John murphy, june 2022.
Vita Bel remains the best run and fun experience on the Island. We’ve returned year after year because it gives us a great day out. This time we chose an evening cruise and it was exactly as described. The atmosphere, the experience and the food was second to none. I just don’t know how Nigel manages to produce such an excellent meal from a small galley! Highly recommended.
Jodie Kelly, June 2022
Brilliant day, wish it went on for longer!
Jefferson Morris, June 2022
We had the best day of our trip on the Vita Bel! Nigel and Juan went above and beyond to give us such a fun and special day. The boat was very spacious and clean. The food they served for lunch was so good and features great local Spanish cuisine. They made sure we got to stop several times in various coves for a swim and paddle boarding, but also made sure we had plenty of timing for actual sailing on the open water. I highly recommend using Vita Bel for a day charter while in Cala D’Or!

Tripadvisor.
We had a great time sailing!! The captain was excellent and entertaining, perfect amount of sailing and then anchoring to swim in the calas. Food was delicious. Would absolutely recommend , daughter (age7) said favorite part of the trip .

We are repeat offenders and were the 5th time with the Vita Bel II on the road, this time as a birthday present for our son. With his wife and his parents-in-law we were seven. Besides us there was a very pleasant and interesting family of four on the sailing trip. Once again it was great to sail on this beautiful, traditional ship past the coast of Mallorca and above all to steer into the picturesque little bays, which are difficult or not accessible from the land. So we also made a stop for a swim in a beautiful bay, where the first attempts on the Standup-Paddling-Board could be made – a great amusement for everyone, on the board or for the spectators… We spent the sunset in the harbor of Porto Colom. After a refreshing swim there was an excellent 3-course dinner which was prepared on the plancha – the Spanish type of BBQ-Grill – on the ship. First there was tiger-prawns, then beef or. salmon fillet cooked on the point and for dessert a grandiose chocolate cake. Also, good wines and other drinks were provided. The return trip to Cala d’Or under a magnificent starry sky was an experience in itself. Our captain Stephen Parsons and his sailor Miksch (?) had everything under control. We are already looking forward to the next time on the Vita Bell II…
David P, October 2019
A fantastic boat trip with a very hospitable crew, great food and the drinks flowed. A real chill out experience to enhance your stay!

Luxury Yacht Mallorca: The ever-popular star of the Mediterranean, Spain’s Mallorca, the ideal location to say “I do.”
Imagine your wedding venue set on the magical island of Mallorca, a classic Mediterranean postcard which never fails to seduce thanks to its ravishing beaches, secluded mountains, nostalgic hill towns and azure views.
Spain’s Mallorca tops Europe’s summer holiday charts for many reasons and is fast becoming a popular location to celebrate weddings . Beyond the popular tourist hot-spots, coves grace the island, maintaining the authentic, romantic touch of the island’s stunning coastline.
Now imagine wowing your wedding guests with a luxury excursion aboard a classic 26 meter long yacht built in 1965. Welcome your guests on board a privately crewed yacht where luxury reigns supreme.
This Spanish-based elegant yacht offer all kinds of events such as celebrations, company events, weddings, parties, lunches, dinners, day trips and much more, fitting up to 65 people on-board.
Located in the heart of Palma de Mallorca ’s harbour, all the events held on the yacht can be adapted to personal preferences: decoration, food and beverage and extra services such as water sports can all be added depending on each function and makes the ideal pre / post wedding venue to spend a special day with your nearest and dearest.
Events onboard a royal yacht
Sunshine Weddings Spain has been delighted to talk with the current promoter of this luxury yacht, who reveals a little more about the boat’s history and what makes it so unique.
1. Built in 1965 on request by the Belgian royal family, when was it brought to the beautiful island of Mallorca?
Unfortunately we do not know all its history as the boat has changed many hands, but it’s like a riches to rags and back again story.
This opulent 26 metre classic yacht was found in a highly deteriorated state in Seville’s Gualquivir two years ago. The current owners, skipper Carlos Samblas teamed up with Mikael Landström, owner of the Portixol Group, to purchase it and turn it into a vessel fit for exclusive events.
Built in 1965 on the request of the Belgian Royal Family, the legendary Dutch naval architect, Henri de Voogt designed it. No expense was spared in its design where high quality steel was melted down from second world war tanks and used in its fabrication.
2. The vessel has taken part in several of the Monaco Classics . Do you have any stories (and vintage images) about that time which you can share with us?
As the yacht has so many previous owners, much of its history is a mystery, but from the Log Books where the location and navigation is recorded, one can see that the yacht took part in several Monaco Classics and though we have no vintage images of the period we can see from the more than dozen brass metopa shields which hang along the wooden panelled walls in the lounge that this classic boat has a glamorous past. Each of the shields would have been given by an illustrious guest.
3. This yacht was exclusively designed by Henri De Voogt. How did the idea to convert it into a boat for events come about? Is it a family business?
Carlos Samblas has always dreamed of owning a boat like this one, and when he discovered it, despite its highly deteriorated state, he could see its potential. When Carlos teamed with the Portixol Group, the future of the boat was clear. The Portixol Group has a long history in the hotel industry (hotels, restaurants, Palma Tennis club etc.) and they renovated the yacht to offer an opulent space for any VIP event.
4. What is your most popular request?
We have organised events for many VIPs and companies like Google, actors etc.
5. Can the boat be hired out to tour around the Balearic islands for a bride and groom’s honeymoon?
We only offer half-day/full-day events at the moment. However, plans are being made to make it even more luxurious.

Mallorca Wedding
Posted by candida and max jan, 1. march 2020, uncover the beauty of a mallorca wedding: a guide to your perfect destination wedding.
In the heart of the Mediterranean, the island of Mallorca captivates with its turquoise blue waters, ancient architecture, and lush greenery, making it an irresistible high-class wedding destination. Its unique blend of stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and modern sophistication provides an unforgettable backdrop for couples seeking an extraordinary matrimonial celebration. As the jewel of the Balearic Islands, a “Mallorca Wedding” is more than just an event; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that fuses timeless romance with distinctive elegance. This luxurious destination awaits couples who dream of exchanging their vows in an environment that epitomizes sophistication, style, and exclusivity.
Why Choose Mallorca for Your Wedding
Selecting a wedding venue is among the most important decisions you’ll make in your wedding planning process. It sets the stage for your celebration, so why not make it truly unforgettable? With an extensive variety of Mallorca wedding venues, you can choose from opulent villas, historic fincas, luxurious hotels, or even sun-kissed beaches, ensuring your day is as unique as your love story.
Mallorca wedding hotels offer the perfect combination of convenience and luxury. Hotels such as the Cap Rocat and the Belmond La Residencia provide world-class services and stunning views, ensuring a memorable experience for you and your guests. For those who desire something more intimate and unique, hotel wedding venues Mallorca like the Son Brull Hotel & Spa or the St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort provide unforgettable settings for your special day.
For a truly unique and historical experience, La Fortaleza and Finca Serena top your list. La Fortaleza, a 17th-century fortress turned luxury estate, offers an unparalleled blend of history and luxury. Finca Serena, on the other hand, is a tranquil oasis nestled amidst 40 hectares of unspoiled nature. It exemplifies the traditional finca wedding Mallorca experience, with beautiful stone buildings, olive groves, and vineyards.
If a private villa is more your style, a wedding villa Mallorca offers the privacy and personalized touch you might be looking for. Venues like the Villa Italia or the Sea Club will bring an exclusive touch to your wedding day. And for couples desiring a smaller, more intimate setting, “small wedding venues Mallorca” like the Fornalutx Petit Hotel offer the perfect solution.
If the sound of waves gently crashing on the shore and the feeling of sand beneath your feet is your dream wedding scenario, a beach wedding Mallorca at locations like Playa de Muro or Es Trenc will certainly deliver.
But why is Mallorca the best location for couples? Simply put, it offers unparalleled variety, breathtaking beauty, and world-class services. Whether you’re dreaming of a grand affair in a historic fortress, an intimate celebration in a cozy finca, a glamorous event in a luxury hotel, or a relaxed ceremony on a sandy beach, Mallorca has the ideal venue for every couple. In Mallorca, every wedding is as unique and unforgettable as the couples who choose to say ‘I do’ on this beautiful island.
Legal and Logistical Aspects of a Mallorca Wedding
Embarking on the journey of planning your wedding in Mallorca can be as exciting as it is daunting, particularly when navigating the legal and logistical aspects of saying ‘I do’ on foreign soil. Here, we address some of the key questions couples often ask about the process.
One of the common queries we encounter is, “Can I legally get married in Majorca?” and “Can two tourists get married in Spain?” The straightforward answer is yes but with some conditions. In Spain, civil marriages between foreigners or a foreigner and a Spanish national are possible and recognized. However, at least one party must have been a legal resident in Spain for a minimum of two years. For those who haven’t met the residency requirement, many choose to have a legal ceremony in their home country, followed by a symbolic or religious ceremony in Mallorca.
Asking “How do foreigners get married in Spain?” or “Can non-Spanish citizens get married in Spain?” requires understanding Spain’s specific requirements. These include essential paperwork like birth certificates, certificates of marital status, and proof of residence. The documents should be translated into Spanish and stamped with an Apostille seal from your home country. This process can take a few months, so it’s crucial to plan ahead.
The question “Can you get married quickly in Spain?” really depends on your definition of ‘quickly’. If you’ve met all residency requirements and gathered all necessary documents, the process could take a few weeks to a few months. However, for non-residents, the process can take longer due to the paperwork and legalities involved.
Whether you’re getting married in Mallorca or getting married in Majorca – two names for the same beautiful island – it’s an experience filled with romance and charm. The key to a smooth process is understanding the legal requirements and planning ahead. Many couples also opt to hire a wedding planner familiar with the rules and regulations, ensuring that their big day goes off without a hitch.
Special Features of a Mallorca Wedding
The allure of a Mallorca wedding lies in the island’s unique offerings. From scenic beach ceremonies to grand cathedral weddings, the choice is as broad as the Mediterranean horizon itself.
One frequently asked question is, “Can you get married on a beach in Mallorca?” Absolutely! Mallorca’s pristine beaches offer an idyllic setting for a memorable beach wedding. Imagine saying ‘I do’ against a backdrop of the setting sun, your ceremony serenaded by the gentle lap of waves. A beach wedding in Mallorca is a magical experience that captures the laid-back, romantic vibe of this Mediterranean paradise.
Alternatively, if the grandeur of historic architecture appeals to your aesthetic, a “Palma Cathedral Wedding” could be your dream come true. Overlooking the Bay of Palma, La Seu, Palma’s magnificent Gothic cathedral offers an incredibly dramatic and elegant setting for your wedding.
If you’re looking for a more intimate and spontaneous celebration, you might wonder, “Can you elope in Mallorca?” Yes, you can. Mallorca’s diverse landscapes and private venues make it a fantastic location for a romantic elopement. From secluded coves to lush vineyards, there are countless locations for a private, intimate ceremony.
If you’re planning to pop the question during your visit, you may be asking, “Where can I propose in Mallorca?” The island offers myriad breathtaking locations perfect for a romantic proposal. The Cap de Formentor offers stunning panoramic views at sunset, while the Bellver Castle provides a historical setting overlooking Palma. For a more intimate moment, a private yacht cruise along the coastline would certainly do the trick.
Each Mallorca wedding is a unique experience, infused with the island’s beauty, charm, and romantic atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for a grand cathedral wedding, a relaxed beach ceremony, or a spontaneous elopement, Mallorca offers a unique setting for your special day.
Affordability and Packages for Mallorca Weddings
When planning your dream wedding in Mallorca, one of the fundamental aspects to consider is the cost. So, what is the average cost of a wedding in Mallorca? Like anywhere, the cost of a wedding can vary significantly depending on various factors, including the venue, number of guests, season, and how lavish you want your celebration to be. On average, you might expect to spend between €20,000 and €60,000 for a moderately sized wedding. However, this can fluctuate widely based on your personal preferences and budget.
So, are weddings in Spain cheaper? Comparatively, Spain is generally considered more affordable than other popular European wedding destinations like France or Italy, while still offering exceptional quality and service. This affordability extends to Mallorca, making it an attractive destination for international couples.
One way to streamline your planning process and potentially save costs is by opting for Mallorca wedding packages or Majorca wedding packages. These packages often include essential services like venue hire, catering, photography, and music, providing an all-in-one solution for your wedding needs. Packages can vary widely in terms of what’s included and pricing, allowing you to find an option that suits your budget and style.
In terms of “affordable wedding venues Mallorca,” there are plenty of options. From charming fincas in the countryside to beautiful beachfront hotels, there’s a venue to suit every budget. Some affordable options include the rustic Finca Comassema, the beachfront Hotel Playa Esperanza, and the historic Castell Son Claret.
Finally, hiring a wedding planner in Mallorca can be an excellent investment. Not only can they help you navigate the local wedding scene, but they can also negotiate prices, manage logistics, and provide invaluable local knowledge. In the end, this could save you time, money, and stress, allowing you to fully enjoy the lead-up to your big day.
Ultimately, a wedding in Mallorca can be tailored to suit various budgets without compromising on quality or experience. It’s all about knowing your options, planning carefully, and maybe seeking the help of an expert.

Mallorca's Most Popular Seaside Wedding Venues
As wedding destinations go, Mallorca has more to offer than most: beautiful hotels , historic buildings, dramatic landscapes – not to mention the fantastic local food and wine. If your heart is set on a wedding with sea views, check out our selection from the island’s many beach clubs , marinas and cliff-top venues.
1. formentor royal hideaway hotel.
The name says it all – completely private and secluded, surrounded by pine forest and with its own private beach with mountain views, the Formentor Royal Hideaway Hotel has charm in spades. In terms of location, wedding venues rarely feel more special than this, and the drive to this northern peninsula is an event in itself, with spectacular views all the way. Long associated with luxury, the hotel has hosted the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Charlie Chaplin, while Grace Kelly famously honeymooned at this glamorous spot. Ceremonies can be held in the historic chapel, on the hotel’s dramatic outdoor staircase, in front of the sea, or in the gardens, and there are a choice of restaurants and areas for dinner and the after-party. Peaceful seclusion in a stunning location is what you get with weddings here, in a venue that can host (and sleep) a large party.
2. Son Marroig
One of Mallorca’s most iconic wedding venues, Son Marroig is a beautiful estate on the rugged northwest coast, originally owned by the Austrian Archduke Ludwig Salvador. Ceremonies take place in the stunning clifftop white marble rotunda, with incredible sea views and dramatic mountains behind, while the reception can be held on a large sea-view terrace or in one of the balcony rooms in the house. It is worth noting that it is only possible to have evening weddings at this venue, and that the ‘temple’ where the ceremony takes place is ordinarily on an empty terrace, so couples need to provide seating and decorations.

3. Mood Beach Club
Bar, Cocktail Bar, Restaurant
This beach club just a 20-minute drive from Palma overlooks the sea at Portals Nous, and makes for a fantastic wedding venue if you want a seafront spot where everything can be done in-house. You can hire part or all of the beach club, which has a pool, restaurant, cocktail bar and dance floor (after 5pm, you can hire the private beach area for the ceremony). All seating and decorations can be provided for the event, and the club has their own celebrant who can perform the ceremony in Spanish and English. In terms of dancing, the club has its own DJ, and music can be played on the outside terrace until midnight and indoors until the small hours.

6. Hotel Can Simoneta
The five-star Hotel Can Simoneta sits atop the cliffs, surrounded by manicured lawns and extensive gardens, making it the perfect venue for a large outdoor wedding with unbeatable sea views. Although the grounds are large enough to accommodate a large number of guests, the hotel itself only has 18 rooms, so it’s very easy for a wedding party to take over the whole hotel, and there is plenty of alternative accommodation within easy reach. The food is particularly good, the sunsets are stunning and there are plenty of different areas for drinking, eating, dancing or relaxing, all with incredible views.
7. Cala D'Or Yacht Club
At Cala D’Or Yacht Club the red carpet is laid out (literally) for weddings, so if a backdrop of glistening yachts is what you’re after for your sea-front wedding then this is a great option. The club has dedicated wedding planners and events staff, and offers a number of different packages at fairly reasonable prices. The ceremony, dinner and dancing can all take place here, with ceremonies generally taking place in front of a decorated gazebo with the tinkling of boat masts in the background. At the end of the day, rather than exiting the party in car trailing tin cans, you can zip off in style on a boat.

Special Day
The most special day – your wedding, your dream, your way
We had our beautiful wedding on 6th July 2019. We were blown away by the overall experience. The venue itself was exactly what we were looking for in terms of food, atmosphere, scenery and overall experience. The day ran absolutely seamlessly and that was down to the fantastic precision of all the team.
The staff were phenomenal and we couldn’t praise them enough. Sergio, Louis, Sylvia went beyond what was expected even the bar staff, waitresses looked after our guests like royalty nothing was ever too much for them and always smiling and pleasant.
Claire our wedding planner was amazing too – always efficient, professional and attentive to emails and any questions we had. We couldn’t have organised it without you from start to finish, you were great and nothing was too much bother – so thank you so much. Thank you all
– Jen & Gary
We visited Mallorca for a family wedding with over 80 guests, the occasion was spread over 3 days. A barbecue, the wedding and then brunch on the final day. The whole experience was amazing, luxury from start to finish! The staff go completely above and beyond for the guests, the food is DELIGHTFUL. Could not fault the whole experience here! Would 100% Recommend. Thank you for making our experience in Cala D’or one to remember, we will definitely be back
– Annie Clarke

Yacht Club Wedding in Cala d’Or
By john britton mallorca , wedding nov 15, 2020 comments off on yacht club wedding in cala d’or.
Cala d’Or Yacht Club
A great final commission of twenty twenty on the island of Mallorca at the Yacht Club Cala d’Or. Located on the marina, the Yacht Club now caters for weddings and events throughout the summer. This collection of photographs shows the extent to the Yacht Club facilities. You have the restaurant, bar, pool, lawned areas, but in addition there is an upper floor, which has been converted into a modern double bedroom with a large terrace which overlooks the marina.
This is exceptionally convenient if you are photographing a wedding here, as we would usually be in a separate locations for bridal preparations and the ceremony. The very nature of separate locations brings travel schedules, which can mean you miss photographs in either one place or the other. The wedding venue in Cala d’Or has everything in one location which means photographers can maximize their time photographing for the customers.
Cala d’Or is located on the east side of Mallorca and the link to the club, with all the information you need for weddings or events is at the bottom of the page. For alternative wedding venues then visit our blog post here;

Weddings in Mallorca
A guide to help you plan your wedding in Mallorca
Are you dreaming of a destination island wedding in Mallorca but don't know where to start? Do you want to know if you can get officially married in Mallorca? Are you searching for a wedding venue, a catering company, a photographer or a wedding dress? Our team of local experts is here to help you.
Mallorca is a picture-postcard destination wedding location. Whether you prefer to celebrate your magical day on an idyllic beach, in a lavish villa, a rustic finca or a luxury hotel, this island has it all.
Why get married in Mallorca?
With brides and grooms travelling from far and wide, Mallorca has become well versed in hosting weddings. You can have it all, from smaller intimate gatherings to traditional weddings or dance-till-dawn parties. From coastal hotels and beach clubs to mountain escapes and inland retreats , the island offers many different options to choose from. Picture getting married in a clifftop venue overlooking the sea? Or perhaps a rural vineyard estate might take your fancy? For a more private affair, you could hire a yacht to take you and your guests off into the sunset – the list of options in Mallorca is endless. And, with endless sunshine and warm temperatures, the one thing you won't be worrying about here is the weather.
What's the best time of the year to get married in Mallorca?
The most popular time of year to get married in Mallorca is between April and October, especially June and September, so it's worth planning a year or more ahead if you're considering getting married in either of these two months. If you want to have an outdoor wedding in the peak summertime, we would also recommend a late-afternoon ceremony from 16:00 onwards, so that you and your guests are not outside in the heat of the day.
Can you get married in Mallorca?
Yes! However, there are restrictions as to who can get legally married in Mallorca. Legal residents on the island, those who are registered at one of the local town hall registers (or 'padrón') can get legally married in Mallorca. Roman Catholics can also marry here legally, regardless of their residency status. All the rest need to get legally married in a registry office in their home country before or after the non-legal ceremony or blessing in Mallorca.
Roman Catholic weddings in Mallorca If you or your partner are Roman Catholic and looking to get married in a Catholic church , then this is permitted even if you're non-residents. You will need to start the process early at your local church, where they will help you with the official paperwork. Some of the documents they need to send to the Spanish diocese where you want to hold your ceremony are your passport or ID card, birth certificate, a certificate of your and your partner's single, divorced or widower status issued by your home parish, certificate of baptism and confirmation, your local parish church permission to get married abroad and a certificate of having completed the marriage preparation courses.
Civil weddings in Mallorca Civil partnerships in Spain are fully legal and recognised around the world, although they are only available for those who have resided in the country for at least two years. You will need to register your marriage in the local registry office by presenting your passport or ID card, birth certificate, certificate of residence and a certificate of your and your partner's single, divorced or widower status. As of July 2005, same-sex couples can also get legally married in Spain.
These civil weddings can be celebrated in civil registries, legal courts and town halls and must be performed indoors. In Palma, civil ceremonies are held at the City Council, also known as Cort, located inside a 17th-century Baroque palace, and in the 14th-century Bellver Castle which overlooks the Bay of Palma. There are no civil ceremonies in the city during the months of January, August and December.
Symbolic wedding blessings in Mallorca In Spain, legal civil ceremonies must be performed indoors but there are no restrictions regarding non-legal blessings which can be performed anywhere – even on beaches or mountain tops overlooking the Mediterranean sea! You can either have the symbolic ceremony first and then return to your home country for the legal ceremony or, as most couples do or have the legal wedding first then to Mallorca for the blessing and wedding celebration. Many wedding celebrants from different nationalities live in Mallorca, including a bunch of English-speaking ones. It’s also possible to have religious leaders from home conducting ceremonies.
Anglican Church blessings in Mallorca The Anglican Church has a branch in Mallorca and celebrate marriage blessings at their churches in Palma and Port de Pollença, as well as at the Roman Catholic church in Cala d'Or. Thanks to their good relationship with the island’s Roman Catholic priests they can also often arrange for Anglican-rite marriages and wedding blessings to take place in other churches on the island.
Swedish Church marriages in Mallorca It's not only Roman Catholic non-residents who can legally marry in Mallorca, but Swedish citizens can also officially seal the deal on the island. This is possible thanks to the branch of the Swedish Church in Palma. If both parties are Swedish citizens – and at least one of them a member of the Swedish Church, then the marriage is official in Sweden as well. Ceremonies usually take place in Palma, both in the church or the small marina located just in front, and in Alcanada Beach in Alcúdia.
How much does it cost to get married in Mallorca?
The cost of getting married in Mallorca can vary immeasurably – we're here to give you a rough guide. You might have read about celebrities spending hundreds of thousands on their lavish weddings in Mallorca – the island boasts world-renowned venues, Michelin star catering and high-class entertainment with elite prices to match. However, getting married in Mallorca doesn’t necessarily have to be expensive.
How much does wedding venue hire cost in Mallorca? Some of the island's hidden treasures don’t charge very much. For instance, finca-style venues usually have a set price for the venue hire, usually ranging between €1,500 and €5,000. Hotels tend to have set fees that vary depending on the establishment, some may even require booking out the whole hotel exclusively for the wedding, including all their bedrooms, whilst others can accommodate individual needs – this will also affect the price.
What do wedding packages include in Mallorca & what's their price? Whether you use a wedding catering company or choose a hotel, the cost is usually defined by the number of people attending the wedding. For instance, packages could be priced at €100 per person but this includes food, decorations, crockery, tables and chairs, serving team and more. It’s possible to choose from BBQs and buffet-style catering through to sophisticated Michelin-starred, sit-down, three-course meals. It is worth mentioning that, in Mallorca, the ‘barra libre’ or open bar is often included in the packages. This means open bar for a set period of time, which you can usually negotiate.
Each venue works differently and some catering companies have exclusive rights to cater to specific places but the good news is that they tend to offer various packages to suit budget requirements. In this instance, we would recommend getting in touch with the catering companies directly to discuss your budget and wishes and view the venues they work with – they should be able to send you a list and will organise the viewings with you.
Music and entertainment, flowers or photography services tend to be an additional cost, these are not usually supplied by the hotel or catering company but they obviously do make recommendations. There’s an element of flexibility with the choices you make in terms of catering, flowers, entertainment, etc. If you are very specific about what you want for your special day, we would recommend organising a wedding planner to help arrange everything your heart desires. This will add to the cost.
What does a typical wedding day look like in Mallorca?
Every wedding is a little bit different but, on the whole, in Mallorca, it is common for the day to kick off in the mid to late afternoon with many ceremonies starting at 15:00 or 16:00. This is generally due to keeping guests out of the heat of the midday's sun. It also means that dinner is later and, in true Spanish style, is usually followed by late-night dancing. Each venue has a different policy on timings for the celebrations to finish, and some will permit a longer license for an additional fee.
Wedding venues in Mallorca
The island offers a huge choice of venues so you will surely find the ideal spot to hold the wedding of your dreams. Historic mansions , imposing castles and fortresses , luxury hotels , charming rural fincas and sophisticated beach clubs are all options to consider. They all have their own unique selling points, while the services that come along with each location vary; some even offer wedding planners and suppliers, whilst others let you take the lead on your special day. These are some of our top picks:
Historic mansions Mallorca’s countryside encompasses some stunning historic mansions that have been tastefully restored but still retain much of their original charm and possess some pretty splendid gardens. Son Julia Country House Hotel & Spa is a charming 15th-century mansion near Llucmajor with extensive grounds providing plenty of options for couples. The 15-minute drive from the airport, the 30 bedrooms available for guests and the in-house wedding planner are all features that make this place stand out from the crowd.
Ca’s Xorc Boutique Hotel is another fabulous choice set in the hillside overlooking Sóller. This converted finca and oil mill has managed to retain much of its historic features allowing you to soak up some of the best of the real Mallorca. Paired with professional service and first-class cuisine, you have all the ingredients needed for your big day, including breathtaking views over the valley.
Castles & fortresses Mallorca's castles and fortresses are possibly the closest you could come to a fairytale wedding. Castell Son Claret is a real-life medieval castle dating back to 1450, which has been refurbished to the highest standards to become one of the most prestigious hotels on the island. The palatial terraces and historic courtyards offer an unrivalled romantic setting and, when it comes to the food, you know you are in good hands as its restaurant, Zaranda , is the only two-Michelin star eatery on the island.
Luxury hotels Luxury hotels offer a refined, well-rehearsed experience and are great for housing the wedding party and their friends and family all under one roof. St Regis Mardavall Hotel is a popular choice for weddings in Mallorca, perhaps due to the signature St Regis butler service that comes with its name. The setting within the stunning Tramuntana mountains is exquisite, with the sparkling Mediterranean sea on its doorstep. The grounds are vast, with many different options available to suit each couple’s style.
Carrossa Country House Hotel & Spa is a five-star hotel centred around a historic country estate but with all the contemporary furnishings, fixtures and fittings one could want for. Positioned in the north of the island, the backdrop to this venue has a certain wow factor, owing to the Serra de Levant mountain range and the sea views.
Rural fincas There are dozens of hidden rural gems dotted all around the island's countryside that have been set up especially for weddings. Son Togores is a pretty country house located at the edge of the Serra de Tramuntana, offering various options to couples. From a wedding in front of the main entrance in a cobbled courtyard area, through to a ceremony under the trees in the magical estate. Its terrace is a superb location to hold the wedding breakfast.
Sa Barrala is a wonderfully rustic finca which gives couples the chance to take the venue for three days if they wish to. With 12 bedrooms on-site, it's perfect for a wedding weekender. Situated in Campos, near the stunning beach of Es Trenc, this authentic Mallorcan farmhouse is ideal for a country ceremony and to party the whole night long.
Palma weddings
If the romantic capital city of Palma has won your heart, then perhaps this is where you want to say your ‘I dos’. The magical Nuevo Pueblo Español is an enchanting option. This mini-village replicates some of Spain’s most iconic architecture with Arab, Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance styles on display. With various areas available for use for events, it could be the perfect place to host a wedding party.
Alternatively, there are some fabulous hotels to choose from. If it has always been your dream to get married in a castle then the Castillo Hotel Son Vida could be the one for you. This large five-star hotel is housed within a 13th-century castle and offers the most breathtaking views over the city of Palma. Just outside of Palma, Cap Rocat is a renovated fortress overflowing with history, with a magical atmosphere that hits you as soon as you arrive at the entrance. Its unique architecture, breathtaking sea views and unparalleled service make this one of the most sought-after locations to get married on the island.

With their help, your dream wedding will run so smoothly you really will be able to relax and cherish every moment, safe in the knowledge that behind the scenes someone else has taken the stress out of putting together a flawless and memorable event.

From quaint and boho to grand and luxurious, they have it all. If you aren’t sure where to start and want some help with finding your venue and looking for a one-stop-shop to plan your wedding, we would highly recommend looking at a company like Totapunt. They help you book your perfect venue, provide first-class catering service, offer rental of chairs, tables, decorations and more. Once you have found the venue of your dreams. They also hold a wedding fair where everything is on display and you can just go along and pick what you want for your wedding.
Wedding photographers in Mallorca
There is a range of multilingual wedding photographers on the island, so you can take your pick. Two of our favourites are Aimee K and Ilona Antina , both of which are well-versed in working for English-speaking couples. In any case, we recommend you check out their work before hiring a photographer to see which of their styles would suit you and your day the best.
Wedding caterers in Mallorca
There’s a long list of talented event caterers on the island who are experienced in both large and small scale events. Many venues work with their own catering companies but, if you are in a position to decide yourself, you will find you are spoilt for choice. Many of the island’s top restaurants have a side business as a catering service, including Michelin-starred eateries like Marc Fosh or Jardin by Maca de Castro , so be sure to keep these in mind too.

Yacht Charter in Mallorca
Mallorca yacht charter
Mallorca, or Majorca, is a stunning island in the Mediterranean Sea, located about 125 miles south of Spain, Barcelona. The largest island in the Balearic Islands group, Mallorca, is a trendy holiday destination and a paradise for sailing enthusiasts and beach lovers.
Why charter a yacht in Mallorca?
As an island in the Mediterranean and boasting of over 200 beaches along its coastline, to charter a yacht in Mallorca is genuinely the best way to explore all the island's beauty. With turquoise blue, calm waters, pleasant temperatures, weather all-year-round, the Mediterranean Sea, and the beautiful natural scenery on the coast offer the perfect yacht holiday for couples, families, and groups of elite travelers. There are over 40 harbors in Mallorca, creating the perfect sailing paradise in the Balearic Sea head.
What are yacht charter prices in Mallorca?
Yacht charter prices in Mallorca vary depending on several factors. As a famous yachting destination, plenty of yacht charters offer different itineraries and experiences on the island. A sailing yacht is perfect for a coastline cruise or a sunset cruise along Palma's port, the capital. A 50-foot, 3-cabin sailing yacht can cost around $800 to $1,000 for a day's rent. A 65-foot motor yacht with six cabins suitable for 12 people on board can cost around $2,000 for a day's rent, while a 100-foot luxury yacht for ten people on board can cost about $8,000 per a day's rent.
When is the yachting season in Mallorca?
The yachting season in Mallorca falls between April and October when the weather on the island is best. The climate is generally pleasant all-year-round, but storms do occur in the winters.
Mallorca yacht charter for a day
Whether you go to the north coast or the south of Mallorca, there's a beach, bay, and inlet waiting for you to discover. A typical full-day yacht charter involves relaxing on the boat with a welcome drink, then making your way to Cala Vells Bay, where you can swim and snorkel and have lunch in any beach clubs inland. Your yacht charter can make the arrangements for you for a hearty Mediterranean lunch. After a scrumptious feast of regional delicacies, you can then proceed to the rocky inlet of Sa Dragonera, which is a conservation area and uninhabited. This means it's pristine, secluded, and private, offering a peaceful retreat for your afternoon activity. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and a wide array of water sports activities before making your way back to Palma at sunset.
Mallorca yacht charter overnight
An overnight yacht charter in Mallorca allows you more time to explore the island and a romantic opportunity to spend the night on the water. You can head to Alcudia, which is found to the north of Mallorca and a sheltered bay. It has excellent beaches for swimming and snorkeling, but its main interest is the Town itself. Visit the Old Town and walk within its medieval city walls, making you feel like you've traveled back in time. Visit the churches, museums, art galleries, and if you're traveling with kids, the Town has an exciting water park that everyone can enjoy. Anchor on Alcudia bay for the night, then make your way back to Palma, cruising along the eastern coast, and making a stop on Porto Cristo, a small town famous for manufacturing pearls.
Mallorca yacht charter for a week
To immerse yourself in Mallorca's true beauty, visiting its coastal towns and nearby inlets is the best way to experience this Spanish island's natural beauty and culture. A one-week liveaboard on board a yacht charter creates an unforgettable experience in the Mediterranean. You can start your one-week itinerary by embarking at Port Adriano in Palma.
Day 1: Port D' Andratx
The moment you enter this bay, you will immediately see the countless villas and vacation homes perched on the hills. This very view alone shows you that it's a favorite destination for the rich and famous, home to beautiful coves and beaches, and a quaint town with gourmet restaurants and artisanal cafes. Visit the Old Town, shop for crafts and souvenirs, have an afternoon coffee, and stroll around the port before calling it a day.
Day 2: Cala Formentor
You can find one of Mallorca's most beautiful beaches here, perfect for a day of sunbathing and swimming. It's also an excellent spot for scuba diving and wildlife watching.
Day 3: Port Soller
This horseshoe-shaped bay is pretty and charming. Head inland and visit the main square for people to watch and eat some Spanish pastries and coffee. In the afternoon, stroll around its narrow streets, and enjoy its fascinating culture and beauty.
Day 4: Sa Rapita
Among the best beaches in Spain is found here, which is En Trenc. It has 2 miles of white sand and clear waters, offering a perfect day on the beach and a relatively peaceful stopover.
Day 5: Porto Cristo
With great beaches, and a long, sheltered inlet, you can soak up the sand and sun in Porto Cristo or visit the Dragon Caves, with its stalactite-studded cave system and enjoy a short floating concert on the underground lake.
Day 6: Cala Figuera
This working fishing port is a peaceful, laidback, and charming fishing village. White-painted houses are found on the edge of the water, and if you arrive here early enough, you can purchase the early catch of the day to be grilled on board by your price chef for lunch. In the afternoon, this fishing village's crystal clear waters offer the perfect opportunity for diving and snorkeling.
Day 7: Cabrera
This national park is stunning. Its preservation means it's an uninhabited island that is pristine and breathtaking. You can't drop anchor here, but it's a beautiful cruising experience. You can then head back to Palma to end your one-week liveaboard.
Wedding yacht charter in Mallorca
Mallorca's wedding is a dream come true for many couples, but a yacht charter wedding elevates it to another level of extraordinary. Only Mallorca residents can legally marry here by law, so your wedding ceremony on a church or the boat will be ceremonial. Nevertheless, the Mediterranean's absolute beauty as your background will create the perfect backdrop for the most romantic day of your lives. Couples can opt to hold their ceremony in one of the Catholic Churches on the island. After, hop on board with your wedding party and have the time of your lives on board.
Luxury yacht holiday in Mallorca
As one of Europe's most famed yachting destinations, Mallorca is the playground of luxury yachts and superyachts. Supersize the possibilities of your luxury Mallorca holiday by a superyacht charter complete with everything you need for a 5-star holiday. Mallorca is a romantic and magical island in Spain that offers more than just natural scenery and rich culture and history. Here, you can enjoy hopping, historical sights and medieval old towns, delicious regional cuisine, and warm, friendly people that complete an unforgettable Spanish yacht charter holiday.

Check out everything you need to know about the Balearic Islands and why we recommend it as the perfect location for your destination wedding in Spain .
The four major islands
Mallorca is the biggest island on the Balearics, and it requires more than a week to go around the whole place. There are so many beaches to choose from and it would be better to have a wedding planner to point you in the right direction when looking for a venue for your big day. But it’s not just the beach aspect of Mallorca that’s worthy to explore. You may opt to tie the knot in the Mallorcan countryside with farmhouses and country homes scattered in a rural setting.
Ibiza cannot be separated from its world-class nightlife and UNESCO World Heritage sites. It’s a perfect combination of history and glamor, with a fusion of medieval villages and VIP luxury clubs and hotels to make your destination wedding in Spain an experience of a lifetime. To know more about getting married on this Balearic Island, check out our dedicated page for [destination weddings in Ibiza](/why-ibiza-for-destination-weddings).
Menorca is the second largest among the four Balearic Islands, and you can explore the whole island in a week via sea travel. You will be amazed at what it offers as a wedding destination - from the fullness of its traditions, the obvious marks of colonial history, and stunning architecture that will leave you wondering how old villages like these have been preserved over the years. Take note that Menorca is the quietest island among the four, so it’s perfect for laidback elopements without the buzzing crowds.
Formentera can only be reached via boat from Ibiza, so you can have the most solitary elopement ceremony in one of its dreamy coves. Walk barefooted on the shores of the magical Caló d’Es Mort cove and say your I do during sunset with small waves splashing on your feet and the sun dusting the sea with gold glitters. It’s a postcard view for your destination elopement. Spend the your honeymoon visiting the Es Pi des Català tower, the astounding megalithic tomb in Ca na Costa, and the La Mola Lighthouse, among other interesting spots in the island.
Why couples choose Balearic Islands for destination weddings
The Balearic Islands are becoming a booming wedding destination for couples who love the sun, the sand, and the deep blue water of the Mediterranean. With its mild climate and plenty of hours of sunshine all year round, any season could be a perfect time to get married here. Here are the reasons why more and more couples are flying to Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera for their destination wedding in Europe!
We’ve been talking about the beautiful beaches of the Balearic Islands since the beginning, and one thing that we want to emphasize is that all beaches in the four islands are public.
You don’t have to pay for their use, but only for the facilities or accommodations if you want to book a venue. Couples flying to the Balearic Islands love the 216-km stretch of coastline in Menorca, the rugged shores and reddish beaches, the golden sandy coves, and the secluded coves surrounded by pines.
You can tie the knot on board a yacht in Ibiza’s coves surrounded by sleepy villages or along Formentera’s white sand with picturesque lighthouses in full view. If you want a mountain backdrop for your ceremony, Mallorca will be the best island of choice.
World-class nightlife
No other place can beat Ibiza when it comes to a world-class island nightlife. This hippy destination is a place where you can be true to yourself, let go of all inhibitions, and get married whatever way you want.
Whether you want a club wedding in the middle of the energetic crowd or by the coast with string and disco lights in the background, you will have an unforgettable evening wedding here in Ibiza.
Party-going couples are in love with this type of wedding and they can’t think of any better location than Ibiza as a wedding destination for a club wedding.
VIP and 5-star celebrity vibe
Its VIP vibe is the top reason why Ibiza has become a favorite celebrity destination by the likes of George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Paris Hilton. Not just Ibiza, but Mallorca also houses several VIP spots for a high-end wedding on the Balearics. Your choices for a luxury wedding here range from VIP villas, first-class restaurants, and old structures turned into boutique 5-star hotels.
If you’re getting married on the Balearic Islands in summer, expect to bump into a celebrity or two enjoying themselves in a high-end holiday vacation.
Unique artistry
You will surely bump into many historic places and artistic works while exploring the Balearic Islands. Centuries of mixed cultures left a mark in the archipelago, from stately courtyards, palaces, medieval castles, ancient monuments, and more.
This array of historic works from various religious influences are on display while you spend your honeymoon circling the islands. Aside from historic works of art, you will also find futuristic architecture in the art galleries here. There are just so many sides to these islands, our planner will help you find the one that’s right for you and your wedding.
Wedding venues
Now, you might be wondering what types of venues are available for your Balearic Island intimate wedding. We’ve rounded up the best for you so you won’t need to do the research on your own. Here are our top picks for the types of destination wedding venues on the Balearic Islands.
World heritage sites
The islands on the Balearics are dotted with archeological and cultural heritage sites that guarantee an authentically historic vibe for your big day. From medieval towns to old villages with century-old architecture, there will always be a reminder of where the islands and its inhabitants came from. One of the most sought-after heritage sites for destination weddings in the islands is the Dalt Vila in Ibiza where streets are made of cobblestones, and the whole city is walled as it was in the medieval times - a perfect place for historic elopements outdoors or inside a medieval building.
Villas and country homes
For laid back weddings with not more than 30 guests, villas and country homes in the islands will be an amazing choice. These homey structures stand out for their rural charm and the beautiful nature that surrounds them. Vineyards, olive groves, and almond blossoms as far as the eye can see are only some of the nature scenes that you can find near the villas and country homes on the Balearic Islands. Having a summer, spring, or autumn ceremony in a private villa amidst this rural setting could be your best option for your destination wedding.
Luxury beach hotels
If you and your loved one want a posh experience in a beautiful hotel with state-of-the-art facilities and fine dining restaurants, you can never go wrong with a luxury beach hotel wedding. Your sea of options range from boutique hotels with amazing architecture, secluded fortresses with a historic vibe and 5-star experience, eco-luxury 5-star hotels, and boho wedding hotels with rustic decor everywhere.
We can’t imagine a better place in Spain than the Balearic Islands for a yacht wedding. Yacht weddings are not just about partying inside or at the deck. You can add water sports to your yacht wedding to have something fun to do after the ceremony. But quite frankly, even without the addition, a luxury excursion aboard a beautiful yacht while looking at the quaint Balearic villages and clear waters are more than enough for an unforgettable wedding.
Spain is predominantly Catholic so couples who want a church wedding through a Catholic ceremony have plenty of venue options here, even on the Balearic Islands. Pick a historic church in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, or Formentera, some of which have a medieval and neo-gothic facade that is perfect for a Catholic ceremony. The interiors are equally historic, with a truly solemn ambiance. There are churches with open-air spots if you want an outdoor Catholic wedding.
Ibiza is one of the best club destinations all over the world. The rocky shores of Ses Variades is among the Balearics locations with a long line of iconic bars and restaurants along its shore. Pick one that fits your taste, and you’ll have an unforgettable club wedding in Spain. Take note that club weddings can happen day or night, especially in Ibiza, and the islands will be filled with partying crowds even at daytime. The music never stops!
How do you feel about getting married on a cliff with zero to only a handful of guests? If that sounds exciting to you, consider tying the knot in a wild outdoor setting in Mallorca, 1000 feet above the ground. Much of the island’s north coast is characterized by high cliffs overlooking dramatic views of the Mediterranean Sea. There’s even a clifftop mansion with dramatic ocean views located between the Mallorcan villages of Valldemossa.
When to get married on Balearic Islands
After figuring out where to get married in this Spanish paradise, you can now pick a date! Here are the different seasons on Balearic Islands and how it’s like to get married in each of them.
During winter, most European destinations are freezing and tourist visits are at their lowest. But on the Balearic Islands, it is one of the most recommended seasons for weddings, especially for couples who love a secluded and quiet ceremony with the least crowds. The Balearic Islands have mild winters ranging from 15℃-20℃ between November and February. That gives you an average of 7 hours of sunshine and only around 47mm of rainfall. These figures mean way more sunshine and less rain compared to the rest of Europe.
Compared to summer, spring brings lesser tourists to the shores of the Balearic Islands but May is one of the best months to have a wedding here. It’s when the temperature is less hotter than in summer, giving you a cooler breeze for your big day. It’s a perfect time for outdoor weddings, sightseeing, and al fresco dining because of the good weather and the crowds have ot arrived yet. Mallorca also retains its vibrant rolling hills and greenery at this time of the year.
For those who love the energetic crowds and the excitement of a summer wedding, June to August are the best months to tie the knot. Just take note that you have to book a venue months or even a year before your summer wedding because venues are usually fully booked this time of the year. Summer is also celebrities' and tourists' favorite season to visit the beautiful Balearic beaches so expect to bump into someone popular at this time.
The calmer months of September and October still have that lovely ambiance along with the drop on venue and accommodation prices. If you want to let the summer fever pass before tying the knot, it’s better to keep your wedding date within the month of September because October is the rainiest season of the year on the Balearics. Despite the dispersion of the crowd, Ibiza and Formentera still have festivals scheduled in autumn, which means there are still local festivities that you can enjoy in these months.
Your island celebration the way you want it
Now that we have the where and the when of your special day on the Balearic Islands, we now want to share with you the different wedding customs and themes that many couples have tried and enjoyed for their big day here.
Late afternoon weddings
Sunset is undeniably the most romantic time of the day for weddings by the beach. It’s when the skies display a magical color palette right before the night begins. It does not come as a surprise that many couples getting married in the islands begin their ceremony late afternoon.
It’s also a custom in Spain to party ‘til the morning, so it makes perfect sense to say your I dos late in the day. A wedding timeline like this involves less stress and a more laid back ambiance because no one needs to get up early and rush the preparation.
Boho wedding theme
Without a doubt, most couples getting married by the beach or in a country house amidst a rural setting on the Balearic Islands prefer a boho-themed wedding above all else.
Wedding venues are decorated with rustic wooden arches, tall pampas grass, eucalyptus and fern prints, rattan table decor, as well as beige and terracotta tones, among others. In Ibiza, for example, the boho theme is most preferred because it is akin to the adlib fashion , which is all about dressing as you like but always in style. Many wedding venues here are boho even without additional decor because they are made with Adlib inspiration in mind.
Modern ceremonies
Along with boho weddings, modern ceremonies are common on the Balearics. This kind of wedding simply means no traditional format and is based completely on the preferences of the couple. You can ditch the tradition of the bride walking down the aisle and instead hold each other's hands while walking down the aisle together.
You can have Peach Perfect Wedddings' celebrant who is on hand to help create and deliver your wedding ceremony uniquely for you. Instead of a veil, the bride can wear a modern headdress, and the announcement of the couple as newlyweds can be as wild as the couple wants it. Modern weddings are not about breaking rules, but about a celebration without any rules at all!
Grand fiesta for the wedding reception
The Mediterranean cuisines are endless, and you must not miss any of them in your wedding reception. Spain is full of fiestas, big celebrations with enormous amounts of food. You can follow this pattern for your destination wedding on Balearic Islands.
Most couples who flew all the way to Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, or Formentera for their destination wedding brought only a small group for their big day. And they gave their guests an amazing Mediterranean treat in a luxury gastronomic experience they will never forget.
What to do for the honeymoon
Your wedding day and the subsequent honeymoon are an inseparable pair that should work out great so you can have a perfect wedding in Spain. That’s why before we reach the last part of this page, we want to let you know the best ways to spend a week or two in Spain for your honeymoon.
Track and field, cycling, and motorcycle races in Formentera and Menorca are one-of-a-kind that people from around the globe travel all the way here for a unique experience. Fall in love with the villages and landscapes of the islands by sailing and cycling through their well-marked routes. If you’re ready for something more exciting, try triathlon, regatta, or mountain bike racing.
Outdoor adventures
Nordic walking and hiking top the list of outdoor activities that anyone can do on the Balearic Islands. Follow the islands’ coastal footpaths to appreciate their beauty all the more. You can try long-distance footpaths or short guided walks to release some sweat whilst enjoying the view.
Join the festivals
One thing that the Balearic Islands will never run out of are its festivals. Imbibed so deeply into the Spanish culture are religious and historic festivals happening all year round across Spain. In Mallorca, there is a medieval folklore commemoration every 24th of December, nighttime. Even in winter, you can join the festa de Sant Antoni that takes place on 16 and 17 January.
Cost of getting married on Balearic Islands
Because of the high-end, VIP vibe of the Balearic Islands, you can expect higher rates compared to the rest of Spain. However, if you don't want to lose all your savings for that week in Ibiza or Mallorca, you can get married in a country home or a villa in a rural setting, the cost of which is more reasonable than luxury hotel weddings. The agri-tourism areas also offer cheaper, but similarly amazing views. Get in touch with us to start planning your destination wedding on Balearic Islands!

The Balearics islands yacht charters
Strategically positioned on ancient trading routs between Europe and Africa, these islands got their fair share of invaders: Greeks, Romans, Turks, etc. Christian kings, Arab rulers and Jewish merchants have all left their mark there. With a yacht charter in Mallorca you can easily explore its diverse architectural heritage, in colorful fiestas, ceremonies and cuisine.
Like mainland of Spain, the Balearics Islands have been inhabited since pre-historic times. So many invaders laid claim to them at various points in history. Both Catalan and Castilian Spanish are spoken in the Balearics Islands, which has been an autonomous region since 1983.
One of the Balearic Islands yacht charter bases is located in Mallorca, a beautiful mountainous island, with rolling hills, sandy beaches and stalagmite caves. It's landscape, culture and entertainment offers a wide range of experiences during your sailing vacation. And it is also by far the most culturally rich.
The great Polish composer Frederic Chopin stayed at the monastery of Valldemossa with his lover Aurora Dupin, better known as the French novelist George Sand, in the winter of 1838, where he composed his 24 preludes. The English poet Robert Graves hosted Pablo Picasso and actors Alec Guiness and Peter Ustinov at his house. The painter and sculptor Joan Miro also found his home here. His works are on display in the Fundacio Pilar i Joan Miro, on the outskirts of Palma.
Yacht charter Mallorca is incredibly diverse in its landscape, architecture, culture or just entertainment. There is so much to enjoy in Palma during a sailing vacation: from stunning nature reserves and charming fishing villages to picturesque ruins and impressive country estates. With bareboat or skippered charter you'll get whatever you want here: wonderful beaches and vibrant nightlife with dancing and music, or rural retreats with sedate and peaceful atmosphere.
Mallorca sailing conditions
The climate is mild, typically Mediterranean, with dry and sunny summer. During July and August, average temperature raises to 75 – 85 F with stable light winds from 5 to 15 knots. The winds are predominantly southeast on the west part of the island and northwest on the eat part. July marks the beginning of the peak sailing season, which will last till the end of September. Cold winters are very rare in this area, with average temperature around 60 F, Palma boat rentals are available the year round. Nights are cold, but days are mostly sunny with partial clouds. The highest rainfall is usually between October and December. All in all, the weather is very pleasant and mild all year around.
Winter navigation
The average temperature in December-January in navigation area near Balearic Islands is mild. The average max temperature is 18 C and the minimum temperature 13 C. But it’s quite frequent to have a few days with 20 C or above.
It’s necessary to be equipped with warm clothes and waterproof jackets, but don’t be afraid it is just a precaution and if sunny and on land, you will have chance to wear T-shirt.
All boats are supplied with bed linen and warm blankets; additional heaters are also available to make the main saloon and cabins warm and toasty in almost any conditions.
Nevertheless you should keep in mind that it is better to bring all staff in soft bags or backpacks because space on the boat is limited. Take the most comfortable clothes (wool socks, wool sweater, waterproof jackets, water resistant shoes, wool hats), sunglasses, and protective sun cream, personal medicines, toilette accessories and gloves.
Places of interest
The island's north-west coast is especially scenic, with its terraced cliff sides and hidden coves. Once you venture away from crowds, this area will give you a pleasant sense of isolation. It's craggy coast is dotted with watch towers, ancient monasteries and churches and picturesque idyllic villages.
Sun Marroig, estate of 18th century, has been converted into a museum with a great collection of pottery and paintings.
Mirador del Ses Animes, the former defense tower, standing on a steep rock, is visible from far away.
Port d'Andratx, used to be a small fishing port, now harbors expensive yachts for the rich and famous. The cute town, with its white shuttered houses and cobbled streets, lies in a valley, while the old watch towers are formidably standing on the hill above it.
Another popular attraction is the pearl factory at nearby Manacor.
On the island's east coast, near the fishing port of Porto Cristo, are the Caves of Drach, which contain one of the world's largest underground lakes.
Mallorca's Caves
Caves in Mallorca are formed out of limestone rocks. Some are the size of a cathedral with dripstones that form fantastic forms and are illuminated for better impression. Once they provided shelter for early settlers or hiding places for pirates. Although Mallorca has about 200 caves, only a few of them are open to public. And it's worth taking a tour! There is a number of caves with underground lakes. They have great acoustics and concerts can be performed by the musicians seated in boats.
Beaches of Mallorca
Mallorca has about 80 beaches. The best are around Badia de Palma. Some of the beaches include restaurants, fun parks, water sports and beachside bars. But it is still possible to find secluded beaches: however they may have quite a few facilities and could be difficult to reach.
Palma de Mallorca
Palma over the years has transformed itself from a provincial town into a metropolis. With a quarter of a million residents, it is Mallorca's main city and the capital of Baleares province. It captivates you by the evident signs of its rich history: dominant cathedrals, grand public buildings, exquisite private mansions.
On a hill overlooking the port there is Bellver Castle, a fine example of the 14th century military architecture. Caiman Forum Palma, built in 1902, the most impressive 20th century building, now serves as a cultural center. Palau Reial de I'Almudaina, the former royal residence built in 1309, is now turned into a museum. And here is the Gothic Cathedral, built of golden sandstone, is one of the most breathtaking buildings in Spain. Palma Cathedral is one of the best-sited cathedrals anywhere - it is positioned high on the sea wall towering over the harbor. The construction began in 1230 and finished in 1601. At the beginning of the century Antonio Gaudi remodeled most of its interior.
Among other structures of interest are Arab Baths of the 10th century, Church of San Francisco of the 13th century and The Forn Teatro (Theater Bakery), well-known for its impressive facade and it's delicious pastries.
Spanish cuisine is as varied as the country itself. Good quality local cuisine is always available. Most of the Balearic dishes are Catalan in origin: ensaimadas - spiral pastries dusted with icing sugar or sobrasadas - spicy pork pates.
But the influence of each occupying force over the centuries - Arabs, French or British – also has left its mark on the local cuisine, as well. Sobrasada - a sausage-meat spread. Embutits – cured meats. Surrounded by water, there is no wonder that seafood (especially lobster and cray fish) predominates here. Caldereta de llagosta (lobster stue), once a simple fishermen's dish is now a delicacy. The classic Mallorcan dish is Pa Amb Oli, a slice of toasted bread rubbed with garlic and drizzled with local olive oil. Tapas are popular bite-sized snacks, often served hot with chilled wine or beer.
