Britican56' Oyster 2003
Owners comments
"In 2014 an opportunity came up for us to leave land life. We were tired of the rat race and feeling unfulfilled. We sold our house and possessions and purchased our Oyster 56’. With our three-1/2-yearold daughter, we embarked on an adventure of a lifetime.
After circumnavigating the Mediterranean, crossing the Atlantic Ocean with ARC, and spending years in the Caribbean and the east coast of America, we’ve enjoyed over 45,000 miles of making magical memories.
BritIcan has been more than a home for us. She has been a family member. She has shared our memories of love and laughter. She has protected us during bad weather.
In return, we’ve tended to her every need. We took care of Britican, and she indeed took care of us. Our lives went from stress, monotony, and mediocrity to freedom, adventure, and fulfillment. Many people asked us where our favorite spot was.
Interestingly, it’s not an anchorage or a destination that made our travels incredible. It was the people we met along the way. The sailing cruising life is not always easy, but it’s a way to live that makes life worth living.
Last year our daughter expressed an interest in going to school on land. Around the same time, it became clear that our parents required assistance with various medical complications. At first, it hit us like a ton of bricks. Both Simon and I thought we’d sail forever!
There’s a time for everything; we’re so grateful we took the risk and lived our dream. We couldn’t have had a better boat or a more fulfilling journey. We hope that a couple or family will be able to enjoy Britican as much as we have."

BRITICAN Yacht for Sale

Sailing Experiences Feedback
“Want to thank you folks once again for a fabulous Britican Experience. I feel I learned more from my Britican Experience than I did from the ASA sailing courses I took in the same one week's time. It's all about hands-on. You folks answered all my questions and presented the realities of cruising very nicely. Quality Boat + Quality Instruction ='s a Quality experience, the Britican Experience! None compare. Looking forward to my next Britican Experience.” Jim Hughes - Click for more info on our Britican Experience .
"Experience is an understatement. We need to invent a new word! I had an incredible journey, infused with learning opportunities, meeting wonderful people, and being immersed in a wonderful TEAM of sailors. THANKS Britican for a life-enhancing adventure." Sailing Guides & Sailing Resources Feedback
VHF Radio Checklists & Templates "As a first time sailboat owner, I found the book extremely informative. With proper instruction of VHF procedures, I can now feel confident that I can communicate properly in times of need. The templates are helpful and will be installed on board." Robert Green
Checklist For Sailors "As a new boat-owner, I was about to start writing my own checklists and came across this book, which seems to cover pretty much everything. Plus it comes with the added bonus of access to an editable version, so you can customise your lists. It will save me a heap of time!" Jan Reading
Sailboat Buying Guide For Cruisers "This book gives the reader a forrest view of the steps and considerations when buying a boat. Starting with exploring the reason you want the boat (what experience, adventure, or lifestyle are you hoping to get?), it walks the reader through all the relevant issues and options. Nothing revolutionary in this book, but a good set of checklists for every stage of acquiring a sailboat." Reiff Lorenz

Sailing Britican: What Boat Does This Family Sail? (2023)
Everything you always wanted to know.
Joshua Smith
Founder and Editor at Cruising Freedom
This is the definitive guide on Sailing Britican for 2023.
Over the last several years, I have spent many hours watching and researching everything I could about Sailing Britican to learn more about their story.
(Yes, I really am *that* obsessed with this very helpful cruising family 😃)
If you wanted to know:
➜ How Sailing Britican afforded their boat
➜ How they make their money today
➜ What boat do they have and its upgrades
➜ How old they are and their names
➜ Resources they use for homeschooling
Then you’ve definitely come to the right place.
Before we start, a quick introduction from me…
The Cruising Freedom Author
Ahoy, Matey! I’m Joshua from Australia.
I’ve built the perfect business to sail the world.
A business model which can allow me to:
➜ Own a catamaran debt-free
➜ Go for weeks without WIFI
➜ Create semi-passive income
➜ Inspire others to dream big
But more on that later… 🙂
Sailing Britican FAQs (January 2023)
S/V Britican
The name comes from British + American, given that the family is a split nationality.
Crew Members
Simon Brown (age 66)
Kim Brown (age 48)
Their daughter is Sienna Maddison Brown who is now 12 years old. Despite being the only child on board, they do try to find other kid-boats out there in anchorages.
Sailing Britican has a 2003 Oyster 56. This is a legendary yacht designed for bluewater cruising.
Previously it was called S/V Pearl Fisher.
They have upgraded most of the electronics.
They are currently in St Martin.
This is one of their most recent videos:
Past Cruising
In the past, they have been sailing around the Caribbean
Affording It
Simon and Kim are entrepreneurs at heart, having built online businesses and had careers in the technology world.
This helped them save up enough to purchase their yacht for cash after much searching.
Sailing Britican has a net worth of $570,000.
Making Loot
Sailing Britican might have a smaller subscriber count on YouTube, but they are one of the most informative channels around, with a very in-depth blog ( https://sailingbritican.com ) to help newcomers.
I highly recommend you check them out!
On YouTube alone, they treat their channel like a business rather than a hobby and make around $5,500/month through:
➜ Many great recommendations of sailing gear to Amazon
➜ Allowing ads to run on their YouTube videos
➜ Selling their own merchandise
➜ Running a Patreon account
They definitely deserve recognition for optimizing their channel properly, and many other channels could learn a thing or two!
Kimberly actually wrote a PDF book about this and created a video which is super helpful:
I can see that they are true digital nomads in that sense.
It’s also clear that they want to serve their audience with knowledge about sailing and working remotely, rather than the bikini lifestyle that you often see on other cruising vlogs.
Collaborations
Apart from friends and family who have been featured onboard, they haven’t been sailing with any other popular YouTubers at this time.
Big Moments
During their 7 years on YouTube:
➜ They survived Hurricane Irma
➜ Avoided numerous potential disasters
➜ Lost a significant family member onshore
They are definitely more conservative as a cruising family and haven’t experienced too many incidents.
Future Plans
They have just returned to the United States and may wait until Sienna is an adult before heading westwards towards the South Pacific, and then to Australia.
Key Takeaways
What can we learn?
➜ Sailing as a family is a beautiful experience
➜ Working online is now easier than ever before
➜ Be willing to deal with the challenges that come
➜ Your freedom might be closer than you think
And of course, find the right boat for your dreams!
I have learned a ton from watching Sailing Britican on YouTube. They’re knowledgeable and don’t use click-baitey content in the form of bikinis.
I’ve always come away feeling better and wiser through their content, and hope they’ll be publishing for years to come.
Create Your Own Cruising Freedom
Hey! 😃 it’s Joshua again…
I’ve been very inspired by Sailing Britican and their travels…
Some say I’m obsessed, but sailing the world is my childhood dream.
They’re living the dream, but that dream isn’t actually that far away.
I mentioned earlier about discovering the #1 cruising business model.
With this exciting opportunity, I’ll be able to:
➜ Generate a sustainable full-time income through learning basic skills
➜ Fund the purchase of my first sailing catamaran without any loans
➜ Do it without selling to friends and family (I found a better solution!)
➜ Share my lifetime passion for sailing, cruising and global adventures
Keen to discover more? Jump on the free training right now. 👨🏻💻

Specification
What we say, broker's comments, price just reduced.
Quintessentially Oyster, and one of our most successful models built, the 56 is a fantastic ocean cruiser, compact and agile to be easily handled by two, whilst also being versatile enough to accommodate a host of guests, and even crew, in comfort with ease.
Piperita, built in 2000, is a family-owned yacht that has been handed down through the generations from father to son. Lightly used, never chartered, and never having crossed the Atlantic, Piperita has very low hours to the engine and generator. With a specification perfectly equipped for short-handed sailing and effortless onboard handling, Piperita is easy in and out of port. Featuring an electric passerelle, remote windlass control, davits, outboard crane, bow thruster, new domestic batteries, and a great solar setup to name a few, she has a number of unique features that make her an attractive bluewater cruiser.
Below deck, typical of all Oyster’s, Piperita has an abundance of space, both functional and practical to fulfil a multitude of uses. With seven berths in four cabins, the forth converting conveniently to a workshop, Piperita is classically presented in teak, with warming light blue upholstery throughout. A home from home experience with the benefits of being able to change the scenery, Piperita is a great yacht for all uses.
Recently benefitting from out of the water works including underwater hull blasting and re-antifouling, all seacocks and anodes replaced, plus works to the engine, she is in the process of being upgraded.
Lying in Trapani, Sicily, and just a short sail from the stunning Egadi and Aeolian Islands, Piperita is in a fantastic location. Early viewing recommended.
