• Impressions

The 160-metre yacht BLUE has been given a contemporary exterior and a traditional, fresh interior design, both by Terence Disdale Design. Efficiency and the desire to be as environmentally friendly as possible were key drivers for the technology on board. BLUE is equipped with a highly efficient Diesel-Electric Hybrid Propulsion Concept developed by Lürssen’s own engineering specialists. The yacht also has an electric Azimuth Pod Drive, which in electric mode can be used separately, or when the PTI units are engaged, with the two propeller shafts. In order to generate less noise and vibration and reduce nitrogen oxide levels, BLUE is completed with a state-of-the-art exhaust after-treatment system. Furthermore, the wastewater treatment plant is equipped with new membrane technology that allows the treated wastewater to be safely disposed of in ‘drinking water quality’.

Perfecting the long-distance trawler yacht since 1977, why a kadey-krogen built trawler is the best bluewater yacht.

At Kadey-Krogen Yachts we’ve focused on one thing for more than 45 years, and we believe we do that very well: We design and build bluewater yachts designed to take their owners on an adventure of a lifetime. And that’s it. When a builder has such a dedicated focus and does not waste time, effort and resources chasing often fleeting trends, they get exceptionally good at doing that one thing. 

Kadey-Krogen pioneered the long-distance trawler in 1977 with the introduction of the venerable 42 and every boat launched since then represents a culmination of expertise and a perpetual quest for perfection for our singular objective. We also concentrate these efforts on the owner operator market where a cruising couple or family can safely and easily operate a Krogen. This is why we focus on the 44- to 70-foot range. Could we build a 100-footer? Sure we could. However, there are exponentially more elements in the 80-foot plus range that we believe distract from the focus of building the best bluewater trawler yacht in our niche. Some builders rationalize their focus on building a wide array of models in the larger size range by stating that the lessons learned on building bigger models will trickle down the line to other models. We respectfully disagree with this premise. Each and every Krogen model from 44 to 70 feet is designed to efficiently go through the water in all conditions and keep the owners safe and comfortable whether on a passage or on the hook, regardless of the LOA. You awake in one of two master suites, one on the upper deck with 180 degree views forward and the other on the main deck. Head for the upper deck aft for a delicious breakfast before settling in the sun lounge aft to discuss the day's plans with the captain. If the morning heat is too intense, start the day in the air conditioned main saloon at the formal dining table and make plans in the lounge opposite.

After breakfast, the children race eagerly down to the portside swim platform where the deck crew has prepared all the watertoys for a morning adrenaline rush. Other guests may choose to work out in the gym, or for an easier start to the day, head for the sauna and hammam where there is a massage table too.

In the afternoon, while the captain sails you to the next amazing destination, enjoy a movie in the main deck cinema lounge or catch up on some emails in the private owner's office on the bridge deck.

As dusk falls in your new anchorage, take in the spectacular sunset with a sundowner in the foredeck lounge and toast another amazing day before sampling the chef's gastronomic extravaganza on the upper deck aft.

You can't always guarantee there will be dolphins at all, so we were okay with that, even though we would have liked to see more, of course. That is not in their control. But the boat ride, in itself, was worth the price, in my opinion. I took my 8-year-old grandson, as a birthday present for him, and he was thrilled. We got literally soaked by the sea spray, because it was windy, so be prepared for that possibility. It was a nice day on the water, and Captain Pat and his first mate, Doug, kept the narrative lively and played music as well. All in all, a good trip for the price and we highly recommend. The buffet had options for all to eat plenty and we had some very picky eaters. Had to mix the drinks because, at first, we thought it was all alcohol. Bartender poured the hefty shot right on top the punch. We were not complaining. lol After eating, we went to the top deck and danced a little. Then to our amazement we saw the most dolphins I have ever seen. There were 2-3 pods of 5-6 dolphins. It was an absolutely beautiful experience. Danced and drank some more on the way back to the harbor. Everyone was fun and friendly. Staff was wonderful as well. Thank you for a great time! But after the second one I come realize it wasn’t lol. It was just the bartender knows how to mix. I had a great time and met some really amazing people. The boat was very worn and dark inside. The patrons despite a "dress code" mentioned on the website were dressed with beach bar type clothes. The music was mostly disco type dance music so loud you could not carry on a conversation even 1 deck above the DJ. There was no break in the music even during dinner. No complaints with the bar that was open throughout. One major warning, however - unlike a Sunset Cruise we had a few days earlier, these guys wait for nobody. We were totally unprepared for the traffic on the causeway which turned a 15 minute trip from our condo into 50. We arrived just a few minutes before departure. Parking in the lot provided for the marina was nonexistent. A Calypso Queen staff member told us to find a hotel lot or park .behind Walgreens. We got our tickets, told people we would hurry back - please don't go without us - then managed to find a spot behind Walgreens for $45. We raced back to the boat. Boarding was over; the ropes were up, but one very kind person who recognized us got us on just as the boat was leaving. But despite taking our $90, they would certainly have happily gone without us. Yacht MARINA

 The cutting edge Siam Royal View Yacht Marina provides berths for up to 75 boats with floating piers. It offers thoroughly modern facilities for both sailing craft and motor boats, and all berths are equipped with electricity and fresh water supply.

The Marina is up the river mouth and well sheltered from the open sea, wind and waves.

A paradise haven for yacht owners, the marina opens up one of the most stunning sailing areas in the world.

The region’s crystal clear seas are generously dotted with richly forested tropical islands with pristine, picture perfect beaches. It is an area that begs to be explored by modern day seagoing adventurers, but prior to the completion of the Siam Royal View Marina on Koh Chang, the lack of high-end marina facilities has always proved to be a big disincentive for many adventurous yacht owners.

HOW TO ENTER THE MARINA

To access the Marina, start at the outer sea marker and follow the buoys, keeping the green buoys on the starboard side (on your right) and the red buoys on the port side (to your left).   On the way out, the opposite applies. The inner sea marker is at the start of the river. 

The picture on the left shows the approximate approach route from the outer marker to the inner marker, into the river, up the river until the Marina entrance. 

Along the access route there are sand banks that may move from time to time through storms, river currents and tides. 

Before entering the marina, please check the tides table. 

If it’s your first time, please call or email us to make sure that you will be safe. We can also provide you with a lot service, or pick you up from your anchoring place in the bay. 

The Marina’s wet dock is several hundred meters up the navigable river, and surrounded by mountains, thus perfectly protected from waves and winds.  

The wet dock is also subject to tides, and thus equipped with massive floating docks of various sizes ensuring that all vessels can be moored safely. Every berth is equipped with electricity and water.  

The wet dock is located right adjacent to the Yacht Club Restaurant and the Marina Sands Resort, which can provide rooms, showers, fitness facilities, Food & Beverage catering and land transportation.

The Marina also features a Dry Dock with boat service and maintenance facilities, which are mainly interesting for resident sailors that keep their vessel permanently at the Marina. 

However, in case of any issue, the Marina service team is ready to assist the visiting sailor. 

Boats up to a size of approx. 40 feet can be taken out of the water through the slip with a tractor.  

The Marina offers boat shelters of various types and sizes both for sale and for rent.
