CAPTAIN JACO PIETERSE: Captain Jacobus Pieterse spent his childhood growing up grew up along the ocean and in the city in his native South Africa. He originally hails from Empangeni, which is a city in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, approximately 157 kilometers north of Durban, set in a hill countryside, overlooking a flat coastal plain and the major harbour town of Richards Bay which is 16 kilometers away, A very friendly, easy going and accessible person, everyone just calls him JACO (pronounced Yako). Besides swimming, Jaco excelled at rugby and boxing as a youth. His love of the water moved him on to a yachting career, he now has 30 years of experience on the water, from chartering, diving, and delivering yachts, both power and sail. Jaco is an easy to talk to person, who has a sense of adventure and relishes exploring new places. He spent a lot of time cruising the Indian Ocean, which he loves for its vast unspoiled areas. He arrived to Saint Maarten about 6 years ago and has been cruising the local waters there ever since. The area has become a home of sorts, and Jaco has designed interesting venues for all types of guests, depending on what they want to do, be it intensive watersports, horse back riding, touring, or just quiet pristine places to relax. He feels the service on board should tailor to the guest’s preferences. From a friendly casual atmosphere to a refined discreet silver service, Jaco will deliver what fits! An adventurous soul, she spent time in Australia acquiring skills that have been a great aid to her job on board Eclipse. She has been waitress, hostess, barista, and bartender and also worked as a housekeeper and a social counselor. Some of her favorite activities are water sports, singing and Salsa dancing! But, do not let that sweet demeanor fool you, as this athletic young lady is also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do! Marugia started working on Eclipse as the second stewardess, but her job performance and dedication now have her in the position of Chief Stewardess. She always looks forward to hosting and serving the guests aboard! 2ND STEWARDESS - STEPHANIE Eclipse normally charters with 6 crew, which includes the tender Captain, and all 6 crew sleep in 3 crew cabins. Note from Debra- broker: As you probably know, they didn’t spend much time aboard, as that was the arrangement. However, Mr. G’s PA advised me they were very happy with all the assistance Captain Jaco and his team gave them with land support, tender transfers, handling water toys, etc. I think they would consider chartering ECLIPSE again when they return to St. Barths. Hopefully next time, the seas cooperate more to allow them to use the yacht for transfers and some day trips around the islands.

5 Star!! The yacht was absolutely comfortable and clean. A beautiful boat that met all our expectations. The yacht was well ventilated. All 6 of the crew friendly and accommodating. The food was good and well presented. The yacht was spacious and beautiful. The crew made the trip. Attentive at all times. Courteous etc. All good. We loved the areas we chartered in. She was constructed by the famous yacht builder Couach in 2005. A comprehensive refit was fulfilled in 2019/2020. Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). Utopia, Aquila, Grace, Fortunate Sun, Lady S, Spectre, Illusion were also anchored in the bay. Ectasea (282 feet), the Mega-yacht which had recently snatched the control cabin from the deck of Simpson bay, was also in Saint Barth: its owner is Alshair Fiyaz, a Pakistani billionaire who owns the Polo Club of Saint Tropez-Haras de Gassin.

There were 230 entry formalities for the equivalent of 3,148 passengers by water. What should I bring with me for my St Barts yacht charter?

We find that most people generally like to pack swim wear/ bathing suits, comfortable footwear such as gym shoes or sandals, and sunglasses. Soft side luggage is highly recommended, as they will easily fit inside cabin compartments. Eclipse (JNM)

Villa Eclipse St Barts .  If views of the Caribbean are something you find important as you plan a visit to St. Barts (and most visitors do want views!), consider Villa Eclipse as your ideal first choice. Set in the immensely beautiful Camaruche area, this six-bedroom villa offers million-dollar views of the Marigot Bay.

Naturally, there has to be more to it than just show-stopping views, and it is easy to describe Villa Eclipse as a dream setting from which to enjoy not only a scenic, but an utterly relaxing, rejuvenating and inspiring getaway. From its remarkable, contemporary design; its natural and truly textural materials and décor; and its world-class amenities, visitors will feel that the villa itself is a complete destination.

It all begins with that amazing view, and you can take it in from the enormous, open floor plan living area. Here you find the gourmet kitchen, indoor living room, indoor dining area, and floor to ceiling glass doors. Beyond the doors you can move to the covered terrace and the amazing infinity pool with several different lounging areas. Unique architectural features, such as angular arches and unique lines only enhance your enjoyment of the view. Of course, you can also make your way through the landscaped gardens and enjoy an unimpeded view from a deck at the very top of the property.

The villa can accommodate up to twelve guests in six different bedrooms. The master bedroom and three other king suites are located on the main level. An outdoor stair leads visitors through a small garden and to anther bedroom on a lower level. This features its own lounge along with a fitness studio. A final bedroom is tucked into a studio with bath and sitting room beneath the main villa.

With remarkably beautiful grounds and architecture, gorgeous décor, abundant amenities and true charm, the Villa Eclipse is the perfect space for groups, families, or events.
