Taylor Swift famously left on boat after explosive Harry Styles vacation break up

A photo of Taylor Swift leaving her romantic holiday with boyfriend at the time Harry Styles has resurfaced in 2022.

The pair dated for a few months from late 2012 to early 2013. They were first photographed together in December 2012 in New York’s Central Park, but things quickly turned sour between them.

Harry and Taylor went on a New Year getaway to the Virgin Islands and had a huge bust up which resulted in the Blank Space singer travelling home on her own.

She left the vacation a boat, and a paparazzi photo of her has gone down in history as one of the most hilariously sad pictures of all time.

Taylor and Harry broke up on holiday

The two musicians famously broke up whilst on a loved-up holiday in the Caribbean.

“Yes I can confirm they have split up,” a source told Daily Mail in January 2013: “They were on holiday and had an almighty row.”

The couple jetted off to Virgin Gorda, the third-largest of the British Virgin Islands, on New Year’s Day to spend some time together.

However, they had a huge argument which resulted in the singer cutting her trip short and returning home alone.

A paparazzi photo showed Taylor leaving the British Virgin Islands to travel home following the row.

In the image, she is sitting on a boat on her own, wearing a blue dress and black sunglasses as she stares into the distance glumly.

She is the only one on the small white boat which says “Flying Rae” on the back. To get to Virgin Gorda, you have to fly into St. Thomas and get a two hour ferry across to the island.

Taylor cut her trip short, but Harry continued partying in the Caribbean with friends and even visited Richard Branson, who owns a private island nearby.

“When Taylor left for The States, Harry went to Branson’s island to let off some steam,” the same source told the Daily Mail.

They added that he did “lots of partying” whilst on Necker Island and returned to Virgin Gorda the following morning after the “raucous night”.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: When it comes to her music, Taylor Swift is the queen of leaving Easter eggs in her songs for her fans to speculate on.

The most recent one is the 'Is It Over Now?' song from the '1989 (Taylor's Version)' album, released on October 27, which according to fans, might allude to her former lover Harry Styles .

The singer, 33, has included never-before-heard tracks on the reissue of her fifth album, '1989', which launched her career to new heights in 2014.

The album includes all 19 original songs as well as five more songs "from the vault"; some of these songs might indicate her breakup with Styles, 29, whom she dated before the 2014 release of '1989.'

Swift calls out a past lover in the new song 'Is It Over Now?', accusing him of being a "lying traitor" and having an affair with other models following their breakup, per Daily Mail .

The couple parted ways nearly ten years ago. However, longtime Swifties observed a link between the two and the new From The Vault tune 'Is It Over Now?'

In the synth-pop ballad 'Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Verison),' Swift seems to be singing about how hard it is to move on from a former relationship when both individuals are in the spotlight.

Swift sings, "And did you think I didn’t see you? / There were flashin’ lights," apparently in reference to her ex-partner being seen in pictures.

"At least I had the decency / To keep my nights out of sight / Only rumors ’bout my hips and thighs /And my whispered sighs," she continues.

Swift continues, labeling the former lover a "lying traitor" and charging them with looking in "every model’s bed for something greater."

Swift refers to the ex's "new girl" as her "clone" and jokes about their shared reluctance to let go of their romance in other parts of the song, as per US Weekly .

Swift disclosed that she and her ex-partner were once engaged in a snowmobile accident in an interview with Rolling Stone in 2014. She told the media, "You know what I’ve found works even better than an NDA?"

"Looking someone in the eye and saying, ‘Please don’t tell anyone about this." In contrast, Styles was seen in pictures with a bandage over his chin a few days after the event.

Swift recalls a "blue dress on a boat" in the second verse as well. Swift and Styles are said to have called it quits in 2013 while on vacation in the Virgin Islands.

Fans of Swift might recall a picture that appeared online in 2013 and showed Swift sitting grimly by herself on a yacht in the Virgin Islands, clad in black sunglasses and a blue outfit.

At the time, rumors circulated that Swift and Styles had been on vacation together when they got into an argument and called it quits. The picture in question shows her departing the trip by herself.

Online Swifties and other Internet users took to online platform X (formerly Twitter) to express their views on speculations that Swift's 'Is It Over Now?' song is about Styles.

One fan quipped, "Harry styles listening to “Is It Over Now?” thinking he was safe from the rerecordings," with an image of Swift.

A second X user wrote, "Harry after listening to is it over now?" with a clip of Styles.

"Is it over now?” Taylor said “I’m talking about Harry Edward Styles and I will make sure every last one of you b*****s knows it”, wrote a third one.

How Taylor Swift subtly addresses her iconic sad boat photo on 1989 (Taylor's Version)

You've heard of the Sad Keanu meme , but have you heard of Sad Taylor?

Longtime Swifties will recall a photo that made the rounds online in 2013 (below), featuring Taylor Swift sitting glumly by herself on a boat in the Virgin Islands wearing a blue dress and black sunglasses. According to reports at the time , Swift and Harry Styles had been vacationing together, got into a disagreement, and broke up, with said photo capturing her leaving the trip alone. (It all worked out for Swift, though, who would go on to create 1989 , her second record to win the coveted Grammy for Album of the Year.)

While the music video for the 1989 song "Out of the Woods" featured Swift in a blue dress, leading some to speculate if it was the dress or perhaps an allusion to it, she's never overtly addressed the "sad boat photo" moment in her music... until now.

On the just-released re-recording of the album, 1989 (Taylor's Version) , the all-new vault track "Is It Over Now?" contains a fairly obvious nod to the alleged incident with the lyrics, "Blue dress / On a boat / Your new girl / Is my clone." (Fans have also pointed out that the latter half of the lyric seems like a companion or response to Styles' song "From the Dining Table," which includes the lyrics, "Woke up the girl who looked just like you / I almost said your name.")

"Is It Over Now?" is a breakup song from the perspective of a narrator wondering exactly when a doomed relationship ended (while also getting in a few good jabs at the ex, naturally). It seems to include several other references to Styles, including that infamous alleged snowmobile accident in 2012 , lending credence to the theory that it could be about the former couple and their ill-fated trip to the Caribbean — and by extension, yes, that sadly hilarious photo.

If "Is It Over Now?" is a vault track new to most listeners' ears, it was technically written back around the time the rest of 1989 was. Swift and Styles have since moved on. They appeared to have no bad blood when they were seen chatting it up and applauding each other at the 2021 Grammys, and then fist-bumping at the 2023 ceremony, much to fans' delight. The two globe-conquering pop stars would probably laugh about it all today.

A decade after it went viral the first time, a photo of Taylor Swift in a blue dress on a boat is circulating on the internet again after she referenced it in her new song, “Is It Over Now?”

“Is It Over Now?” is the fifth “From the Vault” track and the last song on 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , a re-release of Taylor’s fifth studio album, 1989 , which was first released in 2014 and won the Grammy for Album of the Year.

According to People, the photo of Taylor Swift in a blue dress on the boat was taken while was sitting in customs. Styles, meanwhile, stayed on the vacation and even paid a visit to business magnate Richard Branson’s private island. “Richard Branson heard Harry was staying nearby so invited him to come check out Necker,” a source told Business Insider at the time. “So when Taylor left for the states, Harry went to Branson’s island for the day to let off some steam.”

It’s been 10 years since Taylor Swift and Harry Styles were rumored to be dating, as they were spotted strolling around New York City’s Central Park Zoo in December 2012. While the suspected couple never publicly confirmed their short-lived relationship, fans have since gotten songs from both artists that are widely believed to be about their whirlwind romance, from Styles’ “Ever Since New York” and “Two Ghosts” to Swift’s “Out of the Woods” and the aptly titled “Style.”

While visiting The Ellen DeGeneres with his One Direction bandmates, the talk show host decided to poke some fun with a game of “Never Have I Ever.” The first question was “Never have I ever had someone write a song about me,” to which Styles lifted the “I have never” paddle.

“We’re not going to play if you’re going to lie,” said DeGeneres, before flipping the paddle to the correct side, seemingly referring to songs on Swift’s 1989 . “We are very honest in this studio.”

April 2017 - Rolling Stone Cover Story

Following the release of his debut solo album in 2017, Styles discussed his “new direction” and his past relationship with Swift for his first solo Rolling Stone cover.

“When I see photos from that day,” he said in the interview of the couple’s Central Park date. “I think: Relationships are hard, at any age. And adding in that you don’t really understand exactly how it works when you’re 18, trying to navigate all that stuff didn’t make it easier. I mean, you’re a little bit awkward to begin with. You’re on a date with someone you really like. It should be that simple, right? It was a learning experience for sure. But at the heart of it – I just wanted it to be a normal date.”

When asked if Swift’s “Out of the Woods” and “Style” are about him, the singer replied, “I mean, I don’t know if they’re about me or not …” he says, attempting gallant discretion, “but the issue is, she’s so good, they’re bloody everywhere.”

He continued, “I write from my experiences; everyone does that. I’m lucky if everything [we went through] helped create those songs. That’s what hits your heart. That’s the stuff that’s hardest to say, and it’s the stuff I talk least about. That’s the part that’s about the two people. I’m never going to tell anybody everything.”

March 2020 - Howard Stern Interview

In an interview with Howard Stern on SiriusXM, Styles discussed a variety of topics, including his songwriting practices.

When Stern observed that Styles’ romantic songs are often followed by fans trying to figure out which famous love interest it’s about, the crooner agreed. “There’s not a lot of interviews where I talk a lot about personal stuff, but I’m fine doing it in music. And I feel like, doing it in music, that’s my version,” he explained.

Stern then brought up Styles’ former romance with Swift, asking if songs written about him upsets him. “I think about what it means to me to write a song about somebody else, and for someone else to do that, I think it’s flattering,” the “As It Was” singer replied. “Even if the song isn’t that flattering, you still spend time on it, and ultimately, using Taylor as an example, she’s a great songwriter.”

“The only time that you think, ‘Oh, is this song too personal?’ is if you think about, is this going to be really annoying for the other person,” he continued.

Two years after his first time discussing Taylor Swift on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show, Styles returned to receive yet another question about his famous past relationship.

The host brought up “Daylight” off of Styles’ third album, Harry’s House , noting that Swift also had a song called “Daylight,” cheekily wondering if he was reading too much into things. “You’re smiling,” he said to Styles.

During his One Night Only concert in London, the 28-year-old pop star was interacting with fans in the crowd when he reportedly discovered that one of them was there in celebration of their 22nd b-day. “Twenty-two!” he exclaimed from stage.

Harry Styles Enters His 1989 Era One Last Time

In anticipation of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , Taylor Swift has spent the last month actively reliving her “Shake It Off” years. She’s doing girl-squad pap walks around New York City, boldly embracing a new romance in public again, and now, resurfacing Haylor, her ship name with former boyfriend/fellow sequin appreciator Harry Styles, on “Is It Over Now?” Written by Swift and Jack Antonoff, this 1989 (TV) vault track sees Swift reminiscing about her notorious on-again, off-again relationship with a former boy-bander who had a thing for blue eyes, wondering whether it was finished for good. How do we know for sure? Let’s take a Central Park–themed walk through some of the song’s lyrics.

Clue: “When you lost control / Red blood, White snow” Translation: Ah, yes, the snowmobile accident, the same one referenced in “Out of the Woods” (“Remember when you hit the brakes too soon? Twenty stitches in the hospital room”). This confirms the song is almost certainly about Styles. Fans suspect the incident happened on a trip the two took a few days before Christmas 2012, since Styles was later seen attempting to hide his stitches with a scarf. (Also, he made a very conspicuous tweet about it the same day.) Later, Swift confirmed to Rolling Stone that she was in a snowmobile accident with an ex.

Clue: “I see your profile and your smile on unsuspecting waiters” Translation: The two pop stars allegedly first met at the Kids Choice Awards in March 2012. While there are no reports of them actually interacting at the show, “unsuspecting” might mean this was the night they were just foxes hiding in plain sight .

Clue: “Baby was it over when she laid down on your couch? / Was it over when he unbuttoned my blouse? / Was it over then and was it over now?” Translation: An allusion to the many beginnings and endings of their relationship. After crushing for months, the two allegedly started seeing each other for a few weeks in April 2012 — until Styles was caught kissing with “Gotta Be You” model Emily Ostilly . Later that year, Swift had a summer romance with Connor Kennedy, who might be the “he” she is referring to in this lyric. And “Was it over now” could be a time jump to January 2013, when Swift and Styles broke up for the second time . 

Clue: “And did you think I didn’t see you? There were flashing lights / At least I had the decency to keep my nights out of sight” Translation: A possible reference to the paparazzi photos of Styles kissing Ostilly. Vanity Fair claimed that Styles told Swift that he was just “kissing a friend good-bye,” which prompted Swift to Google pictures of the two clearly making out.

Clue: “You dream of my mouth before it called you a lying traitor” Translation: Styles’s childhood friend, Nick Clough, tells the Mirror that the One Direction star had a crush on Swift years before they got together. “He was like ‘Oh my god, she’s really, really good looking. I would do anything for a bit of that.’ Then he went and got with her years later!” And perhaps Swift called Styles a “lying traitor” after hearing his explanation for the Ostilly kiss.

Clue: “Your new girl is my clone” and “If she’s got blue eyes I will surmise that you’ll probably date her” Translation: Back in 2012, Styles had a type , and Swift clocked it immediately ( Ostilly was also a tall blonde with blue eyes). Styles was later rumored to be hanging out with Rod Stewart’s blue-eyed daughter, Kimberly Stewart , in April 2013.

Clue: “You search in every model’s bed for something greater” Translation: Ostilly = model.

Clue: “Blue dress on a boat” Translation: Swift finally references the rumored fight she had with Styles in the British Virgin Islands, where she was seen in a blue dress, sitting on a yacht alone on her way to the airport. The fight must’ve been particularly painful since the two had just shared a a kiss on New Year’s Eve.

Clue: “Once the flight has flown, with the wilt of a rose, I slept all alone” Translation: Swift flew back from her vacation with Styles on the British Virgin Islands “all alone. A few days later, she recorded the Styles-coded “All You Had to Do Was Stay.”

Sailing into the sunset? Taylor Swift wants to take Harry Styles on a romantic yacht trip

Taylor Swift is planning to take Harry Styles on a romantic yacht trip on the French Riviera this weekend.

The 23-year-old singer wants to have some "private romantic time" with the 18-year-old star ahead of his 19th birthday next Friday as part of the first steps of the pair getting back together following their split earlier this month. Taylor and Harry are expected to seal their reunion at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes this Sunday - where One Direction are nominated for International Group of the Year - and a source revealed Taylor wants "no expense to be spared" when she whisks Harry away. A One Direction insider told the Daily Star: "The lads are planning to hang out together enjoying Cannes - and they also want to get to Paris. "But Taylor is desperately trying to make arrangements for her and Harry to slip away and have private romantic time. "She has got a boat on standby ready for them to sneak off. "Taylor thought a boat would be the perfect getaway as photographers can't follow them." Taylor has rented a small private villa in the town of Mougins, four miles north of Cannes, but Harry's "main focus" is said to be spending time with his bandmates Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan. The insider added: "It's all up in the air as Harry's main focus is being with his band." But it would not be the first time Taylor and Harry went on a yacht after the One Direction singer hired a sailboat to take them to two private islands during their romantic break in the Caribbean at new year, but the holiday ended in disaster when they split after having an argument. A source said at the time: "Harry and Taylor kept getting hassled for pictures by fans on the island so he hired a yacht for two days and one night to take them to two private islands. "He organised snorkelling and a chef to cook gourmet meals when they wanted."

Harry Styles is kicking off 2024 by soaking up the sun and showing off his muscles on a tropical vacation with girlfriend Taylor Russell and close pal James Corden .

The 29-year-old “As It Was” hitmaker is vacationing with the duo and a couple of other close friends on a yacht, and they enjoyed some warm weather on the beaches in Anguilla.

On Tuesday (January 2), the Harry was spotted taking a swim while Taylor posed for pics on the beach.

Harry ‘s recently buzzed hair is coming back in nicely , and his tattoos and toned physique are on full display in photos obtained by the Daily Mail .

Taylor looked chic in a white dress while James paired his black swim trunks with a matching polo.

If you were unaware, Harry and James have been close for quite some time now, and this is hardly their first vacation together. In 2020, they enjoyed some time in the Caribbean with Adele and generated multiple headlines .

James opened up about what it was like vacationing with Harry in an interview last year.

Taylor would not be the first of Harry ‘s famous partners that James has hung out with, either. In fact, reports suggested that he actually helped the One Direction singer keep his relationship with Olivia Wilde a secret in a meaningful way.

Hopefully the trio is enjoying their vacation! If nothing else, the water is sure to be a lot warmer than it was when Harry was last seen catching a swim .

Is Taylor Swift's Now That We Don't Talk about Harry Styles? Here's all the lyric references that fan think point to her break up with Harry.

With the release of 1989 (Taylor's Version) and the five brand new vault tracks, Taylor Swift has left fans wondering who they could be about. The general consensus? Harry Styles seems to be the favourite right now, and her 'Now That We Don't Talk' lyrics seem to feed into the theory.

'Now That We Don't Talk' details the break down of a relationship, how Taylor feels now that the two can no longer be friends, and how she now knows nothing about the other person because they are no longer in contact following a break up.

At first glance, fans were quick to assume that the song – based on the title alone – could be about the break down of one of her friendships. Taylor fell out with Katy Perry prior to 1989 , and she also appeared to lose touch with Dianna Agron around that time too. (Her alleged fall out with Karlie Kloss did not happen during the 1989 era, it happened long after.)

However, after listening to the song and the specific lyrical references, fans have now theorised that it could be inspired by her short relationship with Harry Styles.

Who did Taylor Swift write 'Now That We Don't Talk' about?

Is 'Now That We Don't Talk' about Harry Styles?

There's a couple of references within the lyrics that have left fans speculating that Taylor is singing about the aftermath of her relationship with Harry.

The first being the lyric that sees Taylor ask: "Did you get anxious though, on the way home? I guess I'll never ever know, now that we don't talk."

Towards the end of their relationship, Taylor accompanied Harry on a trip to the British Virgin Islands but reportedly left early and alone following an alleged argument that apparently resulted in them breaking up. He stayed, and left after her. (This moment is also referenced in 'Is It Over Now?' , where Taylor sings: "Blue dress / On a boat.")

The next lyric that fans have latched on to is: "You grew your hair long".

Fans have linked this one to the iconic lyric about hair in 'Style', a song that is also widely believed to be about Harry. Shortly after their break up in 2013, Harry grew his hair out and continued to sport the look until he went solo in 2016.

Taylor then mentions that she might be "better off" now that the two no longer talk, because she no longer has to pretend to like things that he likes, singing: "I don't have to pretend I like acid rock / Or that I'd like to be on a mega yacht."

Harry has often taken inspiration from acid rock and psychedelic rock groups and artists in his solo music. And as for the yacht line? Harry does love a yacht moment.

Taylor has not spoken about the specific inspirations behind the song, and it's unlikely that she will ever reveal who it's about. But, if 'Now That We Don't Talk' was inspired by Taylor's break-up with Harry, the good news is: Now they do actually talk.

Years on from their break up, Taylor and Harry appear to be on great terms, having greeted each other warmly at the Grammys back in 2021, and again in 2023. They're both at the top of their game, they're both absolutely killing it... Ya love to see it.

There's A Theory That Taylor Swift's "1989" Vault Tracks And This Harry Styles Song Are 2 Sides Of The Same Breakup

Both Taylor and Harry sing about a guy dating someone who looks like his ex. 👀

Happy 1989 day to those who celebrate! If you've already sunk your hungry teeth into the vault tracks, then you may have noticed that two of the songs — namely "Now That We Don't Talk" and "Is It Over Now?" appear to be about...Mr. Harry Styles .

As you likely well know, Harry and Taylor were largely linked in the bygone year of 2012. As such, some eagle-eyed folks have brought up lyrics from Harry Styles' self-titled debut, released in 2017, that appear to mirror the same relationship that Taylor describes in her new-old tracks.

Of course, 1989 was originally released in 2014 — three years before Harry's tracks — so it's unlikely that Taylor's songs are intentionally referencing Harry's. It would simply be natural for two sides of the same relationship! It's just a bit of fun! Fun! Aren't we having fun?!

That being said, Harry has (seemingly) intentionally referenced Taylor's work on his debut. Observe: "Same lips red, same eyes blue / Same white shirt, couple more tattoos" on "Two Ghosts" next to Taylor's "You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye / And I got that red lip classic thing that you like" on "Style."

Let's start with Taylor's vault track, "Is It Over?" The reference to a "blue dress on a boat" is probably the most damning reference to Harry, as Taylor was pictured looking bereft on a boat in 2013 after they allegedly broke up for good. Oh yeah, she was wearing a blue dress at the time.

But for the purposes of today's class, I'd like to focus on the line "Your new girl is my clone."

The idea of the man in question dating women who look like the narrator is further evoked in the line, "If she's got blue eyes, I will surmise that you'll probably date her."

Harry actually cops to dating someone who looks like his ex in his song "From the Dining Table," where he sings, "Woke up the girl who looked just like you / I almost said your name."

Fun! There are also parallels between the openings of the two songs: Taylor sings, after a reference to a flight, "I slept all alone / You still wouldn't go"...

...While Harry's begins, "Woke up alone in this hotel room / Played with myself, where were you?"

"Now That We Don't Talk" has further references to an ex who "grew [his] hair long" and, as the title suggests, reflects on two people who no longer talk:

Pointedly, she also thanks that she no longer has to pretend that she likes "acid rock" or being on a "mega yacht."

As for "From the Dining Table," Harry also bemoans not being able to talk to an ex anymore after she "went away":

That being said, the two were pictured talking at this year's Grammys. Isn't that nice?

As rumors continue to run rampant that Taylor Swift and Harry Styles have called it quits , shots showing the Red artist sitting by herself on the back of a boat in St. Johns have surfaced.

A source tells E! News that Swift got on with her bodyguards, who were carrying five bags. She apparently looked a bit sad and not very happy.

The photos were taken on Friday, Jan. 4, as Swift was leaving U.S. Customs and heading to the airport to fly back to the United States by herself. The (former?) couple orginally made their way down to the British Virgin Islands after sharing a New Year's Eve kiss in New York City.

Of course, the absence of Styles here certainly seems to support the speculation that he and his ladylove are no more.

Meanwhile, a rep for One Direction has yet to comment on the possible split, and Swift's people have not yet returned a request for comment.

It seems Taylor Swift will soon be penning yet more heartfelt ballads about her lovelife.

The Red singer, 23, has ended her month-long fling with One Direction heart-throb Harry Styles, 18, after an angry row during their New Year's vacation.

A source told MailOnline exclusively: 'Yes I can confirm they have split up.

'They were on holiday and had an almighty row. They are two young stars at the top of their game so who knows what will happen in the future.'

After spending Christmas apart the pair had jetted off to the British Virgin Islands on New Year's Day to spend some time together.

But things did not go to plan and Taylor ended the holiday early, flying back to the U.S. on her own after just three days on vacation on January 4.

Twitter lover Taylor has remained ominously quiet in recent days, with her first message since New Year's being on January 5 when she wrote: '...'til you put me down.'

It wasn't until Monday that Harry returned from his vacation, three days after Taylor made her early exit.

Island breeze and lights down low! Taylor Swift has been known to take romantic getaways with her significant others over the years.

Swift and Joe Alwyn were notoriously private during their six-year relationship — Us Weekly confirmed their split in April 2023 — but when they were spotted getting cozy, it was often on vacation.

In June 2022, Swift and Alwyn were photographed kissing with their arms wrapped around each other while going for a swim in The Bahamas.

Utah With Harry Styles

Let’s travel back in time to December 2012. Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are still together, and they’re taking a ski trip to Park City, Utah, with Styles and Swift. A source told Us at the time that the two duos stayed in separate houses at The Colony but hit the slopes together at Canyons Resort.

Styles shared photos via X at the time that showed him smiling with a bandage on his chin, which some Swifties believe to be the result of a snowmobile accident he got into with Swift.

Swift opened up about getting into a snowmobile crash with an ex — although she didn’t identify Styles by name — during an October 2014 interview with Rolling Stone . She said she was “not as hurt” during the crash as her beau and offered an explanation for why the accident didn’t make headlines at the time.

“You know what I’ve found works even better than an NDA? Looking someone in the eye and saying, ‘Please don’t tell anyone about this,’” she said.

Swift alluded to the incident in the 1989 track “Out of the Woods,” singing, “Remember when you hit the brakes too soon? 20 stitches in a hospital room.”

Shortly after their trip to Utah, Swift and Styles jetted off to Virgin Gorda, the third-largest of the British Virgin Islands, in January 2013. A source told Us at the time that trouble broke out in paradise, leading to the twosome’s split.

“They had a fight,” the insider said, noting that Styles “said something he shouldn’t have” and the romance was “100 percent over.”

A photo from the ill-fated vacation, which showed Swift sitting sadly by herself on a boat, made the rounds online at the time. Swift seemingly nodded to the viral picture — and the snowmobile accident — on the 1989 vault track “Is It Over Now?” which was released in 2023 on 1989 (Taylor’s Version) .

“When you lost control, red blood, white snow / Blue dress on a boat, your new girl is my clone,” she sang.

Swift proved that she no longer had an axe to grind against ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas , whom she dated briefly in 2008, when she enjoyed a boat ride down the River Thames with him in 2015.

Swift shared a photo of the outing via Instagram at the time. She sat with her arms around then-boyfriend Harris while Jonas sat next to then-girlfriend Gigi Hadid . Swift’s then-best friend Karlie Kloss looked happy to be a fifth wheel, smiling with her arms resting on the boat.

Tropical Getaway With Calvin Harris

“That time when we finally took a vacation. @calvinharris,” Swift wrote via Instagram in March 2016 alongside several since-deleted snaps of herself and Harris in an undisclosed tropical location.

In the photos, Swift and the Scottish DJ, who dated from 2015 to 2016, kissed by the ocean, jumped on a giant water trampoline and posed by jet skis.

Rome With Tom Hiddleston

After she split from Harris in June 2016, Swift had a brief whirlwind romance with Hiddleston. Just weeks into her single era, Swift toured the Vatican in Rome with the Loki star. The twosome were seen holding hands and taking pictures of each other as they went sightseeing through the city.

It’s fortunate, then, that a number of the world’s most photographed celebrities–including Jennifer Lawrence , Kendall Jenner , and Zoë Kravitz –have become unofficial poster girls for The Row’s designs. The Olsens might not want to pursue traditional advertising avenues or lower themselves into the TikTok content mill, but when Harry Styles steps out carrying the brand’s Margaux bag –as he did in Paris back in February and once again yesterday afternoon in New York–there is little need. The media value of their clothes being seen on the right person (and landing an article like this one) is perhaps sufficient. It’s about taste, which is, about doing less.

Styles was papped on the steps of a brownstone—spare shoes spilling from his outsized weekender à la Miu Miu’s spring 2024 collection –with his rumored girlfriend Taylor Russell , who was dressed in The Row’s soft leather loafers and bundled in Loewe bags (a Flamenco Clutch and a Puzzle Fold tote bag). The actor is, after all, an ambassador for the Spanish house. An It-couple with their It-bags, it is a photograph seemingly curated–if not destined–to end up on moodboard Instagram accounts like this one : proof, perhaps, that there is often an intense presence to being absent.

Harry Styles Gives His Stamp of Approval to The Row's Viral Margaux Bag, AKA the 'New Birkin'

The Row's viral Margaux bag has Harry Styles ' approval, which means it's about to go more viral than ever.

The "As It Was" singer has been pictured carrying the 15" soft leather bag, designed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen 's brand, on multiple occasions now, signing off on the classic top-handle design and spacious interior.

On Sunday in New York, Styles, 30, stepped out with girlfriend Taylor Russell while carrying the black bag — packed to the top with his stuff. He was also carrying The Row's Slouchy Banana Bag Two ($1,350) and wearing The Row's Dars Cashmere Cardigan ($4,490).

He was previously seen in February carrying the Margaux while traveling to Paris. He also bundled up in a LEMAIRE coat, according to Harry Styles fashion experts, @hstyleslookbook .

The $4,390 Margaux bag is hard to come by since blowing up on social media, but you might have luck if you stop into a boutique and get on a waiting list. It comes in a couple different sizes and materials, but the 15 in soft leather seems to be what people are gravitating toward and calling the "new Hermès Birkin" for its similar shape and size.

Styles was also showing off his latest hairstyle after shaving his head late last year. The singer and actor surprised fans when he debuted a buzz cut in November at a U2 concert in Las Vegas with Russell, 29.

Since then, Styles, who is currently on break since wrapping up his multi-year Love on Tour, has been pictured on only a few occasions, but each time, his hair has been slightly longer — growing back just like one would expect it to .

The Grammy-winning artist attended a soccer match in February with his new short (and much less curly) hair on full display. The 'do featured a neat quiff on top with short sides, slightly reminiscent of some of the hairstyles he rocked back in his younger days. Seems like that hairstyle might be sticking around for the foreseeable future.

Taylor Swift was the talk of the NFL world through most of the 2023 season as she was seen at plenty of Kansas City Chiefs games cheering on Travis Kelce on their way to a Super Bowl victory.

Harrison Butker , who played an integral role in helping the Chiefs win their third Super Bowl since the 2019 season, opened up about meeting Swift and what he hoped for the couple in the future.

"I wouldn’t say I’m a ‘Swiftie’ but I got to meet her after our New Year’s game," Butker said on EWTN News' "In Depth." "We had just clinched the AFC West – and I rarely go out ever. But it’s New Year’s, gotta get the champagne and enjoy the ball dropping and all of that stuff. I went to a party … Travis showed up and Taylor was there and I got to meet her and she was just so humble and so gracious."

Butker said he did not think Swift grew up around football, and Swift expressed her astonishment that he could kick the ball so far. He added that he was a "little nervous" about meeting the pop star.

It is unclear what the future will hold for Kelce and Swift. The two have spent a lot of time together since the 2023 NFL season ended. Kelce was seen in Australia and Singapore to support Swift on the international leg of her " Eras Tour ."

The tight end jetted back to Philadelphia to be there for his brother Jason’s retirement announcement. The two then were at a Cleveland Cavaliers game.
