the job and how gracious Xandi was in training her. But it breaks my heart to see how much Cat was crying. And then she would come out and have to put a brave face on.

But she was really struggling. And as soon as I found out that she was in that bad place, I mean, there's no editing there. I'm bringing the port control. I'm ringing local Coast Guard. I'm ringing everybody. I could just see it in her face. I didn't need to know what was going on. It didn't matter what it was. To her, it was catastrophic. And that's something else I've learned on my journey is that it's real to that person who's going through it. It doesn't matter if it doesn't affect you or how insignificant it may seem. It's real to them.

That's probably the fastest departure in Below Deck history.

So how is Cat doing?

She's having a hard time seeing herself where she's at. But she said she's in a pretty good headspace. And I've shown her support — I say, look, if you need someone to talk to, I'm always here.

I know you jumped in once you were down two crew members. You're washing dishes and everything, so you were very cool about it. But were you freaking out that you lost two people in one day?

No, because freaking out doesn't get the job done. So don't get me wrong. There's a big... like, okay, Kerry, did you think this through? [ Laughs ] But it wasn't for me to think through. These two people were in a place where their minds weren't on the job because they were having some mental health issues that we couldn't take care of on board.

Catch all the Below Deck deck drama on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. Captain Kerry promises the drama continues, teasing that despite newly appointed bosun Ben Willoughby's strong performance, he, too, may encounter rough waters.

‘Below Deck’ Sails Into a New Era

With a different captain at the helm and new production elements, the reality show about charter yachts is switching up its style.

A man in a crew member suit stands behind a bar and tends to flowers in a vase.

By Shivani Gonzalez

Starting a new season of “ Below Deck ” can be similar to returning to summer camp as a kid — you know it’s going to be fun and that you’ll be in the same environment, but some of the people will be different and you’re not quite sure what the vibes will be.

This time around, in particular, feels that way because for the first time in the show’s 11-season run, Captain Lee Rosbach is no longer at the helm. It’s a pivotal moment for a franchise that has become one of the most popular entities in the sprawling universe of reality TV since premiering on Bravo in 2013 . The show’s appeal was built on endless romances between various crew members (“boatmances,” as they came to be known), horrible charter guests and some sort of passive-aggressive fight about how many shackles of the anchor chain should be in the water. And there was always Rosbach presiding over the drama as he trudged around the boat, reeling off one liners like “I’m madder than a pissed-on chicken” and “we screwed the pooch so many times we should have a litter of puppies running around.”

At the center of the show now is Kerry Titheradge (the stern yet goofy captain of “Below Deck Adventure” fame), who is managing the Motor Yacht Saint David with the cheeky chief stew Fraser Olender by his side.

With that change in captain, the energy on the boat — both onscreen and off — is different, according to Olender.

“Lee has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him,” Olender said in an interview. “With Kerry, he taught me a lot and sort of forced to me confront issues directly with my team, work them out, as opposed to making executive decisions too soon.”

This shift in management style changes the central conflict — whereas the drama once focused on the captain swiftly kicking out any unpleasant crew member (as we might have seen with Rosbach), the drama now focuses on the whole crew trying to get along (since Titheradge gives people those second chances).

Additionally, Olender noted that the captain’s relationship with the crew can also affect the drama on board.

“Captains absolutely do get involved, whether they know it or not,” Olender said, adding that for the crew, everything is about “trying to impress your captain.”

This phenomenon plays out early in the new season when the lead deckhand, Ben Willoughby, called out a fellow crew member over the radios about not wearing a life vest — something he easily could have done in private. The drama that followed became an interpersonal conflict between the two of them, both with the ultimate goal of impressing Titheradge. (Of course, the two deckhands had kissed on the previous crew night out, which is more in line with the “Below Deck” drama viewers are used to.)

For “Below Deck” showrunners, the changeovers in the cast allowed them to rethink what the show would look like.

From the season premiere, it was immediately apparent that Rosbach’s absence wasn’t the only change this season: The filming is sleeker, the daily, multicourse meals prepared by the chef are given their own glamour shots and the cameras sometimes cut to the perspectives of yachties running around on deck and through the galley.

“Our showrunner, Lauren Simms, is an avid consumer of all different kinds of media,” Noah Samton, a senior vice president of unscripted current production for NBCUniversal, said in an interview. “She pitches us different ideas on how to stylistically evoke different feelings and change the mood a little bit of ‘Below Deck’ without removing what really works.”

Moving through the rest of the season, and potentially through seasons to come, Olender is aiming to bring a cutthroat management style while also bringing affection for his stews, all with his signature British humor.

On Bravo’s side, there are changes in the works for the other “Below Deck” spinoffs — including “Sailing Yacht,” “Mediterranean” and “Down Under” — which collectively, have 26 seasons. Specifically, Samton said that “Down Under” is currently filming and that even though fans should be ready to see new things, the show will stay true to its original concept.

“These are real yachties doing a real job so you have to stay within those confines because the audience isn’t going to want anything that is too produced or fake,” Samton said. “So we have to find ways to reinvent while staying true to the original concept of the show.”

And as Olender said: “I’m sure that every year if I were to work with this franchise again, that I’ll be thrown a collection of total chaotic and disastrous stews — that’s what makes it watchable.”

An earlier version of this article misquoted Fraser Olender, the chief stew of “Below Deck.” He said, “I also feel like Kerry this season. ... Lee has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him,” not “I feel like Kerry this season, as opposed to Lee, has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him.”

  • Captain Sandy Yawn was a stern captain on Below Deck, firing crew members and clashing with others.

This season of the show introduces a whole new crew of fresh and returning faces, led by Captain Kerry Titheradge, aboard the mega yacht St. David. Captain Kerry replaced Captain Lee Rosbach, who used to helm this vessel, and will be joined by returning cast members Chief Stew Fraser Olender and Deckhand turned Bosun Ben Willoughby.

Below Deck season 11 has already been a tumultuous season with Captain Kerry sending multiple crew members home . As usual, the drama among the crew threatens to derail the luxury yachting excursions they're guiding around Grenada. Though it may be too early to identify season 11's biggest villain, it's the perfect time to reflect on the best, most iconic villains of the Below Deck franchise.

Below Deck Mediterranean 's Captain Sandy Yawn made her way to the main series to fill in for Captain Lee Rosbach at one point. She brought a unique dominant female energy to the show and was often quite stern with her crew. During her time on the show, she fired deckhand/stew Camille Lamb and even developed a feud with chief stew Fraser Olender.

10 Malia White

Below deck mediterranean.

Malia White started as a deckhand in Below Deck Med season 2, where she was caught in a love triangle with Chef Adam Glick and Bosun Wesley Walton, whom she went on to date for several years after. In Below Deck Med seasons 5 and 6, she came back as a bosun. During season 5, she ratted out Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier for having unregistered Valium and a vape pen on board. Since then, Below Deck viewers haven't been as welcoming toward Malia.

9 Ashton Pienaar

Ashton Pienaar joined the cast of Below Deck seasons 6 and 7, as a deckhand, then a bosun. In season 6, he won sympathy after a scary experience when his foot got caught in a tow line, and he was dragged into the water. However, the following season, he began drinking heavily on nights out and belligerently lashed out at Chief Stew Kate Chastain. One night, he angrily punched the inside of the van door while on their way back to their mega-yacht, Valor. Ashton never returned to Below Deck again.

8 Lexi Wilson

After getting back from their crew night out, Lexi Wilson from Below Deck Med season 6 got wasted drunk and fought with her crew mates. Not only did she talk back to Chief Steward Katie Flood and Bosun Malia, but she also got into a physical altercation with Deckhand Mzi Dempers . Lexi was fired from Below Deck Med towards the end of the season following a verbal altercation with Chef Mathew Shea.

7 Adam Glick

Below deck mediterranean and below deck sailing yacht.

Adam Glick returned as the chef on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 1 after appearing on Below Deck Med seasons 2 and 3. When he first joined Below Deck Med , Adam was involved with lead deckhand Malia, but the relationship began to crumble after Malia started to develop feelings for her bosun , Wes. After Malia picked Wes, Adam lost his cool and even physically assaulted Wes on a day off.

6 João Franco

João Franco first appeared as the lead deckhand during Below Deck Med season 3. Captain Sandy took note of his dedicated work ethic and welcomed João back for season 4 as her bosun. However, this season proved to be less successful, as João found himself in the middle of a love triangle and at odds with Chief Stew, Hannah, resulting in season 4 being his last . However, he did return for Below Deck Down Under season 2 and still ended the season on a bad note with fans.

5 Leon Walker

Leon Walker appeared on Below Deck season 3 and quickly made enemies with former Chief Stew Kate . When Leon wasn't blatantly telling Kate that he didn't like her, he was refusing to cater to the guest's culinary requests on board. Despite his terrible attitude, Leon wasn't fired until a dirty oven caused a fire to break out in the galley.

4 Kyle Viljoen

Kyle Viljoen made quite an impression on Below Deck Med season 7 before an unexpected injury ended his charter season. Kyle had a brief romance with a charter guest , which was breaking the Captain's rules, but he did it anyway. Though Kyle was a fan favorite, when he twisted his ankle onboard, his damaged ligaments meant that he was unable to perform basic tasks, so Captain Sandy had to relieve him from duty.

3 Gary King

Below deck: sailing yacht.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4's Gary King has been a controversial part of the series. Gary is a lifetime yachtie who is known for his cavalier attitude and playboy ways . Gary has caused quite a stir as he's moved through Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, especially in his relationships with Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae.

2 Kyle Dickard

Below deck adventure.

Kyle Dickard's Below Deck Adventure experience was short-lived but memorable. Kyle was a deckhand aboard the yacht and quickly found himself in trouble after sparking a romance with Kasie Faddah. While Kasie initially seemed interested in Kyle, the deckhand started flirting with her in front of charter guests . In addition to continuing to pursue Kasie, he disrespected cast members on nights out.

1 Peter Hunziker

Peter Hunziker was a deckhand on Below Deck Med season 5 but was immediately cut from the show after a racist post resurfaced online . Before Peter was let go by Bravo , he made a few inappropriate comments towards the women onboard. He constantly referred to Malia as " sweetheart ," which she didn't like. He was also creepy towards Chief Steward Bugsy Drake by hitting on her. From the start, Peter was problematic, and the racist post was just the nail in the coffin.

Below Deck season 11 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo. Episodes are available for streaming on Tuesdays on Peacock.
