GEORGIAN BAY BOAT TOURS – HALF-DAY OR FULL-DAY CRUISES

Our typical Georgian Bay Tours, Full-Day cruise, starts at 0900 (9am) and ends 1700 (5pm). You can choose between the ‘All-Inclusive Plan’ or our ‘Skipper Plan’.  Our ‘All-Inclusive Plan’ includes the yacht, Captain and First Mate/Hostess, a gourment lunch, snacks, and non-alcohol beverages. Lunch, snacks and beverages will be prepared and served by the crew along with the clean up.

An alternative to our ‘All-Inclusive Plan’  is our ‘Skipper Plan’, which includes the yacht, Captain and Mate, and guests bring their own lunch, snacks and beverages for themselves and the crew.

If you choose our ‘Skipper Plan’ and bring your own lunch, there is a fridge, freezer, stove top, oven, and BBQ available for lunch preparations. Your crew will assist with meal preparation and clean-up.

Half-Day cruise rates are quoted on an individual basis.  Typically, Half-Day Cruises run from 0900 (9am) to 1300 (1pm) or from 1300 (1pm) to 1700 (5pm).  In keeping with our flexible cruise programs, four hour Half-Day Cruises can start and end at different times as preferred by our guests.

Note: The ‘Bareboat Plan’ is not offered for a Half-Day or Full-Day Cruise.

Best Bareboat Charter in Beautiful South Georgian Bay!

We chartered the sailboat Lark for a week long family bareboat cruise. She is a 34 ft Hunter, exceptionally well maintained and thoughtfully equipped by Captain Bill and Linda with everything you could need on board in the galley and beyond. Covid safety protocols were also practiced. The orientation briefing was thorough and their firsthand knowledge and suggestions for the area were invaluable. Captain Bill was also readily available for questions that popped up throughout the cruise. The anchorages were spectacular! We still can't get over the picturesque settings and crystal clear water. We'll be back!

The Lark is a 34 foot Hunter. It was in excellent working order. The orientation to the boat was very thorough. Bill was extremely helpful in deciding on anchorages and I checked in with him frequently during the cruise just to get other ideas that he might have in an area that I have not sailed in before. And he was consistently helpful. The area of the southern Georgian Bay has a lot of interesting bays and open water as well. We had a fabulously sailing week and I highly recommend.

My wife and I had not been sailing in over 25 years, oh to be young again. We had not been on vacation together for a very long time due to business and family commitments. We finally bit the bullet and decided to go on vacation together. Ahhh, but where to go, because due to the nature of our business we couldn't go far, our daughter was going to look after things for us (sound of biting finger nails). We decided that we really enjoyed the last time we sailed the North Channel, but it was too long a drive back. So my wife found Cosmos Yacht Charters in Midland and we decided to book a week on the Captains Bill's boat and have Captain Bill come along as skipper, truth be told we needed him as it had been too long to feel comfortable sailing by ourselves. Our booking straddled the end of September and the beginning of October 2017 and overall the weather was very good. Sailing was great. Captain Bill was great and yes Captain Bill I'm still looking for independent pictures of the surface of the moon showing the moon landings, you might be right. My wife and I had such a good time that we are now looking at purchasing a sailboat of our own. My son and I chartered a sailboat for the Aug 1 2017 weekend with Captain Bill . The weather was not the best but the weekend was. The motor sail and sailing was fantastic thanks to Bill the food was as good as any 5 star restaurant. there were 4 other people on the boat as well that we were meeting for the first time. We all got along famously. there was lots of room and the sleeping was very comfortable. I would recommend this charter to anyone and can not wait to go again.

Georgian Bay Ontario is a huge, freshwater bay on the east side of lake Huron. About 80% the size of Lake Ontario, Georgian Bay is a magnet for sailors. Breathtaking scenery, countless islands to explore, hidden anchorages and small villages make this a delight for cruising sailors.

Here are some facts about beautiful Georgian Bay Ontario (distances are approximate due to the nature of the coastline):

• length: 199mi / 320km
• width: 50mi / 80km
• deepest: 450ft / 137m
• surface: 5,792sq mi / 15,000sq km
• coastline: 1,243mi / 2,000km
• islands: 30,000+

This part of Ontario is the traditional home of the Anishinabe people – Ojibwe, Odawa (Ottawa) and Algonquin. The Huron or Wendat peoples lived on the southern side of Georgian Bay so it undoubtedly was a major trading route before contact with Europeans. The first European in the area was in all likelihood Etienne Brule, the youthful interpreter for Samuel de Champlain and great explorer. (Brule was probably the first European to ever lay eyes on lakes Ontario, Erie, Huron and Superior.)

Georgian Bay was first charted in 1815 and given the initial name of Lake Manitoulin. The British Admiralty surveyor, Lt. Henry Bayfield (later Admiral Bayfield) renamed it in 1822 after King George IV. (Bayfield, ON and Bayfield, WI, are named after Bayfield.)

Increasing incursions by Europeans brought disease and conflict and over some 200 years, the native presence faded. During the War of 1812, the British navy build a naval base near Penetanguishene. With the extension of the railroad to the port town of Collingwood, an influx of tourists began that continues to this day.

At the northwest corner of Georgian Bay lies Manitoulin Island, the largest freshwater island in the world. This hidden gem offers a spectacular, untouched landscape, over 100 small, pristine lakes and superb fishing for the angler.

Georgian Bay lies completely within the province of Ontario. Its coastline is very rugged, especially the further north you go. Entry into Georgian Bay is through the Main Channel, between the tip of the Bruce Peninsula on the south and Manitoulin Island to the north. The Bay is studded with thousand of small islands, most to be found along the eastern coastline. The population is noticeably thinner, the landscape much more rugged and the scenery increasingly more stunning. Small towns and communities replace large cities. A resource-based economy, centred on forestry and mining as well as tourism, edges out farming and manufacturing.

Beauty off the beaten track

My wife and I own a Mirage 29 sailboat and have been sailing on Lake Ontario for 20 years. It was time for a change of cruising ground, and we were looking for a spot on Georgian Bay that would get us to the North Channel within a day but still minimize our driving time from Southern Ontario. Our search lead us to Britt, which is situated on the North shore of Byng Inlet midway between Parry Sound and Killarney . Our new home port is at Wright’s Marina , a full service, family run facility where we have met many new boating friends.

This is an ideal location, with access to both Georgian Bay and the Small Craft Channel that meanders through and around the Thirty Thousand Islands . It's a gorgeous corner of Georgian Bay, with pink granite and wind swept pines that gave inspiration to the Group of Seven artists. The small craft channel allows boaters to still move south to Parry Sound, or northwest to Killarney even if the winds have kicked up the Bay.

If you have good navigation and piloting skills, and are brave enough to venture off the well-marked small craft channel to explore the many bays and inlets, you'll be rewarded with hundreds of well-protected, secluded wilderness anchorages. Your neighbors will be wild. Moose, deer, bears, mink, martin, fisher, and many other species of animals and birds also make these islands and bays their home. Oh, and a few snakes.

If you like Mother Nature, you could cruise this corner of Georgian Bay for a lifetime and never tire of its beauty.

Jeff Froud and his family live on the shore of Lake Nipissing, on the property where his parents built the original family cottage in 1957. Ontario is classified as having the best smallmouth bass fishing worldwide. Georgian Bay and the 30,000 Islands around the Parry Sound area are a top location with plenty of great opportunities for catching trophy smallmouth bass. We regularly catch bass in the 4-6 lb range, with the possibility of fish tipping 7 lbs.

The scenery is as spectacular as the famous paintings from the “Group of Seven”. With super-clear waters, we fish around remote islands and shoals away from the traffic of other boats. Many of the areas we fish are virtually uncharted and pristine. If you are looking to experience the beauty of the 30,000 islands, these charter trips are perfect for you.

We stalk and hunt fish on rock piles and shoals that are targeted using the most advanced techniques and baits such as hair jigs, drop shots, swim baits, tube jigs, ned rigs, senko’s, jerk baits, topwater baits, flies, and various other techniques.

Regardless of your level of experience, we can accommodate and teach you how to catch these beautiful fish. These are bucket-list fishing charters for many experienced fishermen around the globe!

A deposit of $250 is required.

Cancellation up to 30 days in advance (Guest will forfeit the deposit if a trip is cancelled within less than 30 days in advance).

No shows will be charged with the full price of the scheduled trip to the credit card used for the deposit.

If extenuating circumstances arise, please contact us right away and we will try our best to reschedule your trip for a time that will be both convenient and productive.

The captain holds the right to cancel at any time with regard to emergency and safety (vessel condition, weather, etc.).

Deposit will be fully refunded if the captain is forced to cancel.

If charter has begun, the final balance will be prorated by the captain, depending on the circumstances.

Hooked Up with Terhart offers multi-species fishing charters depending on seasonality and weather. The 30,000 islands and the Parry Sound area are host to a broad variety of beautiful fish species. In fact, many world freshwater records come from Ontario, and in particular from Georgian Bay and the Parry Sound area.

We usually fish for smallmouth bass, walleye, and pike during a charter trip, depending on the season and weather. Various fishing techniques are applied according to the species.

It is common to catch trophy smallmouth and target trophy walleyes as massive northern pike within the same day. We customize the species based on seasonality and weather. Multi-species trips will be discussed at the time of booking a fishing charter to understand the patterns and fish available at that time of year.

TROPHY SMALLMOUTH BASS – DINNER AT HENRY’S – SUNSET SALMON

We meet at the docks of Parry Sound early in the morning and take an approximate 45-minute boat ride (30–40 km), just enjoying the beautiful scenery. Once arrived at the best spot, we fish for trophy smallmouth bass for approximately 5 hours, followed by a spectacular early dinner at the world-famous Henry’s restaurant, located on the only island with water access, Sans Souci, on Frying Pan Island. To close this extraordinary day trip, we fish for salmon for 4-5 hours and end our day with an incredible Georgian Bay sunset.

This is an epic, must-do bucket list fishing charter trip if you really want the grand experience of the famous 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay!

Straight Up Salmon Fishing Charters

6 HOUR MORNING OR AFTERNOON TRIP

Screaming drags and long runs – these “chrome chinook bullets” are spectacular fighters! We typically use controlled depth trolling and downrigging techniques with the most advanced tools available. Trolling can accommodate all skill levels of anglers.

The deep cold clean waters of Georgian Bay make chinook salmon a highly prized fish for keeping.  The typical size ranges from 2-15lbs with fish regularly exceeding 20lbs possible.

Half day trip (6 hours) = $850

In the morning from 6-12 a.m.

In the afternoon from 4-10 p.m.

Lake & Rainbow Trout

THESE TRIPS ARE PERFECTLY MADE FOR MORNINGS OR AFTERNOONS ON WATER

We stay close to Parry Sound fishing the Big Sound with depths of over 350Ft, which has a healthy population of lake and rainbow trout. The scenery is just spectacular. We commonly pass by the famous “Hole in the Wall” approximately 4km from Killbear Provincial Park which is a narrow passageway between Huckleberry and Wall Island. The cliffs reach about 24meters in height and are lined with wind swept pine and cedar trees.

Techniques applied: Trolling – Jigging – Casting

4 hours = $500

5 hours =  $625

6 hours = $750

Action On Ice

ONE ON ONE – RUN AND GUN – ICE FISHING ADVENTURE

via Portable Insulated Hut & Snowmobile

A truly unique experience in the stunning frozen landscape of Georgian Bay that you will never forget. Together we will find the best spots to drill our holes to fish for lake trout and walleye. Therefore, we use live bait and Jigging techniques, covering ice while staying warm in our portable Eskimo hut.
