The reason we bring this up is because the Georgia multi-talent has recently previewed a new track on Instagram. Lil Yachty appears to be interpolating the 1997 R&B record "Swing My Way" by K.P. and Envyi.

This teaser has been collecting some iffy reactions from fans in DJ Akademiks comment section. One person writes, "His longevity of mid needs to be studied." Another even says Lil Yachty is trying to copy Veeze's style, "ngl dis a waste of this beat n sample n****s think they can sound lazy on every beat like they veeze." However, as expected fans in Lil Boat's post about "Swing My Way" were more favorable.

Lil Yachty Shares Photos of Drake 'Before We Got Close and He Got Fly' to Commemorate Birthday

Yachty and Drake most recently brought their collaborative strengths together for several 'For All the Dogs' moments.

Lil Yachty is ringing in Drake ’s 37th birthday by sharing a slew of photos showing the " Summer Games " sequel denier before he "got fly."

As Monday rolled into Tuesday, Yachty hit up his Instagram Stories to wish his friend and frequent collaborator a happy birthday while also highlighting a number of past Drake looks that should be familiar to longtime fans.

"Happy birthday Aubrey," Yachty wrote. "Posting my favorite pics of Drake before we got close and he got fly. ... I love u Pap."

Several posts later, Yachty pondered the possibility of further commemorating Drake’s birthday by sharing footage of him “eating a glizzy.” See more below.

Of course, Yachty's impact on the current Drake era is a much-discussed topic among fans. Complex's Mike DeStefano recently took a deep look at this influence in light of the release of the 6 god's For All the Dogs album, which featured multiple Yachty co-production credits. Yachty also appeared on the Dogs track "Another Late Night."

It's been a banner year all around for Yachty, whose work on Dogs and recent string of singles (including the J. Cole-assisted "The Secret Recipe") was preceded by one of 2023's best albums, Let's Start Here .

Yachty is currently on the road in support of the acclaimed album, with his Field Trip Tour next set to touch down at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver, and St. Louis will also be brought into the experience before October wraps up.

Miles Parks McCollum, who is known under his rapper stage name of Lil Yachty, was born on August 23, 1997, which makes him currently 21 years old. Lil Yachty was born in Mableton, Georgia. His first studio album, “Teenage Emotions,” was released in May 2017. He released two albums in 2018, “Lil Boat 2” and “Nuthin’ 2 Prove.” The young rapper was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2017 for his song “Broccoli.” Ironically, Lil Yachty once claimed that he has never eaten a fruit or vegetable, despite his healthy-food song name. The rapper has began writing for other artists, with him recently coming forward that he wrote the majority of City Girls’ “Act Up.” About writing for the two women, he said, “I know them personally and I know what women like to hear,” he said. Lil Yachty continued, “I was like, ‘What’s some raunchy sh*t?'” He said, “And I started saying just crazy sh*t. But I came out and I was like, ‘Y’all watch, this is about to blow up.'”

How Lil Yachty Went From Instagram Whiz to Kanye West Collaborator

Some aspiring rappers sling mixtapes; some upload demos to Soundcloud. Lil Yachty – one of hip-hop’s most idiosyncratic young stars – took a different, hyper-contemporary path to stardom: He vowed to become Instagram-famous. “I wasn’t really focused on music,” the Atlanta native, 19, says. “I was more into fashion on the Internet.” 

A little more than a year ago, Yachty (real name Miles Parks McCollum) struck upon his nautical nickname and a signature look consisting heavily of vintage maritime apparel, sourced from “eBay, Etsy, thrift stores, consignment shops,” he says. Next, he spent a summer in New York, crashing with a buddy and systematically ingratiating himself with some of his online street-fashion heroes, like Luka Sabbat, who has racked up 272,000 Instagram followers. 

“They’re the cool kids all the kids listen to,” Yachty says. “It was strategic. They helped my name build.” Before long, Yachty had an online following of his own. He began to parlay it into a music career, self-releasing catchy, intentionally dinky-sounding tunes packed with off-color boasts delivered in a proudly amateurish singsong. Capitol Records signed him; Kanye invited him to collaborate in the studio (and asked him to model for his Yeezy clothing line); Chance the Rapper gave him a feature spot on Coloring Book ; and Drake put one of Yachty’s best and weirdest songs, “Minnesota,” on his Ovo Sound Beats1 show.

Despite the big-name accolades, Yachty doesn’t take himself seriously. He calls his style “bubblegum trap.” “I’ve got songs that sample Mario Bros. , Charlie Brown, the Rugrats theme, the music that plays when you turn on a Gamecube,” he says. For all his strategic thinking, he characterizes his artistic approach as un-premeditated; he recorded his breakthrough single, an anti-commitment ode called “1 Night,” “in my friend’s garage.” On “Minnesota,” he riffs about his flip phone, New Balance sneakers and his lawyer. Inspired by ingenious weirdos like Lil B and Soulja Boy, Yachty’s bars bob on and off the beat like dinghies. “I just flow,” he says. “My only verse I remember really working on was ‘Mixtape'” – a Chance the Rapper song – “and I took 45 minutes on that because I wanted it to be tight.”

Growing up, Yachty says, he always had flair. “I wore colorful clothes, had colorful hair. My older brother was gangbanging, selling drugs, and I think he was kind of embarrassed of me.” Yachty was arrested, pre-fame, for credit-card scamming, but he says those charges have been expunged. Now, he says he’s focused on positivity: His next album won’t include the cartoonish threats of violence he made on early releases: “That was talkety-talk. I’m not influencing the youth in no bad way. I’m doing can drives at my shows. I’m promoting boating!” He chuckles. “I’m 100 percent sunshine.”

Instagram users got a peek into the friendship between Lil Yachty and Tyler, The Creator. On Sunday, Yachty shared photographs and videos featuring the Call Me If You Get Lost album creator.

“T @ My House 🫂,” read the caption for Lil Yachty’s Instagram post. Yachty and Tyler appeared together in the Quality Control/Motown recording artist’s first picture in the Instagram carousel.

Additionally, Lil Yachty uploaded a clip of Tyler, The Creator playing with a Yachty action figure. Tyler can be seen pulling down the toy’s pants and showing off its plastic buttocks.

“Damn, you got ass, n####. Boat gotta little booty on him, a little U-Haul truck,” joked Tyler, The Creator in the Instagram video as Lil Yachty laughs off-camera.

Yachty also publicized a selfie of himself and Tyler posing in front of a body of water. Both men stuck out their tongues as they took the picture. Plus, Tyler put up his middle finger.

Lil Yachty & Tyler, The Creator Collaborated On Music

Tyler, The Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost arrived in June 2021. After debuting atop the weekly Billboard 200 with 169,000 first-week units, Call Me If You Get Lost returned to No. 1 in April 2022 .

Lil Yachty dropped the Psychedelic Rock album Let’s Start Here in January. The 14-track studio LP debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 chart by collecting 36,000 first-week units.

“I would love to do a project with Tyler [The Creator],” stated Yachty in a recent interview . “He’s the reason I made this album. He’s the one who told me to do it, just go for it.”

Lil Yachty also added, “He’s so confident and I have so much respect for him because he takes me seriously, and he always has.” The two rhymers, along with Tierra Whack and A$AP Rocky, collaborated for “T.D” off 2020’s Lil Boat 3 .

Thanks to Nautica, Lil Yachty Has Officially Sailed Into the Fashion Game

There’s a kooky new kid on the fashion block and he goes by the name of Lil Yachty. The 19-year-old Georgia-born rapper, of “King Boat” and the crew called Sailing Team, first gained fame back in 2015 with his EP Summer Songs , the music of which he himself once dubbed “ bubblegum trap ” (he’s sampled sounds from Rugrats and Super Mario Bros.). His major entrée into style however came last year, when the sartorial world took notice of his beaded red braids, hot pink shirts, and preppy plaid vests. He also modeled for Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 show at Madison Square Garden and was a face of Nautica’s exclusive line for Urban Outfitters.

Now, Lil Yachty is continuing the relationship with his all-time favorite American sportswear brand, as it was announced today that he has signed on to be Nautica’s creative designer. In this new position he will release capsule collections throughout the year and model for ad campaigns. Along with the big news, fans were also treated to a sneak peek of what’s to come with the reveal of a limited-edition collection of logo-bedecked items curated by the lyricist.

Lil Yachty’s eccentric, playfully naïve swag is just the sort of attribute that makes this celebrity fashion mash-up stand out from all the rest. And it’s true of his everyday style game too. If you didn’t know, now you know: King Boat has just sailed into the new year as a fashion force to be reckoned with.

The teenage Mancunian is one of British rap’s finest prospects, with a defiant flow and sly humour that’s won him nods from Drake and more

Y ou could make a case for British rap being more compelling than its American cousin of late; it’s in its rapid expansion phase, not caught in a holding pattern. Partly that’s because there are now so many talented UK artists with non-London accents that it could soon be a disadvantage to spit from England’s capital. Teenage Mancunian Nemzzz is one of our most exciting prospects.

Growing up in Gorton in a house with a kitted-out studio, he was destined for the stage. “My mum made beats – all genres, you can’t box her in! And Dad sang reggae and bashment. I thought, let me give this a try,” the 19-year-old, real name Nemiah Simms, recalls. Six years ago he was ripping beats off YouTube to practise over, obsessively improving his vocal technique and lyrical dexterity. By 2021 he was working with professional beatmakers and scoring a viral smash, Elevate , leading to co-signs from Drake, Central Cee and Lil Yachty. Nemzzz’s voice is unforgettable: pugilistic truculence mixed with sly humour that’s as Manchester as drizzle on a Friday night.

His spiky tone jabs powerfully out of tracks such as Nemzzz Type Beat and PTSD, relatable excerpts of his and his mates’ lives that don’t rely on tired true crime tales but bemoan phone etiquette and voracious social media – ’gram over grams. He has just dropped mixtape Do Not Disturb , full of introvert anthems – an excellent showcase for that inimitable flow.

“Billboard Presents THE STAGE at SXSW” arrancó con una noche dedicada al R&B encabezada por el cantautor y productor PartyNextDoor el 14 de marzo. Party ofreció una actuación enérgica con una banda de acompañamiento en vivo y unos bailarines increíbles. Pero guardó lo mejor para el final: mientras bajaba del escenario al terminar su actuación de una hora, adelantó que su próximo álbum, PartyNextDoor4 , estaba en camino. “P4 llegará muy pronto”, dijo. Segundos después, la pantalla del escenario mostró una fecha más concreta, anunciando que el esperado proyecto llegaría el 26 de abril.

El viernes 15 de marzo, los fans disfrutaron de una noche de música latina en la que actuaron Estevie, artista emergente de cumbia pop, y Christian Nodal , pionero del mariacheño. Tras interpretar algunos de sus mayores éxitos junto a un grupo de seis mariachis con instrumentos de cuerda y vientos y su banda de acompañamiento de siete músicos, Nodal invitó a Estevie a subir al escenario para cantar a dúo “Sabor a mí”.

Por último, el sábado 16 de marzo el gigante de la música electrónica Illenium ofreció una noche centrada en el dance, presentada por Carnival Cruise Line. Mientras tocaba durante más de una hora ante una multitud de superfans (muchos con camisetas de Illenium, su artículo de merchandising característico), el músico y DJ estadounidense ofreció un setlist cargado de bajos que incluía su propio material, remixes de temas de colegas y, lo mejor de todo, un adelanto de su próxima colaboración con Seven Lions.

El pasado año, “Billboard presents THE STAGE at SXSW” contó con las actuaciones de Lil Yachty, Eladio Carrión, Feid y Kx5. A finales de 2023 se celebró la edición inaugural del SXSW Sydney, en la que el grupo de chicas japonesas XG actuó como cabeza de cartel de “THE STAGE at SXSW Sydney”.
