The Anatomy of a Yacht | Superyacht Terminology

Whether cruising with family and friends or enjoying an adventurous sailing trip, yachts can offer everything you need for the perfect holiday. Before stepping board, it can be useful to familarise yourself with the parts of a yacht to understand the language and terminology used by the crew onboard, and to appreciate how these impressive vessels work. From the keel to the sails, it's important to understand the anatomy of any vessel before setting out on a chartering journey.

The Parts of a Yacht - An Overview

Understanding the parts of a yacht not only improves your sailing experience but will also increase your appreciation of these powerful vessels. A standard yacht has several key parts, including a stern, hull, and bow. The stern, or aft, refers to the back the yacht, sometimes accompanied by a swim platform. On the other end of the vessel, the bow refers to the front of the yacht. The part of the yacht that floats in the water is referred to as the hull. Most traditional yachts have one hull, however catamarans are typically ‘multi-hull' having two points of contact with the sea.

Yacht anatomy

Mischief superyacht was designed with an iconic French navy hull and white boot stipe.

Hulls – Materials and Design

As hulls are one of the largest components of a yacht, it is important that the design is intentional to withstand the elements on the ocean. The material that is it constructed of varies depending on the vessels size and intended use; it is common to see hulls made from wood, steel, or composite materials. Hulls play a crucial role is ensuring stability on board and a smooth journey as conditions on the ocean can vary.

Bridge & Bridge Deck

Port side & starboard side.

These terms refer to the left and right sides of a yacht; Port side refers to the left side, while starboard side is the right. A helpful tip is to remember the saying “there is a little bit of port left in the bottle.” This terminology is often used by crew in order to effectively communicate with their team in order to avoid accidents and safely navigate the seas, so you will likely hear these terms onboard your stay.

Yacht Main Salon and Swim Platform

There is plenty of fun to be had in these two areas of a yacht. The main salon refers to the main living room onboard and is a space where yacht designers can showcase their personality in the design. Often featuring plush seating, stylish decor and high-end entertaining systems, guests can comfortably enjoy downtime relaxing and socialising in this area. The swim platform is exactly what it sounds like; it offers a convenient way to jump in to cool off and enjoy the water. When you feel it’s time to take a dip, the swim platform is the perfect spot to soak up the sun, enjoy the available watertoys , dip your feet in the ocean, or take a refreshing dive or snorkel in the sea.

All of these elements are thoughtfully designed by experts across the world to construct the magnificent yachts that we know and love. We encourage you to experience our favourite vessels for yourself through luxury yacht hire to appreciate the impressive design and craftsmanship. Our team is here to help you plan your dream holiday on board today.

The  Below Deck Sailing Yacht   cast is reuniting (virtually) to dish on the tumultuous latest season with Andy Cohen on  Watch What Happens Live .

Bravo announced the two-part reunion kicks off Monday, July 17 at 9:08 p.m. ET/PT following the season 2 premiere of  Below Deck Down Under . Part 2 of the reunion airs the following day on Tuesday, July 18 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

In a minute-long promo, the reunion promises "shocking new revelations," and explores the messy love triangle between chief stewardess Daisy Kelliher, chief engineer Colin MacRae and first mate Gary King continues to be front and center.

At one point in the teaser, Colin appears to make Daisy cry when he addresses their relationship, calling it "toxic." "You can't reason with this woman," he says.

Earlier, Daisy maintained that she is able to "take criticism," but Cohen had a difficult time believing it, questioning her statement by asking, "Really?"

The two-part reunion also promises clear up what was going on with Gary and 3rd stewardess Mads Herrera's relationship amid his continued flirtation with Daisy.

"It was strange," Gary said in the teaser, likely in reference to the 3rd stewardess. "Because she would come and climb into my bed every night and try to have sex with me."

Plus, Colin hints there's information "nobody knows" -- not even the audience. What could it be? Watch the reunion teaser below.

Also taking part in the reunion are Captain Glenn Shephard, chef Ileisha Dell, 2nd stewardess Lucy Edmunds, deckhand Chase Lemacks and deckhand Alex Propson.

Ahead of season 4, ET spoke with Daisy about Gary's jealousy. "He had two seasons to try and pursue me, he chose not to," she said in April. "If I'm dating you for three years and you cheat on me, yeah, I’m gonna go sleep with your best friend or your brother, probably. Like, I've done it in the past, I'm probably gonna do it again. But me and Gary were never anything, you know? I'm not quite sure what he thought that I was trying to gain from that. We were never in a relationship."

"I felt like there was a bit of an ego, you know? His ego was hurt," Daisy added. "I think that was more of it than he actually wanted to be with me. But yeah, it was kind of surprising to hear. It was weird when I was like, 'You had two years to tell me you liked me, and now you're choosing to tell me?'"

‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Reunion Part 2: Gary Apologizes To Mads Over ‘Uncalled For’ Period Comment

In the wake of Gary coming under fire for questioning Mads about her period, Gary addressed the drama and apologized to Mads for what he said to her in the second episode of the 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' reunion.

Gary Mads

There was no way Gary King wasn’t going to get asked about THAT comment during Part 2 of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 reunion. In the July 18 episode, Andy Cohen brought up Gary confronting Mads Herrera about supposedly being on her period when he “went down” on her. Gary dropped out of his computer camera’s view for a moment before returning to apologize.

Gary King

“Andy, Mads, I have to apologize, and I’ll apologize to you here in front of everyone. That was very uncalled for,” Gary told Mads. “You didn’t deserve that. No one deserves that. I’m really sorry. And I don’t actually want to answer anything about that, Andy, because that was probably one of the lowest points in the season I would say. That was quite rough. and no one deserves that. Sorry, Mads.”

Andy then asked Mads if she accepted Gary’s apology. “Yep,” she quickly said. The host continued to press Mads and asked if she was completely over Gary after he made that comment. “Yes. At that point, it’s also so late in the season,” Mads continued. “We’re all so exhausted and done. I think you see me say like, I hate everyone. I was so ready to leave and that was like the cherry on top. It was done.”

Daisy Kelliher chimed in and admitted she was “horrified” over what Gary said to Mads. She ended up screaming at him. “I was disgusted. Nobody should speak about another person in that manner in any way,” Daisy said during the reunion.

Mads Herrera

Mads noted that she was only doing so well in the moment because Lucy was “there right from the jump” and “killed the tension.” She added, “I was also very shocked.”

This all started because of something Alex Propson told Gary. Alex brought up walking in on Gary going down on Mads and said he was surprised because Mads told him that she was on her period. (She was joking about it all along, by the way.) A fuming Gary rushed to confront Mads and unfairly chastised her in front of Lucy Edmunds and the cameras for not having the “common decency” to tell him not go to down on her. “Uncalled for” doesn’t even begin to describe what Gary did. Thankfully, Andy addressed the shocking situation with Gary and Mads.

After a spring season of yachting fun (which was actually filmed in August 2020 ), steamy hookups, and bitter feuds, Below Deck Sailing Yacht   is reaching its final docking point. The show aired its first reunion episode last night (June 21), gossiping about all of the drama with Bravo host Andy Cohen . And that sea voyage isn’t done quite yet: there’s a whole new reunion set to air tonight, too. Grab your life preserver and brace for motion sickness — things might get a little bumpy for the Below Deck Sailing Yacht  Season 2 crew.

The first reunion episode dealt with star Dani Soares ‘s new baby, who was rumored to be the child of co-star Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux . Soares shared that she “thinks it’s not his child, and he doesn’t want to have anything to do with it.” Cerza-Lanaux did not take part in the group reunion last night, but he did sit down for a solo chat with Cohen to clear the air. Clashing with Soares, Cerza-Lanaux said that he would take place in raising the child if it was his — though he also shared that he thought she was “chasing 15 minutes of fame.” Woof! In case you were wondering whether Dani and Jean-Luc are still together , that probably put a nail in that coffin.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2: The Yacht Location Guide, Loot Locations, Where To Drop

Ever wanted your very own super-yacht? Well, this isn't quite the same, but you could certainly do worse than landing on The Yacht to start your Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 career. But where is best to land, and where is the best loot? We've got you covered.

26 Feb 2020 10:53 AM +00:00

part 2 the yacht

Fornite Chapter 2 Season 2 offers a host of exciting changes to the map we all knew and loved throughout Season 1, including a super-yacht that has sailed into the north-east corner of the map.

The Yacht includes a whole host of loot, plenty of secret passages, and a giant golden statue of the elusive Midas. Nothing says humble like a giant golden statue of yourself, right?

If you're planning on dropping to The Yacht, head to the north of Steamy Stacks, but be sure not to miss and end up stranded in the ocean.

From there, follow our tips to make the most of your time at sea, and emerge ready and equipped to deal with the battle ahead.

Be sure to watch our wide variety of Fortnite content here!

Best Landing Spots

You can land pretty much anywhere you want on The Yacht, but some areas are much better than others.

We'd suggest landing on the back of the boat, but on the very top can work as well.

The front of the boat (with the large H Helipad) doesn't offer much loot and has plenty of NPC Henchmen patrolling.

Your main aim is to get to the vault in the basement of The Yacht, via the NPC boss Meowscles to grab the key card which will grant you access.

Meowscles patrols the main room at the centre of the boat, and your best chance of access is from the rear, as you can take cover under the stairway so other guards don't see you.

The alternative is disguising yourself in the telephone box at the front of the boat so you can walk in uninterrupted by NPCs - but this takes a long time while rival players are busy looting.

Read more: Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2: Slurpy Swamp Guide - Where To Drop, Best Loot Spots, Tips And Tricks

Loot Locations

As always, head straight for the vault when you arrive on The Yacht. Grab the keycard from Meowscles, beat the Henchmen, and get your goodies.

Meowscles' signature Legendary AK isn't really that good, so don't bother picking that up.

Watch out for players camping the vault, but the Supply Caches inside should sort you out with a full complement of loot.

Then take the Porta-Potty out of there, and find the three chests in the storage containers at the other end.

This puts you out on the mainland, ready to head towards the centre and the bigger fights.

Read more: Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2: Release Date, Map, Battle Pass Price, Skins, Trailer And More

Finding Cover

The Yacht is a surprisingly open area, especially on the front deck and in the main room.

After killing Meowscles, try to stick to the higher ground or the basement areas to avoid getting shot.

There are a lot of NPC Henchmen in this small area, so be careful even when landing alone, or take cover in the smaller rooms beside the big room - the ones with the cat flaps that you have to crawl through.

These are great places to top up your shields, as you'll see and hear enemies coming.

Read more: Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 Deadpool Hideout: How To Unlock New Deadpool Character and Complete His Challenges

Best Weapons

While you may prefer a shotgun below decks, Assault Rifles remain the best choice on top.

There are some longer-ranged areas, and you may need to take out Meowscles from a distance to avoid being taken out by massed Henchmen.

The Assault Rifles will come in handy once you go through the Porta-Potty and end up on the mainland.

You'll find yourself pretty open, and aside from campers at the exit, so the range will come in handy.

Pros And Cons

The Yacht is a little bit loot lite, and quite far from anywhere else on the map. If it's near the Battle Bus path, it'll likely be busy with everyone after the sweet vault loot, but if it's too far then your time could be better spent elsewhere.

If you're headed to Steamy Stacks and it seems a bit busy, The Yacht may be a good second choice, but other areas seem to offer better rewards this season.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Reunion, Part 2 Recap: Colin and Daisy Tell All

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

Welcome back to Part 2 of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 reunion.

Following a few repetitive questions about Madison “Mads” Herrera and Gary King’s boatmance – didn’t we cover all of this in the last episode? – host Andy Cohen turned his attention to a possible relationship between Mads and Alex Propson . “Mads, it was really exciting when you and Alex finally made out in the van,” Andy said. “Did you see each other after the season wrapped?”

“Uh, yeah,” Mads responded. “We hung out here and there.”

“There’s been instances,” Alex added.

“What do you mean [by] ‘instances’ with Mads?” Andy asked.

“After the show, we explored it a little bit,” Alex said, “to see if it was something worth continuing with. We’re both very busy. Geographically we’re close but as friends now.”

But did they have sex?

“Everyone’s stayed pretty well-connected,” Alex continued, “ Chase [Lemacks] , Ileisha [Dell] , Lucy [Edmunds] , Mads … we’ve been on some trips together, and we hang out together. We talk weekly. I think we’re all in a really good place and happy with … the way it is.”

“But did you have sex?” Daisy Kelliher asked, laughing. “That’s what they want to know.”

“There you go,” Andy agreed.

“It’s important to all of us to stay really good friends,” Mads said. “And that’s what outshines everything. So that’s where it is.” Still not answering the question, Mads.

“Friends with benefits then,” Andy interjected.

“No, friends,” Mads insisted. But then she seemed to almost say something but stopped herself. “He has a … Wait, I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that.”

When Andy asked him, “You have a girlfriend, right, Alex?” Alex kind of grudgingly admitted that he does. “Uh, yeah,” he said.

Andy seemed confused as he responded, “Okay, well, don’t sound too excited about it.”

“Technically, not right now,” Alex clarified, “but, you know, I’m hopeful.”

Standing up to the throuple

Andy brought up that one thing we all learned this season is that “throuples maybe don’t work, eh?”

Addressing Captain Glenn Shephard , Andy continued, “With the throuple, that was really the first time we’ve seen you step in and threaten to kick an unruly guest off the boat. How did you know you had to intervene?”

“I’ve seen that kind of thing before,” Glenn said, “and I don’t want to take any chances. I want to make it abundantly clear … what’s at stake if these guys start acting out.”

Andy digs into the Colin/Daisy drama

Finally, Andy ordered up the tea we all came here to sip. “This season, we saw a newly single Colin [MacRae] make a move on Daisy. But after learning the truth about her sexual history with Gary and mistakenly being called ‘Gary’ in bed, does Colin regret stumbling into this love triangle?”

“Diana from Lake Placid said, ‘After seeing Daisy on Watch What Happens Live , it seems like she’s not liking Colin,'” Andy read. “What happened?” Gary brought snacks, as he chose that moment to start crunching potato chips, very loudly. Rude, Gary. Did you bring enough for everyone?

“That’s for me?” Colin asked.

“You’d like to go first, Colin?” Daisy responded, sarcastically. “Absolutely. Narrate the story.”

“We explored something together,” Colin began. “I flew her over from the UK to come see me. That was really good … We spent a couple of weeks together in Mexico. I flew to New York to see her. We kind of bounced around together for a little while, and then it kind of turned a little toxic, I’d say. And I ended things around December last year.”

What went wrong?

When Andy asked why things had turned toxic, Daisy volunteered, “Because we triggered each other, and you’re missing the whole point of why it really turned badly.”

“What is he missing?” Andy wanted to know.

“When I found out he’d broken up with his ex-girlfriend in April [2022, prior to the charter season],” Daisy explained, “I was like okay, great [because now he was single] … We knew we liked each other. We could feel it. So I turn up to the boat, and I find out that he’s been sleeping with someone that he was working with. So I immediately retreat. I put up all of my walls.” But it wasn’t shown on the show.

“I became very defensive, as I’m apparently defined as. Colin made me feel incredibly guilty about the Gary thing. That didn’t just happen on season, [but] throughout the year. [Then I kept asking him] about this woman and why it was different with me and Gary and not this woman? And he said, ‘The difference is that I’m telling you that there is nothing between me and this woman.'” He assured her that even if he and Daisy were to break up, he and the woman had no future together.

“So then to find out from my crew members a couple of months after we had broken up,” Daisy continued, “that he was now in a serious relationship with this woman, it was very shocking for me to hear. Very hurtful. And the toxicity was always there because the trust was never there.”

Colin’s side of the story

“Before filming Season 4,” Colin responded, “Daisy and I hooked up.” Andy was visibly surprised by this new information, and he’s not the only one. “This is what nobody knows in the audience.”

“Okay, so you wanna f*cking talk about this now?” Daisy interjected. “Why don’t we go well back to Season 2?”

“You’re overreacting,” Colin told Daisy. “This is why the relationship turned toxic. You can’t reason with this woman. I’ve realized that, and I’ve ended things with her.”

“This is what I need to say,” Colin continued. “Daisy and I hooked up before the season.” Andy’s jaw was on the floor at this news. “I rang Gary, and I told him, ‘Hey, bro, I just wanna know how you feel.’ He was stoked about it. I told Glenn, ‘Hey, this is gonna add another spanner in the works.’ Glenn was happy about it. Daisy was in my hotel room days before filming. We had started something already.”

At this point, Andy remembered he was supposed to be asking questions. “Okay, hold up,” Andy said. “So you hooked up before the show. At that point, had she told you that she and Gary had hooked up? Or was that a surprise to you as you were filming?”

“I found that out halfway through the season filming,” Colin admitted.

Daisy’s rebuttal

“Why don’t we go back to Season 2,” Daisy jumped in, “when we’d finished filming, when you were in your serious relationship with your girlfriend, and you pulled me aside in the bar, and you were like, ‘Oh if I was single, you are definitely the person I wanted to hook up with.’ And you grabbed me by my waist, and I flicked it off, and I was like, ‘F*ck you.'”

“Then the end of Season 3,” Daisy continued, “you pulled me aside, down on the pontoon when we were having a party, and you were like, ‘I really wanna kiss you.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, well, this is awkward because you’re in a serious relationship.’ So I walked away.”

At this point, Andy woke up from his utter shock and realized he had a program to run. “So if those things are true … ” he started to say.

“I’ve always had a crush on Daisy, yeah,” Colin confessed, “and I told her that to her face.”

What about the kiss with Alex?

“Let me ask you this,” Andy began. “If you all had hooked up before the season started, why hide that?”

“Why make out with Alex?” Alex asked, getting a good laugh from everyone.

In her defense, Daisy claimed that she wasn’t trying to start a relationship with Colin. “I wasn’t like, I kissed this guy three times, so now I’m in a relationship. [Plus] I didn’t know about his current girlfriend that he was hooking up with … When he told me about this girl, it made me take a step back. Yes, I was still hooking up with him. Guess what? I’m 36 in 2023, I can kiss multiple people and not feel ashamed for it.”

They weren’t yet sleeping together at that point, according to Daisy, and Colin had said he was sleeping with someone else, so they were still “figuring things out.” The extremely drunken kiss with Alex during a game of Truth or Dare was “not very affectionate,” even though she says now she’d “happily kiss Alex at any time.”

“It was a lot deeper than that, Daisy, and you know that,” Colin added. “I was sleeping with this other girl on my boat, yes. I was telling her about Daisy, and I was telling Daisy about Brit. It was all out in the open.”

“I didn’t know about this girl,” Daisy argued, starting to get a little emotional. “I owe you the truth, but you don’t owe me the truth?”

Colin argued, “I told you everything about her, Daisy.”

“Not until we got to the boat,” Daisy corrected him.

Is Colin gaslighting Daisy or is it the other way around?

“This is why it’s toxic, Andy,” Colin said. “Can you see?” So Daisy being hesitant to have a relationship with a guy who was sleeping with another girl is toxic? I guess I must be toxic, too, then because that doesn’t sound like fun to me.

“Yeah, ’cause I’m a crazy bitch,” Daisy shrugged.

“I’ve just sat back and chosen this to be my moment to explain some very important details,” Colin added, “as to why I was so hurt during the season, why it was so confusing. And I think anyone who can sit – I think only Daisy can sit there with zero remorse and turn this around on me. It’s a unique skill.” I feel like Colin’s gaslighting Daisy at this point. He was sleeping with another girl, and yet his feelings were hurt that she had had a fling with Gary in the past? Come on, Colin.

But Andy seemed to jump in on Colin’s side. “Daisy, are you gaslighting him?” he asked.

But rather than answering the (stupid) question, Daisy burst into tears and left the room.

“We knew this was going to happen,” Colin said. That was vicious, Colin. He doesn’t seem to have any feelings for her at all. Good riddance, Daisy. You can do better. But not Gary, please.

“You just have to maybe take her feelings into account,” Lucy chimed in. “Listen, I don’t want to involve myself, but she clearly did like you a lot. And you [liked her], too. It’s not a nice situation.” Lucy pointed out that Colin and Daisy had been friends for three years and to lose that is hard.

Daisy returns to the conversation

“Daisy, what made you leave?” Andy asked when Daisy returned to the room.

“I’m f*cked either way,” she said. “I’m always gonna be the angry, crazy woman, and I’m never gonna win. It’s never gonna matter what I say. I’m never gonna get validation of my feelings.”

“I find myself on the defensive,” she continued, through tears. “If I sleep with someone, I’m a slut. If I speak up, I’m angry or toxic. I stay silent, and I’m weak.” She’s not wrong. I think a lot of women feel that way, sadly.

Andy asked Colin, “You had real feelings for Daisy, right?”

“Thousand percent,” Colin admitted. “Totally, the whole way, the whole time … Genuine connection. I did my very f*cking best to try and be with this woman … but she was sort of pushing me away a little bit, trying to figure out if it was real. Unfortunately, by the time she had figured out it was real, I had sort of moved on.”

“You also slept with her when you and I were trying to be together,” Daisy countered.

“I told you about everything,” Colin said, as if that makes it okay.

“You made me feel so guilty about Gary,” Daisy said. “I eventually stopped talking to him, I stopped being friends with him.”

“I was insecure about Gary,” Colin said. “Watching the show, I’ve seen a thousand conversations and acts and all of this stuff that’s just outright shocking to me.”

“But you were also flirting with Ileisha the whole time,” Daisy countered, “and trying to decide if you wanted to be with me or Ileisha.” Wow. Didn’t see that one coming.

Ileisha gets pulled into Daisy and Colin’s drama

“Ileisha, how do you respond to Daisy’s [accusation that Colin] was flirting with you all season?” Andy asked the chef.

Ileisha seemed a little shocked by the allegation. I for one never noticed Colin flirting with her. He was very helpful in the kitchen, but I didn’t see it as flirting with her. Now Chase was another story. He never stopped.

“That’s the first time that I’ve heard that,” Ileisha answered. “Colin and I got on really well from the first minute we met just because of the Aussie-Kiwi [thing]. We just kinda got each other as friends … But I had a boyfriend. I had no idea what was going on with Daisy and Colin.”

“Is anyone gonna back me up on this?” Daisy asked. Crickets.

“That’s fair,” Colin responded. “There’s definitely chemistry between Ileisha and I. We get along so well. Like she said, we’re both from down under … [Is the point of this] for me to apologize for having a pretty good friendship with Ileisha and detract from how you treated me?”

No matter where the blame lies, Daisy was obviously very hurt that things didn’t work out with Colin, and it showed in her emotions. Also, I was starting to wonder as the night went on how many glasses of wine she’d thrown back before the show started.

Gary broke the bro code

“Putting yourself in Colin’s shoes, seeing what he saw between you and Gary,” Andy asked Daisy, “do you understand how he would be rankled or questioning [their relationship]?”

“I feel nothing but remorse and shame for how I behaved with Gary,” Daisy confessed. “I was pushing somebody away because I was scared … of getting hurt.”

“Gary, it seems like you broke bro code a number of times,” Andy said. “He seemed like he was being pretty clear with you, and you were sending him some pretty hardcore mixed messages.” For sure.

While Mads put it all down to “hypocrisy,” Daisy surmised that everyone was “playing games.” Alex and Colin immediately objected to that, both saying, “I wasn’t.”

“Gary, why did you tell Colin you had no interest in Daisy and you were happy they got together, but then you told Daisy you have feelings for her?” Andy asked. “Who’d you lie to?” Oooooh, Andy! Good question. I thought the writers were all out on strike. Did he write that one himself? I’m impressed.

“I probably lied to myself,” Gary admitted. “I think that was my jealous side coming out. Maybe deep down there was something that I felt for Daisy, and I was happy for Colin to be with her. But seeing how it’s worked out right now, how toxic [it’s become], maybe it’s for the best that it didn’t [work out].”

Did Gary have genuine feelings for Daisy?

“Daisy, do you think Gary has genuine feelings for you,” Andy wondered, “or is he like … a child who wants a toy if someone else is playing with it?” I pick the second one, Andy. Definitely.

“To be honest, I felt like a piece of meat between the two of them,” Daisy answered, still wiping away tears. “I felt like I was a prize … like it was an ego competition. I don’t think Gary had genuine feelings for me.”

“Colin, did you and Daisy feel like you had a genuine possibility for a future together?” Andy asked.

“I was giving it 100%,” Colin responded. “We had some incredible times together, some great memories. But I think, as you’ve probably witnessed tonight, we trigger each other, and it did turn quite toxic towards the end.”

“Daisy, were you in love with [Colin]?” Andy asked.

“No,” Daisy said. I think she’s lying to save face because she’s still wiping away tears. “We definitely had very strong feelings, to a point where we were possibly falling in love, but, no, I wasn’t. I was more betrayed by the fact that he didn’t tell me he was with this girl … I thought we broke up in friendship. And knowing that all of these people in this screen [indicating her castmates] knew this for months before I did, it was humiliating.”

Where do we go from here?

Everybody agreed that it was sad that the “Three Amigos” (Gary, Daisy and Colin) are no longer friends, after having been so close.

Andy asked, “Gary and Daisy, where do you two go from here?”

“If we have to work together, we work together,” Daisy responded. “If we happen to be in the same place we talk, but we really don’t have that much of a relationship.”

Then Andy asked Gary, “Where is your friendship with Colin these days?”

“I think Colin and I are pretty good,” Gary said. “We still chat every now and then.”

“We’re friends,” Colin agreed. “Gary messaged me yesterday, saying how am I feeling going into [the reunion]. And I said, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna speak my mind, I’m gonna say some things, but nothing I haven’t said to your face about how I was feeling.’ So we’re okay. I forgave both of them.”

Before closing the show, Andy asked if there was anything the three of them would like to say.

“We literally just banged through all the episodes very recently,” Colin said, “so it’s fresh. There’s a lot of emotion. But I think Gary and I are gonna be okay, and we’ll see about Daisy and I, but I’m open for it.”

After admitting that he and Colin were still friends, Gary addressed Daisy. Saying they have a “rocky relationship,” he added, “If we ever have to work together in the future, it’ll be a professional relationship [yeah, right]. But I don’t think we’re ever going to be how we were, unfortunately.”

Daisy got the last word

Andy let Daisy have the last word. “I’m sorry for being so emotional,” she said, still wiping her eyes. “That’s what you get for putting your heart on the line. I love them both. They’ve taught me a lot about myself. I have regrets, but I know I have a good heart. I know my intentions were good. Onwards and upwards.”

‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Season 4 Reunion Revelations: Where Each Boatmance Stands Post-Filming

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Reunion Revelations Where Each Boatmance Stands Post-Filming 273

Drama from season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht did not remain on board — and the cast had plenty of issues to address during the reunion.

The Bravo special, which aired its first part on Monday, July 17, centered around the challenges that Captain Glenn , Gary King and Daisy Kelliher faced during the latest charter season. A noticeable change from the season 4 finale to the reunion was the distance between Daisy and Colin MacRae .

The former couple, who started a relationship during their time on Parsifal III, did not appear to be on good terms. Daisy hinted at a falling out between her and Colin before they virtually crossed paths after filming season 4.

“I am going to leave it to the reunion. I feel like he [has the most to answer for at the reunion]. I have a lot of love for Colin, but things are complicated,” she explained on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in June when a fan asked why she unfollowed Colin on social media. “I don’t need complication on my social media.”

Before new episodes started to air in April, Daisy also discussed Gary and Colin’s overlapping interest in her. “I definitely feel like [Gary] was jealous. I think the boys — at times it did feel like I was a trophy prize [for them]. I could be completely wrong but [the way they acted felt a] bit like an ego thing going on between the two of them,” she exclusively told Us Weekly that same month. “And I was like, ‘OK, I don’t really want to be involved in this.'”

The Distance Between Daisy and Gary

During the second part of the reunion, Daisy accused Colin of affecting her friendship with Gary. "You made me feel so guilty about Gary. I eventually stopped talking to him and stopped being friends with him," she shared after crying on screen.

Colin and Gary later noted that they wanted to work on their friendship — but neither seemed to have high hopes about their individual relationships with Daisy.

The Truth Behind Daisy and Colin's Connection

According to Daisy and Colin, they originally hooked up before filming season 4. The chief stew, however, accused Colin of being with another woman as well, which he didn't originally disclose. Daisy also claimed Colin told her several times that he wanted to be with her between seasons 2 and 3 — while he was in a serious relationship.

The engineer, for his part, blew off the "irrelevant" comments about their timeline, adding, "This is what nobody knows in the audience. This is why the relationship turned toxic because you can't reason with this woman. I have realized that and I ended things with her."

A-List 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Fans

After Andy Cohen asked whether any celebrities reached out to the season 4 cast, Daisy recalled getting messages from several Hollywood stars.

"I have had a few celebrities reach out to me. I am not going to name drop. But Christina Applegate had reached out to me after I had seen her — she had a nice conversation with Captain Lee," the chief stew shared. "She's a huge fan of the show so it was really exciting. And obviously Chrissy [Teigen] ."

Mads and Alex's New Normal

Mads and Alex confirmed that they have stayed close after sharing a kiss during their last charter. The pair went on to say that a romance didn't seem to be in the cards amid the deckhand's complicated love life.

Daisy vs. Gary's Management Styles

During the first part of the reunion, Daisy put Gary on blast when she questioned his work ethic.

"I think Glenn acknowledges and is aware of how much I do. But possibly he sometimes isn't aware of what Gary doesn't do. Let's put it that way," Daisy quipped. "Gary could probably manage better. He could probably lead better. This isn't about me, this is about Gary."

In response, Glenn noted that Daisy had a "good point" that he didn't know everything about what happens behind the scenes. Gary, for his part, said he stood by the hard work he put into season 4.

Chase and Ileisha's Relationship Status

"After the show finished filming, I went home and ended things with my boyfriend. Chase [Lemacks] and I were just there for each other and he supported me through a lot of hard times," Ileisha Dell , who had a flirty relationship with Chase , revealed at the reunion. "We kind of went back and forth. He came to Australia and I have been to America a couple of times. I even went to Charleston."

The deckhand, meanwhile, admitted that his connection with Ileisha had a major factor working against them.

"The reality of it is that Ileisha is one of the most amazing women I have ever met but we live on the opposite ends of the world," he added. "Australia and Charleston couldn't be farther from each other. There's nothing but love there."

These include the rudder, which is used to steer the yacht, and the anchor, which is used to keep the yacht in place.

Other parts include the bow and stern thrusters, which are used to help maneuver the yacht in tight spaces, and the winches, which are used to raise and lower sails.

All of these parts, along with the main components, help to make a yacht a reliable and safe vessel.

The hull is the main part of a yacht, providing the structure and support that allows the vessel to stay afloat.

The hull is usually made of fiberglass, wood, or aluminum, and is often reinforced with a steel frame to increase its strength and durability.

The hull is typically divided into two sections: the main deck, which contains the cabin, cockpit, and other amenities; and the bottom, which houses the engine, fuel tank, and other equipment.

The hull is also responsible for providing buoyancy, which allows the yacht to float in the water.

The shape of the hull depends on the type of yacht, with different designs providing different levels of performance and capabilities.

Racing yachts , for example, often have a narrower hull shape that allows them to cut through the water more efficiently, while cruising yachts typically have a wider hull shape that provides more stability.

part 2 the yacht

The deck of a yacht is the flat surface that covers the hull and provides access to the cabin, cockpit, and other parts of the yacht.

It is usually made of fiberglass or wood and contains various components that are essential for the yachts operation.

The deck typically includes a helm station, navigation lights, and a mooring cleat.

It also provides a place to mount the boats instruments, such as a compass and GPS.

The deck is also home to the boats various rigging components, such as the masts, booms, and winches.

These components are essential for the boats sail operation, allowing it to be steered and navigated while under sail.

The deck also serves as the main platform for moving around the boat, providing the crew with a safe and secure place to walk and work.

Lastly, the deck provides a great vantage point for admiring the view, whether it be from the bow, stern, or sides of the boat.

The keel of a yacht is a fin-shaped structure located at the bottom of the boat.

It is designed to provide stability and improve the yachts steering performance.

The keel also helps the yacht cut through the water more efficiently and reduces drag, which can improve speed.

In addition, the keel is an important part of the yachts design and contributes to its overall shape and aesthetics.

The keel can be made from a variety of materials, such as fiberglass, steel, or wood, and can be either full or fin keels.

Full keels provide greater stability and are better for navigating rougher waters, while fin keels are lighter and more aerodynamic.

part 2 the yacht

When it comes to luxury and leisure, few things can top the experience of sailing on a yacht.

Whether youre cruising the high seas or fishing in the bay, a yacht is the perfect way to get away from it all.

But before you start your nautical adventures, its important to understand the different parts of a yacht and what theyre called.

One of the most important parts of a yacht is the cabin.

The cabin is the living area of the yacht, where you can relax and enjoy the ride.

The cabin typically houses the bedrooms, kitchen, and other amenities.

Depending on the size of the yacht, the cabin can also include a lounge, wet bar, and dining area.

Its the perfect spot to unwind after a long day on the water or entertain family and friends.

When it comes to decorating the cabin, the possibilities are endless.

From traditional nautical dcor to modern, minimalist designs, you can create a space that reflects your own personal style.

The cabin is also a great place to install the latest technology, such as high-definition TVs, Wi-Fi, and sound systems.

With the right features, you can enjoy a truly luxurious experience.

The cabin is the heart of a yacht, and the perfect spot for you and your guests to relax and enjoy the journey.

With the right design and amenities, the cabin can transform your yacht into a home away from home.

Cockpit and Rigging

Cockpit and rigging are two essential parts of a yacht.

The cockpit is the part of the yacht used for steering and navigation.

It is typically located aft of the cabin and may be enclosed or open, depending on the design.

It’s the central place where the captain and crew can see all the instruments needed to control the yacht, making it the perfect spot to take in the view and enjoy the journey.

Rigging consists of the wires and masts that support the sails.

These are used to increase the yachts speed and enable it to move more efficiently through the water.

The masts are held in place by a series of stays and shrouds, while the sails are attached to the masts and held down by halyards and sheets.

Rigging is a complex system that requires regular maintenance and attention, which is why it is important to have a knowledgeable and experienced crew on board.

Together, the cockpit and rigging allow a yacht to be operated safely and efficiently.

They are essential for maneuvering the yacht and controlling its speed, making them one of the most important parts of a yacht.

It is important to understand the different parts of a yacht and how they work together to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Final Thoughts

Now that you know the parts of a yacht and their purpose, you can confidently explore the waters in your own vessel.

Whether youre a seasoned sailor or just starting out, understanding the structure of a yacht is essential for a safe and enjoyable experience.

So, go ahead and plan that next adventure youve got the knowledge to make it a success!.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Reunion, Part 2 Recap: Colin and Daisy Tell All

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Andy brought up that one thing we all learned this season is that “throuples maybe don’t work, eh?”

Addressing Captain Glenn Shephard , Andy continued, “With the throuple, that was really the first time we’ve seen you step in and threaten to kick an unruly guest off the boat. How did you know you had to intervene?”

“I’ve seen that kind of thing before,” Glenn said, “and I don’t want to take any chances. I want to make it abundantly clear … what’s at stake if these guys start acting out.”

Andy digs into the Colin/Daisy drama

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Recap

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Reunion Recap

Andy let Daisy have the last word. “I’m sorry for being so emotional,” she said, still wiping her eyes. “That’s what you get for putting your heart on the line. I love them both. They’ve taught me a lot about myself. I have regrets, but I know I have a good heart. I know my intentions were good. Onwards and upwards.”

How to ACE your Interview – Part Two

by theyachtstew

Today’s post is a follow-up on the popular topic of Interviews. In part 1, three amazing Chief Stewardesses shared their top 3 tips for Stewardesses while doing an interview. Click HERE if you haven’t had a chance to read it yet!

To continue the conversation of putting your best foot forward for your next interview, I asked 4 Chief Stew’s to share what they feel are appropriate & inappropriate questions to ask the employer.

Personally, I ALWAYS ask about the longevity of the crew and what sort of actives the crew do together when not working. These two points are so important to me, I need to know that the boat treats the crew well enough that crew stay onboard longterm & that the crew does more that just drink on weekends.

The three brilliant minds behind part 1 of this series are back AND we added another BRILLIANT Chief Stewardess, Harriet!

Harriet ~ Chief Stewardess of 1 Year

part 2 the yacht

What would you consider to be appropriate questions from the Stew?

1) Find out about crew dynamics and longevity

2) What does the role involve? Progression onboard?

3) What’s the interior structure & the structure of hierarchy onboard?

What would you consider to be inappropriate questions from the Stew?

One of the first or only questions being money related, then you know that they are only in it for the money.

Cantleigh ~ Chief Stewardess of 1 Year

1) How is the position become available? ie What is the crew turn over like? If you feel this is too direct One could ask, what is the longest/ average time of the crew.

2) What are the crew dynamics like? Is the crew active? Do you do crew activities off the boat? Is Crew morale encouraged in down time?

3) What is the package! For me many girls seem to only ask about salary and forget there is so much more to take into consideration. Is there flights, is the FULL medical aid on AND OFF the boat. Some boats do a rewards scheme such as 13th month bonus or courses paid for after a year onboard. Some boats may be 100 euro off another but invest in the longevity of their crew and for me this is worth so much more!

4) Can you share with me a bit about your career. This is a polite way to see the experience the chief will have and bring to your growth and development.

All of which I have regretfully been asked

1) Is there a drug test, if so how often (RED FLAG)

2) Is this a dry boat? Is alcohol brought for the crew because I the boat my friend joined does.

3) Who are the owners, what do they do? this is privileged and private information for the crew. Rather ask what are the nationalities. Is it formal silver service etc to get a feel.

4) Do we get weekends off? This for me indicates someone not willing to give me all they got

1) Itinerary

1) Asking too much about the guests, (me personally I would never do it)

2) Also asking for time off, free weekends etc…(Its important to know, but for me it would be a sign you are looking for chill boat with little work.)

Meg ~ Chief Stewardess of 2 Years

First of all, I think it is SO important for a candidate to have some questions ready. I hate nothing more than when we get to the end of an interview and I ask if there is anything the candidate would like to go through or any questions they have, and they say nothing. For me, this could suggest a lack of interest or, if recruiting for a more senior role, a lack of experience. When a boat is interviewing you, they are trying to get to know you. We use interviews not only to see your experience but also as a way of gauging crew fit, department fit, social skills and overall personality. However, as a candidate (junior or senior), during this interview, you are simultaneously interviewing the boat to see what vibe and professional feel you get for the chief stew, captain, management etc.

1. Do you offer onboard training? Does the boat offer any sort of opportunity for shore side training? Is this paid for by the boat? Can I use this opportunity within the first 6 months/1 year of joining?

These sorts of questions scream commitment to the industry, as it immediately shows me that you are interested in learning, which is something I truly feel the candidates coming through the interior departments are lacking.

2. Ask about crew turnover or longevity. Most importantly within the interior department. Why is the position available? It may be because the previous junior stew was bumped up a rank, which shows the boat is open to promoting from within, which is great. If it was because she had a falling out with the Captain, or she felt she was not learning anymore, this could also suggest a few things.

3. Ask about your crew accommodation. Who will you be sharing with? Will you have to move cabins often to accommodate rotational positions? Will you be sharing with females only? I find one of my most important questions to ask a junior stew is about their previous living space. I prefer to stay clear of a candidate who has never lived away from home or who has never shared a dormitory etc. Crew cabins can be small spaces and you will almost always share a cabin.

I know several people suggest any questions about salary or leave are inappropriate, but I would suggest that it is the way in which they are asked that can be inappropriate. It is important that you find out about the contractual offering (salary, leave allowance and what medical cover you are entitled to as a crew member), however if these questions are the first thing you ask about, it could suggest that you are more interested in the money side of the job rather than the opportunity to learn and enter into the industry.

Personally, I do not like it when candidates try to ask several questions about itinerary. I always explain our basic movements for the upcoming year (med season locations, shipyard etc), but I find candidates often push for more info on this. I understand that exciting itineraries are sought after, but when you are looking of your first job, itinerary should not be as important as a solid captain and crew and a motivational environment to work in.

I really hope this has been insightful & helpful to all you! Interviews are SO important and vital to a successful career!

I have a few more Interview Posts coming & this time it’s for Chief Stews & HOW to interview!
