Grampian Marine
Grampian Marine was one of the first manufacturers fiberglass sailboats in Canada. It was founded by Jim Bisiker, owner of a construction company at Oakville, Ontario. Bisiker, along with Dick Kneulman and John Burn began building small fiberglass boats under license from Dyer Yachts of Rhode Island, USA. At the time, Dyer was at the leading edge for this technology and all three men had spent time at the Dyer plant learning as much as they could. The first Grampian plant was built on land owned by Bisikers company. Soon enough this attracted a group from the US wanting Grampian to build boats for them. There was Charles Angel from Rochester, NY, who had designed the TRIANGLE 20 and TRIANGLE 32, and later the US 42 which later became the 46. Marketing was done by US Yachts, whose principals included Bob Larsen and Warren Dellenbaugh. Larsen and Dellenbaugh were also among the founders of O’Day Yachts. As a result, Grampian began building not only the US Yachts line, but also (for the Canadian market only) the O’Day line of day sailors. Grampian also participated in the development of O’Day’s new Hunt designed offshore powerboats though they chose not be involved in the actual production. During the late 1960’s, Grampian continued to build boats for O’Day though declined an offer to be bought out by them. (O’Day did purchase US Yachts and Triangle Marine before going public on the New York Stock Exchange.) Grampian also built the ALBACORE, SNIPES and FLYING TERNS and 420’s (The Canadian government placed an order for fifty) in addition to the CLASSIC 22 and the G 17, a cuddy cabin dinghy. In response to the urging of George Walton Yachts of Annapolis, Md., and other dealers in the US, Grampian began building it’s own line of ailing yachts which included the CLASSIC 31 designed by Peter van Dyne, and the S&S designed CLASSIC 37. Subsequently Grampian took on its own in-house designer Alex McGruer. He began with the GRAMPIAN 26 followed by the GRAMPIAN 30 and later the GRAMPIAN 23. Due to it’s expanding US market, a plant was opened in North Carolina USA and the company became less reliant on it’s original Oakville facility. When the company closed in 1977, the assets were sold to a number of different buyers. (The molds for the HERITAGE 35 had been purchased just before.) The North Carolina plant was taken over by Tanzer Industries.

1973 Grampian G2-34
Yorktown, Virginia
Make Grampian
Model G2-34
Category Cruiser
Posted 3 Weeks Ago
The boat needs a good scrubbing, the Gelcoat is in good shape, no chalking noticed. The owner fixed a couple of soft spots in the cabin roof. Per the seller, the deck feels sturdy. The running gear is 2 years old and in very good shape. The seller asserts this boat is that you can go sailing in it right away, with no major issues. All of the things that need to be replaced and updated on a boat this age has been done. The current owner has put a lot of work into rejuvenating the interior with fresh paint, new cushions covers, and other details. There is less than 50 hours on the engine. There is no known mechanical issues. The kitchen has just recently been updated. All the standing rigging is new. Stock #234013 Center Cockpit sloop, all wiring, plumbing and power replaced! Grampian 34 center cockpit sloop G2-34 Grampian is an Oakville, Ontario Canadian company with a plant in NC Grampian Yachts were named after the Grampian Mountains of Scotland. A Charles Angle/Axel Schmidt design, the Grampian G2-34 is a roomy, long-range cruising yacht. The center cockpit provides a smooth, dry ride in rough weather and allows a private aft cabin for the owners of the ship. When Grampian went out of business in 1977, the molds for the 34-2 were sold, and a few more were built as the SEAFORTH 34. Owners Group: http://www.grampianowners.com/ The Grampian Story: https://youtu.be/KjEY8Z42YlYG2-34 The Grampian G2-34 is a perfect sailboat for the bay or coastal cruising. The mast is stepped on the cabin roof with a support pillar in the cabin. This is a very seaworthy design with a fin keel, skeg rudder, and 5170 lbs. of enclosed ballast. The double cabin design allows for cruising with kids or another couple. The front V-berths are kid-sized. Lots of storage space all throughout the boat, the hull is insulated with closed-cell foam panels. The dinette converts into a double berth. It has a relatively new 120 Genoa and the original jib. The main is rigged with 2 reef points and what appears to be an unused storm jib. With these and the heavy-duty rigging, you are ready for some stormy weather! The hull has been refinished, blisters repaired. 2 years ago the owner installed new wiring, lighting, plumbing, rigging, tanks (gas/waste/water), and batteries. Solid mechanically but could still use some cosmetic updates on the interior. It's ready to sail. Comes with an excellent Genoa, fair main (1-2 seasons left), like new storm jib. Full perimeter toe rail with holes for lines or blocks. Stern boarding ladder. Reason for selling is getting another project boat.

23 ft. Grampian 23 sailboat for project or parts w/ functional dbl-axle trailer
Hamlin, New York
I purchased this Grampian 23 as a project-boat and trailered it from Florida to New York several years ago. Based on distortion to the stanchions, bow pulpit and mast foot, I would guess that it was dismasted at some point. I have not had it in the water and cannot vouch for its structural integrity. The cockpit, deck and cabin top show some stress cracks and/or soft spots. The interior cabinetry, shelves and bulkheads are badly water-damaged from standing bilge water. Counter tops and berth tops seem solid. The floor boards are missing and need replacement. (Solid floor supports are provided.for installation) The keel has been sandblasted, faired and painted. Original shrouds and stays are included for reference and measurement only as all have broken strands and meat hooks. There is a standard rudder with original pintals and gudgeons. There is a mast, w/boom, and a handmade mast-foot w/ hinge This substantial trailer was converted to dbl. axle and modified to transport a fixed keel Grampian 23. It could be easily modified for other purposes. It needs at least two replacement tires. The lights have been updated and are in working condition. Local pickup only. Please contact me through ebay messages for answers to questions, further details. or if interested in boat and parts only.

Let's Get to Know Each Other
Let's connect, grampian 26 sailboat.
Built-in 1967, the Grampian 26 is a Canadian sailboat, which Alex McGruer designed. It was developed into the Discovery 7.9 in 1975 and which was built in a relatively smaller number. Grampian 26 was first built in Grampian Marine in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, between 1967 and 1977. Around 980 examples of Grampian 26 were completed, and the boat was known to be the most successful design in this size range.
The Canadian Sailor With the Best Value
Grampian 26 is a small recreational keelboat and made mainly of fiberglass along with wood trim. The masthead sloop rig, a raked stem, an internally mounted spade-type rudder, a fixed fin keel or centerboard, and a vertical transom.
There is a design that is optionally factory-equipped with a Palmer gasoline engine, or it can be equipped with a small outboard motor used for maneuvering and docking. The freshwater tank has a capacity of 20 U.S. gallons (76 L; 17 imp gal).
Grampian 26 has had a number of successful sails down the Atlantic Ocean, and it was once sailed for two years from New York to Europe. It is a 26 foot boat with a big cockpit, standing headroom along the length of the cabin, and bigger than normal v-berths.
Grampian 26 is known for its best price/size ratio on the used market. The cabin below has a dinette arrangement on the port side and a galley along the starboard side.

WGS 84 coordinate reference system is the latest revision of the World Geodetic System, which is used in mapping and navigation, including GPS satellite navigation system (the Global Positioning System).
Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.
Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. Positive latitude values correspond to the geographic locations north of the Equator (abbrev. N). Negative latitude values correspond to the geographic locations south of the Equator (abbrev. S).
Longitude is counted from the prime meridian ( IERS Reference Meridian for WGS 84) and varies from −180° to 180°. Positive longitude values correspond to the geographic locations east of the prime meridian (abbrev. E). Negative longitude values correspond to the geographic locations west of the prime meridian (abbrev. W).
UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.
Elevation above sea level is a measure of a geographic location’s height. We are using the global digital elevation model GTOPO30 .
