Turkey is a dream sailing area with countless bays and lots of sun. That's exactly why our boss, Klaus Pitter, will be spending his vacation with his family in Turkey this year. He has been to Göcek several times and shares his personal opinion about Turkey's sailing area in this blog.
What makes a yacht charter vacation in Turkey special?
The human is a creature of habit: Many of our charter guests prefer a certain area and usually a very specific yacht for their summer vacation every year. But the desire to discover something new never sleeps. Our sailing areas leave nothing to be desired. For all those who want to break out of the norm and also want to explore a new sailing area, we are happy to summarize all the facts about our sailing destination Turkey here.
What to expect in Turkey:
A varied landscape with secluded bays, long sandy beaches and green pine forests down to the water.
An exceptional hospitality.
With an immense density of bays and short distances as well as numerous gently sloping beaches, Turkey is very popular with families.
Turkish cuisine is a treat , with a varied selection of delicious dishes, from delicious appetizers to sweet desserts, you will feel like you are in Cockaigne.
The Meltemi, the fair-weather wind of the Aegean, blows consistently throughout the summer, making for dreamy sailing conditions .
In Turkey, there are pleasant temperatures from spring to autumn , so that you can still have fun in the water in autumn.
What is Pitter offering in Turkey?
We have two bases in Turkey, both in beautiful Göcek. The Pitter Yacht Charter base is in Göcek Mucev Marina , the Pitter Charter partner base is in Göcek Village Port . From both bases you can explore the sailing area around the Gulf of Fethiye . Nowhere else can you find so many bays next to each other in such a close environment.
What do I have to consider in terms of sailing in Turkey and when is the best time to travel?
In terms of area and sailing technology, Turkey is a simple sailing area . The steady blowing foothills of the fair-weather wind Meltemi ensure that you are safe in the bay after sunset. Sailing is possible in Turkey from April to October with warm temperatures. Due to the mild Mediterranean climate and the many hours of sunshine, Turkey is also an ideal area for a spring or autumn trip .
Culinary and hospitality in Turkey
Turkey is a holiday country whose hospitality is exceptional. The Turkish cuisine is a pleasure highlight , with a diverse selection of delicious dishes, from appetizers to sweet desserts, you feel like you're in Cockaigne. What does Klaus Pitter say about a sailing holiday in Turkey?
As announced, there is finally the personal opinion of our boss Klaus Pitter:
“Turkey is a real insider tip for me. I know many don't want to go to Turkey for political reasons. But here I just want to tell you that unfortunately it hits the wrong people. The people on the coast are very western orientated and extremely nice and hospitable. Rarely do you get such a warm welcome in a country. We have our two bases in Göcek with 23 yachts for you. The Gulf of Fethiye in particular is a family-friendly and protected area and ideal for a 1-week trip. I will be sailing in Turkey for 3 weeks this year and to be honest, the anticipation is already growing immeasurably!”

"First time trying EGG yachting in Gocek. We met with Ibrahim some time ago in a boat exhibition and he’s friendly honest approach made us give EGG yachting a go.
